281  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: May 17, 2012, 08:23:57 PM
To above post, i understand you, I used to be self-employed earning $2k per week building and selling all types of PCs. But the economy is completely different to what it was 4 years ago.
I was just saying regarding gigavps post that reinvesting money that you made off mining into more mining equipment is much much easier then investing money that you earned from active jobs (I see mining as a passive job)
Why save up from your job for it?  The rig box (2 mini rigs) I ordered in March is 100% funded by a loan.  It's a risk either way, but I figure that I'll get it faster this way.  If I can afford to save up for it, I can afford to make loan payments if BTC goes south.
282  Economy / Goods / WTS: American Express Rewards - Save 10% on: May 17, 2012, 07:49:08 PM
Hello. Thanks for looking.

I have 131,000 American Express reward points.

I will buy anything for you that can be found in the following categories:

Gift Cards:
http://www.membershiprewards.com/catalog/search/Default.aspx?N=11700000&mrnavlink=topnav%3aShoppingGiftCards&ResetBreadcrumb=true&results_per_page=24

Dining:
http://www.membershiprewards.com/catalog/search/Default.aspx?N=15000000&mrnavlink=topnav%3aD%26EDining&ResetBreadcrumb=true&results_per_page=24

I'm asking 2 1.8 BTC per 1,000 reward points.  Other denominations of points are also fine.

eGift Cards are delivered via E-Mail in PDF format.  I believe I can specify your E-Mail address for delivery.  If not, I'll forward it on to you.  The two times I've ordered eGift Cards, it took less than 5 hours.

I believe that I can specify your mailing address for regular gift cards.  If not, I will mail the cards to your address after I receive it/them.  I will also E-Mail you a printout of the receipt from Amex.

Here's my eBay profile, in case it helps inspire trust.  If necessary, I can change the profile name to prove it's mine.

Although you can use Amex reward points for more than what is in the following list, I have filtered the list down to include only items that are a good value.
That is:
1,000 points  = $10
2,500 points  = $25
10,000 points = $100
etc...

283  Economy / Goods / WTS: Old Navy eGift Cards - $50 x2 for 9 BTC Each on: May 17, 2012, 07:17:32 PM
Hello. Thanks for looking.

I have two $50 Old Navy eGift cards for sale at 10 9 BTC each.  I received them in PDF form, so I can simply E-Mail them to the buyer.  They can be used online or they can be printed and used at a brick & mortar store like a regular gift card.

This is the first time I've ever sold something for BTC.  Are PMs the best method of exchanging info?

Here's my eBay profile, in case it helps inspire trust.  If necessary, I can change the profile name to prove it's mine.

BFL is clearly a huge conspiracy.

Clearly...That's why I sent them $30k.  I love conspiracies.

Errr...I mean mem is a dumbass.  No, I won't argue with him, as Inaba's doing a fine job, and it's hilarious.  As troll's do, mem will try to pull me in, though.

Is this the first time the pool's had an orphaned block?  I don't recall seeing one before.
286  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Mini-Rig Order Date/Ship Date on: May 07, 2012, 10:05:45 PM
Ordered = 5/3/2012
Qty = 1

Any chance I'll see this by July?

Sonny didn't give you an estimate when you ordered?  If it's still the same 12-15 (I'd assume 15) week timeframe he gave me, that'd put yours somewhere between July 30th and August 20th.

I'll have to snip the leads to the bottom fan
For simplicity in testing, I'd recommend just taping down the fan blade to keep it from spinning, or another low-tech method of restriction (a piece of chewed gum?).  If you get some thermal throttling, it's easy to make it spin again.

Mem, shut the fuck up and stop spamming this thread.

I asked them about problems shipping to my country, cause they asked to "please" contact us on this question. No reply after weeks. Very impolite and discouraging.
They've always been very responsive with me.  Maybe try calling them instead.  A VoIP service would avoid the international rates.
http://www.butterflylabs.com/contact - bottom-right shows their phone number.

Man all you guys moaning about the noise these things make... damn. I decided to make a video just for you:

https://vimeo.com/41028028

I accidentally set the thing down on something that was sticking up, and it got caught in the fan and broke the blades off. So I decided to give it some real cooling. Grin

lol, nice!  Is that an 8000 rpm fan?  What model is it?
It's a Delta TSB series fan from an old server power supply. Probably about 5K RPM.
Maybe try this next.

with an adapter to fit the 120mm fan in place

if true, that is definitely a red flag of concern

I disagree.  There's enough business risk without them having to worry about getting a half million dollars worth of orders cancelled because the bitcoin market tanks.  Particularly when they probably don't have the funds to cover such a loss.
293  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: April 20, 2012, 10:28:54 PM
(and I reserve the right to cancel my rig-box order then).

Unlike the singles, when I ordered my rig box, Sonny said that due to a majority of the funds going into the production, order cancellations are not allowed.
294  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: April 20, 2012, 05:26:13 AM
Dave, hate to break it to you, but they won't be shipping yours next week.

But the order confirmation page said it was guaranteed!

I'll be glad to reimburse you for your place in line for the single you ordered if you decide to go the refund route.

So how it's possible that you will get it next month?

I ordered 2 rig boxes two months ago. 2 rig boxes turned into 4 mini rig boxes.

Mystery solved.

Similar to gigavps, I ordered one rig box, now two mini-rigs, a little over a month ago.  The last time I asked, Sonny said it should ship end of June.
297  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: April 19, 2012, 08:56:02 PM
Is there anything else one can do with Single or MiniRig than mine bitcoins. Just wondering what kind of "insurance" I have if BTC crashes.

Before I ordered my Rig Box (now two Mini-Rigs), Sonny told me (just a paraphrase from memory) that I shouldn't consider the value of the hardware for other uses in any part of my decision on whether to make a purchase, as there is currently no other use for them.  However, he also said that if BTC did crash and become worthless, they would probably release their development toolkit so their customers could attempt to recover something on the hardware investment.

What can I do to help getting these little guys running on bitminter?

I hope to use two mini-rigs at the supposed ~50GH/s with BitMinter whenever I happen to get them (BFL says end of June).
299  Other / Off-topic / Re: I visited BFL, any questions ? on: April 14, 2012, 05:46:46 PM
Trying to order a Mini-Rig, they have sent me very lousy bank details, when I tell them I need SWIFT number and IBAN number for Internatinal transfer, they say the have no idea what these are.

I have doubt about trusting these people now.
North American banks don't use IBAN numbers. At least for mine, you concat the institution number, transit number and account number together, not necessarily in that order. That's not a BFL think, it's just an issue sending wires between Europe and NA. They should know what a SWIFT number is though, although that is sometimes labeled differently here. My bank calls the SWIFT number the BIC.
^ This.

NA Banks don't use IBAN/SWIFT, they use a Clearing Code and/or Fedwire/ABA code.

They do use SWIFT codes ! Here the information i got from Sonny:

Bank name: XXX
Bank address: XXX
Swift:  XXX
ABA / Routing: XXX
Account Name: XXX
Account Number: XXX
Account Address: XXX

If you call that lousy you have no idea !

Edit: Account information removed on request of BFL

I received the same bank information as Turbor right before I wired $30k to BFL on March 13th, the receipt of which Sonny confirmed on March 14th.  Although I didn't need the SWIFT code, they did provide it to me.  ice_chill's claim that BFL says they don't know their bank's SWIFT number is a lie.

It wasn't a lie, I have received a follow up email from another person from their company with the SWIFT code, the first person that sent the email did not know it.

Then you should've edited your post.  My apologies.
