Question.

In the pool stats it gives a best-share of :5,457,984,292
My pool stats show a bestshare of :       96,813,886,812.256165

??
Best share resets after someone finds a block. Bestever doesn't reset.
2862  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BEST COMPUTERS FOR BTC MINING on: May 07, 2016, 09:53:26 AM
Absolutely no computer of any size shape cost or form can produce bitcoin in any meaningful capacity whatsoever any more. Even the most powerful supercomputer is useless. You need dedicated ASIC bitcoin mining hardware to mine bitcoins. The computers don't do the mining, they just run the mining hardware.

Repeat after me: There is nothing wrong with the pool. There is no way to game the system. The big pools can't do anything to small pools. There is no spoon conspiracy.

The only thing that's happened is a run of bad luck and fighting orphans with an overwhelmingly large pool.

Back to mining.

300GH if I recall correctly.

Sacrifice here to appease the spirits of the dark pool

Everything will be fine now

You forget who owns the pool. It would be more something like this:

BUT where do CKPool users have a choice on how much they 'donate' in fees ?
You're confusing the ckpool software which kano was talking about with kano's kano.is ckpool. But now we're way off topic.
To make it on topic, note I have on numerous occasions suggested ckpool can be used as an intermediary to make part of p2pool scale better, but that adds yet another layer of complexity to setting up p2pool.

Unless you're also planning to put a full bitcoin node there or solo mine on-site, then it's not a problem as mining on a pool uses very little actual bandwidth itself.

Has anyone else noticed that the transactions in the Mempool have skyrocketed over the last two days -- 16000 transactions  - could there be some kind of attack that is preventing us from hitting blocks ?
No

Well I rented 3.5P for 5 hours, didn't even improve on my 2B share I got with 40T.  Oh well...  That's why it's called the lotto.

New to renting and want to try it out.

when i sign up my pool
im going to use solo ck pool
under user name do i just put wallet address only? or address.worker1?
i dont need a password do i?
thanks
Welcome. Just address is fine if you're only going to have one worker. You don't need a password but if your rental service demands one, just put anything in, like x . The only difference between direct mining and rentals is that rentals often need you to use port 3334 in the configuration.
2872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitClub's fake offer to return fee blunder on: April 28, 2016, 12:05:41 AM
This isn't the first time and won't be the last. On every occasion a high fee mistake has occurred in the past that I can recall, if a known entity has mined the transaction - i.e. a pool - if the person who sent the transaction has come forth, the pool has returned their BTC. There is no reason to suspect bitclub would do otherwise here.
2873  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 27, 2016, 11:01:07 PM

Unfortunately the issues remain the same as they've always been and the suggestions for how to get more people to use p2pool haven't changed in years but none of that is working. I don't see a revolutionary way out of this predicament unless it's totally redesigned. Alas I don't think anyone has solutions for the existing design even if they were to start from scratch again.

Does anyone know with any empirical knowledge whether weekends tend to be below, at, or above average on average? Or is it all just one day as lucky as the next with the randomness of Pool blocks.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that overall all days on average are average.

You're wasting your time. You can get any miner to connect to any algorithm pool if they use the same communication protocol but there is absolutely no crossover in the results of mining a different algorithm.
2880  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: April 21, 2016, 07:40:24 AM
Do they plan on changing the Donator Status requirements soon? The donator status looks nice and it helps contributes to the forum but $4,418 (as of right now), is way too much to pay for it considering how much 10BTC was worth a couple of years ago.
Considering this question is answered on average every 4th post in this thread, I suggest you do some back reading before posting.
