People who are creating Nxt accounts and looking for a way to help the coin: consider giving a hand with our Wikipedia page. It has been marked for deletion. The main reason is because most the cited references point to this forum, and the Wikipedia gods (rightfully) think that's Not A Good Thing. I think we can correct this by researching and citing articles that back up the validity of the coin: proof-of-stake mechanisms, white papers on colored coins and decentralized exchanges, etc. Use these citations to reinforce the wikipedia page, and we may be able to keep the page from being deleted. I have some coin I can donate to people who assist with this. Thankfully wikipedia tracks edit history, so I'll be able to verify the work and give rewards accordingly  The wikipedia page is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NxtAFAIK, only Bitcoin, Namecoin, and Litecoin have Wikipedia pages that AREN'T marked for deletion. Let's make Nxt the fourth. Post this in the main thread too man! |

NXT sounds like a very interesting coin- I really like the functional and environmental advantages it could offer which seem to overcome some of the major disadvantages of BTC. I have put my money where my mouth is and bought ~20K NXT. I think if the promotion (and clarity of information on the websites) improves then this has really serious potential as it's so different to the other coins out there. Have posted on Facebook about it too :-)

Hello guys! Just a beginning: live discussion with some people from industry, watched and liked by top e-commerce people of Russia. But best win so far - today I convinced my partners to implement NXT currency into our games. First our game will be launched at March-April, you don't know this game (it's a Royal Flush Poker - a real 3D poker made with Unity3D for social networks). Second will be re-launched at autumn 2014, probably you heard about it - it's Afterworld, a game with real cash economy, very much like Entropy Universe. So while I can't show you any big results, and won't be able to show them anytime soon, a really good promotion been made and very good decisions were made by our company. I look forward when we will release a standalone version of Poker to implement NXT as a payment method (and maybe even cash out method) too. More promotion and work coming soon. I have created a Wikipedia page for Nxt, at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nxt. I've put some solid work into it, but the truth is that most of the sources for the article are this forum, so the page has been flagged for deletion and may be gone in a week. I'd encourage any experienced wikipedia editors to help me find verifiable, reputable sources for the content there. If worse comes to worse, though, we MAY have to deal with a deletion and rebuild the page after the coin launches, when there will likely be other sources we can cite. I've pulled a copy of the current content, just in case. Oh, and the Nxt Wiki is being regularly updated as well. I'd like to completely reorganize it (because the single page is getting too large) but am waiting to have admin privileges granted to me for that Wikia page. If I get impatient, I may fork off the content and form a new wiki elsewhere, since it appears the user who created the Wikia page is AWOL. (EDIT: spelling) Very nice wiki I like it. Try some more to save wikipedia page it is very important! 10K! |

We still need exchanges yes, because at this point we are still getting money in to Nxt
Nxt also uses Colored Coins, which is a way of saying you can use Nxt to trade Bitcoins, Litecoins, USD, etc
A colored Nxt can represent a different value as the user sees fit. The network is announced, and the value put in. I imagine there will be a whole exchange for colored coins where you could simply state what you wish to value it as, ie 1Btc, and deposit that amount, then whoever you sent that specific coin to would be able to redeem it for that original value
Mining is a power wasting arms race in Bitcoins, as soon as new miners are released they are obsolete. Nxt is the opposite. Wealth has no value if you don't spend it. If EVERYONE held all their Nxt no one would transfer and no one would make fees.
From as I understand it, using colored coins allows the value of the 1Billion cap to be breached. You can convert btc into a colored coin and then transfer it, paying a forging fee worthy of the transaction, so you only need 1nxt to transfer a lot of different amounts, plus you pay forging fees, and the holders earn interest for their supporting the network
as someone else wrote, it costs money to mine Btc, ASICS, power, and this will keep going up,making it a doomed venture, as well as less secure when someone with bad intents takes over 51% of the mining.
Nxt takes Nxt to forge. Which is still cheap. and will not be diluted or caught in an arms race. and will not get less secure.
That 5btc purchase will get you around 400k Nxt now. Thats .04% of all hashing power FOREVER, which will give you 40 blocks a day, which when this thing is really churning could earn 100's of Nxt a day.
For 5btc. Wow.
