It should be in Meta instead. Negging the user wouldn't do anything to stop the spam. The user looks like it should have been banned by now.

If you ever get this kind of messages again, use the report to admin function and report it as unsolicited junk PM.

Ah, I see, sorry was a bit unclear with that sort of stuff. Do you think in the future we will be able to prevent these sort of spam bots? Say we can ip ban them or something like that?

Anyways, thanks lauda for the neg.

2823  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [INVEST] Looking to invest 0.5 to 10 BTC on: August 19, 2017, 11:28:05 AM
I'm looking to invest (ASAP) in an idea (BTC OR altcoin related) which has the potential to earn and is easy to setup  I'm based in the UK have many skills I can bring to the table including Article writing and SEO, Video editing and Youtube channel management, Web development and design and all the legal aspects. I'd ask for a 50-50 share if you want to invest together or less depending on the scale of the project.

Or we could just chat about potential business opportunities and start something together.

No dodgy ideas or scams. Post here or pm me

I am currently managing a campaign for litra.site. They have a new ico that should change healthcare and it is definitely interesting. I would recommend investing a few your coins there, especially with the 25% bonus currently going on.

Ann thread is here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2088372.0, and website can be found on litra.site.

Be sure to send me a pm or post on the ann if your interested.
2824  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User "serenawild" spamming his fake BTC transaction accelerator on: August 19, 2017, 11:24:54 AM
LOL

You can put anything in the text and it just works. Pretty sure "good scam" isn't a proper transaction id, well that scam was easily busted.

Pretty sure there is no way for someone to accelerate a transaction unless they own half of all miners or something. Plus no one would charge 0.001 for a transaction accelerator anyway.
2825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is best cold storage for bitcoin? on: August 19, 2017, 11:18:41 AM
My opinion is that the best store of bitcoin is the account verified on the exchange. First, you always have the ability to quickly sell their bitcoins, and secondly you can earn by selling and buying coins. Why keep it in the fridge?

Holy crap.

Exchanges are the worst and most insecure places to store bitcoin. They aren't as convenient as mobile or online wallets and they aren't as safe as them. Some forms of online wallets even protect against the hard fork, while with exchanges you have a zero percent chance of doing that.

Just use electrum.
2826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is best cold storage for bitcoin? on: August 19, 2017, 11:15:05 AM
What best cold storage for bitcoin?
How think Is paper wallet good for it?
I want use cold storage for save my bitcoin, need your advices friends..
Thanks for help.

Firstly, just to clear up some confusion, examples of cold storage include:

Hardware Wallets
These wallets are shaped as a usb and contain your private keys and all your Bitcoin. Some examples include ledger wallets and trezors.

Paper Wallets
A document that contains all your private keys.

Physical Bitcoin
A physical item that contains your bitcoins.
2827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is hoarding bitcoins good or bad for it's growth? on: August 19, 2017, 11:06:40 AM
Now there are many hodlers among us Grin Is the practice of holding bitcoins good or bad for it's growth?

I had recently come across a statement that bitcoin is a settlement system rather than store of value/digital gold and holding bitcoins is somewhat making it accessible to rich people only.

Arguments in favor of hoarding bitcoins:

1. Since bitcoins are limited in numbers, holding would obviously increase the demand and thus the price.

2. Bitcoin as a commodity/hoarding, as a currency/spending. So once the price increases, what we earlier bought for 1 BTC can buy it now for 0.5.

3. Merchants would prefer BTC over USD. (In the hopes that prices would increase)

4. Bitcoin is divisible. Everyone cannot own 5 or 10 BTC, but still holding on to a few satoshis would be profitable in the long-term.

Now there are some arguments against holding:

1. Deflation.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deflationary_spiral

Quote
The ‘deflationary spiral’ is a real condition that affects the popular fractional reserve backing system. Bitcoin is not affected by this because it is fundamentally different from popular currency.

2. If the elites gets hold of majority of bitcoins, the demand and price would be high, but since the common man would not be able to afford it, demand decreases, elites dump, price crashes, common man buys some, market stabilizes a bit, and elites buys back more. It kind of becomes a centralized holding affair.

3. Rather than hoarding, an environment where bitcoins are more used as a mode of payment for buying goods or services is more beneficial for it's growth.

So what do you think, is hoarding bitcoins good or bad for it's growth?

Edited the poll.
In my opinion, I think that HODLing is good and bad for Bitcoin due to a couple of reasons

Good
Holding reduces how many transactions are being made and therefore it rises the price. With a high Bitcoin price people get attracted and bitcoin becomes even more popular

Bad
How will people ever think that Bitcoin is more than an investment if people just keep holding. There is no way for Bitcoin to grow and become a currency for the future if we keep just holding Bitcoin.

Kenlarkier seems to be sending random spam messages, not sure if anyone else is getting this other than me. He is offering Bitcoin mining / account management and is basically asking for access to someones bitcoin private keys. A brand new account, which seems to be created for the sole purpose of spamming users.

!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!

3 weeks ago, bitcoin had its greatest fall from $2700 to $1995 but today it has risen to $4071 per bitcoin. I am saying this, not to confuse anyone but to prove a point to you that bitcoin will still rise in the nearest future and will be a generally accepted digital currency world wide, don't be deceived by the rise and fall of bitcoin and take this advantage to invest with the right trading company, where you can make real funds with a registered trading company. Contact me with kenlarkier@gmail.com  if you need a good account manager to handle your online trading account with insurance.

Thanks!

2831  Economy / Exchanges / Re: REAL or FAKE bitcoin company on: August 19, 2017, 08:45:19 AM
what is the difference between real or fake bitcoin company? how can we conclude that A company is fake and B company is the real one Shocked Grin

A bit confused what you mean there, how can you have a fake bitcoin company and a real one. Are you asking how to determine if someone is giving you real bitcoin or not?

Well, the answer to that is pretty simple. Right now there isn't a lot of people who have enough knowlodgege of bitcoin to fully recreate it so that means no one can ever scam you with a fake version of bitcoin.

2836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: August 18, 2017, 12:39:53 AM
Hello pals,
Recently I introduced Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to my friends and family, they liked the concept but they asked me a question that I wasn't able to answer. Is Bitcoin really secure? What if a hacker was able to hack Bitcoin system/blockchain?Who manages Bitcoin security and what are the security measures taken to avoid hackers being able to steal Bitcoins? Why Bitcoin is not blocked for those who use it illegally by buying/selling in the deepweb market? What if governements ban Bitcoin because of these people?
I really appreciate if you  guys give me some answers
Bitcoin is secure if you take measures to make it secure. For example, if you did buy a hardware wallet such as a Ledgerwallet or a trezor, you wouldn't be able to be hacked, unless they had physical access to your wallet, and that would be hard to do, if you kept the wallet on you.

Other wallets, are less secure especially online ones but only people with small amount of bitcoin use those wallets.
2837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: looking for a serious way to earn 1-2btc on: August 18, 2017, 12:25:45 AM
All i can offer is my time ... i have no special abilities

Well, since you don't have any skills to offer, the next best thing to offer is your time, and heaps of it. You can try find a job being live support and you could probably earn like 12 dollars an hour from doing that, which is more than 300 hours of work before you can get a btc.

You can risk some of your own money and invest in alt coins or try join some bounties that offer tokens for rewards.
