2861  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Scam List on: January 06, 2014, 10:23:34 AM
BFL delivered before.. just late. haha

How they handled refunds was borderline scammy in my opinion. And being 1 year late is not acceptable for any preorder.
2862  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Scam List on: January 06, 2014, 09:13:00 AM
Why is BFL not on this list?
2863  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: January 06, 2014, 08:39:57 AM
Just a reminder, there is an ASICMINER speculation thread specifically for all the share price chat stuff .....

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235763.0

Then we don't have to listen here to people bickering about whether shares are over-valued Smiley
Speculation is about the price of the stock, and we are talking about the value of this stock. That's completely different.

For example, by speculation, now may be a good chance to buy AM shares cause someone may keep pumping the price until the tape-out result is out and you could earn considerable BTC by join the pump and dump. When we consider the value of the AM share, however, the current price is already above its value in my opinion and we should not consider it a good investment any more.
Thanks for your opinion.

I find it easy to believe am will be able to pump out another 0.6 or more in dividends in the future.
2864  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Invest With Caution: CoinMart.co on: January 06, 2014, 03:55:41 AM
Honestly who gives a shit if a dev/startup borrows images? I understand that legally any company wishing to profit must use only content it created or has permission to use. This site as of now is not making a profit just showing an early unfinished design. I an sure when they are making any substantial profit they will pay an artist to whip up some fresh designs.

Besides who posts images/artwork online without watermarks expecting nobody to use it?

Seriously a huge overreaction in this thread...

The thing you're missing at is the fact that this guy "duff man" claims to be a designer himself, why would he poorly rip off content or need to save for those designs when he can whip them up himself. When you are investing you are paying for his design expertise since there is no proof that any code has been done other than the "75% of the code for the site has been completed" notice in his advertisement.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if that site design he put up is completely stolen as well. I've sent him a PM to gather more details proving the design is his work and am yet to here back from him.

At the end of the day, should you trust a deceptive new user with $100k+? I don't see how this is an overreaction at all. Behavior like this is almost always linked to scamming or a get rich quick scheme. The reason why I noticed this in the first place and am upset about it is due to the fact that he ripped off work from a good friend of mine. "Invest with caution" is a reasonable warning.

I wouldn't trust him with anything until he proves he can operate his business. From what I understand he designed the website which is perfectly fine.

Not sure why a website like this would need $100k in investments though..

The graphic card manufacturers must love crypto Smiley wonder how much sales have increased because of mining?

Must be a lot if the price is $100 more than 1 year ago..

I think it has something to do with the fact that this is the first time in history where it is acceptable for someone to have 200 gpus running in their garage.

2868  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Historical analysis proposal: Mining vs. Buying on: January 05, 2014, 10:21:48 PM
I am going to guess only knc and bitfury achieved ROI in terms of btc.
2869  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BlackArrow => Scam or not? on: January 05, 2014, 09:38:00 PM
you can see a one of their staff is inspecting for flaws on the hardware made, and she certainly does look Chinese to me. And them being located at China, that tallies up.

10/10 investigation work

The only reason I decided to give them a chance is because they (according to others) have delivered and even on time.
2870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GPU Farm on: January 05, 2014, 09:32:05 PM
How much capital would it take to start a GPU farm of at least 50 M/H. What all would be involved? Has anybody done this from personal experience? Can you post proof and guidance? I am seriously looking into starting a farm but would just like some info on where to begin and would like some info from a big hasher if possible?

At a rate of 1000 usd/mh 50mh would come to around 50 grand.

Cost of cards alone:
50mh worth of 270x = $200 x 100 = $20,000
280x = $300 x 65 = $19,500
290 = $400 x 50 = $20,000

Looks like all the cards are about equal in terms of usd/kh. Would probably come down to the most efficient card electricity wise.
2871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 05, 2014, 09:05:29 PM
Does anybody know why most alt exchange rates are going down the last week or so. While btc is on a steady rise.

Ive been adding more hashpower every few days, mostly upgrading gpus.
the more hashpower i add, the lower btc payouts get it seems. The total hashes displayed at the login screen does grow as aspected, so my workers do register at the site.

Am i the only one experiencing this or is the market just so depressing atm.

I haven't really noticed any major decline in profitability. More hashrate should equal more btc but luck is also part of the equation.
2872  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Moving Forward/Resolution Process on: January 05, 2014, 08:15:53 PM
Remember kids; next time you want to steal 5 million usd or more just follow these east steps:

- Create a bitcoin service (use a template for ultimate ease like bitfunder)
- Take your customers funds.

- When they ask for them back you reply "for legal reasons you cant have them or know why they are gone but we are totally working on it"

- Buy vacation house in south america and change name.
- Live happily retired.
2873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official R9 Graphics Card Voltage Locked/Unlocked list on: January 05, 2014, 06:05:41 AM
What exactly does underclocking voltage do? I assume increased efficiency at the cost of hashrate.

Will a locked card get less hashrate?
2874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7970 Issues on: January 05, 2014, 06:02:15 AM
Wait, you reset the heatsink and it temporarily worked, and then started heating up again? I think you found your issue, but just didn't completely fix it. Have another look at your thermal paste. Maybe get an accelero III? They're only like $85 on Newegg, and you will see lower core temps.

Is a $85 dollar fan really necessary? Whats the difference beteween that and one of the many $10-30 dollar fans?
2875  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The 94% Con by Jon Montroll on: January 05, 2014, 05:04:47 AM
So what you are saying is.... the verified fact is the customers lost coins...  however it is entirely possible Ukyo will have a brand new 60ft yacht next month ?

Bit strange this weex business.... How did the guy who was just the coder become the owner ? and why didn't the owner / managing director step in ?
I used weex for 10 minutes about a year ago. Ukyo was just the guy who ran the site and reset passwords.. I don't get it.

Apologies if I'm not up to date, its hard to keep track

As far as I know it was never a real company. It was all just ukyos weekend project. Looking at the site it was pretty obvious someone whipped it up fairly quick. But yea literally no information is known but apparently it is being handled according to ukyo.

I think I missed a vital piece of information.. in the 30 pages..
How did he loose the coins....... ?

Here is a list of all the verified facts:

- they're gone.

For me, the whole point of spending hours in reading all of you guys in here is to get different views and perspectives. So I would appreciate it even more without fighting parts thats all im saying  Cheesy

Couldn't agree more. In my experience the only thing to come out of I tense debates is further understanding of the subject. Being proven wrong is one of my favorite/least favorite ways of learning. However with mabsark it is a different case. He has already shared his speculation in the speculation thread and many people there disagreed so he changed threads and started over spamming here. Debating about future difficulty is and always will be pointless without a magic crystal ball and should be left in mining speculation.

A better thing to debate would be how AM will stack up against the competition. And looking at the competition(or lack of) it seems to me that asicminer will have an easy time coming out on top if they can just deliver.
