These are the results from the rest of the games played today:

Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Leicester City 2-2 Brighton and Hove Albion
Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa
West Ham United 2-0 Everton

Everton suffered another loss therefore their manager Lampard will probably not be able to keep his job much longer. Well done to Moyes at West Ham for winning the game after he was under immense pressure. Aston Villa have another impressive result at Southampton and so do Nottingham Forest at Bournemouth.

9 wins in a row now for the United team. I think they owe the successes mainly to the new trainer, who dared not to put Ronaldo in the starting line-up and thus managed to force a transfer. It was a gamble, if it had gone any worse after that, he would have had all the criticism. Perhaps Ten Hag is not a big personality, but he has a clear vision with football and he was also very successful at Ajax. He brings out the best in players at this club. I hope United can continue their winning streak and keep up with Arsenal in the long run. They are quite a few points ahead, but United are in absolute top form. The same does not apply to Liverpool. How City stands now is difficult to sketch. Also lose a lot of points. I would have thought that they would be even stronger and more dominant this season with the presence of Haaland.
Yes all credit to Erik ten hag for the winning mentality and discipline brought back to the team again, seeing this Manchester United team play again gives me joy because the days Manchester United played good football with this winning mentality was interesting but long gone ... I wasn't really happy about how he managed the Whole RONALDO saga but the most important thing is the team are heading in the right direction, and that is because of his zero tolerance to indiscipline. Let's watch to see how strongly they finish this season because there is still a long way to go in the league.

RESULT:

Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

This result does not help either Liverpool or Chelsea as they both are desperate to try to catch the teams occupying the top four positions. After they shared a point each it makes almost no different to them in the Premier League table. The best part of the match was watching Mudryk play, he will be a superstar at Chelsea and could be the catalyst to propel them to a top five finish.
1965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: January 21, 2023, 10:07:33 AM
These are the games taking place today:

Liverpool vs Chelsea
Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest
Leicester City vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Southampton vs Aston Villa
West Ham United vs Everton
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United

I think Chelsea will win in the midday kick-off at Anfield because Liverpool are just as much vulnerable as they are but the Chelsea players seem to have more hunger. If Liverpool win can Potter carry on as though it is fine because he is guaranteed his job or will a defeat for Klopp mean his replacement is being talked about?

Elsewhere, I expect West Ham United to beat Everton (and Lampard might be sacked following the game) and also expect Newcastle United to get a draw at Crystal Palace.

1968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK sponsored by Utopia on: January 20, 2023, 07:00:11 PM
Fury already mentioned last year that he accepts a 50/50 split. If there is someone that can be a little greedy and can even demand a little increase of the share if in case the fight happens in Wembly, it should be Usyk since he's not getting a neutral venue and has been exploited by the judges there when he fought AJ twice.
If I recall correctly, Fury even offered 60/40 or 50/50 to Joshua to fight in December therefore money cannot be the main factor here. Both boxers are fighting the clock, they are not getting any younger and would like to get their name in the history book.

I guess the contention is that it's Fury's home town, so he is the one bringing fans to the sit in Wembley and so deserves more than tha 50/50 split and should be treated as the A-side.
I believe Fury is from the north of the country and most definitely not from London but having the fight anywhere in the UK would be a sell-out and most of the public in the stadium would be rooting for Fury. Having said that, does it really mean he deserves more than 50% share of the purse, I am not sure about that.

Who puts the most bums on the the seats? Fury, right? Even if you're a Usyk fan I'm sure you can admit that Fury has the most following. Now, whether or not he's the better fighter remains to be seen, but considering how popular Fury is I can see why he does get the majority of the share. Usyk doesn't seem like the person to squabble over money too much though, so I expect if both parties genuinely want this fight, there won't be any money issues.

I can't help, but hope Fury clears the division first by beating Joshua, and Usyk. If he loses, I can't see him stopping either. He's had problems with not being involved in boxing in the past, and that could play into his decision to retire. Which, unfortunately means he'll probably rack up a few losses in his career towards the end.
The reality is Fury is far bigger a name than Usyk or Joshua or any other heavyweight and without a doubt he can use his popularity to his advantage. I think he is far too clever to get beaten before he retires, I see him refusing to fight Joshua but if it happened and belts were on the line it would be good for British boxing but probably a very bad day for Joshua as it will be another defeat.

Fury is not exactly young therefore if he achieves his goal of being unified champion (and becomes even wealthier in the process), he has got everything he ever wanted therefore changing career and retiring would not be such a bad thing if he can just make that step. I doubt he will fight Joshua because he already stated he will never fight him most probably because he could have him in December but ended up fighting Chisora when Joshua refused to get in the ring with Fury.

I think Fury should seriously think about retiring after the Usyk fight regardless of who wins or if he beats Usyk as expected he should make just one defence of his unified belts before retiring as undisputed heavyweight champion.

He's not young but he's not exactly old either and I'd say he's still in his peak right now but the as the years pass that will quickly dwindle. AJ is still one of the biggest fights for them both so that's why he will want it and it's something British fans have been calling for for years. It's a guaranteed sellout and blockbuster event. I'm pretty sure it would even do more PPV buys than the Usyk fight. Tyson may or may not retire but most boxers end up fighting well past their prime. They either need the money or just can't seem to let it go (and is self-admittedly the case with Tyson). What else is he going to do? Just train others? Maybe, but boxing gives them motivation and discipline and without it they become lost and easily fall into bad habits.
Fury seems to have a settled down life with his wife and kids therefore I cannot see him spiralling out of control after he retires. The problem with fighters approaching mid-30s is that they can get complacent and suffer shock losses. Fury will not risk it, I mean if he beats Usyk does he really need to fight again? Yes any Fury vs Joshua fight would sell-out but in the end does Fury need it especially if he is holding the belts and Joshua has none?

Maybe Fury can control himself and have motivations as well as discipline outside of a life away from the boxing ring. He deserves it after dominating in and off for many years.

1970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: January 20, 2023, 12:40:39 AM
It shows how much depth the Manchester City team have when they get booed at half-time by their own fans but return for the second half and effectively dominate against Tottenham. Guardiola must have given a passionate team talk trying to get his team to increase their level.

Now they must be hoping Arsenal lose to Manchester United so they stay just 5 points behind Arsenal. If Manchester United beat Arsenal it will mean Arsenal stay first on 47 points but both Manchester teams will have 42 points and be second and third in the table. It is turning out to be an exciting season especially watching Newcastle United join the chase.

Maybe Tottenham can be added to the chasing pack but they have disappointed recently. Conte will only stay if he receives funds to buy the players he wants but will it happen while Levy is chairman? If the rumours are true about a possible takeover then at least the new buyers will pour funds in to the team therefore Conte might be waiting around before deciding to quit.

Lol I didn't watch the first half, but I was surprised to see Tottenham leading by 2:0; they've been terrible after the world cup break, and I knew their luck wouldn't last long. Whatever Pep told his boys at halftime must be studied because this type of comeback does not happen very often. I don't see Conte staying  beyond this season, as the club has not made significant investments to improve the team

Arsenal fans can continue to fantasize while it lasts; it's only a matter of time before we find out who the true contenders and pretenders are. I'm hoping Manutd can make the job easier this weekend; Arsenal fans have recently become too loud.

RESULT:

Manchester City 4-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham scored two quick goals at the end of the first half to lead 0-2 at half-time. Just six minutes in to the second half Manchester City scored. Then two minutes later they scored again to equalise. Another ten minute they scored and took the lead and on the 90th minute they scored a final time.

Manchester City are 5 points behind Arsenal at the top of the table. Looking at this form, I would favour Manchester City to win the league not Arsenal.

1974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: January 19, 2023, 07:28:29 PM
There is one game taking place this evening:

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

If Manchester City win they will close the gap down to just 5 points behind leaders Arsenal. Tottenham are in desperate need of points to get closer to 4th placed Newcastle United. This should be a good match to watch. I think Manchester City will win this fairly comprehensively, something like 3-0.

As for Manchester United, I think that was a classic example of why a second goal was needed to ensure a win. They should have had a penalty but the referee was not interested and that cost Manchester United especially after Casemiro was booked therefore will not be available for the trip to Arsenal. Crystal Palace scored a brilliant goal from the free-kick and fully deserved that goal after they never gave up but Ten Hag should have taken off Casemiro around the 70 minute mark as he was needed for the game against Arsenal. In the end, they dropped two points and will face Arsenal without him.

Full credit to Crystal Palace for their determination to not lose the game. That last ditch tackle by Wan-Bissaka on Zaha before he could try to shoot was just an example of brilliant defending and timing to get the ball and to not give away a penalty. Crystal Palace could have won the game at the end but it was a draw.

The result of the Manchester United match was really shocking to me. I was expecting a comfortable win for them as I said before. Actually their game was impressive especially in the first half. They were in control and successful about keeping Crystal Palace away from their goal as much as possible.

While they were this much dominant they would have had a bigger score advantage than 1-0. But they couldn't score another goal throughout the match and it was a big chance for their opponent to score the equalizer. That free-kick goal by Michael Olise was worth watching indeed. De Gea did his best to save but he didn't have much to do there. Otherwise his performance in the whole match was delightful.

Even if $25 is given away in that thread there needs a tamper proof and transparent method of selecting the winner.
No, he doesn't need that. I think this is what eddie13 called "regulatory bullying". Bitcointalk is all about freedom, and if someone wants to give away $25 in a non-transparent way, that's fine. If you don't like it, don't join.
Giving away in a non-transparent way is fine by you but not fine by all. Some members want transparency. As may have been noticed by others, I did not join for those precise reasons.

In that thread we get to post #6 before a suggestion is made on how to select the winner and the OP replies in post #7 that he will spin a wheel or maybe ask a trustworthy member to do it. There is no clarity on exactly what is happening but the benefit of the doubt is given because they are a newbie. To a point I can understand that but it is down to members participating in the giveaway to ask the most basic of questions.

Quote
What is worse is that most members lined up to participate without even asking for clarity and many of them were here a long time.
I joined. I don't want to annoy a new user with questions and hoops to jump through. If he doesn't select a winner, we'll know it was fake. But I don't want to discourage genuine users from running giveaways.
Yes you did join, that is a decision for you and mentioned in your joining post that you had some communication with them therefore you might be more inclined to believe them (though there is no evidence to disbelieve them either).

I have seen newbies get tagged red for simply asking for a loan in the Lending board yet there seems to be a different mindset when it comes to giveaways.

If a newbie comes along and says he is giving away 10 BTC, will you avoid asking questions (and expect others to not ask questions) purely on the basis you do not want them to jump through hoops just in the event he is genuinely going to give away 10 BTC? If that is your stance then that is for you but not everybody feels that way.
1977  Other / Archival / Re: Another fake bitcoin giveaway? on: January 19, 2023, 11:44:10 AM
Really hard to tell if the giveaway is legit or not. I'm not sure either. That's why I haven't given merit yet. In november last year there was a $25 giveaway from a new user and the win was paid out, see here. So all we can really do is wait and see what will happen.  Roll Eyes
As with most things, time will tell. Unless there is compelling evidence there is not much that can be said but the OP has made a case that presents suspicions and I thank him for his efforts.

I found it odd especially as the number of forum members jumped on to participate without asking any questions.
Asking questions (such as "escrow?") only discourages Newbies. I've seen genuine giveaways, and I've seen fakes. If it's real, it deserves Merit because it's worth reading. The fact that it only earned 1 Merit already shows people have their doubts. If it's fake, we'll see soon enough and nothing is lost.
I never mentioned merits, the first to mention merits was the OP followed by DaveF.

Though not mandatory, if the OP of the giveaway thread had mentioned using escrow as an option himself without being prompted then maybe that would have given more credibility. If he already used a respected escrow then started the giveaway thread then this thread would not have been created.

As for questions, something such as these should have been asked:

"what do you do on the other forums you mentioned"
"how much have you given away on other forums"
"Why are you giving away money on other forums and now here"
as well as the all-important question "how do you in intend to pick a winner and why did you not announce the method of selecting the winner in the OP"

In regards to the @Rbah account, while the writing style and giveaway topic discussed are similar to the previous account, I believe that the evidence is still not conclusive enough. However, the coincidence of matching registration and last activity dates with ArabianFella should not be ignored.
Yes you are right it is not conclusive but 24th January is not far away. Even if $25 is given away in that thread there needs a tamper proof and transparent method of selecting the winner.

Of course, these are not direct accusations, as circumstantial evidence is presented, just some thoughts for reflection. In addition, Rbah has written very few posts in order to conduct a full-fledged posting analytics, but the account is extremely suspicious and already has several similarities with the previous organizer of such a lottery.
You did nothing wrong by creating this thread. To a degree we can negate the problems created by lack of information in that giveaway thread because the creator is a newbie but to not make it clear in the OP how a winner will be selected is not good. What is worse is that most members lined up to participate without even asking for clarity and many of them were here a long time.

For those that do not know, I am running a free lottery and you can enter there if you are interested: JollyGood Free Lottery #1: FURY vs USYK

RESULT:

Crystal Palace 1-1 Manchester United

The game ended in a draw after Crystal Palace equalised in time added-on with a brilliant free-kick. It seemed like Manchester United would win the game but after Casemiro got booked in the 80th minute (which means he will not play in the Arsenal game after four days), they were vulnerable and Crystal Palace pushed to try to score.
1979  Other / Archival / Re: Another fake bitcoin giveaway? on: January 18, 2023, 10:15:49 PM
No, it is not a cynical view at all. We all are entitled to our opinions and they are based on what we see and/or gut feelings.

Apparently he claims to be active on other forums and is known for giving money away. His suggested method to select a winner was using a roll of the wheel though he said he could ask a trusted member to do it. I think both options would not be transparent. Maybe this will turn out all fine or maybe it will not, time will tell.

One of his alts that we don't know about will win. What else did you think was going to happen. Trying to build trust and / or merit.

That do it a few times and people see him paying out gets some trust and / or merit then the scamming begins.

Or is that to cynical?

I remember seeing the post from that user and I did have some reservations about it at the time as it was from a newbie.

I found it odd especially as the number of forum members jumped on to participate without asking any questions. In the end we have to wait to see what happens on or around 24th January when he claims he will pay the money.
