Due to shipping complications, the IPO won't be until Monday. Sorry for any inconvience this has caused.
2862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC-GLOBAL] Litecoin Silver Mutual Fund IPO 9/13/2013 (tomorrow) on: September 13, 2013, 06:59:19 PM
My mail seems to be running a little bit late, but the tracking info still says out for delivery. So the IPO will be released a bit later than I intended, but it should be today.
2863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scrypt Bitcoin Threads NOT Allowed on: September 13, 2013, 03:20:17 PM
this is bitcointalk.org, not scryptbitcointalk.org
This is "Alternate cryptocurrencies" dude. And I think everyone has the right to decide for itself - mine or not to mine this altcoin.

Not entirely true. The Alt Currencies board was made to completely seperate all of the alt coins from the rest of the Bitcoin forums, as the majority of the users here aren't interested or care to know anything about alt coins. When Bitcoin users who have no other knowledge of alt currencies find "Bitcoin" threads, how are they supposed to know anything about it, including that it can erase your wallet. What do you think the chances are of someone going into the market section, offering "Bitcoins" for something, and then scamming them with Scrypt Bitcoins saying they never specified. That or getting out of gambling debts using Scrypt Bitcoins. Its just going to be a major pain until they are renamed, hence the decision.

Renaming it is all fine and good like you said, I'll check it out when it happens. And I will again, discuss it with the rest of the staff.

And you said you tried it with a very small test amount, however on nearly every other Scrypt Bitcoin thread, including the original announcement thread, there is a warning saying it can overwrite your Bitcoin files. So unless you are willing to stake your name, and have thousands of Bitcoins on standby ready to pay anyone back who loses them by accident, its still best to be cautious about the situation.

This isn't about censorship. Its about protecting people's already established assets, and to do so we have to keep a coin with just a few users on the hush hush. I don't agree with censorship for the most part, and you will see many of the staff members here have the same general viewpoints as the community. However, like I said there is a line between censorship and protecting people. If the forums had a no censorship policy, we would also allow Malware and Advertisments, however we don't, and there is no one complaining about that.

Also, keep in mind, as this came up a lot when we were trying to get subboards here in the Alt section. This is a Bitcoin forum. The fact that Alt Coins are even allowed here is a pleasantry contingent that we try and issolate it here, so it doesn't spill over to the rest of the forums. The Admins of the site could just as easily say, alright no more Alt coins allowed here, because its getting confusing. If you feel very strongly on keeping Scrypt Bitcoins named Scrypt Bitcoins, talk to the Alt Currency forums about it, however for the reasons I mentioned before and now, these forums are very cautious of them as there is a huge potential for abuse.
2864  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver on: September 13, 2013, 03:58:55 AM
When I searched for different Silver topics with the in site search engine, I couldn't find any that really fitting what I was looking for.

So I wanted to make a thread to get some questions answered.

What is the average price of Silver in USD? ( $20-25 an oz right? )
What is the average price of Silver in BTC?
Is there a good website to discuss Silver like there is Bitcoin?
What is the best website to buy bulk silver on?
Are their websites that sell bulk silver for Bitcoin?
What is the best material to use when making a Silver cast? (rings, figurines, etc)
Are there trustworthy people on Bitcointalk selling Silver?

What are the best tools to use to begin making your own silver art?
What do you need to flatten silver?
What do you need to etch images into silver?
What do you need to stamp images into silver?
What do you need to bend silver?
Why does everyone hate on silver shot/grain? Is it not pure?

1) The average price of silver changes daily. In the last few months, it has been anywhere from $20 - $35 per oz aproximately

2) The average price of silver in BTC would be something you would have to calculate using the silver price, and the Average BTC price

3) There are plenty of precious metal forums, if you google it, you will find many many names. For your purposes though, I would try and avoid the numismatic ones, as they deal in rare old silver coins and such.

4) If you need a very large amount, I'd check APMEX, they are one of the biggest names in silver, and they offer a grabbag sort of deal for $.70 over spot per ounce, for random pieces of silver. However they are guarenteed to be .999 and of the weight you purchase.

5) I'm not sure about Bulk silver, for BTC, but Amagi is pretty reputable.

6) When making things out of silver, use sterling silver .925 Silver. .999 Silver is too soft and if if you make things out of it, it will get dented and dinged all to hell.

7) Everyone on BTCTalk is trustworthy if you use escrow and test your silver to make sure its not fake

8.  Some of the basics, you will need a metal melting crucible. I'd advise a electric one that you can melt up to .5-1KG in for like $500, or you can get hard core and make a ceramic one. You will also need an anvil, planching hammer, proper waxes for modeling, and various other tools that I don't entirely remember off of the top of my head.

9) It really depends on how much silver you are talking about for flatening, stamping, and etching. Silver is a soft metal, however like for 1Oz coins, rounds, and bars like you see for sale by various companies, you will need at least a 10 ton hydraulic press. You can get away with just using muscle if you are doing much smaller stuff, like 1 gram coins.

10) You should be able to bend the silver with a hammer (proper type) and an anvil

11) People hate on Silver shot/grain because once the bag is opened, theres no guarentee of purity. The pieces tend to be too small to accurately test, so it could very easily be counterfeit.
2865  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold & Silver for Bitcoins on: September 12, 2013, 09:25:55 PM
Placed two orders on the 9th and 10th, one set to arrive tomorrow and one at a later date.

Great customer service so far, I've been a little bit annoying with the amount of info and updates I've required, but they have put up with me  Grin

I think adding 5 Oz Silver bullion, and more 10 Oz varieties would be awesome if you guys ever get around to it.
2866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC-GLOBAL] Litecoin Silver Mutual Fund *Updated 9/9/13* Voice your opinions on: September 12, 2013, 08:09:05 PM
Alright, here is what I believe to be my last update before the IPO, as its the most up to date info I have. The IPO will be tomorrow, Friday the 13th at 3:00 PM EST at the earliest, possibly an hour later depending on when my mail arrives. In case it arrives before 3PM, which is quite likely, I will still release the shares at 3PM EST.

My order at Amagi was actually two orders which I had hoped I had ordered close enough apart to have them combined in the same shipping package, however I was too late, so there will be 3,000 Shares worth 30 Troy Ounces of silver available for the IPO.

If I get any more information regarding anything I'll be sure to let you know, however the above mentioned information should be the most current information that I can recieve or give.

Thanks for the support,

SaltySpitoon

May I ask what you plan on stocking? I'm a big aquarium fan.

You are putting a fuge on a 11.4 Gallon tank? Or are you using the overflow box as a sump? Also, I've got some old 4KW Metal Hallides somewhere, I'm sure that would work much better than LEDS  Tongue
2869  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rogue Customer - " Scott Deleon " on: September 12, 2013, 05:04:09 AM
Oohhhh would you look at that, the trade level has been changed.

Kluge, lovely feedback. Sad that its invalid though?

Thats ok, we have plenty of clients that are happy with our services.

Seriously though, although only 4 or 5 people have commented so far, the fact that you are getting a response this strong must mean you are doing something wrong. If you want, you can wait for more feedback, but the "Its ok if we abuse our customers, we have plenty of others" is sort of the paypal mentality. And if you don't have 132 Million customers, that is going to bite you pretty quickly. Assuming it is within your rights to post his info, its still a very bad move, that I'd be willing to bet will negatively effect your business in terms of new customers and your current "happy" customers.

I'm pretty pissed off still about your lack of professionalism, and I'm not even one of your customers. I can't imagine how "happy" your customers will see when they see this.
2870  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rogue Customer - " Scott Deleon " on: September 12, 2013, 04:02:18 AM
While I don't agree with the release of customer information in the manner of the OP, can you provide a link to an authoritative source for the laws you cite? I ask because I don't believe your characterization of the law is correct, at least on a federal level, in the United States, with regard to non-financial information.

Id be happy to find it for you. I may have the order of things wrong there subsections and whatnaught, but as per FTC laws, you are not allowed to divulge living customer's information to anyone but business partners. I found the specific link the New Zealand's equivilent, which is more or less the same, because I believe quantumkiwi is based in NZ, however give me a moment and I'll find the U.S version, and link it.

http://www.business.ftc.gov/privacy-and-security/consumer-privacy

If you start here, there are a list of laws and guides. This section, Financial Privacy Rule (Privacy of consumer financial information) is pretty good, it has a lot of info that pertains to banks and financial institutions, but it also talks about personal information and the definitions of customers under non financial circumstances.
2871  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rogue Customer - " Scott Deleon " on: September 12, 2013, 03:26:01 AM

According to our lawyers, we have a right to disclose the case related to Scott Deleon to the public - As this provides both sides of the story, to allow people to make their own decision.

We offered Scott a refund multiple times, However he declined.

We do take privacy very seriously - However we will not tolerate false accusations against our company.

Feel free to check out " scam accusations " against web hosts on WHT forums. You will notice 99% of all web hosts that are accused of being a scam, actually disclose the case information to the public within the forums and provide the other side of the story.

It seems a few people are against us disclosing the case, Do you think its ok for clients to go out and make false accusations against a company and the company does nothing?

SaltySpitoon - Do you run a business? I highly doubt it.

Actually yes, I have run quite a few over the years, and have had to deal with some people I wish I hadn't, but you legally and morally are not allowed to release customer information. Go find a case where Paypal, Ebay, or more relevant in your field, Namecheap, or GoDaddy ever released customer information. Also, your "lawyers" are wrong in this case, as you are violating U.S Consumer protection laws under the database privacy section of FTC Online Merchant laws. If you gather information from a customer, you are not allowed to release that information in any form to anyone, except registered business offiliates and for advertising purposes, with proper identification shields. If you are hosting outside of the U.S, it may not necessarily be illegal, however it is in incredibly poor taste.

All legality asside, because this is crypto world, and chances are, Mr. Deleon is not going to sue you, however after seeing this thread, not a single crypto user would dare use your service. One of the founding theories behind crypto currencies is reasonable privacy. I'm actually apalled that you would give out a customers name like this. They purchased your services, whether happy or unhappy about it, but should not be treated like this, even if they have a low opinion of your service. The montra, "The Customer is always right" is actually not true. Many times customers will be dumbasses, however it is up to you to perform at an elevated level because you are a business, and try and resolve the solution. If he wouldn't take a refund, then you offer them compensation in the form of hosting, or some other arrangement. If they don't accept that, where they are bashing your company, you can truthfully say, we are sorry, and offered a full refund or X, but the customer was not interested. In that case you are in the right, and the person complaining looks like someone who is just mad for the sake of being mad.

You cannot say, have a good opinion of us, or we will release your information. It just doesn't work like that.

*Edit* Even if you are not based out of the U.S, your customer is so I am 100% certain, that if they wished to persue it, they would have grounds to sue your company. And for the record, I don't have anything personal against you, or your company, however I am very very firm on the belief that privacy is the most valuable thing people have around here, and they are entitled not to lose their right of privacy unless they have scammed someone.
2872  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rogue Customer - " Scott Deleon " on: September 12, 2013, 03:01:56 AM
Emails informing Scott Deleon of the fact that if, he makes the case public - We will also make it public and disclose all information related to " Scott Deleon's Accusations ".

If he wants to go out and make false accusations about our company, Its fair that the public knows exactly how hes been apparently " scammed ".

Privacy? Oh yeah, thats for clients that RESPECT OUR COMPANY and don't make rubbish false accusations.

Seriously if you want to take this guys side, go for it Smiley

Yeah, for a dispute over $5, you probably would have been best not to sell out your "rogue" customer's information like that. The Crypto community takes privacy very seriously, and you probably just got rid of more customers with this thread than some guy saying bad things about you did. People make a lot of accusations, and people tend to disregard them and look into matters themselves, perhaps a little more skeptically than before, but no one takes the word of anyone here, because the term scam is overused. However like I said, this is far worse press than them claiming your site is a scam.

Although, over $5, and because you acknowledge the IP banning mistake on your end, why didn't you just refund their money? It was $5.

Also, you can't say, privacy only to those who respect our name...
2873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scrypt Bitcoin Threads NOT Allowed on: September 11, 2013, 11:44:44 PM
Is this "Scrypt Bitcoin" malevolent or just a silly idea ?

Not intentionally so I don't believe, however since it has the same name and directories and such, if people don't go out of their way to get around it, the Scrypt Bitcoin will overwrite your SHA Bitcoin's files, losing your coin.
2874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scrypt Bitcoin Threads NOT Allowed on: September 11, 2013, 11:27:39 PM
It's kinda sad, because if they had just actually named it Bitcoin2, all these issues, would have been avoided.

Agreed, I was trying to get ahold of the Scrypt Bitcoin Dev, however they are pretty elusive. The first plan was to just have people put Disclaimers in their threads so everyone would know for certain which Bitcoin they were dealing with. The risk of having your Bitcoin wallet overwritten is why we aren't allowing Scrypt Bitcoin threads.

hehe, I broke them.
2877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: chat banning at cryptsy on: September 11, 2013, 10:55:20 PM
Its kind of an unspoken rule to keep banning drama from BTC-E, Cryptsy, etc on the exchange itself. There isn't much we can do for you here about being chat banned from a site that the forums has no affilation with.
2878  Economy / Lending / Re: 5 BTC Loan with 15% interest. To be invested in cryptocurrencies, and ASIC Miner on: September 11, 2013, 10:49:23 PM
How about an Alienware M17x laptop?  It's my mobile gaming laptop that I am willing to put up as collateral.

Just to make sure you are understanding everything right, that would require you mail your Laptop to whoever is offering you the loan, and having them mail it back after you repay the loan. You are looking at $40 or so for shipping both ways. However, someone would probably take you up on that offer.

Also, how long is the loan for?

No, but technically he still owes .45 BTC unless Sitnicki and he agree upon something else.
