Ethereum classic hashrate is already full of asics with less than 5 gigabytes of memory. When other ASICs with more memory come here after the end of Ethereum mining, there will be no profit for video cards. The price of ETHW futures has already fallen over 50%, and when the exchanges open coin transfers, everything will end up with a big drop.

I'm following the hashrate of both coins and it's clear about the 5gb Asics changing to ETC, and there are another miners changing to ETC to delay the bomb in ETH (I don't know how many)
About ETHW we can't say anything yet because it's only futures right now, once the fork happens, people will probably dump a lot, it will be free money for some, but in the long run, maybe will hold some value.

I'm anxious to have these answers about the future of mining, somehow I think we'll have a balance
People are not considering a strong POW coin arising, and the next bull run can bring again good profits for us home/small miners

Another thing I wish (just wish ok) ETC changes dag size to 5gb to kick out Asics  Cheesy

I already received the payment exactly as the proposed deal

Thank you, it was nice to test a good product.
2885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: August 24, 2022, 10:29:35 AM
I still can't understand how a team that were expected to reach the finale could be eliminated by North Macedonia in the play-off round. I know that it has been a long time since it happened but it's hard to absorb.
Injuries can play a big role for the competing teams in this World Cup.
...

I'd like to asnwer this because this is why we are here betting on soccer (other sports too) but soccer is something else...
A lot of matches are simply unpredictable, maybe impossible to find out what's happened.

I don't think Italy lost the chance to World Cup due to injuries, look at the chart:

If I ask any person here which team to bet on 1st place, I'm sure more than 90% would say Italy, but somehow Switzerland was more consistent and won the world cup slot
This was where Italy lost the spot
Curiosity: Italy didn't lose a match in groups, 6 more teams didn't lose too.
So, strange things always happens in soccer, and EUFA qualifiers is a hard way to get to World Cup.

Next World Cup will have more teams, Italy have the chance to get a new generation of players to play again in a higher level.
2886  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 23, 2022, 09:54:31 PM
You have very limited choice for under 100 USD budget, only Trezor Model One or Ledger Nano S plus, but I would never spend a single dollar on ledger products.
I know BestBuy in US is selling hardware wallets but I would suggest looking for official resellers, or you simply buy wallet in shops available in your own country, before you go traveling.
My suggestion is to only choose open source hardware wallets like Trezor, BitBox02, Keystone or Passport (not easy to buy it now).

Alternative option you can do is to buy Rasberry Pi zero and use is as signing device for Bitcoin, turning it into SeedSigner.
You can also do just fine if you use some offline laptop dedicated for Bitcoin transactions.

In my country hardware wallets are very expensive, and to be honest I don't trust 100% to buy from here.
I took a look at these options, good wallets, keystone looks amazing, and I like the idea of a DIY wallet with Raspberry pi zero
Thanks for the help

I think I found a good solution here: https://shop.trezor.io/faq/

Trezor have a store on Amazon and in my simulation they ship to an Amazon Hub ( I think it's a locker ), and Trezor One is 85 USD
2887  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 23, 2022, 04:50:36 PM
Thank you guys for the help  Smiley
I'm so sorry if I didn't explain well, but there's no problem with safety or privacy here, the only problem is my trip will last 1 week only.

Why do you need one so quickly? What are you staying at in the US and what do you have available to get one shipped to you.
My trip is 1 week only.

It's hard to verify the device is genuine if you buy from a reseller from what I know of both trezors and ledger.
Yes, I know it's not commom, but I'm afraid to buy from third party, this is the reason I asked about some store in US, because I saw Best Buy selling Ledger.

Maybe this would help: FAQ:Ordering and shipping

Trezor has official resellers in many countries, including US: https://trezor.io/resellers/
Thanks, I saw this reseller, I don't know if anyone here already bought from them. I know Trezor sends to US in a couple of days, but I'll have to get some adress (maybe the Hotel?)

@rdluffy, I don't want to get into your private reasons why you need a hardware wallet so urgently, but considering that you are traveling to the US, you should know that all electronic devices are subject to checks by official personnel at airports. I know that I would not like to be in a position to explain what this is all about, nor to have such a device taken away from me, which is possible by law. I think those are some things you should consider.

If you're disappointed with the Ledger based on what you've read, then simply don't buy it - this especially applies to the model S, which will no longer be produced, and the question is how long it will have support. However, for a price of less than $100, you don't have much choice, at least not if it's something with a good reputation.

No need to worry about my reasons  Smiley, there's no safety or privacy issue here, only my trip will last 1 week and I don't have an US adress to send from official source.
I'll think about it, but I thought (as I already said above) maybe some stores in US sell hardware wallets like Best Buy.

My main reason to get one is the last hacks / exploits / exchanges freezing withdraws etc, I'm worried and I want to get all my coins in a more safe environment.

Thanks for your help too
2888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: kawpow hashrate changes all the time ? on: August 23, 2022, 04:29:12 PM
I've mining ETH for a long time, but I mined some RVN before

The algo Kawpow was made to not work with Asics or at least to make the life os Asics devs very hard, it's the 3rd algo of RVN evolution.
Explaining in a simple way, it's like a couple of algos and the order of these are based on the hash of the last generated block.
It's better to read the official info here:

Quote
The algorithm is intended to address the centralization of mining caused by ASIC hardware. In the original X16R algorithm paper, the team behind the currency explains that the fixed order of ordinary hashing algorithms lends itself to the construction of ASIC miners.

The initial X16R algorithm aimed to overcome this problem by constantly disrupting the ordering of the hashing algorithms – it uses the same algorithms used in X15 and SHA512, but the ordering of those algorithms was changed based on the hash of the previous block. Eventually it became economically viable for X16R ASIC's and the community decided to implement new algorithms to mitigate the unfair distribution of Ravencoin. The community has carried out 2 algorithm forks to date to mitigate the potential efficiency improvements of the ASIC miners equipment compared to over the counter consumer grade equipment.

The current  KAWPOW algorithm aims to overcome the problem of centralisation of mining by utilising over the counter graphic processing unit (GPU) memory and compute capabilities. This is intended to allow most consumer grade GPU hardware to mine Ravencoin. The KAWPOW algorithm was derived from ProgPOW and ethhash, with modifications, to improve the distribution of Ravencoin to everyone.

@Agbe can you edit the poll to include more squads? (reset this one)

Italy will not play World Cup

My suggestion is something like the most favorite in the odds:

  • France
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • Portugal
  • Netherlands
  • England
  • Belgium

This way we can see which team is the favorite among us  Grin
2890  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: PSA: Cuidado com as extensões de navegador on: August 23, 2022, 11:12:02 AM
...

Sempre importante manter o navegador atualizado.

I don't know if it's good or not but why if you change the rules to 2 spots per user?
 Just a suggestion ok

I'm bumping this thread, maybe another couple of South americans will see and post here, but there's 21 spots left
2893  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 22, 2022, 09:44:13 PM
Hey guys, first of all I already read the posts here about which hardware wallet to buy but I have a few questions about, and I think a new topic is better than ask in old ones

I'm going to travel to US next week, and I don't have a hard wallet until now, but I need one ASAP

I was so sure about a Ledger Nano S, because I can find in Best Buy, but after reading here some threads, I'm disappointed with the reviews, specially this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5370521.0

My conditions are:

  • Under 100 USD
  • Available to buy in USA
  • Preference to buy in a store (not mandatory)

I think Ledger is the only one Best Buy sells, and Trezor website shows that is located in Czech Republic, but I don't have US adress.
I found this reseller in Trezor's website, but I'm scared to buy outside any official website: https://www.thecryptomerchant.com/products/trezor-hardware-wallet

Thank you guys Smiley

2895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 22, 2022, 06:01:32 PM
So you did a thread to promote the delay

I don't have a huge number of GPUs, I'm under 1Ghs haha, but I'll move some Hashrate to ETC too, right now I'm full ETH via Ethermine receiving in Polygon Network
I used to mine ETC a long time ago, I think in 2017-2018 I mined some full coins of ETC but sold after that.

It will be an interesting experience if we can delay the bomb some days, everyone will notice this haha, and I'll be happy to have some more days to accumulate more ETH
2896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 04:53:41 PM
Not gpus but I think you meant asics and I think you are right, there are too many 5gb asics that stopped working recently and I assume that is why eth network hashrate decreased. The truth here is x profit, etc at moment gives 2x less than eth, no sane miner with gpus with more than 5gb would change to etc.

I know about Jasminer and Innosilicon A10pro, both 5GB asics
Is there more?
If I remember correctly, the Bitmain E9 have 6Gb (and probably hundreds of them mining right now)

I'll try (not a promise haha) to make the math of the exacly moment ETH hit 5GB dag size and compare with the drop in hashrate, we can have some clue

I confess I'm very curious to know about the percentage of Asics in the network
2897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: August 22, 2022, 03:39:07 PM

Yes.. I believe in this round had several unforeseen events, the results of some games surprised many people...
I didn't bet on the Fortaleza x Corinthians game... because I would bet on Corinthians lol

But I did  Cheesy

I lost a good bet on Corinthians yesterday haha, I was so sure about the victory, I lost 25 BRL

Corinthians is lacking constancy, it's curious, the team won a game 4 x 0 against Athletico and got the classification for semi finals of Copa do Brasil, after that lost a match to a team almost at the demoting zone, and lost the 3 place, now it's 4th.
Even with so many new players, the situation is not good.
Now it's 10 points distant from the first place of Palmeiras.

I almost put 50 BRL, but I glad I didn't  Cheesy

2899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 03:14:17 PM
ETH has Vitalik
ETC has Vitalik words of support ( either real or not )
ETHW has who? Nobody

The case of the new PoW forks will end up just like BCH and BSV lol, I think miners will witness a very ugly future before things get better.

I posted here about this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5410662.msg60800136#msg60800136

ETHW (obviously) need devs + community to succeed
But I remember that even if a strong person supporting a coin it's not guaranteed success, the example is Roger Ver and Bitcoin Cash, even an early and famous adopter can't make BCH even a top 15 coin, after that fork they tried a lot, but people still use BTC instead of BCH.

Maybe a solution to ETHW is to have strong support from big exchanges, just an example, if Binance works with FTX and have some good devs, or a famous dev...
2900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 22, 2022, 12:24:36 PM
Nothing will be reset, this is not a brand new coin so do not expect anything of such, the journey will begin where Ethereum left off, the problem is how this project will survive, if all what ETHW have to offer is just the PoW algo its going

I think that PoW is enough boost for the ETHW coin for developers to start building their apps like they did in Ethereum and this will keep ETHW in track to become why not the new coin which differently from ETH may be supported by the miners and apps thus making it the new number one coin to be mined,of course this is the most optimistic scenario of all,if they did reset the Dag file which I find it highly unlikely,a lot of this coin can be mined in the beginning and this would also be beneficial to many miners, again this is another optimistic scenario.

Let's see
As a miner I always wish for POW coins to mine, but in the case of ETH, it's very dependant of Vitalik.
Most holders and community are happy with new POS and the future of ETH.

ETHW can flourish only if some good devs supports, and the strong  enemy here will be ETC and not ETH itself
Lot of miners are changing to ETC
