281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Satoshi was revealed to be Charles Manson on: June 07, 2015, 07:08:27 PM
I think it is incredibly unlikely that Satoshi is someone famous or someone that we have heard of before.  In fact I am leaning towards the "group of people" theory at this point.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would miners change to 20MB blocks if they are geting revenues from fees ? on: June 06, 2015, 08:56:48 PM
The problem is that fees would have to increase quite a bit to slow trafic down enough for 1mb, at least they are projecting that in a year or two.  So you either pay a high fee which defeats one of the major advantages of bitcoins, you can flee to an alt, or you can just say f-it and go back to fiat.  Personally I think that not increasing the block size is in everyone's worst interest.
283  Other / Off-topic / Re: Deep Web on: June 06, 2015, 08:54:05 PM
Dont try visit a deep websites or else they track you and kill you Cheesy Hahahaha deepweb was a websites that goverment or some cindicate that they are trade for drugs or other illegal items

I had to use this to express myself correctly. The deep web is part of the internet that isn't accessible to conventional search engines and consequently to most users. The deep web isn't a website. It's a whole level under the surface web; it's primarily for advanced used and the majority aren't even aware of its existence.
A part of me still hopes that you were kidding.

Besides, this thread is about the movie.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Web_(film)

The thread should be in the off topic section though.

Woah, I never heard of the deep web before.  Now I have to go google it, and then the nsa will send the fbi to arrest me and charge my house with indecent exposure to confiscate it so they can buy margarita machines.
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World’s Bitcoin Exchanges Track and Report Customer Activity on: June 06, 2015, 08:49:24 PM
I have used btc-e before and had no problems, but only once.  People here talk a lot of smack about them, but never really give any specifics.  One guy said that you shouldn't use and Chinese exchange because of Chinese culture.  WTF is that supposed to mean?  I pretty much disregard this stuff unless specific evidence is brought to support the accusations.

Some people say that we shouldn't trust BTC-e because the identity of the owners are not known. They are only known as "Alexei" and "Alexander", and it is known that they are Russian citizens from the city of Moscow. Earlier they were based in Kiev (Ukraine), but later shifted their operations to Sofia (Bulgaria).

IMO, why we should bother about the real ID of the BTC-e owners? The identity of the Mt Gox owner was known to everyone. Did that prevented him from running away with $600 million worth of coins and cash?

Thanks!  That seems like a pretty flimsy reason to not use btc-e.  What do I care who runs it?  What I care is if the business is legit, provides a good service, and won't go out of business or somehow run off with my coins.  The have a good presence in bitcoins so it seems silly to me that they would somehow scam users.  They stand to make FAR more as a legitimate exchange then as a one timer scam site.  I could be wrong I guess.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Booty Girls !!! on: June 06, 2015, 08:45:12 PM
I am not sure how effective this will be at promoting bitcoins and cryptos but what the heck you can't go wrong with wet boobs.  This "promotion" seems to be on the fence of mainstream promotion and the shady crap that bitcoin is known for.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: June 06, 2015, 06:31:58 PM

You have a chance in the court to get your assets back, according to the article

Ironic. When Finnish Customs confiscated all my assets (mainly gold and silver back in 2008), I was so accustomed to my friends' stories from the states, that I was sure I would not get them back. The still ongoing Liberty Dollar seizure and theft was a recent example.

I got all back.

Levelheaded analysis is required whether there is an actual chance to get the stuff back. Most Internet commentators do not really know the details so much that their opinion should be valued, me included.

Fighting for your stolen property also distracts you, so if there is a higher goal in your life, one option is to strategically ignore them. That's what I do when I don't file for tax returns, in effect paying the taxman more than even they think is needed. I have more important goals in my life, and my past decisions have reduced the taxes to quite manageable level.

As Christians, you might appreciate the history how an unjust treatment may become a financial blessing. I hardly had €100k in assets at the time when they were confiscated. God turned the publicity of this harsh treatment to a success to my business, and I made it to millionaire ranks in the following 2 years. (Joseph story in the Bible is a more striking example of course.. I feel more like Jacob who became Israel through a lifelong process)

Yeah, but that doesn't happen in this country. Our government just bailed out a bunch of wealthy auto manufacturers and big banks. Someone has to pay for it and Burt won the federal gimme your money lottery.

Oh, this country isn't really Christian. We call ourselves that because it makes us feel better. We worship money and pray to God. We incarcerate more of our citizens than any other nation in the world. We have no problem with them living like dogs in overcrowded prisons, ass raping each other and eating food the good christian citizens wouldn't feed their dogs. Our military drones kill people around the world without a trial even if their are noncombatant women and children in the house too. Our soldiers brutalize other countries raping their women and forcing the men to pile up naked for our amusement. The good christian citizens of this great nation, pound for pound, purchase more illegal narcotics than any other three nations combined. We have a higher volume of rape and abortion than we good Christians like to admit publicly. We have more pedophiles than any other developed nation. Finally, we are the only nation in the world that has ever used nuclear weapons to destroy entire cities of men, women and children. Does that sound like a Christian country? Oh, wait a minute, Christians have been evil throughout history, so I guess it does!

Bravo sir, you have stated exactly what I mean when I say things like "of course i pay my taxes, how else are ew going to blow up all those brown people?"  It makes me sick and I am glad that I am not the only one who is not stuck in an American suburban bliss.

Why you guys still didnt have OP in ignore is beyond me .......

Aside: Love your sig.

Oooooh, off topic, BUSTED!

OK so I know the OP is trolling or whatever, but there is a really good interview with Gavin that other people reading this thread might be interested in.  He talks about the problem, why it is a problem, sidechain tech, etc.  Check it out!
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia traffic statistics: "Bitcoin" on: June 06, 2015, 05:53:53 PM
Gah!!! Zombies!!!!

Is this what you are looking for?  That was the first result from google, if it isn't exactly what you want I am sure you can find other sources of the data.  Sorry if this isnt what you wanted, it is possible I misunderstood.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World’s Bitcoin Exchanges Track and Report Customer Activity on: June 06, 2015, 05:50:39 PM
Yes you are right. Unfortunately exchanges are gathering every bit of information about their users. Not just high profile large scale traders. Everything is within theirs databases.
We can be sure that these info will be shared with government as previously US government admitted that they received personal information of every MtGox user and probably will be using this info to point bitcoin users and tax them in the future.

That's why I have always supported exchanges such as BTC-e, which respects the privacy of their users. But as usual, whenever I post something supporting them, people here argue that these sites are not safe, and sites where anonymity is not permitted are much more risk-free. And what happened in the end? No one lost their money in BCT-e. On the other hand, their main rivals (Mt Gox) made a lot of Bitcoiners bankrupt.

Scan your PC for viruses, or if you want to be 100% safe format your entire hard drive, something got compromised somehow. Use another secure device to change your passwords on important things (e-mail,wallets, etc).

Malwarebytes has a free virus scanner, and it is supposed to be really good.  Just in case you don't already have virus software.
291  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you approve that bitcoin monitize bills or coins on: June 06, 2015, 05:44:54 PM
Hi, like they said you might want to check for a sub forum in your native language.  A confirmation is basically a check that the payment has been processed.  Most places I have used bitcoins online require 1-2 confirmations, sometimes as many as 6 depending on the circumstances.
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World’s Bitcoin Exchanges Track and Report Customer Activity on: June 06, 2015, 08:14:04 AM
Another reason for filing tax information to the governments!

Be a nice guy.

Yeah.  Someone has to pay for the expense of blowing up all those brown people.  Sometimes it makes me sick what my taxes go to.

And wtf, why put them in jail just burn all the pedos at the steak.  Fing evil bastards.

It's hard to track and trace Bitcoin transactions to a single person. However, transactions to and from addresses can be traced, but it is hard to know who owns what addresses. It can be very anonymous when done correctly.

Care to share a link?   Grin
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NYC man robbed of bitcoins on: June 06, 2015, 08:04:45 AM
Why would anyone publish such a fake article?

I hope this is not the setting of a precedent.
294  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: chinese exchanges reject 20mb block size increase on: June 06, 2015, 07:54:12 AM
Ok, this might sound like a conspiracy theory... but I would like to put it out there. {Sorry if I sound like a idiot}

Let's say China wants a bigger percentage of the pie... with Bitcoin as it is now, everyone concentrate efforts on a single coin.

If a fork happens, the resources would have to be split, and this will give China a better chance to control it's own currency. {fork}

The part I am not clear on, is this .... Will Bitcoin mining still mine one coin or do they choose between Bitcoin Core or XT?

The exchanges might be gearing up for the fork they want to dominate? As I said, this is only a conspiracy theory based on flawed knowledge. { I am still researching this part }

Let's just play with the idea...

OK um I think some people are misunderstanding what will happen here.  If there is a 50/50 split, or a 20/80, or 30/70, or whatever, nothing happens.  The new version is not adopted.  There will not be multiple versions of bitcoin, coins will not be doubled, and everything will have rainbows.  If there is 90% or whatever then the fork will happen, and the other 10% will join or die.
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A small community on an island, use Bitcoin or create an Alt? on: June 05, 2015, 02:42:44 PM
Clams.  Obviously they would have to use clams as their currency.  It would be an easy one to use and as a bonus they could gamble with them if they get bored.
296  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ID verification on: June 05, 2015, 06:48:33 AM
If you want it to be anonymous your best bet might be localbitcoins.com.  I never used the site because in my area the markup is pretty high. The site seems to be well regarded here, I don't ever remember reading something negative about it.
297  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Circle is the Circle Of HELL! on: June 05, 2015, 06:34:59 AM
I was thinking of trying it too.  Has anyone else had problems with circle?  Maybe it will get better with development.  Good customer service is always a good sign for new companies like this.  If they listen then they will very likely make improvements to the app over time.  I think in the near future we will see more of these apps being developed.
298  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoin arbitrage and trading on: June 05, 2015, 06:29:37 AM
I think the best arbitrage opportunity you can find on altcoins is when a coin gets pumped on one exchange but not another.  But it happens really fast, and I am sure that there are already bots looking for this.  I think it would be really difficult to do without a bot.
299  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Why do you invest in a Ponzi? on: June 05, 2015, 06:21:46 AM
The idea is to be first in and first out.  A well run ponzi can be sustained for quite a while.  The down side is that you profit when someone else loses.  Also there is no guarantee of any payout, so the admin running the ponzi can just take the money and run.  I would suggest that you not participate because it is easy to lose everything.  If you must play a ponzi then be sure to use only the money you are willing to lose, and assume that you will lose it.

Is there a limit on where it can be shipped?  I will enter for fun, this is a GREAT way to promote yourself.  Whoever came up with this promotion is a genius Smiley
