On Win7, there are different build date options within 4.11.1 which work differently with my R606 and Newpacs etc.  The question I have is what is the build version of the the link that is entered for Pi programming on page 28?  Is there only the one or are there differences such as the Win options?

I'm not real sure what your asking here.  The latest version is what you would build for the Pi.  The Windoze "Options" are the same as the Linux "options".

The current/latest build works best on my Pi 4.  The May 13 version worked best on my Win7 machine, which wasn't great.  The Pi 4 works much better.

I get the date/time stamp and message "Started cgminer 4.11.1" then it freezes for approx 30 secs before saying its either the server, URL, check details or set up workers.  It then cycles between Pool 0 difficulty changed to 10000 and Pool 0 message: Failed auth

Are you entering your pool information with user name?

Post your command line that you are starting CGMiner with.  You mentioned a .sh file too so post the contents of that as well.

Can someone please quote the standard Raspbian OS cmdline.txt as I've messed up.

Code:
dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=serial0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p7 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline fsck.repair=yes rootwait splash plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles slub_debug=FP

I see 3 leds lit so I guess that represents 7?

It's indeed a Pi 3b or 3b+

Your hitting the USB Bottleneck.  Run the R606 on a Pi 4 or a PC running Linux.

I just noticed it adjusted the peak value from 800 to 568. I don't know why it can't go faster maybe it's the USB controller of the raspberry pi that is hitting its limits?
(in speed this varies between 720-830Gh)

That sounds about right for the R606 on Power Level 4.  If you want higher hash rates try increasing the Power Level one step at a time and see what it settles at.  You should probably set your High Frequency range to 750 instead of 800.  At some point you get diminishing returns.  CGMiner autotunes for the best frequency at each power level.

If you have a Pi 3 or earlier then you could be hitting a USB bottleneck at higher power level/frequency.  The Pi 4 has been working better for me.

here is a question. My miner lights are not staying on the current setting (setting 6) instead it flashes 6 then it flashes 1

Flashing power level lights *might be* the overheat warning.  I would shut down till you hear from Sidehack.  Search through the thread as a couple others had issues with the batch 1 units.
287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Terminus R606 on: September 19, 2019, 09:20:05 AM
I would see that, or something similar, on my Windoze PC and my Pi 3.  But on my Laptop running Linux and on my Pi 4 it runs stable.
288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Terminus R606 on: September 19, 2019, 12:56:56 AM

- miner would keep restarting about 5 minutes after reaching 700 mhz but was not changing the target frequency, it was staying at 700 mhz
- after 4 restarts, I decided to move to next setting

What do you mean by "restarting"?

Do you mean the frequency drops and works its way back up to the target frequency?

Your results for Voltage settings 4 and 5 look good.  Curious how you did on Voltage level 6?
290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: September 16, 2019, 11:15:14 PM
what is the freq range that we can attempt to use without breaking the r606?

CGMiner for the R606 auto adjusts to the best performance for each voltage level and frequency combination.

Just set your Frequency to 750 and start on voltage level 4 and see where it settles at, it will most likely be below 750Mhz.  Then move up to the next voltage level and restart  CGminer.  Repeat for each voltage level.  Document what your miner does at each voltage level and then use the combination you like the best.

I only have two R606's.  So if I want to run them in two separate sessions I should be able to use --usb GSI:1 for each session and have it only pick up one device per each instance.  Using the identifier for the other devices you should be able to tell CGMiner what types you want in each instance.

Also the top post has information on how to identify the Bus numbers and use that method.  Also Mstroziers post has info at the bottom of his instructions too.

You can also search through the CGMiner thread on different ways to split devices up.
Sam

Edit: oh Sidehack also gives each device a serial number and VH added an option to specify what S/N you want in each instance, do some searching in this thread, I think, for those command line options.

I’m using Win7 so would the ‘cgminer -n’

This has been my main issue and knowing how to create separate instances isolating devices.

cgminer -n just enumerates your connected USB mining devices.

If you want multiple instances just start additional ones.

Are you asking how to separate devices in the separate sessions?  If so what devices do you have?

But I am going to have to stop posting in this thread as a moderator keeps deleting what I post here - I think 4 or 5 posts now.

Yeah, so are mine which is why I PM'd you.  Feel free to drop a note via PM if you like.

Look at the top post and it shows how to add the commands for the pool information on the command line so that you don't have to do that.  In Windoze it's easiest to create a batch file in Linux create a .sh file or type in the complete command line, Linux remembers command line history through reboots so you don't have to retype it every time.

I might have to get a raspberry pi and try that though I have zero experience using them. My guess is that it is not difficult.

Here's a link to mstroziers instructions step by step instructions.  Also review the top post.

Hello, currently I have 600 TH / s in the mining pool. Does it make sense for solo mining? How long should it take to hit a block?

Are there any guides on how to upgrade a raspberry pi (raspbian) cgminer 4.10 (used for 2PACs) to something that supports the R606?

Yep, check the top post of the support thread and this link for a more detailed procedure

When I was using my Win7 desktop and then laptop my performance was very poor.  So, I would recommend trying on a PC running Ubuntu 18.04 to verify proper operation.  I have no idea what unknown variables MACos brings to the table.

I also have Ubuntu 18.04 on my laptop and they ran perfectly on that OS.

Why is it that T = 550  I can't seem to get it past 550...

On your Pi 4 are you plugging your miner into the USB 3.0 Ports or 2.0 Ports?  Are you plugging directly into the Pi 4 or are you using a Hub?  Do you have other USB devices plugged in?

I'm plugging my R606's directly into the USB 2.0 Ports.  Also my Pi 4 won't boot when the miners are plugged in so I have to boot it then plug in the miners.  I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling about that, but I just discovered that behavior.

Edit: I just did a test with the USB 3.0 ports and got about the same performance as the 2.0.  The unit that previously tuned to 725Mhz did 718Mzh this time but the one running 750 is still doing 750.
299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: August 19, 2019, 09:34:23 AM
How do I get the R606 to run beyond 550 mhz? Even though I specify a target frequency of 600 mhz it refuses to go past 550 mhz. I have a 120 watt power supply so that is definitely not the issue.

Show us your command line.  What are you using for a controller?  What power level are you using?
300  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: August 17, 2019, 08:34:17 PM
are you manually setting the mhz.  I let it auto tune they both got to 550mhz. That is on setting 6.  Using Pi 4 with 4GB.

I'm not sure what you mean by "manually setting the mhz"?

I use the command line option "--gekko-r606-freq 750" to set the frequency.  My batch 2 unit is capable of 750 Mhz on power level 5 and my batch one unit autotunes to 725Mhz or so power level 6.
