This is probably more of what you are asking for (I think the one above is showing the number of unique addresses seen per day): http://bitcoinrichlist.com/charts/bitcoin-distribution-by-address?atblock=320000I don't believe either of these show the total number of addresses that have *ever* had a balance. So an address that had 1 bitcoin 2 years ago, but zero now wouldn't be counted here. You could calculate that of course by parsing the blockchain. (It is difficult to tell for sure whether the "0" in the "Bitcoin Balance" is inclusive or not).

NOBODY IN THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO HEAR WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT BITCOIN ANYWAY. WHY ARE WE ALL YELLING?
WE HAVE TO YELL BECAUSE OTHERWISE I CAN'T HEAR YOU THROUGH THE 'SERIES OF TUBES' THAT MAKE UP THE INTERNET.

Maybe BTC protocol should introduce something similar to PoS to encourage people to have full node opened? Go ahead, let us know when the client fork is ready, fork the blockchain and we'll see who is ready to switch to PoS.

We're they ever? It’s official. Coindesk is no longer the Voice of Digital Currency Dear Coindesk, First, let me say I am extremely angry right now, I am so angry with your publication that I want to use the F word, but my sister tells me it turns people off when reading things online, so I will refrain. My team has busted their bums since I quit consulting with CoinTerra, without my paycheck, we have zero income and we are hustling to compete with companies that were funded with over $240 million alone this year. We wanted everything to be perfect on our new website for our official launch, but you guys screwed up one too many times and I respect the actual hardworking people of the bitcoin community too much to stay quiet and you are a clear and present danger to bitcoin. You are are forcing me to change my plans because right now you deserve to be shut down Sorry guys, but there are lots of charts and graphs you need to see. https://ihb.io/2014-11-09/news/official-coindesk-longer-voice-digital-currency-13393

But sidechains, they will not survive - better technology is already here.
What is this technology? From Vlad's comment, I'm not sure if he is as familar with them as he could be. 2 way pegged sidechains can be as secure as the main chain and can implement just about any technology off the main chain. You can read more here, this is somewhat technical: http://www.blockstream.com/sidechains.pdfThey enable people to implement many features that might be risky on the main chain while leveraging bitcoin's infrastructure in ways an altcoin can't. Check out the paper's authors. There are other threads discussing this, so I don't want to derail this thread with a side topic, but my only point is that from the financial, usage, and tech sides there are many things that can impact fiat price and consequently long term distribution.

I'm confused. Where do the tippers get the bitcoins to tip if the coin is not evenly distributed?
Where do people get Euros (or dollars or ...) if Euros are not "evenly distributed"?

Looks like they moved it for you since you didnt take the time to put it in the correct section for mining support.

... Edit: Coinbase does mostly OTC transactions from what I've read. It's a pretty common practice.
Those were nice posts. I'll just add that your scenarios also only account for the financial events that should hit in the next few months (ETFs etc). Hopefully. Sidechains (will be big) and other technical improvements will increase the usability scenarios on the non financial side. If (when?) these confluence of events begin to hit, not to mention now that we are 18 months from the next halving, it should impact price significantly. No guarantees of course, but the scenarios out there hav tremendous upside.

Other sponsors: CitiBank Price Waterhouse Cooper KPMG
It appears that the Argentina Chamber of Commerce is having a Member to Member event to introduce members to each other, the Bitcoin portion being an "introduction to Bitcoin" in the area of finance, IT, marketing, etc.
Far from OP's claim that Monsanto is sponsoring Bitcoin Argentina.
Yep. I know what a shock it is that someone would grossly exaggerate at these forums, but Elwar for the win! Besides, for the same reasons no one can stop me from using bitcoin, no one can stop Monsanto from using it also. Fair does not mean that the wicked are punished. And the more usage the better - even if some people don't agree with some of the others who are using it. Tools are neutral and can be used for good or evil.

Does the bitcoin log show anything (e.g. where it is getting hung up)? Did you give it much time to finish? (e.g. if it was a few minutes it could have been doing the block database verify). (debug.log is in here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory)
|
|
|
In all likelihood it is checking the block database to ensure it is not damaged (intentionally or unintentionally).
You can add "checklevel=1" in bitcoin.conf BUT that is usually not recommended because you won't know if the block database has been corrupted.
You could check the debug log and see if that gives you any idea as to the issue if it isn't as above, but I bet it is the database check.

Download the website, and open it offline on a disconnected computer.
As Dabs said, see here: https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.orgUse it offline, quit your browser after using it, and probably restart the computer prior to going back online to be safer. (Or use one that is never online)

"Trustworthy, honest news source: Where did CNN go wrong?" "Virtual currency is the future, there's no doubt about that" Bitcoin is just a step along the way according to them. They discuss where bitcoin may have gone wrong (quite interesting actually) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYJdOiLqSxE
