281  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BTC +1000%] Try NiceHash.com pool, INSANE Bitcoin up to +1000% profits atm!!! on: January 08, 2015, 11:32:57 PM
Is it worth running on nicehash/westhash still, or should I not bother and just go with normal pool mining?

Man, I love these things.

Running 2 SP20s off of a single EVGA 1300G2, fans at 10%, getting 1.18TH/sec from each for 1100 watts at the wall.

Loop 1 has failed on one of my new S20s.  https://i.imgur.com/BaVcZud.jpg  Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this myself, or is this something I have to deal with Spondoolies support directly for?  I don't actually see a link to contact support on their site, so I'm hoping they respond to an email.

re boot   then check.

 if bad

check all 4 cables..    see if loose.

then if all seem good.

pull one good cable and plug it into the dead loop.

if the dead loop stays dead with every cable then  ask for rma.

Thank you for the reply Philip, I'll head to the datacenter tomorrow and check all the cables and whatnot.

I can't say for sure as all I currently have is the EVGA 1300's. I was just trying to get the sound level down to where I could be in the same room without going mad.

You can take the fan even lower via SSH if you want.  There was a post a few pages back explaining how.

Two days into mining with my new SP20s and so far, I'm pretty happy.

I'm running 3 SP20s off of two EVGA 1300G2 power supplies.

All 3 are running at 760 watts and I'm getting 1.3 to 1.35Th/s on them.  When I get home I'll run a kill-a-watt on both PSUs so I get a set of measurements at the wall.
288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: January 05, 2015, 01:22:28 AM
Despite everything going on with bitcoin, I'm still bullish on the tech overall.

I just got my first 3 SP20 boxes running at home, running 3 of them off of a pair of EVGA 1300G2 PSUs.  Once everything is stable I'll be moving them to a datacenter where I can leech free power in exchange for some network design I did for a client of mine.

Stock they came with 2.5.31 firmware, is there any reason to update the firmware from where its at, and if so, what's the best current stable firmware?

Thanks!

Quick easy question;

What's the best pool or pools for someone just starting doing ASIC mining?  I'm interested in stability and reliability as well as ease of getting going.

I spent a lot of effort trying to make Bitminter easy to use for beginners. So you could give us a try.

That said you'll probably find most pools fairly stable and fairly easy to use. So it probably comes down to personal preference.

If you try a couple different pools then you can easily observe stability and ease of use. But be careful when you compare payouts. Most beginners don't understand the different mining reward systems well and forget that daily payouts depend a lot on luck with most of them. Another popular misconception is that if you have hashrate X then a certain pool is best. The hashrate doesn't matter. The questions you are asking are much more relevant and that's a good start already.

Good luck Smiley

Oddly enough I just registered on Bitminter after reading around a bit.  My power supplies get here monday, so I'll be there shortly!

Thanks for the work you put into bitminter, it really was easy and friendly.

291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 28, 2014, 05:36:55 AM

To reach anywhere near max performance (1.7TH +/- 10%) they need to be somewhere very cool (sub 10°C) and have the fans running at min 80 speed, just make sure you can keep them somewhere where noise isn't an issue

You can run them at 1.5TH with 40-50% fans at 20-25°C ambient and they are tolerable in say a separate room.

Or you can replace the fans and underclock them and keep them under your bed Cheesy

They're going into a half rack in a datacenter, so noise isn't an issue, I'm just going to have to monitor the cooling and see how the temps interact with them.  The datacenter is kept at 20°C.

Has anyone built an enclosure or shelf for these to go into standard 19" 4 post racks?

I've read some good things about the EVGA 1300G2 PSUs for these.  I'm stepping up from putz around mining to some(5) of these jackson s20 boxes.  Any other good PSU options?

you can do 3 sp20's with 2 evga 1300 g2's

you need to run the sp20's in the 1200gh area.

if you are willing to run in the 1150-1250 speed.
other decent psu is a 750 watt corsair rm

a seasonic  760 watt plat

a seasonic 860 watt plat  can run at 1300gh

sidehack has some hp 2000 watt servers  they can do 2 at 1350 gh

or 3 at 1025gh

Biffa is correct about the superflower leadex gold 1300w

Thanks for this great reply.  I'm luckily in a place where power and cooling are being provided for free for the next year, so I'm not sure I'm going to underclock this first batch.

I feel like an idiot, I just bought a bundle of 3 and hadn't seen this thread before.

Bah!

Buy 2 more  Cheesy

Good call, decided to buy 5 instead tho.

Thanks xmas money.
