I bought 2 of those 2400w servers PSU's too Citronick. I like them, my only critique is sometimes they put out a very high pitched whistle.

I am in contact with their engineer and he said the Delta last forever only downside is that its meant for Data Centre use and its super loud due to the fan system. Its not meant for home use..... however, there are quiet as a mouse if load is less than 50%

40 mm fans are always going to be high RPM (and make a high-pitched noise) if they flow enough to cool a big PS like this Delta.

Delta makes good gear in general - this PS is made by the same company that makes Delta fans, and a few other items.

I am also 'assuming' for all these new asic miners of the 10g to 15g to 30g flavors WILL make a patch
to the firmware to do not just x11 as they do now but also x13 and x15. (Its what I'd do) Smiley

If they don't have the HARDWARE support for the extra algos in X15, a "patch to the firmware" isn't going to happen.
I strongly suspect, given how long the Baikal has been pushing it's support for the extra algos and NO word from anyone else about it, that nobody else has bothered.

[New Wallet version 1.2.9]

burstcoin-1.2.9

Crashes with no error message when the "experimental" GPU accel option is enabled, after about 30 seconds of "hang".

Doesn't matter what "manual" settings I use, or if I use the "auto" option.

The alleged Pinidea DRX 1150 seems to be a scam, as it's not listed on the actual Pinidea site AND the graphics are a direct ripoff of the Antminer L3.

I seriously doubt that ANY X11 ASIC-based miner uses a FPGA as part of the actual mining part, the efficiencies are WAY too high

Using a FPGA to verify the basic design of a circuit before you commit to making an ASIC version is common, but it doesn't make the resulting ASIC chip a FPGA.

Oh, and for reference, FPGA stands for "Field Reprogrammable Gate Array" - it's basically an IC that's designed so you can route the inputs and the outputs of the various gates on it in different ways to implement different complex circuits.

Hmm, seems they changed the package when they moved from the old 150 to the cube 300 - probably why they changed the part number.
Neither of those part numbers are standard FPGA numbers though.

The D3s just went back on sale and sold out within an hour... I know Bitmain generally sells out quickly, but this has gotta be record, no?

They don't seem to be sold out, more that their website seems to be broken at the moment - or they're ALMOST ready with the new batch but haven't actually gotten all the "back end" updated for it yet.

Might i recommend restarting your browser. Bitmain recently updated their site, u may get a 503 error unless you restart your browser.

They did sell a batch last night, Sept18-25 batch. Can't know how many they sold, but it sold out in an hour.

Wasn't a browser issue - was that they had sold out but their website hadn't been updated to reflect it yet.
They stated in an email response to me that they had sold out in "30 minutes".

I DO believe that is a record for them - but I have to wonder how big the batch was, or if possibly some "whale" miner/farm bought a large piece of the batch in one big transaction.

2827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 26, 2017, 09:32:52 AM

WTT is a token provided by Giga-Watt.  You have to buy their tokens to host there (1 token per watt of power for the miner).  You are essentially funding the build out of their facility...not exactly appealing.  However, token holders get to mine at their facility for 2.8 cents kW/h, which is much better than what I get (25-31 cents per kW/h).

It's also very close to what they actually pay for electric in Douglas County, based on the last time I looked at the "industrial" scale high-end published rate for Douglas PUD (technically they'll be on a "negotiated rate" as they're bigger than 5MW, but the negotiated rates usually have large up-front infrastructure build out charges and otherwise are pretty much the same as the high end standard rate).

You're not going to find a better power rate in the US, though you can get close if you live in the "3 counties" area here even at smaller scale.

Keep in mind that "TDP" expressed as a percentage is MEANINGLESS if the poster doesn't include the card model, as TDP varies from one card to the next.

Do you guys think there could be something in future like Genecoin? for computing genome sequencing? That would be quite revolutionary. But genomic data is private

 which answered your question.

D3 new batch live for Sale for September delivery.  Wink

They sold out in minutes. WOW

Either one or more BIG farms scooped up a bunch, or the batch was small.

They stated "sold out in 30 minutes" in an email reply to me.
2831  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: For guys switching to commercial 220v in the USA on: July 26, 2017, 09:16:42 AM
Running a power supply on 220 instead of 110 has ZERO effect on the output circuitry.
It DOES save a tiny amount of power - commonly 1-2% - due to reduced I2R losses in the input circuitry.

And yet they are still profitable. Best run for miner hw i have seen.

You DO know that the KnC Titan miners have been out of production for a few years and KnC itself imploded right?

I can say the same thing about my Innosilicon A2 miners, and have the added upside that they didn't have severe issues with "mining cores dying" like the Titan did, nor worries about overstressed OUT OF SPEC usage of the power connectors that sometimes led to major failures and rare fires....

Titans DID a offer a little better efficiency - WHEN they worked.

2835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What happen to mining profitability? on: July 25, 2017, 09:34:40 PM

i think not only about difficult, but also about the value, that was dumped on all altcoin, because of bitcoin chain split or hard fork, diff is indeed higher, because now even kids and their mother are mining, but the investors dumped a lot of money to take profit

The drop in profitability over the last month or so on almost all altcoins has been a LOT more about the rise in difficulty, though the drop in price has also had a noticeable negative effect.
Litecoin is the main exception, as it's price in $ terms has been pretty close to constant within a 10-15% range during that timeframe - so the profitability drop THERE has been all about the additional batches of L3+ and A4 miners getting added to the network hashrate.

2836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: July 25, 2017, 09:31:12 PM

I read somewhere that Apple Inc. has selected DGB for their coin.....

 Probability zero.

If Apple were to have an "AppleCoin", they would start up their own - they've ALWAYS been about trying to maximise control on their products.

Apple's main "thing" from the beginning, and still today... has always been hardware... not software.

MacOS is the ONLY thing about the Mac that is still Apple specific - been that way for ballpark a decade now.

They STARTED OUT as primarily a hardware company, but they've not BEEN that way for quite a while now to some degree.

They've ALWAYS been about "control" on their products though - even the Apple II insisted on using it's own bus instead of the widely-used S100 bus that PREdated the existance of the Apple I (much less the II).

They seem to be pointing at the "turbo mode" 38 GH/S as justification for the $10k pricing - though their specs make the A5 very little more efficient than the D3 at that point.

I hope everyone who considers the A5 at 38 ghs overclock mode understands overclocking the A5 is listed as reason to void warranty ! s process.

They specify "excessive overclocking in an overheating environment" - using the miner AT THEIR SPECIFIED 38 GH/s is NOT a warranty violation if you keep it cool enough.

It's arguable if running it in the 38 Gh/s mode AT ALL can be a warranty violation, given that it is a FACTORY SPECIFIED mode.

This is not to say doing so is a good idea - it's probably more profitable if you have cheap electric, but the additional heat WILL reduce the lifetime of the miner - and 14/16nm node chips don't seem to be as "robust" about handling heat to date vs 28nm.

2839  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty contest rollover prize 2ltc 1 compac usb stick. Picks are now closed! on: July 25, 2017, 08:43:25 AM
S7 (and S5/SP20) units aren't much of the total network hashrate any more, they were STILL profitable even during the "close to $2000" dip.
The price doesn't matter during the intervals when there are no miners to buy.

2840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why? ASIC made in China ONLY? on: July 25, 2017, 08:39:04 AM
There's plenty of engineering shops over there capable of doing the chip design, and at a cut rate, AND as a contract gig.  Also most of the chip foundries are in that part of the world these days.

Stateside and in Europe where most of the other major tech infrastructure is (foundries and the engineers to make them) the systems are locked into industry/company demand.  Intel/AMD/Nvidia/Motorola/Etc... have large engineering teams capable of designing them but they're too busy making the general use devices those companies are in the business of then producing at THEIR foundries.

So basically China and eastern Asia are the only areas in the world with an existing knowledge base and the capacity to produce the chips.

Then you can add on the fact they're lower cost to produce there, AND that a large segment of the mining community is IN China you have a pretty clear picture.  The nation's low cost of electricity only adds to the incentive to develop and deploy them.

AMD and IBM no longer have their own founderies - they shed them as a "cost saving measure" some years back, forming GlobalFoundries in the process.
Nvidia has never had their own foundry - they do seem to have some long-term contract with TSMC and recently started using Samsung for their 1050 and 1050ti cards.
I'm not sure if Motorola ever had a foundry - if they did, it was a LONG time ago and long since split off or sold off.

Some or all of the major MEMORY makers have their own foundries though, Micron (and Samsung of course) come immediately to mind, and I'm pretty sure Hynix as well.

China cost of electric - varies. There are some parts where big hydro projects went in that have huge oversupplies and VERY cheap power, there are other parts that don't have a good power grid at all and the cost is a lot higher.
They seem to be working on getting more industry developed in the cheap power areas, and at least somewhat on power transmission, but they're quite a bit behind the US in HV transmission line construction experience (we've been doing that for fairly close to a CENTURY now, in part due to the Hoover and Grand Coulee dams both of which don't happen to be close to ANY major cities).
