Uquid is launching an ICO. As far as I know, they're the only company with previous experience on bitcoin debit cards to launch an ICO. More here:

As I know cryptopay is running ICO at current time https://ico.cryptopay.me/#about
Interesting, I didn't know that.

I'd also want to clarify that I can't personally advise anyone to invest into any ICO.
2842  Economy / Economics / Re: China Will Kill Bitcoin: A Conspiracy Theory on: September 09, 2017, 05:23:46 PM
I don't see the chinese government attempting to kill bitcoin, they probably already know that it's made especially so governments can't kill it. However, they could severely limit its lawful applications and such an action would seriously implicate all investments and the entire economy. The Chinese government surely has a way to harm bitcoin's value if they want to, the fact that so much of bitcoin's transactions happen in China just leaves the rest of the world prone to a collapse of the bitcoin economy there.

Bitcoin is not something that can be killed by one country or authority. If it was that weak, this economic system for bitcoin would never grow like this.

Despite everything, bitcoin will survive.
I'm not implying that bitcoin could be killed by any government. But we'll have to admit that Government interference from a country where a big portion of activity for bitcoin's economy stems from could affect the economy.

Is this a classic BTC or BCH currency?  Huh
Neither of the afformentioned, seems more like a joke with a premine so large as the one mentioned by OP. I don't think that his could be getting anywhere.

2845  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HOW YOBIT SCAMMED ME on: September 09, 2017, 02:16:43 PM
Does Yobit have a policy saying that addresses can't be reused? That sounds weird but if the address is theirs it's only them that can help you recover funds. Hopefully, and if your claims are true, they deliver and assist you.
2846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Albanian Central Bank Issues Bitcoin Warning, Appeals To Public to Be Mature on: September 09, 2017, 02:09:09 PM
Albania went trhough a financial collapse due to pyramic schemes after communism. The public isn't quite educated on finance and it's only the recent generations that are getting access to information. Hopefully the central bank's announcement there won't turn people against bitcoin.
2847  Economy / Economics / Re: Mental barrier stops from buying BTC on: September 09, 2017, 02:07:18 PM
I think that people don't quite have the ability to familiarize themselves with the idea of holding such amounts directly into a wallet without any further institutional insurance. But aside of that, many web-shops are accepting bitcoin every day. I went to buy some shoes the other day online and to my surprise the store was accepting BTC. It's very low cost and also low risk to accept it online.

Interesting ICO. Uquid came to be one of the trusted bitcoin debit card services so they already have experience with developing a product in their space. Hopefully their ICO will allow for more innovation.

I can't believe this saga is still ongoing!

The reason why you dont yet have your bitcoin from gox is peter venesses:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKvkV-m6RrI

He is holding up the 200,000 bitcoin payouts with some business claim, the kraken CEO says everything would have been paid out by now if it wasn't for him.  Try to put pressure on him or anyone you know working with him.  Its crazy some kind of agreement cant be made here.
Wow. If true, it's astounding how a single person can put such lengthy and tedious legal procedures on hold. He truly has no merit if the accusations is true to any extent, causing a hold on the funds of so many people is really selfish. Jokes on him though, bitcoin gained so much time in the meantime. Hopefully prices won't fall too much again.
2851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are people acting as if China couldn't cause a market wide collapse? on: September 04, 2017, 10:47:06 PM
The only upside I can see is that maybe if there are no native Chinese ICOs, Chinese investors interested in crypto have no alternative than to put their capital in international projects (assuming they don't shut down the Chinese exchanges as well as local ICOs). Overall though there's no way to spin this as anything other than a huge blow to the industry.
I don't see it as that. China has banned ICOs from being created but nowhere do i see China banning investors from investing in other ICOs. This seems like good news to me. Anything I'm missing?
The government there really does have power over the market sentiment. It's not clear yet if Chinese investors are outright baned from putting money on ICOs but the recent ban surely drives big money out of the economy and reduces interest.
2852  Economy / Speculation / Why are people acting as if China couldn't cause a market wide collapse? on: September 04, 2017, 01:05:33 PM
Cryptocurrency markets are fully in red. Nothing escapes. Bitcoin is down. Alts are down. Smart contract platforms are down. Every single ICO token is down.

Only bitcoin can survive this, but it'll keep taking everything down with it for as long as it falls. Those pretending that ICOs can recover from this dip without Chinese capital know no better.

Your page says there were

42,186 ETH of 40,000 ETH Contributed
but I don't see a public contract address with ETH in it...
2854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: A bad day !!! on: September 03, 2017, 03:33:51 PM
Markets are bearish after bitcoin. Only very few exceptions but those are more than likely also pumps and dumps. Overall, there's huge correlation with bitcoin and there has always been. If you still believe in the market's potential then buy the dip. Grin
2855  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which strategy is the safest investment? lending or holding btc. on: September 03, 2017, 03:14:15 PM
If you trust leaving your BTC on exchanges you could try margin lending on one but sure enough that's still very much based on trust. If you want to utilize the trustlesness of BTC just store it in a wallet where you control the private key and just hold them. Holding is certainly more secure than lending in any way.
2856  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you use a Bitcoin debit card? on: September 03, 2017, 02:37:55 PM
As a matter of fact, I use several. My country's government (Greece) imposed big restrictions on outgoing bank transfers and withdrawals as measures against a bank run so getting one was a must. I have also created a thread related to bitcoin debit cards.

Check it out:

2857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU mining 2017? on: September 03, 2017, 02:34:26 PM
With a laptop it's not worth mining, and probably never was either. The heat is just too much for a laptop to handle and the punishment the battery could take does more damage that you'd ever make. PC CPUs can earn you some pennies though. My FX-8350 can mine around 0.6$ worth of CryptoNight coins a day with Nicehash's miner.
2858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2017 = the season of ICO's . Good or Bad for Cryptocurrency Ecosytem? on: September 03, 2017, 02:01:25 PM
Ethereum set on a vision of autonomous organizations and immutable contracts running on the blockchain, but the recent trend of trying to monetize everything will not get far in my opinion. I don't think that there's going to be a great success rate among all the projects launched. Many are doomed to fail with only a few surviving.
2859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is my Etherwallet not safe? on: September 03, 2017, 01:58:20 PM
The original is considered safe and trusted by many ethereum users but it's also easy to clone from malicious parties. Be sure that you're always on the original website if you'd like to use the services.
2860  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e, potential ID theft opperations after shut down on: September 03, 2017, 07:19:34 AM
I've seen many questionable websites popping up, some of which are asking for ID documents claiming that recovery of BTC-e funds will be possible... So far I think that the only official source of information would be is their twitter account: https://twitter.com/btcecom

Throughts?

Mind listing some of these questionable websites?

Should be obvious that you should be only trusted their official twitter handle, and all others would be impersonators trying to scam your coins. The only legit site should be btc-e.nz, and all other domains are also scammers.

If you enter any personal details into those sites, prepare for your identity to be stolen.

Interestingly, the refund page for btc-e doesn't seem to work right now. Anyone know what's happening with this?
I don't think that it's worth sharing any of the potential scam websites. Good to raise awareness by pointing out the few official channels of communication but other than that linking to unofficial sources might even help them.
