281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy when market is Red on: March 11, 2018, 04:19:37 AM
While not a 100% guarantee, this can definitely be a useful method to utilize the volatility of the market; buying in the red can yield a higher profit later, whether you sell in the green or hold onto your funds.

Don't fall into FOMO, you are right where you need to be and right now you've taken the first step and sought out some advice, congrats! Read up on different discussions on this forum and break it up into parts for yourself. Learn the basics of btc, why it was created, what blockchain technology is, and then move up to learning how to purchase btc, how to sell, and what a transaction entails--choose an exchange you'd like to work with at this point. After that start learning about wallets and how to keep your btc safe. Admittedly, I oversimplified things, but the key is to take your time during this introductory phase. After all, you don't want to invest in something you know nothing about. The crypto space is constantly changing so it's normal to feel overwhelmed, take in as many perspectives and opinions as you can/want but in the end form your own!

Cheers!

283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Specific list of risks of bitcoin on: March 10, 2018, 04:15:39 AM
Good post, we focus so much on the benefits that we rarely think of the risks involved with adopting btc. We can only hope as crypto becomes more ubiquitous that many of these issues will be tackled. As of now, the most you can do as an individual is protect yourself from numbers 1 and 7 by being meticulous at the time of transactions and prioritizing security.
284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet is the best? on: March 09, 2018, 06:16:30 PM
Hardware wallets are a very secure option (especially if you're going to hold a lot of funds) because they are generally offline. Some of the top ones are Ledger Nano, Trezor, and KeepKey.
If you're looking for long-term storage of BTC, you can try a paper wallet which are also very secure due to being offline, as long as you don't lose it. For this, you can check out WalletGenerator or BitcoinPaperWallet.
You can also use a software wallet like Exodus, Jaxx, or Electrum, but you'll have decreased security. You can install them directly only our computer, but require more maintenance in the form of backups.

Hope this helps!
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: solving bitcoin's weakness?? on: March 08, 2018, 10:58:16 PM
Definitely what crypto's need to become "mainstream." The team looks pretty solid I wonder if they can be the one's to solve the stablecoin issue, they certainly have set themselves apart from other platforms currently tackling this. If you're a crypto believer I'd say they merit following from now on! Nice find.
286  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW DO I GET MERIT? on: March 08, 2018, 10:33:59 PM
It's about patience and providing quality posts on top of everything else. The merit will come, don't you worry. Helping others has a profound rippling effect that will eventually make it's way back to you! Learn from the discussions, ask questions, and then contribute when you think you can!

Cheers!

From some research they are legit, one of the big exchange sites in China. It has similar negative reviews that you'll find for most exchanges. That said, it primarily caters to chinese citizens and it's known for not being too user-friendly for international customers. I'm not sure how much of an issue that is for you.

Hey BitBuk,

There was a discussion about this a couple years back. It seems there are legitimate btc mixing services out there, check it out:

290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best way to advertise your product/services offered in bitcoins? on: March 07, 2018, 08:15:06 AM
If you have a website, something as simple as including a Bitcoin promo image would help and if you want people to be able to find you on a "search," then you'll need to be aware of good seo practices. As others have said, it would be helpful to make an announcement on the service announcement sub-forum here on bitcointalk or on other sites where there are discussions taking place, such as reddit. The same goes for social media. The key is getting your service out there, but try not to look and sound "spammy"--you see a lot of that in the bitcointalk service sub-forum already, keep your message concise and consistent.

check the link out below from bitcoin.com, it has some good information on how to promote yourself to the cryptocurrency community:

291  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Should I get a hardware wallet ? on: March 07, 2018, 03:24:04 AM
If you are storing a large amount of funds, you can't go wrong with a hardware wallet, especially the Ledger. Hardware wallets are more secure because they are built around the same technology that you find in chip and PIN payment cards or SIM cards which raise the level of security of your private keys.

Hope this helps  Smiley
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold out or sell Bitcoin? on: March 07, 2018, 03:15:58 AM
It depends what your long term goal is. If you are day-trading, typically people sell when their currency is high and buy when it's low, thus profiting short-term. However, if you're trying to maintain a long-term investment, it would be advisable to hold onto it. It's very volatile and understandably causes doubt when you see it fluctuating so much, but the BTC pattern is that it always inevitably rises again. Don't put in money that you can't afford to lose, and if you allow it to grow, you never how how high it could go.
293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to start with Bitcoin? on: March 06, 2018, 07:40:19 PM
You're in the right place! You'll find a ton of resources on here that will help get you started; BlockGeeks or CoinDesk are good sources to utilize. Whether you want to do some day-trading for quick profits, or invest long-term, you'll do well learning as much as you can in order to be successful. Hope these guides help!

294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I trade coin at the beginning ? on: March 06, 2018, 07:34:23 PM
First of all, welcome! It's definitely possible to learn how to trade coins (look into BitStamp or GDAX). However, if you want less risk with your money, it's advised to start small, learn about market trends, which coins are doing well, etc. You can start buy purchasing some of the main coins through Coinbase...it's not the best for day-trading since the fees are higher, but it'll give you a good idea of how everything works.

Hope this helps! Good luck  Smiley
295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much bitcoin can exist in the world? on: March 06, 2018, 01:25:52 AM
correct, unlike fiat, there is a finite supply of btc which is calculated to be just under 21 million. And it's the fact that there is a finite supply that makes many believe that the price of btc will only continue to rise...over the long run.
296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best platform for treading? on: March 06, 2018, 12:57:56 AM
Tough one to answer since there are so many out there nowadays but i'd suggest looking into Binance. Not a bad option for beginners and they're becoming increasingly popular due to the large variety of coins they support and their low fees. One thing to note though, they do not accept fiat deposits.

Cheers!
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum surpassing Bitcoin? Newbie concern on: March 05, 2018, 06:19:33 PM
Cool article, interesting perspectives, always take these sorts of "philosophies" with a grain of salt, though. It's good to research and take in as many different perspectives as you can but ultimately no one can truly foresee the trajectory of any coins. Ethereum as a platform poses a lot of benefits for society that go beyond supporting a currency. As another post mentioned, the two coins are completely different in their purpose thus it's hard for them to really compete, not to mention we can't truly argue that we've seen the full potential of btc yet either. These are exciting times. Keep up on both eth and btc as much as you can and don't fear!

Cheers!
298  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: beginner on: March 05, 2018, 05:38:25 AM
It's important to know as much as you can before you start trading, so read up on the basics first: If you're just starting out, check out some links on the basics of BTC: http://bit.ly/Bitcoin101Guide
..but once you're ready, start with some simple exchanges such as Coinbase. Once you get the hang of recognizing market trends, head over to a more in depth platform such as GDAX and you can implement different methods for profiting. This link might help you too, it includes examples of the different types of cryptocurrencies and what they are designed to do:

299  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I start trading? on: March 05, 2018, 05:29:51 AM
I would suggest if you're new to all of it, start small by buying some coins through Coinbase. It's a very user-friendly application that not only allows you to buy and sell, but also monitor the market trends for BTC, ETH, BCH and LTC. Once you get the hang of it, try a more in-depth trading platform such as GDAX. If you want a more detailed guide on getting started, maybe this link will help you out:

Good luck Smiley

Whether or not it's profitable depends on how much you're willing to spend. Factors like Mining hardware or electricity costs vary. If you want more information on how to calculate these types of costs, you can check out this link:
