2842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to mine Secondscoin [SEC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 22, 2013, 05:27:57 PM
New coin! http://www.secondscoin.org/ cpu based!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=381587.0

Here is a short tutorial to get you started with minimum investment and zero electricity costs.

I've tested the tutorial myself...currently mining with 94 khash/s on the smallest plan.

sign up for a digitalocean account here: https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=261c189a4aeb

Deposit at least 5 (better $10) and add coupon LINUX13 or GIT10 to get $10 extra bonus

create droplet - choose Ubuntu 13.04 x64 - it is better recommended to create one with 4 or 8 cpus at least

login via ssh (use putty) with your vps login details

execute the following commands:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev

wget http://stonefoz.myfastmail.com/cpuminer-quark.zip

unzip cpuminer-quark.zip

cd cpuminer-quark

CFLAGS="-O3 -msse2" ./configure

make

apt-get install screen

screen

./minerd -a quark -t 8 -o http://sec.mine-pool.net:9372 -u <YourSECAddress> -p xxx

(where -t 4 means 4 cpus for example, choose -t 8 for 8 cpus and so on)

That's all!

when logging back again use "screen -r" to restore session

If you like the tutorial please send me some SEC ===>  BCDvcMBpyaD59K6UBfoHuRZ9oDJiPZGnGm    ===> thanks!

just make sure it's not premined
2846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / When will the next real coin be launched? on: December 22, 2013, 10:11:59 AM
When I say real I mean no premining and a client that works!

start creating coins which aren't premined people...

2849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 07:47:18 PM
I would be interested in doing this just to get a wallet because as a Mac user there is no other way I can see to be able to get an EAC address.  Problem is I am clueless at how to execute terminal commands and am not capable of following these instructions.

you won't get an address using this guide, this is just for mining. to get an address you must compile the wallet code on your server.
2850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 07:40:26 PM
This is absolutely not profitable, not at 6kh/s.

6kh/s x 5 droplet = average above 30 khs

i've posted a disclaimer on my first post so there are no more problems. thank you all.
2851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 07:25:50 PM
gpu is better than cpu for mining, i agree 100%, especially for this kind of coin. but not everyone has gpu.

as for the referral link, yes, it's obvious i gain from it, but i'm not forcing anyone to sign!
2852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 07:10:23 PM
^wrong, it's not called a loss, i've only consumed $3 credit to mine the 10,000 Dogecoins... still have $12 credit left! (and i've paid $5)

not everyone owns a gpu for mining.... why is it so hard to understand? i don't own one... and so are many others.

this is an option, don't choose it if you don't like it.

i will stop here, feel free to post what you want, thanks for bringing the thread in attention after all.
2853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 07:04:28 PM
i'm not trying to convince anyone. i'm showing an option.

a gpu is an investment. not everyone owns it. i wouldn't pay hundred dollars for it to be honest. too risky for me.

some people own laptops and have no gpus. mining on a laptop means killing it.

it worked for me so far. feel free to mine how you like... nobody forces anyone here.
2854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 06:57:50 PM
^

1. i'm mining there myself; made 10,000 Dogecoins paying $5 that's called profit i guess even if small
2. chosing droplets with more cpus and creating more instances increases hashrate
3. i'm not forcing anyone, i'm showing an option. you're free to choose what it's best for you.

just because a coin values a little now it doesn't mean that will value a little forever, profit and mine it.
yes, there is a risk in everything. no risk, no gain.
2855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Earthcoin [EAC] using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: December 21, 2013, 06:52:35 PM
Digital Ocean is useless to mine scrypt-based coins.

this is the 2nd time this guy makes comments to hijack my threads. i think this says it all.

not everyone has computers suitable for mining, it's your problem if you don't want to mine, let the ones who want do it

my reasons to mine scrypts on digitalocean

1. cheap
2. zero electricity
3. no gpu/system failure risks
4. high return rate if value of the coin willl increase in time
5. low risks

2859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sausages on: December 21, 2013, 02:01:09 PM
the title of this thread is http://doge.cryptohash.it/ not sausages

but the pool owner is not answering people's issues

i recommend you stop hashing at this pool immediately or you will just make this guy rich
2860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency - many coin - wow - v1.2 Released on: December 21, 2013, 01:56:28 PM
is there anyone still mining on http://doge.cryptohash.it/ ?

i have 3 payments they still need to send...moved out from there.

the owner renamed his original thread to sausages to get away
