281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cryonics Frosbit claiming 1000Gh/s - $15K?? on: June 14, 2013, 02:27:55 PM
Let's all agree this is a super SCAM, but let's say I have access to unlimited liquid Nitrogen (I do). How much of a performance gain on my Butterfly Single SC could be achieved by cooling the chips down to 100K? What are the concerns for the electronics?
-De-humidified chamber (reduce condensation on the electronics)
-Nitrogen Gas venting (reduce asphyxiation of the operator)
-Do you need to you need stabilize the board from vibrations? (I imagine normal room vibrations might crack the board or chips over sustained time at supercooled temperatures.

Imagining I can actually build a stable super-cooled setup... what are the potential performance gains?

I am on a replicator 2 from Makerbot. The tech is bleeding edge, so get ready to spend some time being frustrated. Also, you need to know how to 3D model, or you'll be somewhat limited on what you can make. When I finally taught myself to 3D model and worked out all the kinks on my replicator2, I made some pretty amazing things, though. Currently working how to copper plate my models to make interactive 3D circuit puzzles. You should email Makerbot and ask if they will take Bitcoin, it doesn't hurt to ask does it?

I should say, though, a replicator two will run you in excess of 20BTC

Thanks for being forthcoming. That's less upfront than I thought it would be, but too rich for me.

284  Economy / Services / Re: Anonymity on the Internet — ZorroVPN on: June 13, 2013, 09:35:22 PM
I have used your service, and I love the chain-building feature. There aren't many ways to route  traffic from an unjailbroken iPhone out a tor exit node, but you have provided it. Also, I would say that data transfer rates have been fantastic so far. More than enough to handle a Google Voice call from my mobile despite hopping through five servers in North America. I added trust to your profile as your service is genuine and not a scam—like so many offerings on bitcointalk. Also, thanks for the coupon, I saved a bundle with it.

I highly recommend this service to others.

I like the idea, but if you hold funds as an escrow, then are you not acting as an agent in the transaction?

Is BTC to paypal legal in USA or acceptable according to PayPal TOS? Do you need to be a registered MSB to run this site? If so, will MSB license be required for each state? The bond sizes are quite large >$100,000 USD  Shocked. Can you address these concerns?

287  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 11, 2013, 10:26:08 PM
If ASICMINER can hold a 25% hashing share, then the average weekly income (in BTC per share) would be 0.01575 BTC/share.

Disregarding revenue from hardware sales, if we annualize just mining returns over 52 weeks,
then one ASICMINER share should return 0.819 BTC which yields incredible annual returns even at high share prices:
2.5BTC : 32.8%
3.0BTC : 27.3%
3.5BTC : 23.4%
4.0BTC : 20.5%
5.0BTC : 16.4%
10.0BTC : 8.2%

Obviously, I have not included operating expenses such as electricity, R&D, new equipment, nor have I included the income from sales of mining hardware. For this period in ASIC rollout, revenues from mining hardware sales will far outweigh operations and development costs.

Honestly, I realize that the people who were early investors in ASICMINER have made out so good that late comers may feel they have missed the boat on ASICMINER. However, in reality, a 10% annual return on investment is a fantastic dividend, which means buying into ASICMINER will continue to be a very good investment so long as they can keep up the hashrate. IMO shares of ASICMINER are still massively undervalued. There simply isn't another Security out there that grows your BTC's quite as effectively as ASICMINER. Personally, I am dumbfounded as to why people aren't more desperate to be holding ASICMINER shares.

Assuming BFL delivers, I have a single SC coming I may not wish to operate. Would COGNITIVE think about setting up a hardware-for-shares scenario?

You could scale Hardware Hashrate to network difficulty to establish a fair hardware/shares exchange rate:
where a variable, k, defines the fractional hashing power acquired:
Code:
 [Hashing Power acquired]
------------------------------ = k
   [Network Difficulty]

and the constant, X, is a value which will determine the reward in shares for the fractional hashing power acquired

SO THAT:
k * X = Shares rewarded to hardware seller

This might attract other hardware-providing investors who want to ensure a profit on their hardware purchase:
They could sell their shares for one-time profit on their initial hardware investment (assuming Shares*[share value] > [hardware purchase cost])
They could hold their shares as future hardware-providing investors would likely increase the dividends and potentially share value.

Personally, I am looking to invest in a mining collaborative dedicated to aggressively bringing on new equipment.

I apologize for the Thread-SPAM as I am not a shareholder, but I am looking for a mining collaborative to invest in that possesses the proper attitude towards the future, and I thought I would seed the idea in a project that had some momentum.

Cheers,
Exo

Full (dis)credit to them for their SCAMsmanship, though. I e-mailed them asking for some proof of their extraordinary claims, and they replied with a rather well-worded e-mail about how they would be sending test units out to reputable individuals, and doing a live demonstration at a pre-announced location. They're certainly still keeping the charade up for now.
291  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FAIL AUCTION Avalon Asic Batch 2 on: May 25, 2013, 05:33:02 AM
titomane,

Just watch the delivery dates on the device and the Network Hash rate/difficulty level--you may not feel so bad about this in a few months. There's a smallish possibility that you may not have recouped your substantial investment of 175BTC. Just hope for the best (or worst) depending on whether your holding mining power. If you are really desperate to burn 175BTC for some hashing power? Buy 75 ASIC miner shares on a passthrough and you'll yield about 1-2.5BTC/week in dividends. Watch your coins grow through dividends and share price and sell out if you line up some hash power at a reasonable price.

whats going on with asicminer right now?  Any idea of when full hash rate will be back online?
They weed out some old equipment , probably by sold out ,and waiting for new equipment to be installed...
I see some post says that AM planning to  deploy 200 TH in June....

200 THash in June? Exo need more AM shares....
293  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cryonics Frosbit claiming 1000Gh/s - $15K?? on: May 24, 2013, 02:57:23 PM
There appears to be a coffee mug inside the device--I can only assume that excess heat is converted into coffee using their patent-pending GeoMatTM matter rearrangement device. Don't have the time to wait two days? No problem, we will beam the device directly into your garage for only $750.

Honestly, people: if anyone could build a device that exceeded 1% of the entire network hash-rate for less than 15,000 bucks, then why would they sell it?

Full credit on their web-design: I definitely think Avalon could learn a thing or two from their presentation.

295  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For me MtGox is Dead, where shoud I adquire Bitcoins? on: April 12, 2013, 01:05:57 PM
MtGox is terribly slow recently at handling BTC deposits and withdrawals. Shouldn't this be relatively quick (automated)? This should all be handled by communication between trading database <---> bitcoind. So why would this be so slow >6 hours? Also, the txid's they generated for me when withdrawing were not immediately visible on blockchain.info, which is a first.
296  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: THIS is why the freeze was an idiotic idea. on: April 12, 2013, 03:10:06 AM
The freeze was nice. I split some coin out to 4 exchanges, sold some to USD, set really low buy positions, and high sell position. Then let each exchange fight it out, and make sense of it when the dust settles tomorrow. The fact is there is still a big queue of people looking to jump in to BTC, and lower prices tomorrow AM are only going to facilitate higher prices by weeks end.
297  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: THIS is why the freeze was an idiotic idea. on: April 12, 2013, 02:43:50 AM
Why should only the architects (DDoS) benefit from the crash?
Mt Gox can't handle the load of EVERYONE (yes, you!) trading at once, the panicked traders are the architects of the DDoS. Anyone with half a brain can conclude that the best option is to be collectively sensible and calm (i.e. dont go batshit crazy selling/buying) - hence the problem.

BB.

Taking advantage panic is part of market psychology. You have to have the stomach for gambling (taking risks) to make big gains.

298  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: THIS is why the freeze was an idiotic idea. on: April 12, 2013, 02:24:34 AM
Dipsticks? No use holding onto coin at 120 if its going to 30. ( I could have 4X as much coins) Why should only the architects (DDoS) benefit from the crash?
299  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox Freeze - Fair? on: April 11, 2013, 07:52:03 PM
Do you know if they are accepting deposits right now? --If I were to trade some BTC with announced 0.000% fee during impending collapse/recovery?
300  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox Freeze - Fair? on: April 11, 2013, 04:04:33 PM
Their service is very unreliable, and their fees are very high (0.6%).There have been some rumblings about suspicious ongoings (fractional reserve?) and I worry about their ability to handle a crash.

What will happen when it goes live after "database upgrade"?

Up or (Way) Down?
