2821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 12, 2022, 07:26:49 AM
According to this link DAZN was outbid by SkySports therefore it is PPV with them but you are right, Youtube will be showing the fight live in Ukraine.

I have been confident Usyk will win by knockout by round 5 or so. Joshua has to go in an all out attack and then win by KO otherwise he stands no chance because technically Usyk is far superior. I have a feeling Joshua will try to outbox Usyk like he tried in the Ruiz rematch but it will backfire spectacularly.

Does anyone know if Dazn has got any of the worldwide rights to this fight? According to wiki it does but there's no source and I can't see anything official from dazn or on their socials: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleksandr_Usyk_vs_Anthony_Joshua_II

Worst comes to worse I'm hoping a Ukrainian proxy will be ok to watch the fight on Usyk's own YouTube channel which he got the rights for.

Mike Tyson did not stand aside and also expressed his opinion about the upcoming Joshua vs rematch. In his opinion, Joshua poses a serious danger to the opponent, as he put it, all this is due to the fact that he is still continuing to study.

https://boxing-social.com/news/mike-tyson-insight-into-usyk-joshua-rematch/

How does he know Usyk hasn't been doing the same? There's no way he's just going to walk into this like it's an easy fight and I'm sure Usyk will be prepared, but he also has the added insight on now having fought him before. Personally, I expect a similar result, but AJ is going to have to go in for the kill this time if he doesn't want a repeat of this first fight. I can see him doing that but tiring early on and if so maybe we will see a knock out from Usyk.
2822  Economy / Reputation / Re: Clearing my trust list on: August 12, 2022, 07:19:25 AM
You have a valid point but adding some members to a trust list or excluding others should be a matter for the one adding, removing or excluding. On many occasions questions are asked about why those decisions were taken.

Unfortunately manipulation of the system has been an ongoing problem that was never addressed. It will continue until or unless some drastic changes are implemented.

In the past, my trust list was empty and I didn't include anyone there because I didn't know who was worthy of inclusion. But it quickly swelled up once I realized who should be there and who shouldn't, but in the end we can decide for ourselves whether we still want to have that list or not.

I hope this is not a protest against the imperfection of the system, this should be decided wisely and purely without drama. The impact is always there on a system that may not be as perfect as one would like it to be, maybe it will be even greater if this becomes a trend for some other DT1. But of course no one forces us to have this particular trust list.
2823  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 12, 2022, 06:31:33 AM
I thought it might have been a DDoS or such but it seems from your response it might be something else. If you are unable to elaborate because it might give clues to adversaries and to others that might have repercussions for your business then that is understandable but the first complaint about being unable to access your website was on 6th August yet your first post related to the issue was on 10th August.

Reading the posts between, some users seemed worried and others confused because they had not read anything from you. It is completely understandable you must have been busy sorting out the issue and getting the website operating again but making a post to reassure users might have been much appreciated by those concerned.

I do not use ChipMixer but wanted to visit the website to make some comparisons with other mixers to see what formats different websites follow (as there is no single rule/way to mix) but the website was down. I am glad your business is back up and running. It has an excellent reputation that is scam free.

Wishing you and your business continued success.

Can you elaborate on what actually happened and why the website was down for those 3 days?
I would like to elaborate but I cannot. That could give adversaries some clues.
2824  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk account hacking/phishing Alert on: August 12, 2022, 06:08:03 AM
Thank you for posting about it with screenshots.

I think this is the first time I have seen an attempt of this particular nature being sent in PMs. All users especially newbies are advised to take notice of the excellent work by the OP and avoid falling victim to these types of scams.

~snip~

If you look at the second screenshot closely you will discover the address in the address bar is not Bitcointalk

So once you fall victim by inputting your forum password your details will be stolen and your account gone.
2825  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone mistakenly tags you a negative trust and dies? on: August 12, 2022, 06:03:42 AM
Do not hold back, you are direct and to the point as always lovesmayfamilis  Grin

For the subject matter, I think all that could be said about has been said about it. If someone dies after leaving, whether he made a mistake or not the bigger sadness would be the member dying and not the one living with a negative tag.

The deceased would probably not leave instructions in his will asking loved ones to remove negative trusts therefore the OP probably has the answers.

This post made me think that in that case, we should share our password for bitcointalk, email, and maybe Facebook/Twitter/Instagram too to someone we can trust  Huh Maybe to the same person, we think can take care of our private keys   Huh

Do you really think this is a problem?

Let's assume that a person left a negative tag. I don't think it was a mistake. Nonetheless, And he himself died. Clap and it's gone.

And this man obliged his relatives, who did not understand the life of the forum, so that after his death, what would they do? It was explained to everyone what happened to the deceased? And that he still has a sin in the form of an incorrect tag? And they urgently need to sort things out?

Is it possible to continue the fantasy?

It seems to me that this is madness that is simply not worth discussing.

Died and died. All. Point. We drove. The one who stayed with the tag definitely should not die from this. Shocked
2826  Economy / Reputation / Re: The most influential people of the forum. Who are they? on: August 11, 2022, 06:11:02 PM
Not a single active poster on this forum in indispensable.
Absolutely true, indispensable is the key word.

It is all about rotation. Members come and members go... some move on and never return whereas some return rarely or intermittently. Others sadly pass away and that is life, that is the irony. In that process, the forum continues where new members come or not and/or whether existing members continue to frequent or not.

The ecosystem is in itself an amazing thing and that is it... remove the forum and there is nothing but remove the members then others will register.

Having said that I think the OP asked the question with a different intent to what was stated because he later redefined why he asked the question.

Congratulations on your amazing statistics  Wink

This raffle seems to be getting filled slowly but surely. Hopefully it will be ready to go within a week or so.

I cannot be sure but I think this is probably the second free raffle that I participated in and like others I am looking forward to the result when it takes place  Grin
2829  Economy / Reputation / Re: Only for the BOLD and Braves. Let's have a discussion. on: August 11, 2022, 06:51:08 AM
I don't know if this makes sense or is too complicated, but I could also imagine a type of lottery based on user IDs that over a certain period of time have fulfilled certain requirements, such that no inactive or really, objectively bad users can be chosen.
Something similar is already happening with the current DT rotation system. DT1 users adding others to their trust list thus giving them DT2 is something being manipulated by cliques therefore any new format should take that in to consideration. When it is done with genuine intent it is different but manipulation of the system takes many forms.

It could involve a certain number of users for each rank from Full Member to Legendary, with Legendary having sort of a majority maybe? Once you have been chosen in the lottery, your term ends after x months and you are not part of the next lottery anymore UNLESS, and this would then involve a community vote, for a predefined small number of spots it is possible for someone to be voted by the community to keep the status for another term (potentially indefinitely).
Any form of community vote would be open to manipulation by cliques. I would be against community votes to elect members otherwise it would be another way for egotistic cliques to a get a foothold to create more drama rather than to avoid it.

I do like the idea that once a user has carried out a particular role they cannot be selected again for 'x' length of time, that would severely hamper the drama queens and cliques if they ever in a position to create havoc.

A major problem I see is that as soon as someone has something to offer financially (e.g. bounty managers), the voting is almost automatically skewed (or maybe not as those who can't get in have reason to not vote for a manager always picking the same people).
This is always going to be problematic but goes beyond the finances involved and goes to the networks of members that collude. Thankfully most campaign/bounty managers seem more interested in their actual work rather than the politics and drama therefore would probably avoid putting their name forward.

This is of course still prone to manipulation as the predefined requirements in order for someone to 1) participate in the lottery and 2) receive a voting right can still be heavily influenced by, for instance, the merit sources.
Well I have been saying for some time the feedback system, trust system and merit system is broken. I think the merit system especially the merit source part is not fully functioning the way theymos would have wanted.

And as you said if voting for members comes in to play then those that already wield some influence in the forum could end up trying to use any means necessary to ensure they can get what they want (such as pre-defined requirements to participate in the lottery) when it comes to voting members in.

Just a thought experiment. Having some probabilistic element involved could make things much fairer I believe?
You put forward excellent ideas. Any suggestions which can help make the forum a better place is to be welcomed especially those can minimise or eliminate the efforts of the cliques that are not working for the wider benefits of the forum or the members.
2830  Economy / Reputation / Re: Only for the BOLD and Braves. Let's have a discussion. on: August 10, 2022, 05:44:18 PM
Well, that would be one side-effect of members deciding to delete their trust list. It is not just the scammers that it would become a haven for it would also become a haven for those that are already manipulating the feedback, trust and merit system for their own agenda.

If everyone mass drop out from the DT, would not it be a heaven for the scammers who have negative feedback???
2831  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 10, 2022, 03:23:10 PM
Can you elaborate on what actually happened and why the website was down for those 3 days?

Some people may have used ChipMixer for the first time and found the issue when trying to use the vouchers and it could have caused distress. Others may be long time ChipMixer users that would have been more confident nothing untoward was happening and the service would be up and running as soon as possible.

ChipMixer website is up again.

Session time is 7 days, website was not available for 3 days and therefore all sessions are still alive. Please use them right now.

If you have any problem, please write us an email. All emails up to now are responded.
2832  Economy / Reputation / Re: Clearing my trust list on: August 10, 2022, 03:01:14 PM
I don’t think it’s so broken..
Things are sorting themselves out as intended are they not?
Eventually yes but you did delete your own trust list around a year ago (I think you said) and during that time the system is still open to abuse and manipulation. Nothing has changed for the positive.

It’s just mediocre because that’s how democracy with mediocre inputs work.. You get mediocre outputs..
It’s not exactly a group of highly intelligent philosophers of a similar doctrine..
You are right, there are no highly intelligent philosophers here in the forum but some highly cunning individuals with ulterior motives are here. Mediocre is the key word here. Most of the agenda based inputs are culpable for the general low quality outputs visible in the forum today.

Democracy also slow and has a lot of debate before any decision is made and stuck with.. Not very efficient..

All from such varied cultures/beliefs from strict Islamic societies to atheist anarchists and communists what have you..
Diversity!
Yes the member base in the forum with all the local language boards (even with own problems) is something to marvel at and the small economies each has generated (from trading and/or avatar and signature campaigns) is at least a success story in itself.

Almost a miracle anything gets done at all and it’s not all out war..
This is true  Grin
2833  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why was franky1 banned from Dev & Tech? on: August 10, 2022, 02:47:26 PM
As mentioned, there have been a couple of cases I know of but surely many others exist.

The way I see it, if the member was posting constructively here and there but quite clearly was spamming too, depending on the content and quality of their non-spam posting there might be cases where signature banning would be preferred over a temporary ban.

Keeping those aside, now that is has happened, I do think the same for options can be considered on a case-by-case basis for banning a member on a particular board rather than temporary or even outright ban.

I know some users in the past have been allowed to continue posting but were not allowed to display signatures until a specific time and that was probably due to spamming, also is not mentioned as a rule as far as I am aware.

Yes, People were used to getting Signature bans Because of Non-Constructive posts/ Spam. From the Search Result, I found . This guy was getting a signature ban due to low-value posts. But, after merit's introduction, Users don't get a signature ban due to low-value posts. Now people get a Signature ban as an Additional ban with Temp-Ban. There was a log on BPIP for Signature banned users. According to BPIP, creeps was the last guy to get a Signature ban.

After looking at how several cliques and trolls manipulate the system to suit their own agenda
This is a valid point and, I don't know, maybe we should not wait for a "divine intervention" to fix this (although maybe a differentiation would be needed between trusting and empowering users).
I think theymos would make amendments and modifications to the forum structure as long as he thought it was something that was needed. Plenty of members do think it should be fixed because clearly it has been open to abuse by trolls and cliques for far too long.

It is not a good idea having distinctions between "trusting" and "empowering" users. Empower? There will never be full consensus on which members should be appointed with empowerment attached to them and what would they do with power? It would only empower their cliques whilst alienating others.

Several members have bloated egos and are as duplicitous and untrustworthy as they come, but by virtue of being part of a clique (and by subliminally encouraging others to do their trolling and attacking) they could be candidates. I would be unable to vouch for such an outcome and I am sure others will feel the same way and express it if a candidate list was ever drawn up.

In such a scenario the cliques would obviously put forward their candidates and support them with all their keyboard typing power.

Because while some fight each other and may have both good intentions (yes, I know that in this context this statement can explode), some real trolls simply get stronger. I won't tell names since I don't have solid proof, so it's just a hunch.
Yes, agreed. Many times hunches turn out to be correct though  Grin

Maybe a new topic in Meta is needed to get ideas how to use better the current trust system. One idea that came into my mind was to select carefully a very short list of users we want to "empower". Or maybe it should be as wide as possible?!
Opening a topic in Meta would be a good idea in order for members to put forward ideas and have healthy debate as to how to confront it and fix it in such a manner that it is not open to abuse any longer.

2836  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone mistakenly tags you a negative trust and dies? on: August 10, 2022, 11:46:45 AM
I am sure many people already have taken steps to avoid a disaster such as losing access to email accounts, social media accounts, maybe shopping websites and of course crypto wallets. That is somewhat different to someone accessing this website regarding the thread title but still is important.

It is difficult to trust that information with a lawyer who will release it in the form of a will after death therefore people probably make it up as they go along. Some could write down credentials and leave it in a safe place and others can basically give it to who they want on the basis they trust they will not access the websites and wallets until/unless death has occurred.

Would anybody inherit a login for the forum and then use it to edit tags as per a will? That really would be a first  Grin

Its been told and advised many times that we should arrange to tell our wallet private keys to someone very close to us, so in case we die, the money can be used by the family members and is not wasted lying in the wallets which no one can access.

This post made me think that in that case, we should share our password for bitcointalk, email, and maybe Facebook/Twitter/Instagram too to someone we can trust  Huh Maybe to the same person, we think can take care of our private keys   Huh
2837  Economy / Reputation / Re: Clearing my trust list on: August 10, 2022, 10:12:46 AM
I did the same a week ago.  Tongue
This might be something worth considering as there is a method to the madness  Smiley

I did the same thing like a year ago, with the low priority intention to eventually rebuild my inclusions list, but yet haven’t..
You must have been one of the first to have a total clear out of the list. I recall one other member doing so a couple of years ago.

Will you ever get round to rebuilding it or has the current state of play at how badly the system is broken keeping it a low priority?

But I didn't understand, could any of the people who participated here clarify a bit more, since drama was talked about: as an example, do you consider JollyGood to be the problem on DT1 or Royse777? Because one is tagging the other for scamming, and the other is accusing the first of abusing the trust system. So you can't say both, because Royse777 is either a scammer or he isn't. You can't just say "well, let's stay neutral and forget about it, nothing to see here".
Everybody is expressing their views and each has their own reasons for doing so.

I just have the feeling though that the few voices left talking against and tagging scammers are about to get booted out from DT1.
I mentioned in a different thread the feedback, trust and merit system needs a complete overhaul.

After looking at how several cliques and trolls manipulate the system to suit their own agenda, it still clear it cannot continue as it currently does yet still be considered as an appropriate barometer because it quote clearly is not.
2838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA World Cup 2022: Tournament Discussion Thread for Qatar 2022 on: August 10, 2022, 08:15:16 AM
I think it is right that human rights is highlighted as an issue of major significance when these types of international events take place. It allows messages to be sent out to a massive audience. Others such as Lahm can make their point by boycotting.

I do think Qatar addressed a lot of the criticism and complaints when it was challenged about the labourers that were working on the stadiums, they improved pay and conditions but people have their own views on what subjects should be prioritised. Maybe Kane will talk about one thing and Lloris another and Eriksen another...

Some good news coming in.

German legend Philipp Lahm (captain of the world cup winning team of 2014) has stated that he will boycott Qatar 2022.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-11095127/Philipp-Lahm-plans-BOYCOTT-World-Cup-Qatar.html

I am happy that at least some of the footballers view human rights as more valuable then all the money power which Qatar can offer. The human rights issue was swept under the carpet when FIFA awarded Qatar hosting rights for the world cup in 2010. But now more and more players are speaking against this issue. And also, it is reported that hotels in Qatar are refusing to accept room reservations for LQBTQ couples. When Gareth Southgate spoke against this, Nasser Al Khater tried to intimidate him.
2839  Other / Meta / Re: Is a user able to Trust/Distrust even when they are banned? on: August 10, 2022, 07:44:33 AM
Those adding and removing after they were banned is something that is allowed in the rules otherwise it would not be allowed, therefore he did it to suit his needs as he tried to battle to have his ban overturned. The issue is: should it be allowed?

Keeping the ban aside, his suspected alt-accounts have also played their part in open or subtle ways too. He is not the only one there are too many members that have manipulated the trust system for a long time.

A couple of years ago there was a massive push from members of a particular language board (that I will not name) trying to become merit source as well as on DT. A lot of manipulation and nonsense was going on that time then after several months it subsided.

This user was trying to use his account to climb up the ladder as soon as possible in order to jump on signature campaigns and was willing to become pals with any and all for it. Now that the account is banned he will have to create some others in order join signature campaigns.. probably already has alt-accounts.

Yes it is possible to add or remove members from their trust list after they have been banned because they can still access their account. Not that I care about his opinion but it happened to me when I refused to support alt-accounts naim027 and Dic3L0v3r in his attempt at getting his ban overturned.

If you look closely, that user has been modifying their DT trust/distrust list on and off every few weeks since they were first banned...  (and before too)

Week 165 they added 100 distrusts, Banned circa week 175 (and made numerous tweeks) - week 176 reversed the previous weeks' settings.  Week 184 reversed again.  Week 185 added more to both trust/distrust.
2840  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone mistakenly tags you a negative trust and dies? on: August 10, 2022, 06:57:58 AM
If he dies immediately after giving a wrong trust, then it would mean that he got the punishment of death for his mistake  Cheesy
He will be answerable to god for the mistake he did in the world hereafter.  Smiley
Ah well, imagine living a punishment filled eternity in the hereafter just for leaving a negative feedback  Shocked

There may be some serious answers to this discussion but I don't think this could happen. Maybe 0.001% chance of a person dying after giving a bad trust.  Roll Eyes
Seriously though, there is no chance anything can happen to that trust/feedback because the only way to remove it would be for the someone to log in to that account and remove/edit it and since the person would be deceased it is highly unlikely to happen unless multiple people share those login detailed.
