Here's a real world example where three S1's are consuming a total of 500w hashing at 140gh/s each:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526060.0

What about it? bitmain always advertised up to 0.68w/gh.

Can you see past your simple arithmetic for a moment and understand it's the principle being demonstrated in the example?

Now let's go further using the principle. If you're making your own ASICs you're paying somewhere in the neighborhood of the square root of dirt. Got that math? If the relationship between power and performance is not linear then there's potentially a sweet spot somewhere below where you flex your muscles and advertise your ASICs at when you're attempting to sell each one for top dollar. If you're building say, 23p of mining facilities that you're not flogging on eBay when you think you're done with it; you're going to build it to work for you as long as possible. Who's to say 11.52 Gh/s is the sweet spot when we don't have the other numbers? It may be a good point for RM to operate his first equipment based on his profit margins at the time his equipment will hit market but it's a snapshot in a much longer time line.

What are you talking about?

What exactly does bitmain chips meeting advertised specs prove?

Either you cant read a chart or you are assuming current asics run at a point to the extreme left of that chart

Yes this is exactly what I am assuning due to the fact that no asic manufacturer has advertised below 0.5w/gh (bitfury excluded) and nobody has been able to significantly undervolt below advertised limit.

Quote
which would also imply those other asics can be overclocked by factor of 2-3x. Here is hint: almost none can. KnC, HF, CT, bitmain, Bitmine .. you'd be lucky to hit advertised speeds, let alone 2-3x more.

Either way, welcome to my ignore list.

Heres a hint:

knc can be overclocked 1.7 times  (700gh/s vs advertised 40gh/s)
Hashfast can be overclocked 2 times (800gh/s vs 400gh advertised)
And bitmain can be overclocked 2 times (200gh vs 100gh advertised)

All of which have no problem hashing at advertised speeds.

Again, got any evidence that other manufacturers are not on the far left side of that chart?
1924  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [Poll] - Is pbmining legit? on: May 04, 2014, 09:40:23 AM
a company with that size without a office or any Datacenter Pictures. I mean i you are running such a big DC aren't you a bit proud of it and brag with that?
Not if you are smart about it.
Keep in mind that 300TH are worth ~0,7M USD, so if it was me, i wouldn´t tell anyone anything....
Unless you are prepared to invest in an army of security personnal.

Also, I am not saying that they would be in breach of any contract, but many hardware manufacturers forbid the resale etc. of the equipment, atleast on a commercial level.

For what its worth, they have a very reputable ebay account.

True but that doesn't excuse them from taking pictures/videos. Or explain why they would be mixing coins.

Got a link to their ebay account?

Caveat Emptor!  Information asymmetry detected.

ITs not meant as promotion for BFL, Id be the last person to suggest you order anything from there. But the chart is interesting and relevant to earlier discussions about how you can scale power efficiency of every ASIC. Even if you take those numbers with a table spoon of salt, it nicely illustrates my point.  There is about a factor 3x difference in power efficiency depending what voltage/frequency point you pick. That spread is not going to be vastly different for any other bitcoin asic.

I think it illustrates the exact opposite. Notice the diminishing returns at around 0.3w/gh? Other manufacturers may have hit that limit at 0.6w/gh (bitfury excluded).
1926  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: May 04, 2014, 08:47:20 AM
Hello Everyone,

This dividend was indeed the last payout. I'd like to clarify some of the details.

Per share payout: BTC 0.0076
Total payout (13595 shares): BTC 103.322

The 18 Terraminers were sold for a total of BTC 87.35140479. The rest of the dividend Garr paid symbolically for the Single SC's and GPU rigs since selling them is pretty much impossible.

so 100btc for 16 cointerra miners = ~$2,700 per terraminer! (assuming the bfl singles were set on fire because selling on ebay would be too hard)

The price is actually a pretty good deal. Please refer to the new price of the miners at the CoinTerra website. Compared to the purchase price the second hand sales seem low, but considering the current hardware market and difficulty bumps the price is very decent.

So to correct my statement: 18 terraminers for 87btc = 4.8 btc or $2000 per terraminer! 50% off cointerras price.. Not bad.

I am sure cog shareholders will be happy now because as we know above all what they want is for icedrill to get a very good deal on the hardware they paid for.

Oh and the surprise dividend was a nice touch. Really sticking it to anyone who was naive enough to think 0.007 couldn't possibly be the final dividend. And a buyback would be too logical.

The fact that PBMining doesn't seem to give a shit what I think is huge evidence in its favor.

Seems legit...

Do you really think lack of evidence = evidence of legitimacy?

Is a few pics of their massive farm too much to ask for?

Or non mixed coins?
1928  Bitcoin / Mining / [Poll] - Is pbmining legit? on: May 03, 2014, 10:02:28 PM
This thread created because https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=484355.0 is lacking a poll.

As far as I can tell pbmining has provided no photo/video evidence of their massively scaling 300TH farm.

They also run their coins through a mixer which can only be a bad sign.

They seem to be paying out regularly but this would be entirely possible if they were a ponzi.
1929  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (235 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: May 03, 2014, 09:44:33 PM
Is it true you guys pay $0.4/kwh like cognitive mining?
1930  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: May 03, 2014, 09:31:41 PM
Presumably that was the final sell-off dividend that just came through.  0.00762344BTC/unit

Wow if that's true then cog shareholders got fucked even more than I expected on this one.

so 100btc for 16 cointerra miners = ~$2,700 per terraminer! (assuming the bfl singles were set on fire because selling on ebay would be too hard)

Such a great deal for the scammers that charged $0.4/kwh and a $1,000 setup fee (and they got out of a $6000 shipping fee that cog apparently needs to pay)

It is sad but it doesn't excuse your lack of due diligence.
...

jimmothy, why in the world would i do due diligence on something that is clearly a scam at first glance, and something no sane person would *think* of investing in?
My due diligence was satisfied right after I stopped laughing and threw another coffee-ruined keyboard into the trash.
You're still thinking that strangers are here to help you.  That may have been the case once, when the idiot crumbs (bless his misguided egalitarian soul) tried to present you with logic and facts and shit, only to be called a troll and B

Why do you spend hours days here then? For fun? Don't you have something better to do than trolling?

Are you not crumbs?
1932  Economy / Securities / Re: NEOBEEQ on: May 03, 2014, 07:07:32 PM
jimmothy:
What's even more hilarious is none of the intrepid investors spent those five minutes googling before handing over millions to Danny.
Expecting others to do your due diligence is what got you here in the first place.
Stay angry.
Stay stupid.
Stay poor.

It is sad but it doesn't excuse your lack of due diligence.

How do you explain and DOZENS of hours spent trolling over a period of MONTHS about something you know nothing about?

Do you do any due diligence before dedicating all of your time to diatribes?

Why focus on retarded shit like 10% swings in share price?

But please do ignore the fact that everything you said for the past 6 months was useless garbage and keep patting yourself on the back because you guessed neobee was a scam without researching it what so ever.

You are an incompetent troll. Unless your goal was to distract and get ignored.

An exchange duped by TaT?  Havelock d00d doesn't do his own due diligence?  That explains a few things

You're right tat totally duped havelock along with each of his investors who trusted him enough to lose their money to bitfunder and neobees failure. But I guess all you have to do is terminate your contract and throw a little tantrum when shit goes down and you can wash your hands clear of the huge mess. I wonder how much money tat made from these scams.

Also it's a bit hilarious that you and a few other trolls spent literally months trolling the neobee thread day in and day out and the shit you trolled about was laughable/ignorable. You didn't take 2 seconds to find out danny already had 5 failed businesses. Very nice due diligence.

Or do you not need to do your due diligence before a 6 month diatribe?
1934  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 03, 2014, 10:01:44 AM
It seems that Spondoolies-Tech's chip is better than AM  3-generation ship on power consumption, but it's more expensive than AM.

Not exactly. SP hammer is 0.58w/gh at 7gh compared to AM 0.55w/gh at 12gh.

Also we don't know how much complete miners will cost but my guess is under $2/gh.
1935  Economy / Securities / Re: NEOBEEQ on: May 03, 2014, 09:40:57 AM
Well, that didn't last long.

Another smear on the reputation of Havelock.

More like a smear on ThickasThieves reputation. He brought that garbage to havelock.
1936  Economy / Securities / Re: [Mpex.co] The Scientology of Bitcoin Finance? on: May 03, 2014, 05:41:23 AM
Well, it really does seem to be getting bought.

Contract and stats are here.

Impressive. I wonder how much of that buying is someone other than mircea. My guess is ~20btc. Not bad for an "ill stick your money in just-dice because you lack the mental capabilities fund"

Mircea could make a lemonade stand fund asking for 5000 btc and the investonomers from the cult of bitcoin-assets would still buy in*. I wouldn't be surprised if he sells more than 12 million bitcoins worth of shares knowing he can keep buying from himself indefinitely.

*as long as it involves fleecing money from gamblers, cooking the books, and monthly financial reports (no matter how vague).

Have you tried underclocking? Bitfury claims their chips can go as low as 0.38w/gh at lowest voltage.

These are A1s?

My bad. Same question though.

Mr teal any plans on using chips from a reputable manufacturer like AM or spondoolies? You seem like a nice guy but it's a shame you chose to work with one of the scummiest companies.

Hell even avalon would be a better partner.

When asked about the problems, Mr Brewster said: "The caterers and the seven people who purchased tickets did not enter into a contract with me as a person or send me any money, they entered into a contract with Future Entertainment Ltd which is now a failed business and a separate legal entity."

Wow that sounds exactly like ukyos excuse with bitfunder/weexchange.. I wonder if he got the advice from danny. Maybe this was all a conspiracy?

Also here are 3 more failed companies created by mr brewster:

edit: here's another one http://companycheck.co.uk/director/915266963/MR-DANNY-BREWSTER

Does that make it 6 now?
