2941  Other / Meta / Re: The core of Bitcointalk's spam problem on: June 20, 2018, 05:13:13 PM
Solutions?

- One could restrict campaigns, e.g. only allow campaigns that pay out in Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency that has an independent blockchain and is not an ICO token.
- Stricter control of Bounty managers.

Both solutions would require additional efforts by the forum staff.
I think the 2nd option is a more realistic solution in the forum. The kind of payment is not the problem as even though it literally cause them nothing it doesn't mean that the developers are the ones who are picking the campaign participants, except if they have their own bounty manager. The 2nd approach is a better one as bounty managers who are allowed and trusted by the forum can successfully screen the campaign participants as well as monitor their status weekly by doing so they can remove and even put the members on a blacklist if they started spamming in the middle of the campaign. By having a trusted bounty manager this developers who are paying ICOs must hire them as they are the only ones allowed to create a bounty campaign in BCT.
2942  Economy / Speculation / Re: South Korean exchange hacks causing Bitcoin price drops, but less consequential. on: June 20, 2018, 08:18:36 AM
these types of change don't really have to have any reasons they are just market fluctuations. you blink and 2% change happens, that is just how the market is.

This is simply wrong. Look at the market for yourself. I am talking about SUDDEN jumps. And in the past 8 days, there have only been 3 sudden jumps. Two drops and one surge. And each jump had a specific news event tied to it. Sure it increases and decreases around 3% over an hour or so, but it simply NEVER jumps more than 1.5% within 20 minutes without a specific event. That's just not how any market works. Of course that event could be a whale or group of people dumping/pumping all at once creating a bear/bull run, but nevertheless sudden movements are always triggered by a singular event

I was flabbergasted to see it rise 4% in 20 minutes, but lo and behold within hours there were news articles announcing the approval of the cash app, explaining the surge. I don't ever expect any event and assume it's due to general volatility, but three strikes and you're out. Only the willfully ignorant would ignore such indicators.
I am with Pursuer on this one. A 2-3% change cannot be linked to any kind of news. Those price changes literally happens everyday on all cryptocurrencies. And I don't blame you for believing in such thing as all the famous but unreliable news providers are feeding our brains with news that they themselves are connecting to have relations with the price changes of Bitcoin. It makes them have a juicy article to spread in the web thus giving them more traffic for their website.
2943  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How convert my myetherwallet.com's token(ncash) to BTC on: June 20, 2018, 07:09:33 AM
Or if you don't want to create a cryptocurrency exchange account you can try to offer your ncash for BTC in the Marketplace of the forum under the Currency Exchange childboard. The catch is you will need an escrow regarding your transaction as you are an untrusted member here in the forum which you are also a newbie, only a few members will try to deal with you.
2944  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustadice – Dilution fee lowered to 1% on: June 20, 2018, 06:10:57 AM
one thing i have noticed is i never go to bustadice anymore.

i blame the no faucet thing:)

Guess they don't miss you if faucet was the only reason for you going there Tongue

well i only play at sites with faucets. don't know why. maybe it's the jew in me.

but i do gamble $50-$100 everyday for the last five years ar dice sites
That is the point that bustadice is trying to make, by eliminating the faucet they have also eliminated players like you who are only there for the free stuff. And people who are only there just to play with the faucet are not really customers of their gambling site, they won't really lose anything as you are just gambling their own money. And if you are really using your own money why are you still looking for faucets if they are included or not in a site? It is like looking for a feature you won't even be using.
2945  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2018-06-15 President Trump’s former Chief Strategist to start new cryptocurrency on: June 19, 2018, 07:02:04 PM
I am not going to judge him for now, and I will save my judgement until I see his project especially his whitepaper. But what is up with known people lately? They are creating their own cryptocurrency without any kind of unique vision. I only think that they are just joining the party in order to fund themselves from the sale of their cryptocurrency which is a too obvious move. They are like taking advantage of a non-strict market as they are eager to launch their own cryptocurrency without really any kind of plan.
2946  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit buyer, abusing merit system on: June 19, 2018, 06:08:15 PM
1 merit = 0.05 ETH
3 merit = 0.15 ETH
They can't be seriously paying $25 per Merit, right? I'd say it's much more likely to be a scam.
At $25 per Merit, a Member account is valued $250, and a Legendary at $25000. It just doesn't make any sense.

Update: these numbers would mean I gave away approximately $10k worth of Merit Cheesy
Maybe it is there way of attracting members into biting their deal, the more attractive the price the more chances they will find a member willing to be fooled by the offer. And of course the twist is at the end is there is no money involve, what will just happen is you just have given your merits freely and there is nothing you can do about it as you cannot report that a scam has took place because selling your merits is not allowed in the first place. And judging by the difference of its BCT username and his Telegram Username I think the merits to be bought is intended for a different account.
2947  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: All ICOs are classified as "security" in USA - SEC chairman Jay Clayton on: June 19, 2018, 04:51:51 PM
I'm confused, because I just found a more recent statement from an SEC representative that not all ICOs are securities:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/14/bitcoin-and-ethereum-are-not-securities-but-some-cryptocurrencies-may-be-sec-official-says.html

I imagine this must be frustrating for the few teams out there who are planning to launch a legitimate ICO lol. I mean, if you're going to regulate it anyway, you may as well regulate it in such a way that compliance is as easy and clear-cut as possible.
Statements or opinions should not always be taken as a final decision even if they come from the head of the SEC itself it doesn't make it in anyway binding, Of course the views of one political chair will be different from the legislative assembly which is more powerful as they can create laws with regards to regulation of ICOs. The previous statement is to vague as generalizing that all ICOs must be classified as a security token because of the fact that they are raising funds with their sale is not a justifiable reasoning, ICOs in the first place are like IPOs they are be offered in order to raise funds by way of the sale of their tokens.
2948  Other / Meta / Re: AVATAR playing hide and seek on: June 19, 2018, 02:45:19 PM
Have the same problem during my early days, it turns out that I am worried for nothing. As soon as you have changed/updated your avatar other users will instantly see your new updated avatar except for you, I don't know the main issue about it but if you try logging out your account and visiting a thread that you have a post on it as a guest then you will see that you are wearing a new avatar. This are just one of the minor problems that I don't think needs to give a big attention about as it doesn't affect you in anyway.
2949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is China giving importance to Blockchain? on: June 19, 2018, 10:24:16 AM
One of the root causes why the Chinese want to take advantage of Blockchain technology is of course money. Chinese are what I say a natural born businessmen and they have an eye for oppprtunity. Just take a look at how some local Chinese companies are creating their own version of the products seen in Kickstarter websites. This is what they are also doing with Blockchain as they know that this has a potential to give them a lot of money in the future.
2950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are bounties and Airdrops worth it? on: June 19, 2018, 07:55:20 AM
Worth it in terms of what? You must provide a little more information on the other things you are doing in order to consider if air drops are worth it. Now if you are just a young man without a job and has nothing to do in the internet then I can consider bounty campaign participations are worth it as it gives you a little more money for practically doing nothing. But if you are thinking of leaving your job for bounty campaign hunting then you are thinking the wrong way. Most airdrops being given are worthless and leaving a secured and permanent job for claiming freebies is not a good sacrifice.
2951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 08:50:31 PM
Yeah, first half was 50/50 but Belgium deserved the goals in the second half.

Can anyone get on to the piece of shit website? My predictions aren't loading up at all and the leaderboard shows but doesn't load when I click on it. It's better have logged my scores. Sometimes I check back and there's a couple that haven't. Missed out on a lot of the bonus questions because of the site never loading. Still can't see where that 'joker' bonus option is either.
Having some kind of problem as well. Account Log-in was successful but if your tried to load the prediction page it will be stuck in  a boot loop saying "synchronizing your account" but after several seconds it will automatically log off. There are also delays with the points being included with the total match points gained. I recently predicted the right score with the match between Belgium and Panama yet my scores aren't updated.
2952  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-18] Bitcoin Could Break the Internet, Central Bank Overseer Says on: June 18, 2018, 07:59:27 PM
I am beginning to think that finding a good news source seems to be limited at this point. It's a shame to see even mainstream news media doing this kind of tactic when it comes to cryptocurrency related news. I just thought that misleading headlines are only seen on unreliable news provider, but seeing Bloomberg itself create such headline is a shameful and embarrassing thing to see, for one they are a reputable website meaning they have more viewers compared to other click bait news providers. I just thought that it won't be their way for this kind of news industry, creating a conclusion of a quote for a headline seems to be not right in anyway. Even if they added some kind of (worthless) analysis it doesn't even connect to their headline given to the article.
2953  Economy / Economics / Re: How much money and bitcoins do you need to influence the price? on: June 18, 2018, 05:38:37 PM
Hard to give a exact number on it but I remembered that in a few occasions if someone or some group sold over or around 10,000 BTC (which is worth 67,685,650.00$ now) in one exchange in just less than an hour it could affect the price tremendously lets say about 7-10% in day change, the influence of that quantity of Bitcoin being sold will not only influence the traders in that exchange to sell their cryptocurrencies but will also influence other cryptocurrency exchanges as traders tend to use more than one exchange. Not to mention that other traders also observe other exchanges when it comes to their price action especially to the cryptocurrencies they are watching.
2954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin wallet help on: June 18, 2018, 04:24:13 PM
Chances are this might be another person who have obtained a private key of another person and he just shared it online without him knowing what will happen. From what I know most wallet providers that will show you wallet's private keys/ or pass phrases will warn you first or will give you a warning about sharing this sensitive info online. The one who posted the OP might have obtained someone's seed and they want to access his/her wallet, which he probably failed in doing so. But if not listen to what others have said, your question has more than a dozen of answers in Google which most of them are helpful to your simple problem.
2955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 12:16:45 PM
Damn!!! My Predictions are way off compared to the real match results. Come on Sweden at least win this match. Also have 4 remaining games for Matchday 1 to see if I can still catch up with you guys. My points compared to the 1st place which is Joca97 is almost 900 points hahaha. I'll will also try to do better predictions on the 2nd round of matches. Never expected such outcomes will happen from this teams especially Mexico beating Germany.
2956  Other / Meta / Re: SCAM TOPICS AND PAID SHILLS. on: June 18, 2018, 11:26:00 AM
I think LoyceV has made a solution for this problem and he talk about it in his thread. He talked about not counting the latest post of low ranking members (Jr. Members- Newbies) to bump a thread to the top of the first page. But LoyceV only suggested that to low ranking members which are Jr. Members and below are part of this bump service I didn't know until now that there are now Full members part of the bumping service, maybe they are preparing for the possibility of that being applied in the forum, but from that point I see that the cleanup will be easy as there will be less members to watch out too.
2957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to identify etc address. on: June 17, 2018, 04:08:29 PM
I don't think we have any way of telling which address belongs to what wallet. Simply for the reason of that there are no particular set of combinations of letters and numbers being linked to a wallet provider, whether you have created a Bitcoin wallet on Coinbase or Electrum you won't be able to differentiate the two addresses whether it came from Coinbase or in Electrum. It is not like they are giving us a distinct Vanity Address which we can link to their wallet. Also what is the reason why you need to link a wallet address in the first place? Because I haven't seen any use for doing so.
2958  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-14]With the Bitcoin Price Falling, Tim Draper Assures It Will Go Up to on: June 15, 2018, 01:39:14 AM
I like how he rolled out his 4 year plan about Bitcoin but I don't think that is enough as he only do it as a hodler. Which means that he won't be selling until his target is reach. It will be more efficient with his money if he tried to buy and sell the highs and lows of Bitcoin just like what other traders are doing. Also just giving his words like that is not enough as he hardly backed it up with facts to support his 250,000$ price target.
2959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 NBA Season on: June 15, 2018, 01:05:40 AM
Player Option
A player option grants the player the power to decide whether to stay for another year or become a completely unrestricted free agent. In either case (team option or player option) if the option is refused, the player is completely unrestricted and free to sign with any team.
I see thanks for the link, this is very informative. I see that most of the superstars are on PO which allows them to choose to stay or go from their current teams.

Oh, Carmelo Anthony is in ETO (Early termination option).

Lol at Carmelo Anthony, he is just lucky that OKC did pick him up but we all know that he is no longer the scorer (he is more of a isolation player). And he didn't contribute to the cause of OKC so at least have a good showing in the West.

As for Golden State players who are in that list, I'm sure that they are willing to get a pay cut just to stay with the team and make another championship run like KD and Thompson and Green.
He may look like that he didn't contribute much but how can you say that he didn't did his best? He was actually the 3rd option in the team as right after Russell Westbrook and Paul George so I can say that what he did is enough for the team. And he maybe is not yet comfortable with his role being the 3rd option as he was actually the main scorer for New York for a long time amd moving from first to third is a pretty big leap.
2960  Economy / Economics / Re: Is President Trump good or bad for the economy? on: June 14, 2018, 07:23:59 PM
How can you relate a price movement of a specific stock of a company to only him? I mean its main factor for its price movement is obviously coming from the performance of the company itself, simply giving President Trump the credit for others work is really not a good idea. The decreasing unemployment rate can be split up to two, one is that a lot of Government Projects are providing jobs to its citizens and the other one is companies are expanding therefore they are hiring more employees, the former is the one Trump can take credit for as he is the one providing the jobs. But if its not the case then Trump don't deserve to have credit from the improved unemployment rate.
