281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / GoldCoin is a ripoff on: November 25, 2013, 10:19:02 AM
I mined GoldCoin all day yesterday in Tom's Pool.

My Reject rate was over 90% orphans.

GLD was designed to steal from hard working miners. It's total scam.

The returns on CoinWarz are a total fiction because they completely ignore stales and orphans.

If you mine GLD you will be paying for electricity and getting nothing in return.

Do NOT mine GoldCoin.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Profitability measured against GLD on: November 25, 2013, 05:03:26 AM
I've been mining GoldCoin all day and my accept rate is less than 10%. When I mine BTC my accepts are 99.5%.
The return shown on CoinWarz is complete fiction.
This is the worst designed coin ever.

Did you take on more pools than you're capable of maintaining  Huh
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / BTC pool efficiency on: November 23, 2013, 11:57:21 AM
At present I'm 60% of the hashing in the BTC P2pool and the pool efficiency is 86.7%

I took my 16 gig of Block Eruptors off this pool yesterday so they cannot be part of the problem.

What is our P2pool efficiency and confidence interval? How does this compare to the global p2pool efficiency?
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: LKYs are not showing at Cryptsy? on: November 22, 2013, 03:56:10 AM
Today number of payments shown at account page are not showing up on my Cryptsy account. Problem at Cryptsy side or here?

Wondering same...

Same here, I see 9 payments on Multipool, only 4 have appeared on Cryptsy. All the missing payments are LKY. There is only one LKY deposit which is pending since 1 AM, all the other 5 deposits aren't even pending on Cryptsy. The oldest missing deposit is from 5 AM.
Maybe Vern has to upgrade his LKY client and redownload the blockchain. Click Trade and see his comments.

add +1 after your username and the number of accepts you see scrolling by will go way up. This works for me on 3332 but I don't know what happens if you use 8888 and MP switches to a different coin.
This is my cgminer conf file:

{
"pools" : [
   {
      "url" : "stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3332",
      "MultiPool" : " BitCoin (BTC) ",
      "user" : "Aurum.be +1",
      "pass" : "pw"
   },
   {
      "url" : "stratum+tcp://pool1.eu.multipool.us:3332",
      "MultiPool" : " BitCoin (BTC) ",
      "user" : "Aurum.be +1",
      "pass" : "pw"
   }
],
"balance" : true,
"usb" : ":49",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin",
"icarus-options" : "115200:1:1",
"icarus-timing" : "3.0=100"
}

+1 will set your difficulty to 1 on the BTC port, however, that is way too low for fast ASICs and probably the reason that our efficiency has dropped by 20-30% on the p2pool port.  (I'm not talking about worker efficiency, I'm talking about p2pool share efficiency.  This has an impact on our rewards as a pool)

It will also not work if you're using the multiport as that username won't be recognized on the other coins.
Block Eruptors hash at only 0.3335 GH/s.
If I don't add the +1 I get zero accepts, just constant requests for work restarts. Even with the +1 I'm sent work with diff 5/4 to 136/4.

I do NOT use it for my BFL Singles that hash at 58 GH/s.

I didn't think it'd work for anything but port 3332, thanks for clarifying.

I suspect P2pool is just too fast for Block Eruptors.

I noticed the p2pool efficiently had dropped a lot. Is that the same as the whole P2pool network or just us?
287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury? A List. on: November 20, 2013, 04:32:17 AM
if you're BE's are failing/dropping off at or near full load, then you probably don't have a regulated power supply.

best way to check is with multi-meter or as aurel57 has with one of those LED volt meters.

I found also when checking your voltage at the power supply your voltage may be constant, but if you were to check the voltage at the last USB port (furthest away from the power input) there will be a voltage drop.  If using an unregulated power supply then the voltage drop will be greater than a regulated power supply.

You can get a better understanding of the difference between regulated and unregulated power supplies from the link below.
http://www.apogeekits.com/power_adapter_selection.htm

hth,
merv.

These are just the plain ol' Anker-style 10 port hubs that nearly everyone has been using.  The power supplies that ships with them seem to fade out and then die after running the BEs for awhile.

I replaced the standard 12v 4a supply with a generic 12v 6a supply from Amazon.  Certainly that can be no worse than the original power supply, right?

I refuse to mess with rigging up and wiring my own power supplies for USB sticks.  I hated doing that with my Blades.  It just seems so archaic to me to do things that way.  Plug & play or I'm not interested!  Lol.
I bought the Orico P10-U3 10-port USB hub with the SW-120400 12V 4A power brick and it worked for 2 days. I tried swapping the 12V 5A power brick from an Anker hub but the female plug connector is a different diameter. Hopefully an $8 replacement brick will make it work.

I find I have to exit and restart my BFL Singles using 3.8.1 at least once a day or they sllooowwww down. I don't recall that happening with 3.7.2, I'll go back and try 3.7.2 again.

Indeed it is. I'm running at 512.

Do you have "usb" : ":60" in your conf file? That's been the best thing for keeping all my BEs running.

So are you over 60 BE's?  I had trouble with the 60th too.  Mining with 59 at the moment.
No, I only have 49 BEs, but, I have a dozen PC miners and I spread them over several so I can read the bottom of the cgminer screen. Leave no USB unplugged  Grin

Just a thought, have you tried running 30 in one instance of cgminer and the other 30 in a second instance?

Trying to mine litecoins with cgminer.
W2KSP3
GPU 0 HD4850

LTC.bat:
set term=
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe -d 0 --scrypt -o http://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3333 -u user.worker -p pass --failover-only --shaders=800 -I 10 -Q 2

Log:
[2013-11-06 23:18:41] Started cgminer 3.7.2
Just seems to hang. I can CTRL-C to cmd prompt.
I've looked at just about every site's config for cgminer. They are all the same.
Question: What's the most likely reason I can't connect to their server?
Should I be using an older version of cgminer (2.6.1)?
Thanks!
Using the conf file is better than the command line, but, try this LTC.bat. If you create a shortcut and put it in your startup folder it'll automatically launch on booting and the "timeout" gives it 10 seconds to discover a network. If this works you can likely increase to I 18:

timeout /t 10
cgminer.exe -o http://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3333 -u user.worker -p pass --scrypt -I 13 --gpu-engine 625 --gpu-memclock 993 --thread-concurrency 3200

or

cgminer.exe -o http://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3333 -u user.worker -p pass --scrypt -I 13 --gpu-engine 625 --gpu-memclock 993 --thread-concurrency 4032

BTW, you most likely failed because --shaders=800 should be --shaders 800. If you'd prefer to use "--shaders 800" then replace "--gpu-engine 625 --gpu-memclock 993 --thread-concurrency 4032" with "--shaders 800".

I don't know squat about alt coin mining.  But, doesn't scrypt require newer Catalyst versions than are supported by that old GPU and OS?  Pretty sure you need Catalyst in the 13.x version range.
All my gpu miners run on 12.8 because I mix 5970s and 7970s and 5970s need 12.8 and cgminer 3.7.2

...
Unless I misunderstand how you are wiring it up I would say maybe the Power supply doesn't like working at >100%.
I came to that number based on 60 erupters at .5 amp being 30A and I would have to guess the hub would waste some amount of power. I also have 0 idea how long your cables connecting to the power supply is but at 30A you should have a really short run and large cable.
But I can't figure out why one on the laptop port wouldn't work. I would have taken a shot at it earlier but I didn't see anything obvious unless you only use 1 power supply. Even then your laptop may not provide the full .5 amp without too much voltage sag. Laptops are usually not as powerful on the usb ports. But I know by spec it should work......
EDIT: by I misunderstand how you are wiring it up I mean that you say you have 2 hubs and one power supply. Possibly you wanted to convey a power supply per hub. I made the assumption that you had one power supply per hub the first time I read it as you would be woefully under powered otherwise.
Sorry maybe it was my writing. I have 2 hubs and 2 PSU's (both 30a @ 5v).
When I have 30 BE's in hub 1 and 29 BE's in hub 2, it works fine (still, both hubs on their own psu) but as soon as I add a 60th BE (be it in hub 1 or hub 2), it doesn't work anymore.
Anyway at least I know it's not a limitation by the miner, so I'll have to find a solution somewhere else. Thanks to those who replied
Do you have "usb" : ":60" in your conf file? That's been the best thing for keeping all my BEs running.

I have a miner or two where I made the mistake of letting Windows find the driver and installing something like ftdixxx driver for the BEs. I switched it with Zadig but later when I'd add another it might get the old ftdi driver and not the WinUSB driver. On miners where I never made that mistake it always installs WinUSB driver when I add another BE. I wish I knew how to remove that incorrect driver from my PC.

...done with trying to make the sortable table on the stats page work.
Personally I don't need sortable tables. I'd like to see a separate stats page for sha and scrypt, in alphabetical order by coin ticker, and use the same font as the table above so the whole table can be seen on one screen.

Also, I miss the horizontal menu you used to have on every stats page so I could jump from coin to coin.

...we are now paying out transaction fees...
That was my next question. I read that as BTC difficulty increases that mining income will essentially become almost all transaction fees. Does that seem reasonable? I'm hoping sha-256 mining stays profitable long enough to recoup the investment in ASICs. Which begs the question is it really a profit until you've recouped your capital investment?

Block Eruptors: Mine haven't worked on the p2p BTC so I just point them at PPC. Please let us know when you figure out how to get the diff low enough to try again.
