Sorry I haven't update this in a while. I have honestly been quite busy. There is another coin I'd like to add to the list- Decrits. But honestly it's taking me a while to wrap my head around it to summarize it, again because I don't have a lot of time. I will look into the other projects you guys mentioned. I honestly did not realize anyone ever responded to this thread. When I first posted it nobody posted for like 6 days and I kind of wrote it off. I'm happy to see there are some like minded individuals among the sea of ALTcoiners.

This evening I did notice that progress has been made on GitHub with the ZeroCoin project (I updated the OP).
I am not sure of the status of NetCoin. I promise to spend more time on this thread in the near future and add new projects.

Cheers,

CH

Has anyone tried 375mhz air cooled?

I've been running at over 24 hours stable at 350mhz (105Gh-120Gh), and I'm getting that itch to try and bump it up a little more. I'm not sure if Avalon changed something to make it more stable overclocked or not and wondering you batch 1/2 guys experience with pushing over 350mhz.
2585  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 02, 2013, 02:15:18 AM
um... 0.175?Huh?

500 please??

sorry noitev, you weren't in the original group buy, so i can't offer this to you. Sad

How can some suppliers/group buys give a price of .1 BTC, when some say that "Friedcat hasn't confirmed this with them or made an announcement about it" (or something along those lines.) Are these other group buy operators charging a .35-.45 mark up, or is FriedCat only giving this deal to certain suppliers?

It kind of sucks.. I ordered a lot of them from 2 people that are not offering the .1 BTC price.

Hi everyone,

There doesn't seem to be enough interest in this. Also, I am pretty busy with my first group buy that arrived Tuesday. I think I will just buy one or two of the products mentioned in the OP myself after a couple paychecks.

Thanks for your time,

CH

I dont get how some people are having trouble running at 300mhz stable. I have all 7 of mine running at 350mhz, stable for more than 24 hours now.

There must be some issue with your machine. Inspect it closely, make sure everything is plugged in, etc.

If the very thing is plugged in correctly, try flashing the firmware to ckolivas' alternative firmware

I have received my Avalon3, so no way of refunding.
I'm happy that I have an ASIC, so I'll stick with it. I'm only a little disappointed that maybe it will not make the investment, but it's a risk I took when I ordered Smiley
I'll focus on make it work stable at at least 300MHz (now it's not).

You can't get 300mhz stable Huh

Are you having temperature problems?

I've been running at 325mhz and 350mhz pretty stable. Been running at 350mhz for about 11 hours stable on 7 machines.
2590  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: None of the Avalon Batch #3 w/o PSU has been shipped on: August 01, 2013, 01:23:28 PM
Thanks.
But for 4 module machine, running at 350Mhz is definitely over the capacity of 850W PSU. It has risk to damage your PSU or even cause disasters. Suggest to change to PSU no less than 1kW.

You're probably right. I am fully expecting to have to replace a PSU or two. Right now they seem to be doing OK though. I need to get a kill-a-watt to measure how much power they're pulling. I seriously hope nothing goes too terribly wrong, I have my fingers crossed.

Right now I'm getting about 770 Gh with 7 four modules at 350mhz. The extra 60-80 Gh I get by OCing is just too good to pass up IMO. They have been running stable for about 11 hours now.
2591  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: List of Avalon ASIC batch 3 orders on: August 01, 2013, 01:16:38 PM
Thanks all. Updated most of the posts. I am not entering any completely new entries. Will just update if anyone posts receipt from the list.

Thanks for your work maintaining this list!

I received all of my orders on Tuesday, so you can cross me off the list!

Thanks again!
2592  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: None of the Avalon Batch #3 w/o PSU has been shipped on: August 01, 2013, 01:13:17 PM
I had a PSU go out today on one of the seven Avalons.

I wanted to give you non PSU guys a heads up, I tried cramming a 1250w power supply in there and it wouldnt fit. Luckily I had a 1050w PSU aswell that just barely fit. Even with that I was not able to put the cover back on.

You might want to get less than a 1050w PSU.. they ship with 850w PSUs that fit fine. I imagine anything from 850w-950w would fit, with the cover on. But pay attention to the dimensions of the PSU you order.. it may not fit.  Sad

Can you just keep the larger PSU outside and feed the cables through the back port where the PSU normally screws in?  I'd rather have the larger PSU and open air space inside than risk blowing an 850 watt PSU.  It's too bad they are skimping on power, knowing we will all be overclocking to try and make up for lost profits due to delays.

Good idea! I will probably try this soon. I know.. I'm not happy they skimped on PSUs either. But, honestly it was probably my fault it burnt out. I needed to install an air intake to the A/C condensor and the room was overheating by a lot. The other 6 four module machines are running fine at 350mhz with the 850w PSU Avalon provided.

Wayne: I'll try to get a measurement later this evening for ya. Smiley

OK, bro. Just keep a detail log and monitor closely.

I still find it amazing you believe someone can remotely affect hardware with "mojo".
I'm gonna research what exactly is a mojo.
I was mostly just kidding when I was talking about mojo...

As they say... sarcasm is hard to tell over the internet.

Which PDUs are those Coinhorder? I have been looking for something similar.

It's an APC AP9571

It can be had on Ebay used for as low as $20

It's definitely one of the most affordable PDUs around, and I've been using them for about a year now with no problems.

I can see where you LTC coin project money went to with the 7 avalons lolz  Cheesy

No, I only own a small percentage of them. I bought them in a group buy.

Ps: They seem to be doing fine.

Ok.. whatever.

I wonder why I post pics on here sometimes. Everyone has to critique every little thing about you setup. Did I say it was the best way to do it or perfect or the best? No.

However, I like to see pictures of farms and Avalons, but maybe you guys don't. I am sorry for posting pictures.. maybe you're just grumpy your batch 3 isn't in yet. I sympathize with you, I'm sure it will be headed your way soon.
2598  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: August 01, 2013, 05:46:21 AM
I call dibs on the first one to break down, one or three of the modules.....seriously though, why not vent the hot outside?

Don't send bad mojo my way!

I've worked really hard the past couple days cutting two 18" holes for the AC exhaust and AC compressor air intake manifold, putting up insulation, etc.

Like I said.. I'm in Texas and it gets 100+ degrees here during the day. I need air conditioning for 7 Avalons in a 10x10 room, they would fry up in a second with only exhaust fans. I've tried it with GPUs, infact I have some inline fans sitting around my house not being used because they did not cool my GPU farm well enough. They are quality Vortex inline fans too.
2599  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can KNCMiner really deliver 28 nanometers? on: August 01, 2013, 05:40:35 AM
I will be really surprised if KNC keeps their timeline.

They are the next BFL. You heard it here first.  Wink

If it makes you feel any better, Avalon is the first new BFL anyways (delays, customer service, etc.).

Hi, I posted these in the pictures thread, I thought some of you might be interested in them aswell.

It was a long, but happy day now that I've received our Avalons!

Avalon close up

I dont own any of these AVALON units but wouldn't it be better to space the units out instead of stacking them on each other? Would this not reduce the heat that gets collected while they are running?

Just a thought.
Hi smoothie Smiley

Avalon made them to be stacked- as Yifu has confirmed/mentioned himself on these forums. Perhaps if the room I have them in was cooler, then they might run cooler spread out and not stacked. However, I have 65 degree air blowing directly in the air intake, and if I spread them out I'd have to remake my air ducts. The rest of the room is about 75-85 degrees, so I need that cold air to blow directly into them. They are quite cool to the touch.

I will probably put an air manifold onto the air ducts and connect them directly to the Avalons soon to try to push them to 375mhz, they are OCed to 350mh right now. Running average of 109 Gh.. Lowest 105 Gh, Highest 115 Gh. The highest core temp is 70c and Yifu said he ran them up to 85c for a long time and it never crashed/burned up. Hopefully they are safe.  Grin
