2901  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: La cripto lista gris de la CNMV on: November 25, 2021, 10:55:17 AM

2902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 25, 2021, 10:49:06 AM
It seems that there are no surprises currently on the basic performance of the team on the lead and those that are on the back of the cue. Bets on reasonable odds on any n of these are likely to yield good results, so there does not seem to be reason to go for mid-table as the risk is unlikely to match the benefit. Betting of Madrid, Real Socieda and Sevila sound like the right way of playing the current situation. Also, betting against Levante or Granada seems quite a reasonable strategy.
2903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: government's traditional laws can't handle Gambling+cryptos on: November 25, 2021, 10:33:10 AM
The regulatory framework for cryptos is a nightmare for many governments and the main reason for that is that cryptos were in the first place conceived to break the government monopoly and control over money. The fact that they find difficult to control crypto sites and crypto movements in general is just a confirmation of the success of the original vision and strategy. Gambling is just and example.

Also, legislation has always been quite slow on regards to newer technologies.
2904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting superstitions. on: November 25, 2021, 10:26:42 AM
Very interesting statistics. I have noticed that in games and in many other aspects of life in which people do not really control the results, or have very little control over them, they tend to have irrational beliefs around how their actions or sometimes their presence may actually affect the outcomes, for example a relative of mine was "convinced" that if he was watching his team's game and left for any reason (e.g. taking a piss)  the rivals would score and that if he watched a game, his team had better chances.
2905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Metaverse x Gambling on: November 25, 2021, 10:18:20 AM
I think is coming real soon. In fact unless the platforms that develop the metaverses actually ban users, it is only natural that games flow into the metaverses as well as competitions, and with that the need to make them "more interesting", so whether it is officially or by means of other creating overlays to circumvent the likely bans, betting is going to happen. Heck, this is even a business model that could be a new ground for start-ups.

For those who doubt, metaverses are already there, Second life, Roblox and even games - well known ones like Fortnite - are metaverses.
2906  Economy / Economics / Re: Recent advertisement for Visa - what a joke on: November 24, 2021, 02:54:41 PM
I saw the same add and thought exactly the same! It does not make any sense that a company that is clearly delivering most products for people who are middle to upper class are making such a claim as them being for everyone!  I do admit that it may be so in some countries, where even the not so well-to-do have cards and life may be impossible without them, but they are certainly not for everyone and certainly not for everyone in the world.

Visa is what it is and should not pretend being something else and making lame commercials will only burn their reputation across their customer scale.
2907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the US Govt. buys circulating Bitcoin Supply and $ is backed by $BTC ? on: November 23, 2021, 04:56:03 PM
Oh dear, the US already left the gold standard in Brenton Woods and I do not see any Government (other than Salvador) wanting to use a deflationary asset to back their own coins, as they would not be able to cover up their shit and win elections printing money with "quantitative easing". Now that I think of it, El Salvador is not backing its currency with bitcoin, jus making it legal tender.

In fact, using bitcoin as collateral is even worse for that purpose than using gold. It would make the dollar automatically deflationary and that has terrible implications for the economy beyond mere politics.

The great thing about bitcoin is that is already giving you the ability to opt-out. Individually, without having to ask "dad".

2908  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any change that protect crypto from fractional reserve style stuff? on: November 23, 2021, 01:08:45 PM
Yes, it is called education, common sense and incentives. Fractional reserve could be something like tether backed by USD Smiley

Seriously, good crypto should be limited and there is no way you are going to accept someone lending you bitcoin with a "bitcoin certificate". If you know your crypto bitcoin means bitcoin in your wallet address and with your own keys. There is no way you can borrow more than it exists if you have taken even the minimum required time to understand what you are doing.

2911  Local / Español (Spanish) / El Salvador - Bonos "volcan" - Ciudad Bitcoin y compra masiva de bitcoins. on: November 21, 2021, 09:42:06 PM
Otro post anterior sobre el tema

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5372439.msg58492000#msg58492000

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/11/21/el-salvador-to-build-first-bitcoin-city-backed-by-btc-bonds

2912  Economy / Economics / El Salvador develops further its bitcoin strategy on: November 21, 2021, 09:35:27 PM
El Salvador is putting to market a 1 Billion issuance of bonds with the objective of deploying an increased bitcoin infrastructure plus direct investments in bitcoin holdings. At least half to the proceedings from these "volcano bonds" are to be directly invested in purchasing bitcoin.

Bitcoin City is the flagship tokenised project of a tax free city funded by these 6.5% yielding bonds (currently in the CCC bond territory in my view - Trash debt AKA "High Yield").

2913  Economy / Economics / People tend not to move on: November 21, 2021, 01:27:00 AM

A recent research presented in the article above indicates that
Quote
most people don't move
, geographically speaking. It is curious how most people are (randomly?) born somewhere and they tend to look for the opportunities to make a living on that place, do not go too far or think that they actually enjoy the freedom of deciding to go to anywhere else in the world unless they have serious pressing motivation (hunger, crime,...).

Reading this, I could not help but think that people also "don't move" in monetary terms. They are born in a certain region and they do not think that their money might very well better in some other form (e.g. bitcoin).
2914  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we in a bear trap? on: November 20, 2021, 06:03:10 PM
The problem in general is that we are 18th century soldiers launching cavalry attacks and cannon fire in a market that is supposed to be working to match offer and demand, but in the current context there are three guys out there that have aircraft carriers, cruise missiles and armed spaceships. These actors are the Federal reserve, the European Central bank and, to a point, the central bank of China.

What I mean by this is that prices as of now, since they are measured in fiat, are basically following the monetary policy.

Cuarto Milenio?

Grin

2917  Economy / Economics / Re: A way to make money online? on: November 18, 2021, 10:42:35 PM
While most people would tell you about becoming a youtuber or instagram influencer or similar, I think that it is much better to think to a smaller scale and have a go at something that can actually get the cash flowing earlier. An example would be to teach other to do web development or act as advisor for usability, SEM o SEO, etc. Most people have a sets of skills that they can teach when they need some extra and the internet does offer possibilities for these.
2918  Economy / Economics / Re: Wisdom in laying down on: November 18, 2021, 10:39:53 PM
Usually the Communist system do not allow for mass protest and public gatherings to discuss the government policy or to work against it. The government decision is regarded as good for the people and that is why you have lesser revolts in such continent unlike you see in capitalist economies. Except if the communist government of the Chinese begin to reduce the grip they have on the citizen and start listening. You have not wondered why the series of ban news on cryptocurrency from China leading the crusade against cryptocurrency while some countries have started to adopt bitcoin as payment system already.
I remember the last "mass protest" in china, and we all know how it ended. Tiananmen Square protests resulted with as much as 10k dead by some calculations, however their "official" numbers are 300, it depends if you want to believe to the government telling how many of its people they claim to kill... that alone is just disgusting.

So, I doubt that underpaid or underemployed nation could do absolutely nothing about it at all, they will starve the death like they did back in the day and that's all they could do, literally die because of management and have to accept that fact because otherwise instead of starving to death they will be shot to death. This is why I believe China will not grow as much as people imagine they would, everyone thinks they will become world power but I doubt that they will become anything remotely like that at all.

It is not as much about the underemployment of the low wages, the movement speaks more of a number of reasons that lead them to believe that it may be worth to reduce the speed of their lives. Among other, it is the party's pressure to be "model citizens" and the level of surveillance that is perceived around backing things such as brand bans or initiatives that are favoured by the government. I think that this is an indicator that true harmony, peace and prosperity cannot be imposed.
2919  Economy / Economics / Re: what is are you list of crypto or tech/non crypto stuffs that we could earn from on: November 18, 2021, 10:37:00 PM
Meta from Facebook is still just a vague promise of a company that is aware that has to disrupt itself to become something not just larger, but to actually have any meaningful future. Execution is going to be critical on any new endeavour and it may just fail big scale as other projects.

However, should meta start to realise its potential, there is an immense source of potential jobs and sales opportunities. It may happen that all the already existing shops have to make a go for the new metaverse or be obsolete, just as now they cannot do without online sales.
2920  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it true that Mt Gox funds are going to get released? on: November 18, 2021, 10:30:05 PM
I recently heard a guy speaking about his investing habits and saying that it is not as much about the speed of the car but rather about the direction of travel and the highway you are taking. MtGox funds freed will have an inpact for sure. Most people owning that money are by today's standards uber rich as they have been involuntarely holding it for a very long time. My take is that they will liquidate big. Yet the car is still driving in the same direction.
