There you go doing the moderators job, again.
FYI, moderators are regular (usually unpaid) users, just with slightly elevated privileges.
Now slither back under the rock you crawled out from under.

Hello again forum,

My name is Milkman39. I had briefly introduced myself in a previous post but I think this warrants more details...
No panhandling, move along

The disclaimer in the eBook states

"Any use of this eBook is at your own responsibility for damage in condition with a visit to this guide. The content of this eBook and all material in this eBook is made available without warranty of any kind, including but not limited to, warranty of fitness for a particular purpose."
THE DISCLAIMER IN the book, available only once the book had been purchased? Don't make me laugh.

Do you also deny that following your guide is tantamount to scamming Amazon?
Fraud is a criminal offense, mind you.
You yourself admitted to having committed the said crime 15 times.

I'm done here.
284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want a free kindle fire? Learn how to Social Engineer and get one free. on: February 14, 2012, 10:09:21 AM
It was intact my mistake to post such a thing here. What I thought people would like turned into "LOL FEDS~!~~!~!!!@#" "YOURE A SCAMMER" when in fact I did not scam anyone on this board.
I already posted this but would you care to address this issue?
Either you were trying to scam Amazon or you were trying to scam Bitcointalk users.
Either way, you deserve a ban/scammer tag.

Your posting what you claim to be a quote from Theymos is useless.
Since that quote can't be followed we can't assume that
(1) the quote is even real
(2) theymos was fully aware of the nature of your "enterprise".

[ETA: btw apologies for the presumption, I haven't been at this forum long enough to get a feel for what's tolerated, but I can't help but feel that, with Bitcoin media coverage being all drugs this, kiddie porn that, and Silk Road the other, we really don't need to let scammers flourish. So I have reported this thread to the moderators. Hey, they might feel there's no harm in it, in which case so be it.

I felt the same, so I reported this topic right when it started. To my utter dismay, the mods arrived, posted some nonsensical comments, and went away:
Seems like a scam, awaiting a response from someone with a free review before passing judgement.
It's not really a scam, as far as I know. From the looks of it, you'll get it for free initially, but you'll have to pay for it 30 days later. That being said, I'm too nice of a person to try it myself.

Precisely what these forums need - to turn into crimetalk.org because the mods can't (are afraid?) make a decision Roll Eyes

@Maged, @Tysat
I respect you and the work you're doing here guys but this time IMO you clearly dropped the ball.
Logic was enough to prove this was a scam - either against Amazon (by wrongfully requesting a replacement Kindle with the intent to fight the credit card charge by Amazon when the supposedly broken Kindle never arrived) or against Bitcointalk's users (by wrongfully claiming he had a proven method of dodging the said credit card charge and trying to sell it).

> reported to amazon
> got $10 account credit
Nice!

EDIT:: OP seems to be on the run as he removed all his posts Tongue
EDIT:: Hey OP, removing a post is not quite the same as getting rid of the evidence. The evidence is in your ISP's logs and on Bitcointalk's servers and will be released to law enforcement on demand. Have a nice day scammer bitch!
286  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6950 -> 6970 upgrade on: February 13, 2012, 09:19:28 PM
Memory damage is what would woryr me more; the 6970 bios uses higher frequencies and higher voltage for the memory chips.
Since 6950 cards use lower grade memory chips they will fail over time.
Instability might be a blessing, clearly showing the user how unhappy that the reflashed card is feeling.
If you have a 1GB version, you can forget about flashing the bios as all 6970 cards are equipped with 2GB of memory.

This is why alternative methods were developed, including the RBE method and the approach where you save your bios to a file and use a ready-made script which changes just the few bytes responsible for shader count.
Both these methods work for reference card designs only.
287  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Problem with inconsistent reported hash rate on: February 13, 2012, 08:57:07 PM
Uhmmm... you didn't set the Intensity as you were supposed to. Without that you can forget about decent hash rate.
Latest cgminer versions revert to just a single thread per gpu if intensity is left at the default value.
Try adding "intensity" : "8" to the config file. You'll need one value per card so you can end up with something like "intensity" : "8,8,8,8,8"
You can always set the number of threads per gpu explicitly: "gpu-threads" : "2".

Having a good time there, Holliday?
Any idea why it does that?
Ubuntu is telling you that you need elevated rights to mess around in /root. Whatever is stored inside is none of the regular users' business.
Try sudo ls -a /root (sudo as in superuser do, perform an action as superuser, i.e. root).

If you don't want to keep typing sudo this, sudo that, give sudo su a try - you will become root until you close the terminal or press ctrl+D
su = switch user. With no arguments it will try to switch you to superuser. Examples: su thomas

One other thing, if you want to see all hidden filesystem entries in window land (graphical mode), invoke gconf-editor
Next, choose desktop/gnome/file_views.
You want to select show hidden files (files beginning with .) and show backup files (files beginning with ~)  (tutorial)
Done!
290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: A Complete Guide to P2Pool - For Ubuntu Linux... (for both Bitcoin and Litecoin) on: February 13, 2012, 04:27:24 PM
ls /root/
The /root directory does exist in any linux distro.
BTW, root is not the same as Root or /root and is something totally different than the username root, group name root, or that nasty spell that roots you to the ground preventing all movement Cheesy

To rename the .bitcoin.conf.swp file to .bitcoin.conf, you can either:
(1) use nano. When exiting it will ask you about the filename.
(2) use the move command: mv /home/old_filename /home/new_filename
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: A Complete Guide to P2Pool - For Ubuntu Linux... (for both Bitcoin and Litecoin) on: February 13, 2012, 04:03:08 PM
All entities beginning with a dot (as in .bitcoin) are hidden by default.
Can you use a terminal like xterm?
The standard ls command won't show the hidden entries to you but the ls -a (-a as in all) command will.

Try issuing the ls -a /root and ls -a /home/<your_user_name> commands.
If /root/.bitcoin exists, view its contents with ls /root/.bitcoin.
If you find the config file there, view it by issuing the nano /root/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf command and if necessary, copy that file to your home directory (cp /root/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf /home/<your_user_name>/.bitcoin)
Nano can be installed with sudo apt-get install nano.

Seriously, if Linux feels complicated that's likely because it is (your adventure with vi was a fine example). We old linux geeks just don't notice that anymore having developed a class immunity Cheesy
With plenty of practice, you'll get familiarized with the commands and their usage.
Make sure you know how to use the cd, cp, mv, and ls commands:
cd = change directory. Arguments: change current directory to what? Examples: cd /mnt/storage
cp = copy. Arguments: copy what, copy where. Examples: cp /home/jake/random_file /mnt/aa
mv = move. Same as above.
ls = list directory contents. Arguments: what file or directory do you want to list? Examples: ls /home/jake/some_file,   ls /home

This is not even the tip of the iceberg. You can learn about any command by invoking man <command> (as in manual). Try man ls.

What did you break Doc? You were supposed to run the pool server with --blocks=fast and --double-blocks, not with --blocks=ultra-slow  Cheesy

So this is stealing?
Yes, no matter how nicely OP dresses it in words.

Fraud: Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
Correct.

12.1 implies 2.6 SDK which sucks performance-wise for 5xxx or 6xxx cards.
How to check AMD SDK version

You can download any sdk version directly from AMD's site
When cleaning up the old sdk, make sure you remove the following files:
C:\Windows\System32\amdocl64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\amdoclcl64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\OpenCL.dll

Try dropping the clocks by 10 MHz, you seem to be pushing the cards (or just one less capable card) a bit too far, hence the driver issues.

Apparently aptitude doesn't work on the Ubuntu I'm using (which is the newest full version). I guess it works on server? Anyway, I substituted apt-get and everything worked. I have no idea why or what the difference is! I suppose these commands are interchangeable?
Indeed.
The differences are minor (sometimes even purely syntactic: aptitude search vs apt-cache search) and are well documented in the manual (when in doubt, RTFM Tongue):

As already mentioned, nano is a very good alternative to vi for short, simple files - until you develop your vi-ninjutsu at least Cheesy

The home directory ( ~/ ) part is relative: if you were logged in as root, the home directory would be /root - therefore you should find the file in /root/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf
Instead of ~/ try specifying the full path, eg. /home/<username>/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf  until you get comfortable with the directory tree.
296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Problem with inconsistent reported hash rate on: February 13, 2012, 02:13:20 PM
what driver version? Can you confirm the drivers and sdk version?
That's the most important element affecting your performance.

With 12.1 / 2.6 your best bet is to remove the drivers and sdk (this step might be a little tricky) and installing some other combo, preferably 11.12 driver and 2.1 sdk.
2.5 sdk should do fine as well.

Thanks for taking this way OT
Sorry.
I recommend you base your rig on any standard Linux distro. Follow the installer, then just toss in the driver, miner, and sdk and you're ready to go.
It's not that hard and there are tutorials you could follow.
If that secondary PSU shuts down with lower load than before, it is clear that it took some damage when you overloaded it. Judging from how the X-750 is built, I'm guessing one of the 031N06L power transistors responsible for +12V rail died. You should have that PSU looked at.

Once again, ATI drivers limit you to 8 AMD GPUs.
Bulanula, check_status never said it was an AMD-based machine.

NVidia-based machines are totally orthogonal to mining unless Kepler kicks some serious ass when it finally launches (April?).

Although the machine you linked to is a beauty, it's not the way to go due to hardware cost of the non-standard HPC platform.
While a VDACTr8-based rig would further decrease the system power usage overhead, any decent rig pulling 1100W has only 10% overhead at 110W for the fans, drives, board, and cpu.

That article did not test mayonnaise. It is garbage.
They did test cheese though. Craving for mayonnaise?

Don't forget there is also a driver-introduced limit of 8 GPUs... you can thank ATI engineers for that.
