2801  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2013, 07:57:03 AM
Well the only reason i can think of why someone would try to sell BTC10k around midnight US east coast time (and 0500 - 0600 in Europe) is to manipulate the market. Think we can all agree that if he wanted to cash out he could slowly sell of in smaller chunks and get MUCH more $ out. The sell brought gox down from 590 to  500 and subsequently to 475 on lower volume following up. If the goal was to induce panic so the whale could reenter at lower position think it's safe to say that so far he failed as the market held out pretty reasonably so far, and i feel will recover soon. Now if Gox had 70% of the market as in April this would've been much uglier. So unless the price drops down to $400s that manipulation stunt will cause our whale A LOT of $, and hopefully will deter other a$$holes from trying to manipulate the market (and we can get back to a more natural mass panic snow ball effects instead of one person instigating the avalanche) just my 2c

seriously can't think of a worst error message on the exchange that "it's gone" i mean i guess maybe "i'm on a plane to south america with all your bitcoins" would be worse but not by much.

Kinda glad GOX doesn't have the market now, with China we might have a chance

2806  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox withdraw 5% fee? on: November 15, 2013, 06:56:30 AM
Shoot them an email they'd happy to offer extortion fee. From what i've read you still have to wait a month maybe more though.

Also your other option is change convert to btc transfer and cash out on other exchanges, might be less than 5% if you time it right
2807  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-E banned after buying on: November 11, 2013, 11:54:59 PM
Oh didn't see it. Open a ticket and ask them. Too many password attempts  Huh

What's the latest processed USD wire? Do they even wire out anything at all?
2809  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why can't mtgox just mail checks to US customers? on: November 11, 2013, 11:49:40 PM
They don't deal with US banks, so what bank do you expect them to cut you a check from?

As far as India/France i'm not 100% but pretty sure a US bank would have no idea what to do with an Indian/French cheque

Checks is like 1920... no country uses checks. Only the USA. The rest of the world uses bankwire or sepa

France and India also use checks a lot.
SEPA is only within the EU + EFTA + Monaco.

But the question is "why can't mtgox just mail checks to US customers?"
I'd say the reason is very simple: they do not want to part with the money of their customers once they have it in their bank account Smiley

Bitcon, I'd seriously consider using a different exchange.

They ban most tor nodes
2811  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why can't mtgox just mail checks to US customers? on: November 11, 2013, 11:30:23 PM
Paper checks are a US thing. No one else has or uses them. You have to have a US bank to issue one with a routing number. So no they can't mail paper checks.
2812  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Deposit to BTC-e through OKPAY on: May 20, 2013, 03:16:37 PM
Yeah btc-e no news no information no transparency from btc-e besides "be back approx. May 20" yeah i can't see why this exchanges has so much lower volume than gox
2813  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mt.gox > okpay ... withdrawal error on: April 25, 2013, 02:11:23 AM
means there was an error in transferring your funds (most likely cause they're low on okpay funds themselves to credit you) support is backlogged for about 4days. So open a ticket and wait 4 days
2814  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox to OKPay: Really slow! on: April 25, 2013, 02:08:05 AM
If they have funds in their okpay account about an hr from my experience. If they're low on funds...who knows up to a week?Huh
2815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is btc-e down for anyone else? on: April 17, 2013, 06:28:08 AM
Yeah a planned maintenance with few days heads up time or hell make it a weekly think like every sat for one hour. Don't announce it 15min before ninja maintenance
2816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is btc-e down for anyone else? on: April 17, 2013, 06:16:26 AM
The one grc quoted 04/16/2013 ... 7-00 to 8-00 MSK
it's 04/17/2013 1017am there now

There was an announcement near the top of their page all day today saying they will have scheduled maintenance... that might be why the site is down.

According to google the announcement said:

Quote
Dear Customers. 04/16/2013 we close our BTC-E site for Maintenance from 7-00 to 8-00 MSK. With regards, support BTC-E.

Hope you didn't move them to gox cause after their cooldown that wouldn't be much of a win
2820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is btc-e down for anyone else? on: April 17, 2013, 05:30:04 AM
