I got an email from them asking if I was going to pay for my order.....

yes after a little fiddle i see what you mean.... once again i flashed the 19b firmware with max fans on a btach 1..... straight off the blue fan starts to struggle, so i unscrewed the back screws then lifted up the the top a little and this seems to get the blue fan spinning again at a nice speed........ placing the bots upside down on the sides keeps te gap open at a a bolts height around.....

will test it more tomorrow when i get PSU upgrades.... no point in taking it to bits tonight

finding these in the EU is proving to be a struggle.... ordering from aamzon.com will be 20-30days delivery Sad

The problem is that there is too much pressure inside the unit.

The two holes in the back of the unit are not adequate to move the increased cfm of air being moved.

A quick fix would be to remove the power supply from inside the Avalon and having placed on top or beside of the unit.

This will permit for more CFM of air to be pushed out the back and enabling the blue fan to operate at 2300 rpm's

It may not solve the display problem however it will solve the underlying issue.

You can tell that your "Blue" fan is not spinning at its max speed when the temp sensor on the controller reports high temps of 28+

so the blue fan only opperates at 2300 rpm's? is this it's max? so replacing with a 3000rpm will be good? and better for CFM when black fans are on 4000RPM?

the 860w not 860i is 71.6A

Rail   3.3V   5V   12V   5VSB   -12V
Max. Power   25A   25A   71.6A   3A   0.6A
125W   859.2W   15W   6W
Total Max. Power   860W

2953  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 27, 2013, 05:55:13 PM

maybe is something wrong with my controller board , reverted to 519b with keep setting and it hash at 375 now with about ~0.6%hw error
at 9m 12s  59440.30

that hashrate is not good for 375.....

I have been running 340mhz on my batch two now for several days and it has been nothing but stable above 81gh/s

I guess i won't be upgrading any with a 4th module! thanks for the advice

any links for where i can get a good server grade 120mm x 38mm 3600rpm fan in the EU?

2956  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 27, 2013, 04:56:01 PM
maybe this is fine also:
http://geizhals.eu/scythe-ultra-kaze-3000-dfs123812h-3000-a288602.html?plz=&t=v&va=b&vl=de&v=e#filterform

Scythe says nothing about the pressure the fans generate:(
I think this is important
therefore a 38mm could perform better then the 25mm
looking at the airflow candoos recommendation is definitely fine

I have used those in the past. They pull 0.6a instead of 1.3a great if you are planning on keeping power costs down but in this situation that is not an issue Smiley

so does that mean these are good or bad?
2957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 27, 2013, 04:20:56 PM
OK so no 4 module over clock with this PSU

just 3 module over clock

thanks

Other Avalon users have noticed batch 1 "Blue" fans are unable to cope with the "black" higher CFM fans when the system fan speeds are running at 100% Smiley

The increased CFM slows down the "Blue" fan due to the increase air pressure inside the Avalon.
O
I have ordered Minebea - Fan,5w190 Nmb 4715kl-04w-b56 12vdc 1.30a 120x38mm,cn-05x892 replacement fans.

Once a 4th module is installed  I plan on using a Corsair AX1200i and have it located outside the Avalon case to improve the CFM airflow out of the unit.

I may migrate 1 module from Avalon unit #445 and put it into Avalon Unit #114 in order to test its performance.

However I will wait on this until next week some time.

will this do?

I would grab a 12 volt fan.  Google for scythe 5400 .. there you go

can't find a 120mm x 38mm only 120mm x 25mm.......
