Please post bugs as github issues.

BTW, there is an extensive API which you guys may be interested in, eg. https://www.cryptos-currencies.com/api/posts/QNgQeVnFT5S1l6LLTZqsYg

Shall we report every single issue as a separate report or like DdmrDdmr has done, one issue report with a list of everything he found out til now?
Posting a list will save us a lot of time but creating a post for every issue will be easier for the devs I guess.
2962  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature request] Chat box in bitcointalk on: March 02, 2019, 04:34:22 PM
I don't know if it is much relevant to this case but at the moment some of us are conducting a tests of the new forum software.

Hope this will kick off the transition to Epochtalk. So I think those kind of request should be pointed to the new software.
2963  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: March 02, 2019, 04:28:26 PM
SMF is better than epochtalk or I am in love with SMF or just because I am used to using SMF.

Epochtalk is not optimized yet, but I think it's much better than the SMF. I like also the old style of this forum but as everything is as advancing and developing its about time the forum to do the same.

There are some aspects of Epochtalk which I don't like,
for example there are no more numerical user IDs but I guess these things can be changed/fixed later if needed.
2964  Other / New forum software / Re: Cryptos-Currencies.Com : First forum using Epochtalk on: March 02, 2019, 02:38:56 AM
I think the final bug report we can post on GitHub so the developers can fix them.
Of course big part of them are probably some settings in the admin panel and actually they are not really bugs.
2965  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: March 01, 2019, 01:34:52 PM
The main statistics page is outdated for a one or two days now. Theymos has passed the 4000 earned merit one or two days ago but on the site is still with 3962. The parsing circle around the logo is rolling tho...

Sorry for the delay in putting the forum onto the CryptoHints.com domain. I gave JackG a half setup VPS to experiment with. I'm thinking of putting Virtualmin on the server to simplify the maintenance, and maybe expand the project in the future. If anybody has used this, then I'd be grateful for some tips or hints for the installation and setup.

If you see the post above yours it's  lulucrypto who made a fresh installation of the Epochtalk, and there is where I played a little with it.
I guess he will cooperate if you face any problems during the installation. I will gladly join the testing if you don't mind Wink
2968  Economy / Reputation / Re: Community opinion on Signature campaign spreadsheets on: March 01, 2019, 09:42:37 AM
Yes.

Just because sometimes you can see your own name there and unknown address next to it. So if you have the time you can investigate that guy and kick his ass for cheating in bounties.

Often it's easy to catch bounty cheaters, with same telegram, twitter, addresses etc.
On the other hand when you have a public spreadsheet, if you want to revenge on someone it's easy to register just another account with his Twitter name and kick him off the bounty for cheating.

After all it's better to have overview over the members and shares for sure.

Hmm,

If I'm not mistaken, the logs are not publicly available ( To check ) ^^

Here we access them through those links and they are
Great,

How can we get access to the modlog and the seclog? I tried to find it but without success til now.

I'll use this thread to write my review on Epochtalk later. Smiley

Please do, because with the current version of the forum they are publicly available you can access them from here:
Link to modlog: https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php
Link to seclog: https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php

My overview > Updated 03.03.

Bugs/issues

1.  Notifications  for mentions are triggered after a certain amount of time.  That is OK .
2. After Marking the notifications  " all read" there is still pending old notification.
3.  Toolbar menus for posting  are missing . I guess it's intended.
4.  Trust feedback cannot be changed or removed after posting it. I guess there is some cool down time, but should be mentioned somewhere on the page.
5. Seems like the view count is not working .
6. There are no "post drafts" after a preview of a post.
7. Self-moderated thread is actually not a self moderated. You cannot delete posts. Actually you can hide them but the user can unhide them so it is useless.
8 . Some symbols are not displayed at all like asterisk. If you have it in the signature, it disappears.
9. No post count option.
10. cannot delete posts in self-moderated threads, can only hide them - i guess it's intentional.
11. No ranks yet.
12. No restriction in posting and searching, maybe due to no ranking system yet.
13. I cannot move topics in different sections

Side note: I guess big part of those issues can be corrected/activated  from the admin panel. I have no access to confirm that.

What caught my attention /no issues/ :

Activity stops at 14. I guess the algorithm is working.

What I like :

1. You can choose to report user or post, I like it Smiley
2. Easy to add users to the trust list,  separate  buttons to trust and untrust lists, cool.
3.  Nice mobile version
2971  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: February 28, 2019, 10:08:16 PM
This is what I have so far quickly adapted from what I had on fedora so some of it might not work properly.

Great, thanks for the script. I have to find some time to take out of service my old FreeBSD firewall and give it a fresh breath of air with some new Linux distro Smiley
2972  Other / Meta / Re: How to tell which mod actually deletes a post? on: February 28, 2019, 09:58:03 PM
Does it not show somewhere who deleted?

I don't think it does. I don't think the modlog came with the SMF software in the first place, and it just simply isn't something that has ever been implemented/programmed into the "custom" modlog?

Does anyone know if this is different on epoch?

I just started lurking in the epochtalk but  I haven't messed up with the logs yet. Interesting is that now you have an option while reporting to choose whether you want to report the posts itself or the user profile.

I guess I'm gonna write a review if I get the time for it.

Back on topic, the only way to find out is to ask the mods, which you already did and now is only a matter of time to get a response.
2973  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What determines the newbie experience when they first come to bitcoin? on: February 28, 2019, 08:40:12 PM
Everyone had a different start.
A colleague of mine back in 2009 said that there is a new "digital money" project which looks like could have a good future. We were laughing back than that it's P2P and some day it will be forbidden same as the torrents which at that time started to close down sites.
Now we are joking that if we had invested 10$ back then things could be different now but ...

Anyway, some friends were mining back 2012-2013 but they got scammed and lost some money. I was mining only for fun and got a few satoshis but after that case I lost interest.

Picked up the trend again in 2017 just before the hard fork and the halving and since than I'm on the same boat. Came rather late to bitcointalk tho.

I have some Forex trading background, I thought I could try the same with crypto trading but the crytomarket never sleeps and day trading is too time consuming and stresfull for a hobby so I quit.

Never looked for a real income I have a well paid job already, it's more for fun and hobby-money for some gadgets and hardware.
That's all.

Created second account, but still no email confirmation.

It goes into the spam section.

Regarding the privacy, I've created email just for this registration, random password and of course VPN Smiley this should be just a common sense precautions when you register to a never-heard-before website.

I think lulucrypto had no bad intentions but anyway...

I've tested it a little and I like it a lot.
Here what I wrote as a first impressions :

There I start a thread with what I have marked til now. :

2976  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: February 28, 2019, 01:05:43 PM
I am confused in some point.

1. Is it the same (exact) software that will be we are using in future or it is some beta/test version.
2. If we put software as open source then phishing  site like bitcointalk.to will not take advantage?
3. Why theymos want user to test it voluntarily only? Is it not good if forum spend couple of grands and user here and hired QA both test it together?
4.Requirement Doc need to be updated first before any testing.

I'm testing it right now and I can say it's awesome Smiley Need some small touches here and there but nothing big. It's like a lambo that needs some polish, that's all.  It's exiting for sure.

Note: no merit system yet Cheesy
2977  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: February 28, 2019, 12:27:58 PM
I don't know what is your policy for meriting on the Local broad sections but I have to bring attention to this post >
Those guys created an Epochtalk forum so we can test the software. How cool is that?
I think they deserve some merit.
Bonsoir,

2978  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: February 28, 2019, 12:10:21 PM
Anyone managed to set it up yet? I'm a bit in a short of a free time these days but I really want to try it.
We can make a test crypto forum so everyone can use and test it. I'm willing to trow a few satoshi that way if anyone has the time for it Smiley

I was going at it earlier but the dependencies wouldn't install correctly so I think I've broken Jet's vps further than he had previously broken it lol..

I'm going to take a look again soon and uninstall and reinstall the dependencies that don't work in turn..

I made a script for the redhat dependency install if anyone wants it. I can convert it to the debian family also if it's helpful.

I would love to try it, so if you convert it for debian it will be perfect, my old FreeBSD server is already too messed up and it will be a breath of fresh air with some fresh linux distro on it Smiley

@yogg, well you brought it up to me so you both deserve merit Smiley
2979  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: February 28, 2019, 12:05:30 PM

A user active in the French local sub-forum did setup Epochtalk.
Here is the link :

Wow, thanks man! I'll trow some merit your way when I have some. Out of sMerit for the 5th time in the last couple of months Cheesy
I'll post that link in the OP so everyone who want tho try it can register Smiley
