2841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 20, 2022, 08:43:34 PM
Barcelona are performing really decently right now and maybe they can find the first goal in the game. My biggest hope is to see a goal as early as possible to fire up the competition more in the game.
And they did just that, they did not just get one, but two goals, Aubameyang and Araujo have given Barcelona a two goal lead as they are now in the dying stages of the first half, a very excellent display from Barcelona in this first half, they have clearly been the better team and they deserve to go into the break with this lead. Like i said before today, this is Barcelona's first real test after their resurgence, and they are absolutely bossing it, an awful amount of credit must go the way of Xavi and his boys for not giving up on this season, i hope they see this one through in the second half and take home all three points.
2842  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 20, 2022, 08:07:56 PM
I don't see Manchester United making top 4 at the end of the season ahead of these consistent Arsenal side. Although, Arsenal haven't beat any of the top 6 side but it doesn't matter thus far. Arteta have been able to help them navigate their season to the right course and to be fair, Manchester united don't deserve been in the top 4. Manchester United inconsistency is too loud for a team that should be in European competition.
I second all of that, i mean Arsenal deserve that fourth position for how they have played this season, they started the season slow, but once they picked up form, there was no looking back from them and that is why they are where they are at the moment. Manchester United have had an 'up and down' season, they are very erratic, and they stand no chance to finish fourth this season, and when that happens it will sum up the sort of bad season they had, with no CL football for them next season, they could prolly lose one or two quality players and will struggle to allure quality players to their team in the next transfer window.
2843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 20, 2022, 07:11:28 PM
The victory today was needed. The 4th place in the league is the minimum goal that must be achieved. This will put them back in the Champions League next season. As of now they are 8 points ahead of 5th place and there are still 8 match days to go. So it's okay, they can do it.
It was very well needed, many weeks ago i actually thought Juventus would not be able to qualify for the CL next season, but they have fought well and are now in a position that will take them to the CL next season, they just have to maintain it, i know they would love to be 1st position but the seria A is not like it used to be some seasons ago when Juve just runs away with the title, last season Inter did the magic, and this season is even more competitive with Ac Milan, Napoli, Inter and even Juve all seemingly gunning for the title, this is actually what we want to see every season, except you're prolly a Juve fan.

Exactly, majority make use of centralized exchanges. But few bitcoin users are afraid of data leak as well, such people at times can still make use of centralized no-kyc exchanges. Some bitcoin users are afraid of both data leak and not having full control, such people stick to full decentralized means.
Yes, though i am not so sure, but i think the number of people who use completely/solely decentralized means are in the minority, i know everyone tends to go for that which suits them and is more convenient, but from my years in the network i think people need to sacrifice convenience for safety, security, anonymity and privacy, if it will take you some stress to protect yourself and your funds, then i think one should do it, the most convenient means most times in this network is usually the least secure; like for example, when people choose to use weak passwords so it be convenient for them to remember, not knowing it is a very wrong/bad thing to do.
2845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not profitable anymore, Altcoins like Avalanche / Algorand etc. are on: March 20, 2022, 06:35:01 PM
Never bet against new tech, bro
And how many of such 'new tech' have we seen in the past, and where did they end up, do you remember when ICO and the rest were just as popular as DeFi and others nowadays, but what happened, we found out quickly that most of all these 'new techs', new projects and all are just being moved by hype, and when the hype slows down, that is more or less the end. When talking about actual utility, you are basically talking Bitcoin, it does not have to be receptive to all of these new stuffs coming into the market, cause it is already useful enough in itself to be used all around the world, most especially as a currency, what i mean is: a payment method.

How many of these new coins you are fascinated about is being used as a currency? Mind you, i am not questioning your love for new projects and their likes, but they are nothing compared to Bitcoin.
2846  Other / Meta / Re: List of Meta suggestions for Bitcointalk Improvement on: March 20, 2022, 05:06:31 PM
Quite a lot of users overlook the search button, if it definitely wasn't useful, then it wouldn't have been there in the first place, if forum users use the search button more frequently, then many threads will not be repeated.

Good topic, but i do not know if it will be useful in the long run when this thread leaves the first 3 or so pages, users would still repeat such threads again, so what is most important is that users should make use of the search button first before starting a thread, only then will they find already existing threads on the topics/suggestion they want to make, and compilations of already existing threads like the OP.
2847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Assumptions of People who don't know about bitcoin... Ki on: March 20, 2022, 04:03:02 PM
I think a lot of such misconceptions and assumptions stems from a lack of proper research, quite a lot of people get their understanding of Bitcoin from the media or from individuals who do not tell them the most important aspects of it, of course we all know the media is famous for highlighting Bitcoin as being negative, and also, more often than not people only tell others about how much they can make from Bitcoin, thus through such means, many individuals get the wrong perception about the network that prolly would not get corrected.

Having said that, for as many people that do their research about Bitcoin, they would want to be 'associated' with this network, if they can at least grasp a thing or two from their research, they will understand its pros and cons and know how well to handle them, and specifically understand that the network is not a get rich quick scheme as quite a lot of people assume it is.
2848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Bitcoin, No fun for you! on: March 20, 2022, 02:01:03 PM
It is no longer news how the numerous sanctions imposed is heavily affecting the Russian economy and its people, there are now quite a lot of difficulties in getting things that were ordinarily easy to get in the past as many establishments have fled the country, i read this article sometime ago, which somewhat depicts what the situation on ground looks like, of course i am not in Russia so i can't attest to its veracity, but still here is the news: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60647543

Having said that, i would not be surprised if prostitutes have changed their mode of payment for the meantime in order to still continue working, earning and retaining the value of what they earn, the government might not worry too much about it, but on the other hand if such people have never used crypto before then they will have some learning to do, which generally isn't bad if they get to learn about the network.
2849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Educate Dentists To follow Crypto payment methods? on: March 20, 2022, 11:42:27 AM
I don't think Bitcoin payments would become a "mandatory" thing. It's an option sure, but businesses that don't really want to implement it can not do it, fiat is still there and would still be used for a long time imo.
Of course, no one is disputing the fact that Fiat is the currency that is mostly used, but gradually we can all see that Bitcoin adoption is growing pretty fast, and many businesses now want to integrate it into their business as a payment method, it is also a legal tender in a few places, it definitely isn't going to be a 'mandatory' payment method, if there is even anything such as that, but the thing is, as time goes on more people will willingly adopt Bitcoin into whatever business or service they are offering, that will be the time of mass adoption, when a great number of people will hold bitcoin and will also want to spend it like an 'everyday currency', thus in order to sufficiently cut across all customers, Bitcoin payment method will be very popular.
2850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 19, 2022, 10:26:04 PM
Manchester City v Athletico Madrid is definitely a game to look forward to, i think this should be the first time this two sides meet, and they both play entirely different brands of football, while City is a side solely concerned with attack and never sitting back, Athletico are the antithesis of Manchester City as they always prefer to sit back, soak up pressure, and try to score a goal or two on the counter. I expect City to dominate this game in terms of ball possession and controlling the game, but we still have to be very weary of Athletico madrid on the break cause they have quality players that can cause a lot of problems, we saw them do it to Liverpool some seasons ago, though i am pretty sure that would not repeat itself in this scenario.
2851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 19, 2022, 08:37:41 PM
Inter's situation is not good, they are losing points and it seems that with each game it becomes clear that they will not be able to be champions
I am not happy with Inter's current situation, i have supported them from the beginning of this season, i have been rooting for them to win their title back to back, but it might not be possible, todays draw with Fiorentina was really a disappointing one and honestly it could prove to be too costly in the end. Having said that, Inter are very well still within touching distance of the league leaders, so nothing is decided just yet, they must stop dropping points though to have a chance of retaining their title and i really hope they do.
2852  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: March 19, 2022, 08:20:46 PM
The reason it is said that people should not use centralized exchanges is because people using it do not have full control over their own crypto assets on the exchanges, it is just as a warning which is true.
Yes, but if we are to be honest, quite a large number of crypto users use centralized exchanges cause of it is somewhat more convenient to use, so i think the best advice to users would be to make sure they do not store consequential/large funds in exchange wallets, after using the exchange for whatever reason it is they should do well to move funds to wallets they own private keys/seed phrase to, cause if it is not your keys, you know it definitely isn't your coins.
2853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not profitable anymore, Altcoins like Avalanche / Algorand etc. are on: March 19, 2022, 08:07:51 PM
Conclusion: new tech (Avalanche, Algorand) is king and will replace old tech (Bitcoin) because better tech always wins.
Do you really believe the above, what is the use case of the coins you mentioned above? And do you honestly believe this new coins have a better network that Bitcoin? Absolutely not. I could understand the point that has to do with get rich quick investors trying their luck with new projects and their pump and dump coins, but Bitcoin has a lot to do with being patient as it is a long term investment, it definitely isn't a pump and dump coin and it has an actual utility that will see it last for as long as possible and continually appreciate in price. As you look for x100 with new projects, do not forget the grave risk involved, many of this projects disappear quite easily; do your research into the Bitcoin network and other networks for proper understanding.
2854  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long ukraine could survive? on: March 19, 2022, 07:04:08 PM
Ukraine country will survive this war soon because they are fully ready to make peace with Russia despite what Russian soldiers has done to their resources.
Peace? Honestly i don't want anything but just peace, so things can go back to normal. But are there actually plans in motion to make peace? I have not seen or heard much about that, from what i can gather, the war is still going on in its full force, to make peace will mean one side will have to surrender, do you think Ukraine are going to do that? I honestly do not know what is going to happen, but i just want a stop to all of this wreckage.
Ukraine president will do everything possible to print more money that will allow the citizens to improve their businesses in the country.
Printing more money eh? Well that could be the only option, but i am pretty sure we all know what the negative effect of that is, as inflation/hyperinflation is being felt almost worldwide right now after there was so much money-printing to fight the covid pandemic. Well Ukraine would not be thinking of that at all right now, they will just want all of this to end, so the rebuilding process can begin, in whichever way possible.

I really appreciate what you are doing to rank up members in this forum. There are many merit source
S here but I only see Ratimov giving merits to push up active members.
That is not true mate, there are a lot of merit sources giving out merits to users on a daily basis and ranking them up, though you prolly might not have noticed it caused they do not have dedicated ranking up threads like this one. Of course Ratimov is doing a fantastic job, and he is definitely amongst the top users in the list of "most generous users giving merits", just like many other merit sources, check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4523027.0
I hope there are Members, Full Members, Hero Members and Legendaries who on their own suppose rank up active members in the forum...
Yes there are, it is constantly happening.
2856  Other / Meta / Re: Why I love Bitcointalk! on: March 19, 2022, 06:14:02 PM
We are never going to completely eradicate spam
Yes, and honestly i doubt any member of our community is hoping for that cause it is somewhat impossible, we could only possibly reduce it to a bare minimum somewhere along the line, i mean, if there is a 'multitude' of good/decent users and a couple of spam users who will prolly get most of their posts reported and maybe deleted every now and then, thus that will be just fine.
Signature campaigns have been around forever, however the quality imposed by the managers (at least the main sections) has become a lot better than it was five years ago.
Honestly signature campaign managers shoulder a lot of responsibility in the forum, some users might not notice it but they do, quite a lot of users are on a signature campaign, and many of these managers make it a criteria for the user to be a decent poster, i am pretty sure this has encouraged a lot of users to work on themselves and bolster their knowledge, so on one hand they get to learn a lot about Bitcoin, post quality stuff and then earn some 'pocket money' via signature campaigns; so campaign managers have a lot to play in the quality of posts on the forum.
2857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I am big fan of SHIBA on: March 19, 2022, 05:34:48 PM
I am a big fan of SHIBA INU. I have kept this coin on hold for a long term investment. I keep an eye on his team and his future plans. And I want to discuss how much it will cost in the future. So give me your opinion.
Well, i am not in any way attempting to discourage you, but personally i would not hold Shina inu for the long term, i am not saying that it is impossible for it to do well in the long period, but honestly the chances do not look high, there is quite a lot of hype surrounding that project at the moment, and i just have that believe that if something kills off that hype, then the project would definitely stumble as well. Having said that, holding it for the short period and taking ROI when you get them is prolly not a bad idea, but then all of this is just my opinion formed from my observation and research, thus the onus still rests on you, if you do all the research you ought to do and you find the coin suitable for a long term investment, then that is fine.
2858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Solana have a future? on: March 18, 2022, 06:21:20 PM
What do you think about this project? Will it have a future? If not, why? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
For a project to actually have a future alot has to do with the developers, so i can't state categorically if this project has a future or not, maybe cause i am not an investor of this project and as such i have done no research whatsoever into their project/team. Having said that, there was actually a time Solana was actually popular amongst investors, but from what i can sense now, that is no longer the case. But like i have said earlier the Solana team have to work really hard to keep their project running and if they are to actually have a future.
2859  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 17, 2022, 09:46:55 PM
I don't see any prospect club for Messi yet because of his wages, maybe Manchester City could have the interest and money but they're seemingly interested in Haaland at moment. Maybe, we may finally get Ronaldo and Messi playing together at PSG if  Ronaldo decides to leave Manchester United. As for Liverpool winning the EPL and UEFA champions league? No chance!
I personally do not think Manchester City would go for Messi this time around, they have attempted to sign him a couple of times in the past already, and they prolly would have loved to get him last season, but he chose PSG, i don't think City would need him anymore, they will be considering age, wages and form, which wouldn't favor them at the moment. Actually there is a huge chance of Messi and Ronaldo both leaving their current clubs, they do not seem so happy to be where they are at the moment, but the thing is, who is going to sign them.
2860  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: March 17, 2022, 09:35:57 PM
Following Barcelona's good performance and dominance in today's game, I think Xavi should earn the respect of the Barca fans. He has improved the quality of the team with a good mentality and strategy to win games.
I absolutely have to agree with you on that, Xavi deserves an awful lot of credit for Barcelona's resurgence of late, if you take a look at the situation and position barca were before signing Xavi, then you will understand just how much credit should go Xavi's way, one thing i like most about what he did is the signings he made, he was able to get the sort of players Barca needs at the moment and right now they are delivering results for the team.

Having said that, i have to say Barcelona are contenders for the Europa league this season, i know it is definitely not the sort of trophy a team of their level would want to win, but with how things have gone for Barcelona in the last one year or so, i think they will take it, and hope to compete for the CL and laliga next season.
