veteran poster labeling every new member "fraudster" need to cool it. I like NEM, i have asked my friends to join NEM, they paid for it with real money, how can we be sure NEM itself is not a scam? This tread is more than 40 pages long and half of it is filled with people complaining about other peoples stake. Nem wants to attract new people , why would a newbie join NEM if all you so called "veterans" label us newbies "fraudster". NEM has a very small chance of succeeding in this already flooded cryptomarket , we are all taking a punt and some have gambled more than others, that does not mean they are frauds. A lot of .04 or .05 btc will add up. If we truly want NEM to succeed, we need to be more welcoming. Someone can just start a new coin following the same initial distribution model ( future coin ![Angry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/angry.gif) ) then we are left with just another cheap crypto if even that. Veterans I don't mean to offend but rather than bickering lets welcome everyone( we need all the help we can get) and think of ways to make NEM a better coin. We need a market place where all NEM stake holders should initially put at least one tangible stuff for sale priced solely in NEM coin. If we can achieve that,we would have managed to outpace almost all these other crypto coins. It's not about the newbies - I'm one myself. It's about people that try to get more than 2 stakes. It's supposed to be even - everyone should get the same amount of NEM.

Later taint analyses will be used to reduce further the amount of big NEM stake holders. These are best efforts to spread NEM widely and evenly to a huge user base and it is already better than the best effort to date: counter-party protocol.
Well then plz consider my last to posts in you taint analysis as i think it's a big fish among the multiaccs. Take a note of these cases as we will use that in a public auditing after the fund raising is over. But I expect the auditing is the community's effort not mine - we can go as far as the community wants to go. After all the development fund belongs to NEM's community and to be used by the developers/ community to build the crypto we love. Well I'm willing to search that blockchain for hours. If we find a handfull other people that are willing to as well we should find most of the bigger multi accs.

When will be the coin released? Any time period? Or how many people should be stakeholders to get started?
4k is the max cap for stakeholders 3k is considered optimal so it'll prol be something between that or even below 3k if many fraudsters are found.

However, I wrote just to express a bit worry that there seems to be some unfair multi buyin. Not 3-5 stakes are bought by one person. >20 or evern > 100 stakes have been bought by someone. I am in a Chinese QQ group on nxt discussion. I heard from someone in the group saying that one of his friend bought 150 NEM stakes and himself owned 20 stakes. I'm shocked by this news. I thought there must be sth wrong. I agree that more paid, more gain. However, it goes too far from the fair purpose of NEM. If 3000 stakes will be sold, 150 means 5% of total amount. That comes to the case of NXT! Anyone holding greater than 10 stakes may make fairness of NEM UNFAIRNESS.
Me too, I want to know what will be the limit, 0.2%, 0.4% 0.8%? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) We'll see how many stakes have is the limit. They already warned us:"In short - We can't. Multiple buy-in will be possible with multiple accounts. We also want you to have the ability to buy a NEM stake for your loved ones so they could all join the movement. However accumulating many NEM stakes goes against NEM's principles of fairness and equality, therefore the development team reserves the right to refund you the money if an effort to unfairly accumulate NEM stakes is discovered." So what is it now. Will it be considered donation or refunded ?

I am on the Stakeholder page! How do I claim my NEM? looking at the blockchain, it appears to be live now? =)
what blockchain are you looking at ? Did I miss something really major ?!

If we want to convey equality how about a scale: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Favrilcarpenter.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F04%2F600px-scales_even_icon-svg.png&t=663&c=0fYHGHUTcxztCg) This is just from google as inspiration ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

NXT 0.6.0 was released. AFAIK this version is the one they were holding back a little due to major refactoring they were trying to keep away from clones as long as possible.
Is this verison going to be the base for NEM ?

Really cool, but can we get a "flat" version. Like something that would feel at home in iOS. Also, can you make a version without the coin, but just the 8 lines representing NEM? Actually, I was sketching logos last night and came up with the same idea as you, representing NEM with the 8 lines. I think it is the way to go for a logo.
Ok, flattened it quite a bit more and also aligned the characters: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm4.staticflickr.com%2F3790%2F12325050555_d165590db1_n.jpg&t=663&c=eruLKpyyzVbowA) I think the variety for this design is now big enough as a proposal. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I prefered it when it was more metal looking and black. I recommend going for a real rough industrial metal look keeping with the egalitarian 'communist' image. Communist ? Really ? It's called NEW ECONOMY MOVEMENT and we're going for a communist look ? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

wow...the new website design feels like 2 steps back. I could see that work with black, grey and white but the blue is just...almost random...why that awful blue ?

I much prefer the "E" being the same height now, but personally, I don't like how the rim reminds of a casino chip.
Thanks for your honest feedback. I think I got stuck a bit on some of the elements in that design. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Here are my last two attempts to play a bit with the basic idea: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.staticflickr.com%2F5529%2F12326043923_e0cfdcd78e_n.jpg&t=663&c=NFHC7S2bijtCHg) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm3.staticflickr.com%2F2872%2F12326457704_4d3ff2e2e8_n.jpg&t=663&c=auGFkSouOgybag) As mentioned, all proposals are available on this flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/116462858@N08/I will quit working on these for now in order to leave room for some other ideas from other people. I really like the white one ! Best one I've seen so far (and still remember ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ) I would put the writing "new economy movement" below the "NEM" but other than that it's awesome. Also if we where to decide to move away from a coinish design, i can totally see that work without the white circle.

Should we maybe have a thread dedicated to problems and complaints about stake registration ? I feel like important and interesting discussion in this thread drown in questions regading stakes and stuff.
Just a suggestion.

The user earn coins by running a node. The difference is that timekoin has an infinite number of coins that can be generated and the there are no fees i think.
Imho it'd be better to keep the systems as is regarding distribution of coins i.e. finite number and fees. An infinite number of coins will create inflation like crazy and people probably won't buy into it in the first place. Obviously we then need the fees to reward people for forging. POS/PON in general i think are great ideas. I think it'll be important to find the right balance between POS and PON. E.g. how long will it take me to forge a block with little or no NEM but a node that is running 24/7 ? I think this could also eliminate the complaints from people that the rich get ritcher with the current Nxt - POS implementation. Just to through out numbers to start a discussion - I think 40 % POS / 60 % PON could be fair. I think this would reflect that you're helping NEM more by running a node than hoarding your coins. Thoughts ?

I cant find me in the stakeholder list but paid 0.05 BTC whats wrong?
On which page are you in the registration thread. The list is manually updated and may just not be up-to-date.

This is really great! We should make a "white" version too. This is such a great design that we could probably make t-shirts/leather jackets with this coin on it.
Thank you for the kind words! Looking forward to see the first NEM leather jacket. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I have also added a light design: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm8.staticflickr.com%2F7400%2F12316730113_bbf4402f3a_n.jpg&t=663&c=T7ulO2AsQ6aitw) Really cool, but can we get a "flat" version. I hope we're not ciritzizing you too much - Just wan't to get it right ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Shouldn't the top and bottom of the letters be aligned ? I don't know if it would still fit into the coin if the "spread" is kept equal for all letters but the "E" currently looks a bit unaligned (I guess you wanted to keep the space between the lines equal).

Edit: This was meant as a reply to Patmast3r.
It's a lot of work going through that whole list, and at this point things seem to have slowed down a bit, so perhaps they should ended a bit earlier. Since most people buying a stake now probably bought some before.
There's still a lot of people who don't know about Cryptocurrencies, but have PayPal that I'm trying to talk some people into buying NEM. It's all too complicated for them, but for the price I wouldn't feel right if this coin became popular and they missed out.
So I would suggest to close the registration the way it currently is and only allow new people that have PayPal. That way we get more people new blood into Cryptocurrency through NEM. We would all benefit more that way. And with PayPal a person cannot create multiple accounts. I believe Utopianfuture will probably get to see their real name, perhaps home address.
I think today the ads on reddit should go online so things should speed up again soon ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Also there is a possiblity to buy in via PayPal but it's a lot of work for utopian.

Any idea when NEM will be released?
No ETA yet. Registration will be closed around 3k stakeholders. We're currently around 2k. Wasn't it originally 4,000? Did they say they will end it sooner? Not that I'm complaining. The max cap is still 4k but there are thoughts that 3k may be the optimal number but there is no fixed goal afaik.
