281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: December 13, 2013, 09:24:48 AM
Anyone know why stablecoin price is falling so fast?
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: QRK prediction ? on: December 13, 2013, 04:38:47 AM
There are 246 million quarks. So for it to reach the price of where litecoin is now it would have to reach $3.2

Thinking about it that looks unlikely. I take it too many people own lots of shares?

Was quark really cheap in the beginning and few people loaded up on all the shares?
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 13, 2013, 03:10:56 AM
Why was stable coin removed from the list?
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 13, 2013, 01:23:09 AM
I agree with everyone about not being too greedy and missing the bottom. This was my big mistake in 2011 that I regret now, but I learned from it.

Seems like the accepted and probable best low we will get is around $600. I figured a low of $300 to $500, so since I always undershoot it will be around $600 maybe even only $700.

Probably the best strategy at this point is to just sit the market out now and wait. Only buy bitcoins if its heading north for a good reason. We will probably sit back and watch it slowly keep dropping.

The speculation forum has really slowed up recently, and mt gox volume is the lowest I have seen it at only 9730 bitcoins. Seems to be dropping and dropping. The speculative boom is ending quick and many people will probably be slowly cashing out as it takes a long time getting your money from these exchanges.

Could be years before another bitcoin bubble happens.

285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does this forum need subforums? on: December 12, 2013, 07:26:50 PM
Seems like the mods are afraid of alt-coins and how well they are doing. They probably just want to protect their bitcoin investments.

Only reason I can see them being against expanding alt-coins.
286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 07:07:40 PM
My guess: a lot of people will chose 400-500 as the final bottom and they will be dead wrong.

Wrong in that it will bottom lower or wrong in that it will never reach that point?
287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 06:43:45 PM

Seriously. If you want in the market, you will surely get a chance for cheap(er) coins in the next few months. Don't be greedy and wait for an unrealistic bottom or you will miss out when it starts going back up again.

What would an unrealistic bottom be? $600?

I think it could easily fall to $600. And it has fallen that low after the $1200 high.

You have to take certain things into account here. Less than a year ago bitcoin traded at $13. For most of 2012 it traded less than $13.
Now it has jumped up to crazy levels. Has the demand really increased that much? Are the buyers there to continue to pay these high prices for coins and cash out the people who want out?

New money entering into the market is definitely not the reason why the price is so high. It is ridiculously hard to get money safely into bitcoins and especially at high amounts. I know because I recently had to do it, and this was after Dwolla stopped being a way to transfer money.

The high price bitcoin reached will have many bitcoin holders hoarding their coins as the price drops and will cause the price to stay higher. This is really the hardest thing to predict for a bottom is how current holders value their coins and if they will simply just not sell them.

I am thinking if the price starts to decline more into the $700's many people will wake up and realize that bitcoin price has just reached too high and they are quickly losing their chances to cash out when the price is still ridiculously high.

288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do you guys keep track of all your alt-coins on: December 12, 2013, 06:31:01 PM
Just wondering how you guys stay organized.

How do you keep track of all of them?

Do you write down what you paid for each coin?

Should their be a limit on how many you keep at the exchanges? Should you pull them out immediately and store them in your wallet?

289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 06:20:57 PM

700 seems plausible during these holidays. But once new year comes over and people start working, expect it to rise to new heights.

This kind of logic never really works out.

Hey accord01, you wrote these reasons in another post about why you think it is going to fall. How far do you give it?

1) double top at ~1200, closing in on triple top

2) no more money coming in from china

3) latest rally/bounce overbought like crazy

4) over 7 million bought is funds from bitfinex leveraged positions going long.

5) There is absolutely not enough new money to sustain this rally...

6) heavy hitters have their fingers ready for the trigger, as well as smart bulls and all the bears.

290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 06:02:29 PM
I have no idea.

Why is that? Because the price has been so unpredictable lately or you think it can really go either way?
291  Economy / Speculation / Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 05:58:03 PM
Please only serious posts by bears only. I need a discussion on how far you think this price will drop.

I am slowly buying bitcoins for non-bitcoin investments that are somewhat price related to bitcoins. I am only investing in non-bitcoin investments which are still cheap even if bitcoin falls below $300.

I personally believe the price is still way too high and all the signs are pointing for a big drop. Volume is also super low which usually means further drops are coming. Bitcoin has been nothing but weak the last few days and I expected the price to be in the $700's when I woke up this morning.

How far do you think this will one go until the price finally stabilizes? I am thinking around $300-500, since I always undershoot it will probably fall in the $600's.

What are you guys thinking? Where do you see bitcoin finally falling and stabilizing at?
292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Trend Forming on 4 Hour Chart? on: December 12, 2013, 07:06:07 AM
don't compare it  to april because  there are some very important differences
- lack of early adopters
-  much lower fold in respect to floor ( 10 -> 266, 100 -> 1300 )
- and what most important China effect
Did  anyone here  noticed a huge volume in general  when  you add all exchanges. I can risk statement that we are "in summer" now when you look at this factor.
Changes are more rapid, back then a crash  needed 6 months  to unload. Now  the same  job is done within  days.
And it wasn't really  comparable  crash in magnitude and overall reception.
In my opinion someone is  simply  probing how strong  support is  and  its why  we are  falling. but  believe me or not sentiment is  still positive and  we  have  room to  go  up.
Only  thing I fear  at this point  is some formal preventive action against bitcoin ecosystem, with  this  exception  I am  bullish  as  never
+1
I can see a lot of positive reactions to btc. People just sell around $1000 because it seems a lot for an electronic coin. It's going to take some time before they get used to price staying above $800 and then we'll go up again.

That's if it stays above $800. Looks weak and low volume.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Which Alt Coin will see the most growth in 2014? on: December 12, 2013, 05:58:23 AM
Do you think NXT is worth investing money in now?
294  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket CEO: Wall Street Will Put 'Hundreds of Millions' Into Bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 01:15:04 AM
I find it hard to believe that any legitimate financial intuition will allow peoples retirement fund to be put into Bitcoins.

I find it hard to believe that you were around during single-digit BTC prices and are not retired on an island somewhere.

the thing you new guys need to understand is that when btc was single digits we actually had to convince ppl that conning someone out of btc was illegal and immoral. that is, it was NOT the same as doing so on eve online or some other video game currency. and there were few legal ways to spend.  no gyft no bitpay with 10k merchants.  with that perspective you may start to understand why early adopters were not investing 10k usd and early miners were happy to get 2 to 10 bucks per coin.

Yup, those times were a lot different. Plus a fall from $30 to $2, when just months before bitcoin was fractions of a pennies. I mean, you literally could buy thousands for almost nothing. A $1.00 seemed to be where it would finally stabilize at. A good bet to almost double your coins than buying at $2.00.

It is easy to say now when bitcoin is $1000 a coin that I was crazy not to buy in the single digits.

The recent booms were partly because years passed and the government didn't shut it down, it didn't get hacked etc. There were all things to worry about at the time. You sure wouldn't want to throw 10K into it.

Although, I still think the prices right now are unsustainable.

295  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket CEO: Wall Street Will Put 'Hundreds of Millions' Into Bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 12:47:51 AM
lol, this is coming from 2nd Market CEO, not reliable.

Why?
This is just an advertisement / press release on behalf of his platform, published on what looks like a source that is not reputable.

Wouldn't getting caught in a big fat lie hurt his little fund which has done fantastic so far? It seems like a big risk to take when you are already doing quite well.

Then again... humans! LOL.
I wouldn't say it's a big fat lie. Just unsubstantiated advertising.

I agree, these type of wallstreet guys always meet up with their friends who are also in the same type of business.

His friends are obviously going to ask him about his type of work and show interest in it because the guy just  made fortunes with the run to $1000.

Are these other hedge fund guys really going to start putting large portions of their clients money into bitcoins, probably not.

Especially with the price of bitcoin slowly dropping from high of 1200's to now 800's. Doubtful that any of them are going to consider bitcoin a good investment when it was only $13 dollars earlier this year.

296  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket CEO: Wall Street Will Put 'Hundreds of Millions' Into Bitcoin on: December 11, 2013, 11:18:06 PM
lol, this is coming from 2nd Market CEO, not reliable.

I was wondering where this information was coming from. What is 2nd market and why is it not reliable?

I find it hard to believe that any legitimate financial intuition will allow peoples retirement fund to be put into Bitcoins.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can we make a child board "speculation" for alternate cryptocurrencies? on: December 11, 2013, 04:49:40 PM
The speculation child board was created for bitcoin in 2011 after too many speculation threads were being made in other areas.

I think it is time that we have a speculation child board for alt-coins as the main board is too filled.

298  Economy / Speculation / Why was that bearish bitcoin price point post deleted? details here on: December 11, 2013, 04:41:04 PM
About 10 hours ago some user came on here and wrote a very good post about the bitcoin price falling. He listed it in about 6  reasons numbered like this giving very good facts about why the price will fall from here. Odd thing is I can't find this post?

1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Some of the reasons that I remember were that some company took a leveraged position (or maybe people used this company to take a leveraged position) into bitcoin (in the millions) and that was the reason for the recent rise.
Also other reasons of weak demand etc.

Maybe someone here remembers seeing this. Weird thing is it was one of the best analysis I have seen that explained bitcoins recent run up to $1000 which has made no sense to me.
I wanted to ask the original poster more about this company or people using a company to take a leveraged position in bitcoins.

Anyway, this post seems to have been deleted. I checked my history and checked all posts in the speculation thread and can't seem to find it. Maybe I missed it though.

Do any of you remember this?
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Trend Forming on 4 Hour Chart? on: December 11, 2013, 04:18:30 PM
Yup, it is looking very weak for bitcoin right now.

It never made sense to me that it rose back up to $1000 so fast. It should really be sub-500.

This recent recovery was a very weak low volume recovery.

Too many people are cashing out and they do it slowly to make sure the exchanges don't rob their bitcoins. There is no way that the demand for $1000 bitcoins is there to cash out all these people.

Think about it $1000 bitcoins, crazy.
300  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are any serious bears rethinking their posotion? on: December 11, 2013, 04:14:04 PM
This thread is the biggest contrarian indicator I have seen to date. Think about it.

I never said I was converting away from being a bear, especially at $1000 dollar bitcoins.
