I don't like the punishment or fine give  to them. It is not going to be in anyway effective. Their punishment could have been rehabilitation and community service.

I don't like the aspect of option of meagre fine aspunishment either. That is exactly my challenge on this crime that I can't get my head over with. Some punitive measures are just as good as not pronounced because they don't in any way measure with offenses. I have some issues with some legal system because I think a punishment is suppose to wade people off a certain crime, what is pecuniary fine of 150,000 (about $210) as option against a jail term of 7 years or a crime of squandering $8,000 do to prevent future perjurers in gambling crimes.

Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment and what did they do? Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment

The mother and the son after gambling away 5.6 million naira, that is about $8,000. When the reality dawned on them, they gave false information in petition, accusing someone of fraudulently transferring the fund from their Opay account to the sport betting account without their authorization.

Could this be a case of making someone pay for what they didn't eat or a case of double standard.

Bet as you can sustain and not allow your emotions have a better part of you.

2824  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Central African Republic drops Bitcoin as Legal Tender on: April 27, 2023, 04:04:40 PM
Hello guys I wrote this article. Read it here for better formatting:
https://www.jbgsmining.com/en/post/central-african-republic-drops-bitcoin-as-legal-tender

I think this is a blog post. I have tried to search for other richer sources to confirm but not seen fresh update on that repeal of first law on adopting bitcoin as legal tender.

That said, Mexico is making a move towards accepting bitcoin as we speak and this isn't the richest, nor the safest country, so it can be done and it's going to be done more often in future.
IMO a great first step is not to make it hard for those who want to accept bitcoin, give people some freedom and it will grow in its own pace.

Ethiopia is also making the move to go in with bitcoin but the unfortunate thing is countries that are not yet prepared are those initiating such move. Like the case of CAR with less than 10% of her population having access to internet facility was a project waiting to crash.

Thinking deeply, I think there are few reasons for the rush to throw in all in the bid to make bitcoin a legal tender and that is countries trying to think bitcoin will improve their sorry economic status and overnight land them into economic riches whilst they are still deep in corruption. CAR is one of the poorest countries in Africa with illiteracy rate and no prior inclination towards bitcoin by its youths and citizens.

Another reason for the rush for making bitcoin a legal tender is to have an financial escape route like we have seen in some was zone countries who are trying to escape some financial sanctions like Russia.
2825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why gambling and mixing called bad actors in bitcoin on: April 27, 2023, 12:08:16 PM
I noticed both Bitcoin mixing and online gambling using Bitcoin are mostly regarded as bad actors

This is simply a question of morality and not legality. For gambling yes in the distant past it was perceived by different jurisdiction to be an activity for people who are not able to find jobs to engage themselves, feed their families. It was peculiar classification of unemployed people, better definition for laziness and those looking for easy virtue. Back then the above description is the way African society see gambling and gamblers, a terrain for unsuccessful people, drunks and unuseful hands.

Also, you already understand what bitcoin mixer is. When a mixer company receive bitcoin from different people and utters or mixes them so that the original traceable identity will be lost and you can't trace the wallet where it was sent out from or whatever quantity sent or to be delivered afterwards. You see by simple understanding, it appears as if it is an illicit act but the debate about mixers is on the intent but not really on the process, the intent of which is to maintain the decentralized operations of bitcoin. So you now see different understanding and government alleging money laundering, drug paddling and other nefarious activities against bitcoin mixing. This is the background understanding of the reason associated with gambling and bitcoin mixing as bad actors but IMO, it all depends on the intent for mixing which I believe is for freedom exclusion of third party and the reason for gambling rate apart from fun is decrease in access to job.

So if you agree with this mundane analysis, you would understand why they are being associated as bad actors because if you look through the mirror of morality then you could see those vices.

Secondly, if Gambling and Bitcoin mixing services are called bad actors, what about centralized exchanges are they also perceived as bad actors in Bitcoin?

Exchanges scamming investors who innocently hodl coins with them should be considered as such. They are bad actors because they discourage people from investing and growing bitcoin. The law should be implemented against them however, it is better to invest wisely, not your key not your coins.
2826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: April 26, 2023, 11:31:29 AM
Interest is what will put you through. Whatever we want to achieve, we must have interest to pursue it and it is the passion we have that will help us to sustain it when it becomes difficult for us to achieve that dream we evisage. Gambling is not easy to win in it. Therefore you need interest and passion first.

my best advise is that you should get DStv dish installed and subscribe to those channels

Not really. Most gamblers in football and boxing don't own DStv or satellite dish to play. It is interest that drives one to game houses to pay a token and watch some games.

At this point what do I do, I went out go get a DStv dish and installed presently now I watches most of the live matches and I understand more better than the way it was. I can bet and place my favorite team to win or not.

The buttom line is interest and passion like I have said earlier. In your case if you had not developed interest you wouldn't have moved out to better your viewing experience and knowledge on the games to better your gambling. Most gamblers I know don't have any of the luxury of staying at home to watch and bet whether soccer or boxing matches, they go out to gambling houses, hangout at bars or drinking places and visit sites to get a better analysis from even other people, I'm talking about real and chronic gamblers and not spontaneous gambling.

So interest is important because it is what sustains a gambler to continue after losing and of course the reason a gambler continues to play apart from chasing his losses is interest.

what information can you give someone like me?

These days anything you want is found on the internet, build the interest of reading and searching online about whatever game you want and boxing are provided for you with pictures which makes the story easily assimilated. So with interest, little information from different research source on the internet you can ask your relatives and friends on more knowledge. You also have to visit game houses, keep friends with gamblers. They say " birds of a feather flock together"

2829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About football betting on: April 21, 2023, 09:11:42 PM

This makes it more cleaner to me, there will be no tampering of the system or fine tunning their games to make gamblers loses more than they win.

Can anyone confirm if this is right? Or wrong.

You could be right except where some fans of football team or bettors complain of match fixing but on a larger scale, it is more possible that manipulation is reduced. The most part of your post is on comparison of soccer or football betting and casino games. Of course their modus are different, you are playing against the owner of a casino while in football you betting based on the general performance of the team and their place in the league table. Apart from visual soccer that is programmed, football is real and realistic, it can be considered as a provably fair game because its activities is open to the public with video assistant referees (VAR) giving more credence to its fair nature.
2830  Economy / Gambling / Re: A reminder for gamblers to avoid FortuneJack (ongoing lawsuit, 120k usd stolen) on: April 21, 2023, 03:38:54 PM

But then, it's also very possible to have a lawsuit ongoing without anybody knowing, most especially when the organization involved knows they that publicly announcing such could harm their reputation or probably cause their customers to start panicking which could in turn affect the organization's business negatively.

I don't think such news or story of lawsuit to such amount can be swept under the carpet. The press can not be gaged on that because it is a sellable news. Op can provide the lawsuit link if that is real but FortuneJack should make clearification to the scam accusation against them to build back the confidence of their customer.
2831  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: April 21, 2023, 01:43:29 PM
My question is can it still be called gambling if it is not played with money?
I'm sure every user here has a different opinion on your question.
If in my opinion even though you make and give predictions to win prizes without the money you give to bet or you can call it free then it is still included in the scope of gambling.
You yourself make predictions and risk them in a free betting contest with the expectation of winning when the predictions you make are correct, whereas gambling is an activity that risks something for the purpose of getting some profit.
So in conclusion, even though the predictions that you give without spending a penny, because there are prizes that can be obtained, it is a gambling bet.

This view is quite analytical and I think what op has asked is part of gambling even though the site is to lure more people who don't want to directly bet with money or something of value in betting. When you visit the site and make such prediction that requires accuracy of 6 games you are invariably expecting a reward for such emotional exercise, that to me makes it gambling. Take for instance in more critical analysis, you go to work for your employer and at the month end or weekend you expect to be paid for your labour, such expectation comes because you have worked for it. So in the case of the op discussion, when you make prediction then you are gambling the outcome of something that you are not sure of unlike when you have laboured for your employer and sure to receive salary or wages at the end.

I checked what is gambling

I found out that the focus is the end result which is the reward. When you have invested your time and emotion in expectation of a reward IMO it can be regarded as gambling. Moreover, non gamblers won't visit such site as they will also see it as gambling
2832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live casino over provably fair games. on: April 20, 2023, 07:22:02 PM
I think you are trying to compare Live casino over provably fair games as against your winning and losing experience and based on your post, it appears as if you are also part of your challenge likewise most gamblers experience. So while gambling in whatever form, you have to understand that you are up against your luck and emotions. By the way gambling is meant to be for fun  Grin don't put all your financial hope on it. From your experience on your post, you are not forced to click on your mouse to play again and again on the provably fair but you wanted to chase your loses and that has been the debacle of gamblers. So learn to walk away sometimes whether you are winning or not, that will give you sometime to think whether playing in roulette, it is same thing. Some days are lucky days while somedays turn out to be very bad days.
2833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you favor betting on spesific sport? on: April 20, 2023, 03:47:05 PM

I know most people will favor certain Sport, because they know more about the players or the teams and information is power, when it comes to betting... but some Sport are 50/50 when it comes to the outcome of the match. (One lucky punch or kick can make a underdog a champion)

Please share your thoughts...  Tongue

The points you mentioned here are part of the reasons that majority of bettors may favour sports especially soccer. To add to that, bettors know the capacity of many football players, the coaches, opponent etc including playing in home soil, all are included in consideration to stake a soccer bet.

And personally, I believe if you are to compare soccer with casino betting, you can say soccer betting is easier to win because of a singular factor which is house edge that is absent in soccer. Casinos are usually designed where it is left to your luck to win against the house but if you do a proper grand research and analysis, you can have a higher chance of winning in soccer bets than casino bets.
2834  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔴 SPORTSBETTING CORNER 🔴 on: April 20, 2023, 11:34:10 AM

For example I want to play and give tips about a double with one game from La Liga and one from Premier League.. many people will miss it out if i post in a specific league.

I understand your point, I guess you want a bettor to be able to see all the predictions you have at once in a thread irrespective of the league and not to start visiting different threads to check them out. I think that is reasonable from your explanation. If you can monitor, follow up and give like above average predictions for your bets, you will have more bettors checking you out but if you are below expectation then you will be sure to go off very fast because every bettor have different prediction sites that they visit.

Regarding the discussion of where this thread belongs, I think the mod will eventually take a decision to that

I think it’s not a good idea. The reason for which I am saying this is that because, if by chance someone looses a big amount of money due to the tips, then for the rest of the life he/she gonna blame you and for your tips. He/she won’t accept the fact that he is the one who is responsible for all this, and will keep on fighting like this.

Op is not the first that will suggest or provide predictions for bettors. There are many of such online and bettors have been losing and winning, they can only choose to stay with one prediction site or the other based on their experience.
2835  Economy / Gambling / Re: How does AI gambling sound? on: April 19, 2023, 03:24:41 PM
Can you make bets on horses that are AI vs making bets on real horses? I see a new gambling project that focuses on horse racing only and I am surprised that those horses are not real live horses, I went deep doing research and it kinda looks like players will be the ones fine-tuning their horses 🐎 for better performance and go ahead to head with other players.

This doesn't sound surprising to me. AI horse rising is like dog race that has been existing . But to make bets on real horses can be virtualized in metaverse where two or more people can bet on that. This reminds me of traditional polo games, a field sport that involves horses played with wooden mallet striking on a hard ball to score the opponent. I won't be surprised if this is existing likewise.
2836  Economy / Economics / Re: Bans on crypto now looks like a joke on: April 19, 2023, 02:21:14 PM
I don't think that crypto ban in china is looking like a joke because it is total in all activities that has any connection with cryptocurrency and if caught is a penalty of a jail time. I remember China had a strict law against cryptocurrency in 2017 including mining and in 2021 it further made a harsh regulation against it. However, citizens are hopeful to see a policy shift from banning crypto trading. Talking about USA, the country has been a libra one. They are trying to shift from ban to more proactive modern technology and ways of handling creation of blockchain technology. Therefore, tightening of the crypto exchanges is more of a priority and that is one reason they have a binance as binance.us. More call for tightening of crypto exchange regulation after the ftx scam.
2837  Economy / Gambling / Re: Limited in every bookmaker on: April 19, 2023, 11:44:08 AM
Maybe he will offer something that is very profitable but the risk to his gambling account is also high when one day it can be banned by any Sportbook.
I'm not really sure if Op really does bad things on every bet in the Sportbook but for sure this is definitely something suspicious ...

What op offers should not be important but to know why his accounts are being limited in casinos because if he has access to another account, same limitation will happen after awhile. I think there are two possible reasons that casinos do limit player's account and that is if you are lucky to keep winning over them (but they don't openly admit to this). Another reason is when the account is flagged for suspicious activities and bypassing the rule in ToS.

I will quote your message to make anyone can see it.

His message doesn't really represent anything. He only sent a link that is an end to itself and doesn't lead anywhere only the front or cover photo. I think he could make a write up for users to know what this is all about or what he wants. He is rather in a haste if they have not finished the work of which he is posting the cover page. Moreover, he should understand having a newbie account under a casino is not always sellable on the platform because of trust, except he is affiliated with reputable casino or can prove the trust. It is not always proper for a user to do a preliminary search on what a promoter wants. I see this is about igaming platform but you need to do a good PR .
