2781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Memecoin and utility - impossible or next stage of crypto development on: January 01, 2023, 06:36:08 PM
A memecoin is a type of cryptocurrency that is primarily used for online memes and as a form of online tipping or reward. They are typically not intended to serve as a serious investment or store of value, but rather as a way to facilitate fun and creativity within online communities.

One of the main utilities of a memecoin is its ability to facilitate the spread of memes and provide a way for users to show their appreciation for content creators. By allowing users to tip each other with small amounts of memecoins, it can help to encourage the creation and sharing of new and interesting memes.
-cut-
You don't really need to spread the dogecoin as i thing that everyone with an internet seen the doge meme. And i've never encoutered new meme token being a thing used to top people.

What i've seen during somewhere in the top of the ico frenzy cycle, token names being used as an adverisement for a website or other kind of token. I don't think that was very effective as that was a sure thing no make me NOT to even google about it and avoid the name in all cost.
2782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 01, 2023, 06:27:43 PM
When a man gets married to a woman to become husband and wife, they become one and everyone expects that they can get to share everything with each other. I know of women who have the passwords to their husbands bank cards and they can make withdrawals on his behalf. I will like to ask the Men here if they have shared their seed phrase with their wife's? I will like to ask the women here how they will feel if their husbands refuse telling them their seed phrase?
Married? That's hard because if i didn't have a prenuptial agreement i think i would be legally obligated to share it.

If there was a way to prevent that, these days i would rather leave it into my will. Or to my kids. Because from an experience i had very messy divorce while ago and if my spouse would have known my privatekey i don't know what would have happened.

And even if that account didn't have any BTC left there's always a change for an airdrop later on. That hasn't been as popular in BTC for a while but for just in case i store the wallet private keys that i had meaningful amounts stored in
2783  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your takes on revenge gambling? on: January 01, 2023, 06:09:36 PM
I've never heard of the term but it fits. I've been describing it as gambling on loss while you are frustrated and angry so yours is faster to say.

But i am sad to admit that this has been the doom of me of several times. Especially on poker it makes to drop down your guard and is a recipe for loss. Now i have a rule that when i am losing enough for it making me frustrated, i am taking a long walk beore gambling, or preferably now playing on that day or few days until i am totally cooled down.
2784  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SBF get prosecuted, Elon got away from laws, why double standard? on: January 01, 2023, 05:04:50 PM
SBF get prosecuted, Elon got away from laws, why double standard?

SBF selling share of FTX company, Elon selling not only one, but three company of the shares, his tesla his spacex and his boring company. But only SBF go to jail while Elon wouldn’t stop making more noise to distract attention.

Why is the double standard? The laws are made to protect the born rich billionaires? What’s the dark magic that Elon pulling to fool the entire legal system? Is it the money that’s empowering him and even to above the laws?

For quick brief, Elon sell Tesla share to fund his twitter acquisition. There is buyer who bought all his share, that buyer is the taxpayer, taxpayer pay the price of the Twitter acquisition. So you wonder how would taxpayer pay the price when nobody is paying taxes? Look at the grocery items you buy on the market, toilet paper food meat vegetable pizza..., the price increased more than twice in two years that’s exactly how you pay the price as a taxpayer to fund the filthy rich and to even break the laws.
First of all, FTT tokens are not shares of FTX company. Secondly, correct me if i am wrong but i don't think it's against the law to sell your shares. Lying about that how your company is solvent however is.

And elon has been charged for securities fraud and stock price manipulation. He is just so fucking rich that until they will give him serious record breaking fees as a consequence for his actions, he will keep doing what ever he pleases.
2785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't buy altcoins because they are top altcoins on: January 01, 2023, 01:53:55 AM
Thing is, historically, even if most of them died, if you just had bought most of them, you would still be heavily in profit. And i am referring to this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5418571.msg61196924#msg61196924

I am not saying that similar moonings for top coins would happen in these marketcap levels as no one knows that, but i am saying that historically, you might not have to pick the right coins if you diverse enough.

2787  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: December 31, 2022, 11:29:09 PM
Luckily we got our new nuclear power plant working in Finland so elecricity is getting cheaper in here. But i have to admit. Since 2018 every year seems to have topped each other on how crappy they are. When you finally think that this can't get any worse you get global epidemic, war, possible recession. Now i am in disbelief figuring out that how this could get any worse and not counting out the nuclear winter anymore. Then again we were riding high and in terms of TA recession was needed for correction. And it needs heavy fundamental reasons to move the markets. Now when that's happened, we can get back up soon?
2788  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance lots of FUD on: December 31, 2022, 11:14:23 PM
I think that it is not FUD, it is security, there are many things that I have not agreed with Binance's behavior, because they are too centralized, and this is what causes me to have more control over people and that is not a good thing, let's train Already the example of FTX, and people no longer want to have their crypto in centralized exchanges because they know that when it is in a centralized exchange things do not go well because the money is no longer the person but the Exhcagene, those things are what People are afraid of losing their money, banks are no longer reliable and neither are Excahgges, I think the safe thing is the same, and the wallets with their private keys.
Well i trust more to Binace's security in the long run then security i can provide for my crypto. I don't have a safe to store my privatekey or have my own guards, i know basic sec op and i am super careful about handling my wallets but if someone really wanted to hack me they probably could. I could store my private key in safe of a bank but that's centralized as well and seems like an extra step for basically same security that binance is build to protect.
2789  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Everton Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: December 31, 2022, 09:10:57 PM
Holy mother of everything sweet, that is 65 BILLION? I mean not million, it's BILLION with a b? That means there was 65 billion bets in a single year here? I remember the times when we had a few billion bets TOTAL here and celebrated that, like I remember the very first billionth bet and the rewards given out because of that here, now you guys are doing 65 billion in a single year? That means you guys get more than one billion bet per week, and that's just insane, I wouldn't think that any casino would have such a huge amount of betting in a single year ever.

This sounds like the highest ever recorded in history, I don't have data to back that up, but does feel like that for sure.
Since people don't often grasp such a big numbers, with a quick calculation that's 2061 bets per second during that year.

This makes me think that their help desk must be a huge army of people and sets on whole new light to people who seem to be entitled in here and demanding instant service and personal line to Drake or something.
2790  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|🎁XMAS PARTY for $1 200 000| Win Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Crypto😎 on: December 31, 2022, 08:56:38 PM
the question is not the good performance or not of the casino, the question is what is the usefulness of this BFG token, what does the BFG have that is better than Litecoin for example? than ETH for example? why would a whale buy the BFG? because someone would buy to create an account on an exchange and run the risk of going through KYC on that exchange and after buying the BFG go to play at the BetFury.io casino while that person could simply take BTC or LTC or any other altcoin and then play on BetFury .io? what is the point of a casino creating its own altcoin when in this market there are already many altcoins?
-cut-
Fast answer to this is easy: because BFG has a different model then most tokens.

Meaning that Betfury is paying dividends in BTC, ETH and many other altcoins for the BFG holders. At the start ot was a good incentive for playing at the start and frankly only thing that kept me playing.

However, they messed up the tokenomics, there's no telling if they change it in the future or how burning mechanism will work after team has burned "enough" tokens. Idea was good, excection and communiation was not. At the moment they wouldn't need BFG imho but if they now got rid of it, that would be just changing the rules in the middle of the game and a huge middle finger to investors that were promised profits for it. Probaby a good change for a lawsuit as well.
2791  Economy / Economics / Re: Happy New Year "residents" bitcointalk !!! :) on: December 31, 2022, 05:23:06 PM
Happy New year from Finland and Slava Ukraine OP.

I have a terrible flu so i'll be celebrating my new year by looking fireworks behind the window, drinking hot chocolate with whip cream, gambling some, and browsing internet, while playing far cry 6 and making sure that my dog doesn't get freaked out by the noise and loud bangs coming from outside.

Tonight i'll be leaving those altcoin charts and new nfts alone. My portfolio can survive trough the new year without 24/7 management, least i hope so.
2792  Economy / Economics / Re: Rich Mindset vs Poor Mindset : 6 key differences on: December 31, 2022, 05:14:13 PM
There are so many over simplified issues in this that i just have to respond

🗝️🗝️ Rich people make money work for them. Instead of just working and relying on income, a rich person would take a proportion of their income and invest it but the poor people are said to work for money. A poor person sees $1000 as just $1000. A poor person works paycheque to paycheque for the rest of their life. They neither save nor invest any part of their income. 🗝️🗝️
This is just not true, i know several people that i consider relatively poor and they have their savings on stocks etc. This is just rich peoples idea of a poor people.

🗝️🗝️ Rich people spend on necessities and what is needed not what is desired. A rich person with a perfectly functioning phone would not need to spend money on a new one. A truly rich person does not care about trends, they care about net worth. Poor people spend on both necessities and desires. A poor person spends beyond their means. They care about the latest trends, not about net worth. 🗝️🗝️
Oversimplifying. Obviously you are not going to spend all of your money if you are going to save it, but it isn't as simple as this. Everyone who has been poor knows that poor people wear what they can afford to wear because they can't afford to buy over their budget, and use only what they need. Some of them are depressed and see no point in saving but that isn't a mindset you can easily change.

🗝️🗝️ Rich people think of a long-term goals but poor people set at best short-term goals or none. They do not see the necessity of long-term goals such as money for future living. 🗝️🗝️
Lot's of poor people plan for the future and for their children's future, so this is false claim.

🗝️🗝️ Rich people tend to be risk takers but poor person is more likely to be risk averse. For example, when given an opportunity to invest in a startup, poor people are more likely to immediately turn this down. They do not see this as a chance to increase wealth. They see this as a reduction of their disposable income. 🗝️🗝️
I know many poor risk takers, that's why they are poor now.

🗝️🗝️ Rich people are eager to learn but the poor people are not eager to learn. Most millionaires in the United States were not born millionaires, they learnt how to build wealth. The more they learn, the more they understand the world. 🗝️🗝️
I would like to see a study that how many of these people were born in first world countries with a safety net only rich countries can provide, because i am thinking if it's not 100% it's still going to be pretty high.
2793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Excessive greed is detrimental to investment on: December 31, 2022, 04:46:44 PM
When I was new to cryptocurrency I was totally ignorant about market prediction, volume, future plans.  Then I invested in some cryptocurrencies.  After a few days of investment, I made quite a few dollars.  But due to little knowledge about the market and excessive greed, I did not sell the crypto currencies I invested in the market at that time.  So currently I am at a loss of $14000.  Now I have no alternative but to wait for a long time.  Finally I would like to say one thing from my real life, don't get too greedy in cryptocurrencies and hold any particular coin for a long time.  It has the possibility of much more loss than profit.
I have noticed during my time in crypto that it's harder to sell when you are going up then buying when going down. Also it's easier to sell the bottom out of frustration. When our coin is going up we often  like to think that this is our ticket to financial freedom, and we stop looking for other coins. At that moment we think ourselves as genius investors and that this is new normal. There's no way thig would

when everyone is saying it's crazy to sell now, and you think that there's no way this could go down, you feel like an idiot to sell it, even if you have made 100x profits with it. That's because our brains is looking for more that dopamine, and when it was the coin we hodl that brought it, we get attached to it and don't want to let go.

In a same way when the coin goes down totally rekt we start to build negative feelings towards it and it's easier to let go.
2794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most newbies don't know this on: December 31, 2022, 04:25:49 PM
I don't think OP's statement is correct, because when you generate 2nd wallet from metamask, it will also give you a private key, and if hacker doesn't own it, nobody can access the second account. If you accidentally delete the metamask wallet and don't back up the private key of the 2nd wallet and only store the 1st wallet, you won't have access to your 2nd wallet either. They are still 2 separate wallets and have nothing to do with each other.
But doesn't metamask store all those private keys behind the recovery phrase? I mean what would the point of the recovery phase of metamask be if you couldn't access to all your wallets you have opened in there. Naturally you can export and import accounts from and to metamask by private keys, but those privatekeys stay on your metamask until you remove them. Right?
2795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT ?? What do you think about it ? ? ? on: December 31, 2022, 03:45:02 PM
Indeed, most altcoins does not have a real use case, but as to NFT - the percentage of no use case is many times more. As an investment, any altcoin is much better than NFT. Even an altcoin without use case is better than NFT. Because you at least try to substantiate why buyer should look at your altcoin and buy it, while NFT - it is just a picture. Try convince someone to buy NFT that you have. Because NFT is only a hype, but any altcoin it is at least an idea and attempt of a technology behind it.
Well i agree to disagree, as i don't see an idea or any new tech under majority of altcoins or tokens. In fact i see them more dishonest as they are often claiming to solve something that doesn't need solving. While collectables don't pretend to be anything else what they are. They are similar to doge in that way.

There are altcoins that are actually doing something interesting, but one can see erc721 and 1155 interesting as well.

that's for sure. the refugees will more than likely to buy BTC after receiving USDC. its gonna be a free money turned investment.

Some of these people have lost everything and bitcoin is the last thing on their mind right now. Their relatives are lost to the enemy and rest of them are being brutally attacked, people are dying left and right and only things mattering now is survival and some stabilitility.

It would be pretty reckless and irresponsible for any parent put their money needed to feed and clothe their children to some speculative and volatile asset right not.
Asset that's under heavy opposition because of the energy crisis.

What these families need now is stability, safety and peace. Not to play with the most volatile markets out there, so please have some sensitivity and don't push bitcoin or any other crypto to them as long this war is ongoing.
2797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SBF released, Will Solana ($SOL) come back? on: December 30, 2022, 10:25:09 PM
Well this time, I don't think SOL have any chances of recovering knowingly fully well how deeply connected SOL is with FTX and the whole shambles that happen to it developers and owners.this situation have affected the entire cryptocurrency market and Even ethereuem is also suffering from the aftermath of the November FTX bankruptcy crisis, San bankman-fred is facing fraud, money laundering charges and possible 10 years jail terms this event have lead to many project crashing, so I believe that there will be worst days ahead for SOL and no matter the bullish statement from any individual, it price may not recover since cryptocurrency trustees and this situation have betrays the little trust investors hard for centralized projects.
I am not saying it would be fast or easy ride back to top. It always take a lot of time for investors get their confidence back, especially when we look at the facts and what brought the market down.

And in the new bull run lot's of people won't even remember how this fear on the bear run felt or why on earth they didn't buy the bottom. It takes a lot of stupid bravery to invest the bottom, because most of the time it isn't the bottom.
2798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting events in 2022 on the crypto market on: December 30, 2022, 09:27:48 PM
I am a bit surprised in that as in comparison, Kwon Do-Hyung walks free while his actions caused market to drop more then FTX.
And no one in the media seems to even care. Everyone is so focused on Sam. I guess he is more media sexy with all these rumors circling over him and FTX.
And i don't see similar hate towards Kwon Do-Hyung from the community either, even though he was arrogant and annoying the whole time.

2799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling For Fun - What Does This Mean To You? on: December 30, 2022, 09:14:45 PM
I personally think that the phrase "gambling for fun" is widely misunderstood by many gamblers.
They think gambling for fun means gambling without any interest or hunger for profit, no body enjoys loosing money, and this in the other way simply means, loosing money is never fun, but how we choose to react is what makes the difference...
I wil tell you all what gambling for fun means to me personally..

Here Is What Gambling For Fun Mean To Me
To me, gambling for fun simply means - gambling, with hopes of making profit, but with the consciousness that if the profit does not come, I choose not to react negatively to the loss, or allow the loss way me down or make me feel bad, I just focus/put/fix my mind on the fun I had playing the game rather than focus or fix my mind on the money I lost.

If gambling for fun means gambling without any need or hope of making profit, why throw away or waste my money then? I would just put the game in a demo mood and play - I believe a lot of casinos have this feature.
But like I explained above, gambling for fun for me is not gambling with no interest in making profit, in gambling for fun, I hope to make profit, but I just consciously don't make the profit a priority, this means that if at the end of the game, I make a profit, i am happy, because I hoped for it, but if I don't make profit, I am not sad, I am not unhappy, because it wasn't a priority, and for me not to feel sad, I get my mind off the money lost and focus on the fun I had playing the game - Being happy is a choice, I hope we all know this.

So over to you now, what does gambling for fun mean to you as a gambler,? As I know that this phrase might mean different things for different people, would like to know what your understanding is on this.
Well said, and obviously it should be played like that. Getting depressed because you lose is by definition not playing for fun.
When you get depressed of your losses, you were either gambling with too high stakes or weren't prepared for loss.
But same thing applies when trading. Only bet what you can lose (preferably with a smile on your face) And always be prepared for loss.

It might not bring you big profits but least you are not losing too much and later you'll be thanking yourself showing strength. And i often play with demo mode too, just to get familiar with new slots or getting that "need to click some buttons and see some bright lights" out of my system, which is at least quarter of the fun.
2800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs is looking to buy crypto, why? on: December 30, 2022, 06:52:21 PM
....Why would one of the biggest investment banks in the world want to buy FTX's scraps?

Sources:

https://www.reuters.com/technology/goldman-sachs-hunt-bargain-crypto-firms-after-ftx-fiasco-2022-12-06/
You must have misunderstood the news article. It didn't say they will buy what's left of FTX but they will buy or invest in cryptocurrencies because the prices are down as a result of the FTX implosion. These banks are business opportunists at the end of the day and will take a calculated risk if a chance presents itself.
Of didn't say that they were buying FTX, but crypto companies. There's no talk in the articles that they would invest in cryptocurrencies but cryptocurrency companies, and those are down because of the case FTX .

And why they do this? They see that they can get them almost free and they are in it for the long term. Many crypto companies also might have better fundamentals then most cryptos and actual value behind them. Even if they are now having hard times.
