Tried something tonight - set up ccminer on my rig, solo mining BTC, using the X11 Algo, and it's hashing. But I'm not sure I can use X11 for BTC, only SHA256. May sound like a stupid question, but wanted to ask anyway, as I've never tried anything with BTC before, only altcoins. And I know I'm just wasting power effectively, not bothered Smiley

You can't use the X11 algo.  What program are you using? Are you seeing any messages?

Using ccminer, and I'm seeing hash messages, plus block messages, thus:

It doesn't seem to be submitting any shares.  What do you type into the command line to start it?

You're wasting your time. You can get any miner to connect to any algorithm pool if they use the same communication protocol but there is absolutely no crossover in the results of mining a different algorithm.

Not only is there no ay to mine bitcoin with X11, there are confirmed asics that are for sale that do X11.  So your fighting a battle you will not win OP.   If you are talking about GPU mining... you are going to be going after altcoins.

Bitcoin is sha256 and it's asics just do this.  You will not find any good dual miners of current efficiency..

if you have those so called x11 asic, why you don't point it to dash or nicehash and earn bitcoin indirectly, it's the same if you want to mine bitcoin

one of those can do 0.1 a day with 300w only, better than any sha asic

Cheers all, yeah the indirect route of mining alt and trading to BTC is what I am now doing. Appreciate the inputs.
