2941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 21, 2013, 03:50:00 AM
Zinodaur and LikeHero are my 2 favorites!

Leaning more to LikeHero's design.

THank you!!! It is impossible for me to give everyone what they want if they don't speak their mind and tell me their opinions of the designs. So, thank you very much for your opinion.  Smiley

Guess I'll post this here too, I need opinions!

As stated earlier, I have delayed production a little bit so that I could get a better design. I have had 4 designers design something for me. I know which one I like the best, but I am interested in hearing your opinions.

2944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coblee will be at Bitcoin 2013 conference! on: May 21, 2013, 01:38:25 AM
It was nice meeting you Charles. I am certainly excited for the future of Bitcoin and Litecoin. There are so many things happening, I wish I could jump in a time machine and fast forward a couple years from now. I imagine the Bitcoin/Litecoin infrastructure will be so much more developed... it's going to be crazy- but awesome.
2945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZeroCoin Whitepaper Discussion (is it the first truly innovative ALT coin????) on: May 20, 2013, 03:32:42 AM
Bump- the ZeroCoin speech was IMO one of the most interesting speeches at the bitcoin conference. There was a large showing for this speech, hinting at there being a lot of support for it. Gavin, the main core dev for Bitcoin, even mentioned it during his state of the union speech. He expressed his support for the project.

Also, to those worrying about governments breaking down due to not being able to collect taxes, this is silly. All ZeroCoin does is make bitcoin transactions anonymous. The exit and entry points when converting to FIAT will be controlled and regulated just like Bitcoin.

This is going to be huge, the only problem is it will take a long time to implement it. ZeroCoin is heavily cryptographic, much more so than Bitcoin, so there is a lot of challenging programming to be done. Also, the core Bitcoin code must be altered as well.
2946  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: stuff heard at bitcoin2013 on: May 20, 2013, 02:04:04 AM
I was also there at the conference.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Yifu stated they can produce about 50 Avalons a day once their new line is running and calibrated.
2947  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: stuff heard at bitcoin2013 on: May 20, 2013, 02:00:39 AM
Being that using bitcoins is actually illegal in china, its a valid concern.

Proof?
2948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Its not ridiculous enough yet I say! on: May 19, 2013, 08:20:13 PM

Cheers,

Great. We need more exchanges, good work!
2950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long can BTC-E Stay in Business as a black market company? on: May 18, 2013, 10:56:07 AM
Ps: I first expressed these concerns about a month ago even before Mt Gox got served.

I received several Paypal payments from BTCe and it was obvious they were breaking in the law at the time. Not only did the PayPal payments come from random individuals and shell companies, but they also ask for no over indintification of your identity.

They are blatantly FINcen non compliant.
2951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long can BTC-E Stay in Business as a black market company? on: May 18, 2013, 10:48:43 AM
Just checked the withdraw options and it seems paypal's there, skrill also. Did anyone use those, do they actually work? If they do, very nice, gg btc-e  Cool

You are correct. I don't care what country they are based in, if they offer their services to US customers in the form of X crypto currency to FIAT and FIAT to x crypto currency, then they will get shut down if they are not FINcen compliant.

Its not a matter of if, but its a matter of when. Anyone that leaves any FIAT or crypto on btc-e is gambling. The Us government WILL, not IF, shut them down. Sorry if you have a lot of money on there when that happens. The domain will get seized and any FIAT bank accounts will be frozen.

Again, it is no t a matter of if, but when it will happen.
2952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What denomination of physical Litecoins would you like to buy? on: May 17, 2013, 07:57:56 PM
1 LTC coins out of 1oz silver and sell them for like 20 LTC. I'd probably buy some of those.
I like that idea but not for 1ltc at least for 10ltc/coin
with current spot price of silver of 22.5$/oz let's say you got them at 24$ and 3$/ltc = 8ltc for silver + 10 ltc + 3-5ltc

I would be ready to pay between 21-26ltc for a 10ltc-1ozSilver coin with current market condition for silver and ltc

My budget is tight on this first round of coins. I am planning on having coins made out of Silver, but unfortunately it's not possible the first batch. Whether or not this actually happens somewhat hinges on the success of my first batch of coins.
2953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What denomination of physical Litecoins would you like to buy? on: May 17, 2013, 07:51:37 PM
Not only do I vote for 25, BUT if you are intending on selling physical items I urge you to accept CC/Bank/PayPal. Doing so would widen the reach quite a lot and allow new 'adopters' to the Litecoin market (not everyone is comfortable or knowledgeable enough to mine/purchase coins on exchanges).

Unfortunately to accept CC/Bank/Paypal, I would need to comply by FINcen guidelines and register as a money handler. This is very expensive.. I have heard it costs 100s of thousands of dollars to set this up, and unfortunately I don't have that kind of money.

If I could do it legally, I would love to. But, in this current state of government awareness of Bitcoin/crypto currencies, I am not comfortable breaking the law just to sell some coins. All transactions will be done via crypto currencies.
2954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What denomination of physical Litecoins would you like to buy? on: May 17, 2013, 07:48:51 PM
Where is the "None, because this idea is fucking stupid" option?

Hi, although you may think this is stupid, there are others that feel differently.

Some people like to hold their money in their hands. Sure, they could just print a paper wallet, but you have to admit this is much neater than a regular old paper wallet. Also, it is more secure than a regular paper wallet because the private key will be hidden, so you can show it off you your friends and family.  Smiley

It is meant as somewhat of a novelty for enthusiasts, or to introduce people to Litecoins that wouldn't be comfortable keeping an online wallet due to security reasons or the lack of computer savviness.
2955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What denomination of physical Litecoins would you like to buy? on: May 17, 2013, 07:33:03 PM
Hi guys,

I decided to hold off on production to get a better design to make these more unique and special. I have had about 4 graphic designers from the forums make a design. Not everyone has turned in their completed designs, so I am holding off of any announcement until then.

Everything is lined up with the hologram manufacturer and the coin minting company once I have a final design. I have gone through the necessary steps for pre-production including background checks, etc., for the hologram manufacturer. Both manufacturing companies are simply waiting on word from me to give them a final design. I expect to enter production next week.

If any of you are at the Bitcoin conference, PM me and I'll give you my phone number. We can meetup and I'll let you be one of the first to see the designs.  Smiley

Cheers,

Ch

2957  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2013 (San Jose) Update and Friday pre-meetup on: May 17, 2013, 07:21:20 PM
My flight doesn't get in until 12AM tonight.

If there are some people closing down a bar in the convention area, I will definitely come for a few beers before closing time.

I don't have Twitter or Facebook or anything because I dig my privacy (one of the reasons why I love Bitcoin  Wink).

So post here and let me know where the party's at.  Smiley

Cheers,

Ch

Congrats guys! Can't wait for batch 3!  Smiley
2959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins are the LEAST anonymous currency ever created on: May 15, 2013, 11:41:47 PM
No, Ripples are even less anonymous.

Anyhow, there are proposals to layer anonymity on top of bitcoin, for those who really need it. See:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Zerocoin

If you read the actual Zerocoin paper, you realize how many fundamental changes it requires to the Bitcoin protocol/process. It's not a layer on top of Bitcoin so much as a fundamental rethinking about BTC semantics. And it only works when a large swath of miners actually use it (you can't just use Zerocoin on your own account and expect it to protect you). This will be a long, slow process.

http://spar.isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdf

I really hope this is implemented into Bitcoin at some point.

It is a wonderful idea, I bet Satoshi would have loved it.
2960  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: U.S. residents no more Dwolla + MtGox now what? on: May 15, 2013, 11:10:02 PM
BTC-e is in the Republic of Bulgaria so I'm pretty sure they don't give a shit what the US gov does. LOL

BTC-e is susceptible to having the same fate that Mt. Gox had. As long as they continue to service US customers without following FINcen, it is not a matter of IF the US government will shut them down, it is a matter of WHEN the US government will shut them down.

The US government can freeze assets held all over the globe, there are very few countries' bank accounts they do not have the ability to seize, and I guarantee you Russia is not one of those countries.
