2881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Diamonds for Bitcoins on: June 12, 2014, 08:26:51 PM
I will be getting married this year,  and will need to buy a diamond ring.
No, you choose to buy a diamond ring. There is no need. it's a (very wasteful) ritual you are choosing to engage in, like marriage and reproduction.

You could instead choose to do something creative and unique for your loved one, such as personally diving for pearls until you've gathered enough of them to make her a necklace, but you opt for the "oh I'll just spend a bunch of money, so she knows I love her" route.

The exchange of these tokens, these "rare" (not really!) stones for marriage is a tradition that, like capitalism itself, is left over from the feudal age. Now go watch Blood Diamond.
2882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm a little skeptical of BTC at the moment, thinking of dropping out again. on: June 12, 2014, 07:47:02 PM
I'll buy your coins at $600 each. PM me.
2883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy (must read!) on: June 11, 2014, 06:57:52 PM
I don't see crypto-currencies making governments obsolete, just smaller.  Without the ability to borrow on a massive scale or impose an inflation tax and with the difficulty of enforcing an income tax, they'll have to rely on other sources of revenue like sales taxes and property taxes.
I agree, some governments will be hit harder than others. The ones that will suffer greatly are those that wager half their nation's economy on a military industrial complex, since they are entirely dependent on never-ending inflation to feed the monster. These types of violence-prone governments will be the hardest hit by the forced obsolescence of their fiat scrip. Places like Sweden will survive the transition relatively unscathed.

This was an excellent read, thank you for sharing.
2885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: June 11, 2014, 05:44:24 PM
just want to mark !!, hope we all can get rich after 2 years. 2 yearl later when bitcoin is 100000 per B ,i will be back..

Real value/wealth will come from gains in BTC/Gold, since $1,000,000/BTC will not matter if the Dollar is totally toilet paper.

At least you would have preserved your purchasing power by getting Gold/BTC but you can bet you would have make a profit in real terms as well
QFT, however...

I would argue that gold as a preservation of purchasing power has now become a rather dubious proposition at best. Bitcoin will reduce the value of gold to its ACTUAL USE VALUE.

Bitcoin is both digital cash AND digital gold, at the same time. It is cheaper and more secure to store than gold. Highly divisible. Any amount can be shipped to anywhere in the world, instantly, virtually for free.

Money is everything in our society. Bitcoin fundamentally restructures money. This changes absolutely everything. The consequences for our world will be tremendously, unimaginably far-reaching. This is a revolution.

Compare the exchange fees of Coinbase and Paypal and you will see what I mean. It's like comparing Blockbuster to Netflix - the former has no chance to compete in an open market - none.
2886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losers on: June 11, 2014, 04:50:02 PM
You haven't lost anything unless you sell.

Just hold that 1 BTC and be patient.
Wise words.

2887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losers on: June 11, 2014, 01:39:50 PM
OK... So your life savings last NOV 2013 you put in what $800 that is your life saving? did you save what $0.50 per week for 20 years...  sorry but you sound like a mass troll... or some real poor dude that could do better if he begged for some money..

you know there are people that have lost lot half a btc bot 100 or 1000 btc ... and you dont see them cry in forums...

Yes, life savings. Business went bankrupt during recession. Not everyone is born with a silverspoon stuck up their backside.
If you were wealthy enough to EVER own a business (be a slave-owner) you were doing far better than most Americans. Your story doesn't add up. I suspect you are a liar.
2888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm having some doubts about whether it's ethical to make money off of Bitcoin on: June 11, 2014, 01:33:51 PM
Bitcoin is more ethical than fiat. Also people have no choice about using fiat or not, bitcoin finaly gives people choice.
QFT, Bitcoin reclaims power for the people.
2889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losers on: June 11, 2014, 01:28:46 PM
I'm sorry you made the terrible life decision of breeding without being rich, OP.

We beings of superior intelligence had the foresight to nip our reproductive capabilities in the bud, before they could spawn a new human and cost us untold vast quantities of wealth.

Better luck in your next life, if there is one.

Kind regards,

Beliathon
2890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cost of bringing the Bitcoin network to a halt. on: June 11, 2014, 04:37:41 AM
What is the flaw in this if any?
Rational self-interest. Study some game theory and try again.
2891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin about to be 51%ed??? on: June 11, 2014, 04:36:54 AM
The dollar and other fiat are already 1%ed, nothing that bad can or will ever happen to Bitcoin.
2892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the bitcoin Dinosaurs? on: June 11, 2014, 04:36:00 AM
Dinosaurs are extinct and many of the 'old-time' Bitcoin users are still around, so I don't understand the comparison.
Probably because it's pants-on-head retarded...
2893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin about to be 51%ed??? on: June 10, 2014, 08:43:32 PM
Hardware mining is fail. Use NXT.
I'll CONSIDER investigating NXT when the first google result isn't this: http://www.wwe.com/shows/wwenxt

Until then, YOU are the fail, and nobody cares.

i don't know if that's quite enough.. the major ISPs already have a strong connection with lobbyists in washington.. and probably with the FCC as well.
Blockbuster video had strong connections with the rich and powerful too. So did the newspaper industry. So did the FAX industry. So did the Nazis, for that matter.

what did blockbuster need lobbied? and how strong was their connection? because i know one thing: ISPs have been lubing politicians for a long, long time now. and it's not just one, but 5 or more big ISPs that can throw tons of money at them. they have so much sway that they are now removing net neutrality laws, which gives them even more power.
For every political action there is an equal and opposite political reaction. Haven't you been paying attention? The backlash against this breach of trust has been ENORMOUS and non-stop.

We still have until September to stop those net-rigging rules from becoming laws of the land.

2896  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Bitcoin became the world (Reserve) currency on: June 10, 2014, 05:47:57 PM
the first step to become a reserve currency, is to stop  being measured and valued to the dollar.
This will never happen. What will happen, is people will flip the equation.

In the near future people will go from thinking about how many dollars a Bitcoin is worth, to thinking about what fraction of a Bitcoin a thousand dollars is worth.

When this shift in collective consciousness occurs, you'll know it.

Is the dollar sliding or bitcoin gaining?
Both. It's all relative.

Your perspective depends on whether you think primarily in terms of dollars or in terms of BTC. No matter how you look at it, though, the trend is clear.
2897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy (must read!) on: June 10, 2014, 05:43:47 PM
Google will come to our rescue.

the cost for installing fiber optic connections is currently too expensive for google to make any significant splash.
If the major ISPs get their way, you will find many wealthy people suddenly willing to throw massive funds at google to make cost a non-issue. I am one such person.
2898  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to get money anonymously? on: June 10, 2014, 05:42:17 PM
he probably wants money internationally from someone.. it's not that easy.
Use a trusted intermediary party to transfer the wealth. If you don't have a trusted 3rd party, you need to work on building a network of friends.
2899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Community at its Worst on: June 10, 2014, 05:39:18 PM
reddit is hardly an example of community, look what they did with Doge, they basically kicked moolah out with their aggressiveness and censorship.
Doge is a scam currency, just like the dollar.

It's good that schools got computers for the kids to learn on in the 90's, but you should have to pass an internet ethics course before being allowed to use the internet Wink. The conversation can deteriorate into what sounds like Halo or Call of Duty gaming chat rather quickly. It is frustrating.
There's a reason for that. It's no accident that Americans have stunted maturity.
2900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: June 10, 2014, 05:20:58 PM
Well I used to use them for silk road  Shocked

Lately I have heard that a lot of scams are going on in Silk Road 2.0. Hackers are controlling a lot of vendor accounts, having excellent feedback. They are conning the unsuspecting buyer by not shipping the items. These problems surfaced after the admins removed the escrow, and replaced it with multi-signature wallets.
There are other markets, you know. Shop around or pay the price.
