I really do not think they are so few, and I do not think it's because more people do not understand it, rather they are not in contact with this type of software development and they are occupied in anothers areas, and consequently if someone paid them to do it the number would multiply considerably.
The question is not who is capable of understanding how everything works but rather who currently understands. Bitcoin, like hundreds of other niche fields, has a large number of people who are capable of understanding how everything works given enough time to study it. But most of those people, like with those other fields, do not take the time to learn everything about it. Regardless, saying that people are capable of understanding how it works is pointless. They are capable, but currently do not, and what is being asked right now is who currently understands everything. I would think IT would be zero, the very first software maybe 1 & in a world with 1's or 0's. The development of building the original concept could be that of one or few, with each new addition to the entire software protocol & like many things in the developing world are not able to be built by one or even few now a days? It would take a lifetime or ten to blueprint the future of our worlds technology from nothing to full understanding, but possible only with the original prototypes (prehistoric lets say) & unlikely that one person or few could create something with so many points of knowledge. So having full understanding of how things work in the world are less & less over the c entries of the world, building a log cabin could be done & building lets say protocols of todays skyscrapers could not be possible by one or few. Same theory with a wagon, but not possible with say a telsa car or space shuttle & just my idea of the possible # of people in the universe that could have full understanding of the bITcoin protocol.

This is the worst vaporware Ive seen in a year.
mutable int nDoS; // you must not have "seen" very many in a whole year hey techcoin devs, if you want to get more votes interduce yourself on https://thecryptochat.net/ and ask for it and community helps you. Thank you for an actual constructive post, have signed up for the site & will search for community help. The Slack or IRC, now Discord & many other sites like thecryptochat.net are good ideas (just like The Cypherpunks back in the day, only not email & in the form of instant messages).

the pool coin???
There is no pool mining of 2GIVE as there is no advantage to it and the wallet doesn't really support it. You wallet is fully capable of mining on it's own. Just setgenerate=1 -dvd What is this referring to? Is the compiled wallet that one downloads able to be run with that switch? If so, how? When I select "Compete for block reward by mining (POS)" there are no specs that show up in the miner that it's doing anything. PoW for 2Give isn't quite the same as normal PoW (no waste of energy), more like a master node type random PoW & everyone with the application online has a chance to earn the PoW reward. The longest online nodes + fastest to mine the PoW send blocks are unique, 1% of any 2Give sends on the blockchain are the PoW & reward anyone with the application online. There are only a few PoW blocks a day right now, but when the 2Give blockchain gets bigger & the 1% PoW starts to reward nodes online... Any thought on creation of a stats page in the wallet, the small icon in the bottom right has limited space to show staking info & know it's possible to show many stats that are very helpful for use of the application. Having seen a quite a few of the stats pages coded in other alternative applications ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) //some of these are accessible, tho a dedicated tab would be a major + to user who want stats information at hand & don't know how to use the RPC console.
Current # of blocks //34603 (Advanced Options > Information tab) Last block time // 58 minutes (Advanced Options > Information tab) Coin Supply //506,110,769 (Debug log) Coin Value //39 satoshis (only found online) Coin Fiat Value //$0.00035 (only found online) Estimated Market Capital //$177,359 (only found online) Number of Connections //66 (nodes bottom right corner battery looking bar next to green check mark) Difficulty //0.0003 ± 4% (green sync check mark shows network difficulty) Network Hashrate //3,329,650.538 2GIVE (online staking only found online) Total Stake Weight //??? (mining calculation of time to stake) only seen when coins mature & would be helpful to see always? Generated+Fees //5,427.60803312 (coins produced per day only found online) Top N addresses //419 (how many 2Give addresses with coins only found online)
Just a thought, since seeing all the stats & info without having to search here or there is a big + in my book ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

HCLivess is there an estimate for mainnet ?
This one gave some old nostalgia on the testnet, mind must be getting forgetful & or this is like 2010-2012 all over again (actually the crypto note coins really had that 2010 feeling to start as well)? That bug logo kinda tells the story of testing this one, not quite the simple 2017 were heading into for easy to use GUI / plug & play interfaces. The cryptonote didn't have the perfect GUI's either in the start, nothing in software has & expecting everyone to learn command line just isn't going to happen. Don't git me wrong, learning from the basics is recommended & not always bad. Learning with things that could have possible value is one of lifes many lessons, make mistakes with this & learn very quickly to make backups often.

Can a couple of you do me a favor and confirm the that this code is working. (install it on your dev environment and see that it is functional. It will take like 10 minutes) https://github.com/CartmanSPC/p2poolIts xpool.net code, one of your pools. I dare say casinocoins only p2pool node. I have tried contacting the author of that repo and pool but to no avail just yet. p2pool nodes are important and i would like to see more p2pool nodes up please. Also whoever is in charge of updating the op and website. Could you bring all your links into december 2016 thanks. (some sites are non existant even) Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response. I am not actively involved in anything crypto these days. Everything I've done is in maintenance mode at this point but yes, the code is working. As far as your question about it connecting to the daemon...make sure there are available connections available. Try stopping the daemon for a bit then starting it back up. Also make sure you are using the right ports (--bitcoind-rpc-port 47970 --bitcoind-p2p-port 47950). Seeing that multipool spike the network many times (other alts in the past), as I was mining on the P2Pool & auto switched to Hash to Cash when the price jump happen. Hash to Cash even shows on their main page, Diff Net Pool Time est. Progress % LTC profit% BTC/Gh 6.36 372.1 Mh/s 9.1 Mh/s 47m 43s 176% 104% 0.0351), xpool also shows the spikes if you change the chart scale from Days to Months & why the P2Pool needs more dedicated miners. //still remember the days of mining pools & the big 51% info charts of BTC

Wow, can't wait for this!! Moar Pie!
BTW you cant just do pie, gotta have milk.
![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Now, if you could buy actual Pies delivered to your door with the coin, Now that would be enticing.
Then the PieMan would be a thing and the PizzaMan would be a thing of the past ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Look what McDonalds has done with Delivery to your door... It's basically making a fortune from it because people are that lazy since they already eat too much McDonalds, that's their Prime goldmine to be honest overweight people who can't be bothered. So if you can bring Hot Pie Delivery Worldwide or even starting off somewhere locally then that would truly be the start of something that can be commemorated rather than just Pizza that's associated with Bitcoin. Even if you employed a handful of crypto people from around the World in various States that would be willing to supply fresh oven baked pies would be a nod in the right direction. BTC = 1 slice of pizza or pie ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif)

U should have updated the OP. Its been a year since cryptsy went belly up, and since its not listed anywhere besides cryptopia, theres a little possibility anyone would ever trade it or try to revive it coz its a shitcoin.
Haha, like the bumps of topics from 2010 & users abandon their accounts (or lost passwords, hacked account, or just plain quit bitcoin) ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) //having redesigned the last update of the OP (as I did to 100's in 2014-2015 for practice), learning BBcode for the forum & always the hoops to jump through to git them to push the updated code (1000's of original post or ANN topics on a forum, who would have thought of just posting a new OP or ANN & not having to PM with the idea that they abandon their account or don't check in for weeks / months / years). I even tried to get developers to push all OP or ANN posted coding to github, thus showing each & every change to links & BBcoding (didn't catch on tho, but would have been great practice of showing both frontend & backend changes to the ones who seek that type of info). Thanks, although that was the first thing that I typed into the console a few times & came back with an error. I did however get it to work with "setgenerate true 4", been finding blocks for a few hours now & seems to be running without any errors.
//if there is an update, would the confirmations be set to something a little more realistic & not 520 (just a thought)?
1. There already has been an update, see the official Slimcoin repository. (No, not that Official Slimcoin repository, this Official Slimcoin repository, specifically, the master branch). 2. OC (original commit) has 500 confirmations. Suggestions for changes to this value are only likely to gain widespread support if accompanied by a clear mathematical treatment describing the rationale for the change.
I have successfully compiled and executed the master branch - slimcoind on Ubuntu 14.04 and slimcoin-qt on Ubuntu 16.04, OS X 10.6.8, Windows 64bit (run on wine). I am currently trying to compile an OS X 10.10 version but am experiencing the same difficulty as others: - if you're on 10.9 and compile against MacPorts libs, ensure MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET is unset. You cannot use the libs from MacPorts to build bitcoin for older systems by setting it. - if you're on 10.8 and below and compile against MacPorts libs, libstdc++ will be used automatically and you shouldn't have any problems. - if you use boost or any other dependency from a different source, check which C++ runtime it uses using otool -L. If it's libc++ and you're on <= 10.8, you need to compile with clang++ -stdlib=libc++. If it's libstdc++ and you're on 10.9 or later, you need to compile with clang++ -stdlib=libstdc++. - if the C++ runtimes used by your dependencies differ, you will have problems.
(They do. I do)
As regards the mining page tab, setting the number of threads via the GUI interface is rather hit and miss atm. afaict, it's either no threads or all threads. According to the code, max threads can be set using the genproclimit configuration directive: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L5384If it doesn't work the way you think it should - raise an issue: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/issues (i.e. on the official unofficial repos). If you're unfamiliar with the ethos of open source code, I can reassure you that issue tickets carrying reports of individual experiences of errors (with at least a little detail) are not automatically perceived as criticism but as potentially valuable diagnostic information. Cheers Graham It looks like you have many fixes in place, just had a look @ the updates & see many improvements. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next release & testing the new improvement updates. Been 2 years since I've tested Slimcoin, the download & sync didn't take long at all (solid state drive & hardwired, not wireless). No problems at all so far, the 500 confirmations was just a thought about wanting to be able to PoB or PoS sooner & have no problem with 500.

//already found one block mining with the GUI, "setgenerate true" only seems to work with 4 & can't change it to 1-3?
Try "setgenerate true 3" Thanks, although that was the first thing that I typed into the console a few times & came back with an error. I did however get it to work with "setgenerate true 4", been finding blocks for a few hours now & seems to be running without any errors. //if there is an update, would the confirmations be set to something a little more realistic & not 520 (just a thought)?

I remember testing Slimcoin, the afterburn staking like PoS was great & just got caught up with the 1000's of others. Would be willing to test Slimcoin again if there is progress & already have a wallet sync'd up since the talk over the last week. Downloaded it, sync'd up & swapped my .dat from years ago. It showed that there was still effective burnt coins, only like 30 on one .dat & 10 on the other. Great concept, but do remember like many others it did have problems with forking or syncing & otherwise worked well.

This coin has a great future. Maybe we need change some parameters or implement some new techs?
Agreed, just need someone who would be willing to make some github changes & compile an update. Maybe start a development address for a dev to update the wallet, like many other coins do? There have been many possible features over the last few years, great thanks to cecilbdemented for helping in the past & keeping the coin going (4.0.0.0 & 4.0.1.0). There was talk about split block functions, but never quite happen & sure that's because of a bounty or lack of community interest. There was no ICO or premine, just a short PoW & a few developers have tried to build upon FireCoin (FIRE). Most ended up abandoning the project because it didn't go anywhere, thought about it many times & looked over the github code myself many times. I know of many options that could be added, but am not skilled in writing code & only learned to read it. Do you know of any developers who would be willing to help if the community built a development FireCoin address to sent them?

Still FireCoin (FIRE) to claim in the faucet: http://cryptoguru.tk/Faucet/index.php?Currency=FIREFaucet address: FJy4bUv5vhmsntHU86WJRaqAkjJmYxKyqR Balance: 229.45240912 Timeout (hours): 12 Total Sent (FIRE): 55.06000000 //Claims Daily Average: 40 Amount Daily Average: 0.5 FireCoin (FIRE) only premium members.free members dont claim this faucet. ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) For 'Premium' currency payments processed once a day, or when claim count reached 100.For 'Free' currency payments processed once a few days.Anyone can claim free FIRE from the faucet, but only Premium (0.01 BTC a month) coins are sent right when the captcha code is entered & are only sent every few days. FIRE was a premium coin for a few months, just like CryptoID block explorer & just without a faucet addition. Hope that clears up the faucet, as it's been going for around 6 months now & still 200+ FIRE to claim. Thought about sending GrinZ a message & changing the 0.01 > 0.1, but having a blockchain with less than 100,000 coins makes 0.01 ideal for faucet claims.

I try to use it to mine a scrypt with a MSI GT 710, but it says plug one (no usb detected) anyone kind enough to figure out what to do?
The official cgminer only mines bitcoin for the last 4 years. Seek help in the altcoin mining section for unofficial forks of cgminer that still mine other coins. Remember the days of cgminer or bfgminer & cgwatcher, oh the good ole days. Now most updates in GUI have made everything plug & play, don't miss the command line of mining years one bit. Somewhat like all software over the years, Windows or Mac & Linux (Linux greatly changing over the years, most people in the world don't even know there's that many operating systems). //Still testing with low end GPU's was a bit of fun, but quickly overtaken by new hardware & or new technology
