Batch 4 starts shipping tomorrow. SP10 Doesn't ship until May 16, and that's assuming they get them all out the door on the 16th. You're right, I don't own an SP10 because I'm risk averse and up until now the Spondoolies pricing has been garbage comparative to other offerings. Like others, I don't care how pretty it looks, I care that the $/GH is the lowest possible, it arrives promptly, and hashes for the next 5-6 months until it's obsolete/impractical to run. What does Spondoolies-tech put down as the invoice cost on the paperwork? While both S2 and SP10 hash at the advertised rate I am sure that the SP10 has more uptime than the S2.
You're sure of a lot of things when it comes to Spondoolies, aren't you? Disclosure: I'm interested in buying a couple of these units, but I'd advise laying off the championing. Look what Bitcoinorama did for KnC and now half the board loathes him. You sound bad intended. Here is why: - First you say that an S2 arrives 2 weeks earlier to find out that it's actually just 1 week and it's not arriving, it's shipping. Two different things; - You said something about import fees and now after I question you, you remain silent; - After failing first 2 arguments you introduce a new one the $/GH. This GB offers 2.13$/GH (with one free hosting which costs more than the electricity for one month for some remote and expensive locations) Do you imply that S2 is cheaper?; - Asking me about SP-Tech's invoice without answering me is just low; The Bitcoinorama argument again. Bitcoinorama was right about KnC back last year before they shipped anything. Don't compare facts from last year in different circumstances with facts from this year under other circumstances. Last year when Bitcoinorama was supporting KnC we only had bare Avalon chips (with lots of failed projects), bitfury and KnC. (BFL doesn't count) Bitcoinorama helped me and many others make the decision to get pre-orders from KnC instead of others and he did a very good job and i repeat myself he was right about KnC. They delivered on time, had a very good W/GH and they also got 50% more hashrate than advertised for Batch 2 customers (while Batch 1 customers got just ~30% more hashrate than advertised) and they worked as intended. Of course there were a few boards that got fire, but the number was very small and they had a pretty decent RMA process. Because of this success Jupiters were sold at 3x or more their original price on the markets and for me KnC managed to be very close to the Avalon Batch 1 success where people paid crazy amounts of money compared to the original price. Until now I don't think that was repeated again, but feel free to correct me. After this big success and after the fiasco from December with the spare/upgrade boards, Bitcoinorama slowly faded away and stopped supporting KnC and right now I am sure that he is no where near KnC. I have no idea what went between them, but I am sure that he wasn't satisfied with how things went and he walked away. So I don't see why would half the board loathe 'Orama because didn't lie with anything regarding Jupiters. I still don't feel any regret for tipping him over 1BTC at that moment and I would do it again anytime. Also don't compare how he stood by a company who never launched anything in bitcoin mining with me supporting SP-Tech who already have launched a great product at a great price with a great power consumption  Good luck
Have you took into consideration the amount of old tech that will go offline soon? Uh oh. Looks like a very slow start this time. Is the going to be a price reduction soon? Looks like it is pretty hard to flog 1.5T in this crowded market.
There will be no price reduction, but I'm amused of how posts who claim continuous exponential rising in difficulty stand near posts who claim that nothing is selling right now on the market. |

I purchased a number of SP10 boxes and i will tell you there is no other box that can touch the quality, stability, and looks of the Spondoolies-Tech boxes.
I did purchase an S2 to evaluate and it is junk -- came in pieces and 4 damaged boards -- RMA is like pulling teeth.
I also have a couple other 1Th+ boxes, and they just don't compare at all.
Definitely worth the premium if you want a solid box that you know will work when you plug it in, and will outlive the competition.
You might outlive the competition, but you might not outlive the profitability. I rather have an ugly box that makes me money than good looking box that does not. Please explain how come the ugly box of S2 makes money and the good looking box of SP10 doesn't. |

How many miners Spondoolies delivered?
C'mon some S2 had problems less than 1% most of them on Batch one, I had several customers in the 100TH-300TH range and 101% of them are very happy and ordering more units most of them.
SP-10 is a very good piece of hardware, Gadi and the rest are very nice looks for me like good people.
But considering that I think is not required to day bad things about Bitmain to sell SP-10.

I don't want this to be a debate on why is S2 better than SP10, but when people raise issues I like to address them. @topminingcontracts I do understand that you are among the new Bitmain distributors, but the facts are out there and can't be hidden. You say that S2 had problems with less than 1% of their Batch one. What about Batch 2 and 3? How many problems were there? Why don't you mention them? Would you like to dig them for you or will you admit that they had A LOT of problems regarding shipping, cards being corrupt right out of the box, psu issue (miner shutting down) etc. It's not like I'm making the problems up. I backed them with proof and there is plenty available on the S2 thread. Here is your 1% of Batch one units: Earlier in the thread it seems like a lot of Batch 1 owners were reporting issues with the unit losing all (or some) config data upon reboot. (I think the gist was that some people just had EVERYTHING overwritten/reset, and others were just losing specific parts of their customizations, like IPs and changes to initscripts or passwords, etc.)

I really wish the price would be just a little bit more aggressive. Around $2/GH. Make you think about it.... It's the lowest $/GH right now if we exclude the scammers from VMC and when comparing to the S2 please take into consideration the following: As an EE and embedded software engineer I see these problems:
1. Bus based systems using card edge connectors - unreliable (see original IBM PC)
2. Beagle board is hobbyist grade - unreliable, known for SD card problems
3. Too many ASICS - unreliable
4. Shipping problems because of #1 above.
Antminer S2 turned up today, it was in horrible condition, cards loose everywhere, thermal paste everywhere, pci slots all bent to shit, after an hour and a half or so of fiddling (2 screws were stripped and needed to be drilled out) i managed to get it back together, then i had a problem with the screen, played around some more and got that working. PROBLEM! Its turning on and mining (all cards are flashing, hash rate on screen etc) but it will not allow me to access the settings and displays a "404 not found" error and on top of that it will not login via ssh with putty and tells me that the password i am using username: root password: root is not working, so i cannot even change pools. Bitmain shipped me a unit that is basically mining for them!  Can someone please help? i emailed bitmain but his advice was to reseat everything and try again...
i have done this a dozen times.
is the BBB supposed to have a solid red led lit on it?

startin the rig without the sd card makes it spin loud continuously and the lcd screen never 'arrives' despite being lit.

I.e by spending 8 btc for this miner you'll earn 5 btc plus a pretty gear as a bonus.
Assuming that difficulty goes up exponentially, but we are at the lowest growth for the last 10 months judging by this graph http://bitcoin.sipa.be/growth.pngLike I said we are currently at 8 Bn - next week 9 Bn - you will break even at 40 Bn... That's a long way to go.... I doubt anyone believes that this will happen in 3-4 months - that you will break even for your investment with the current rates. And before 40BN everyone with higher than 0.7W/GH power consumption is already in the red and needs to turn their miners off. |

Spondoolies Tech will start shipping on May 16 based on the reservation queue. I know these are more power efficient, but the S2 right now costs $2200 for 1TH ($2.20/Gh VS $2.395/Gh based on 0-100 orders.) I also agree with cr4sh0verride, if only the BTC price was higher, I would've bought a few units. I haven't recouped enough money from all my previous purchases to be able to buy these. The are a lot of differences when comparing SP10 to the S2. First of all your SP10 won't come trashed and it will be plug and hash! Until today nobody complained that the miner didn't hash out of the box. Also the SP10 is more robust and it doesn't feel like something might break or fall down any moment. It doesn't have overheat problems since it has thermal sensors that can invoke chips shutdown separately. I saw S2s with corrupt images right on their first days, haven't seen one yet in an SP10. Also choosing SP10 will also bring you a Customer Support that is by far much better. You will get answers every time and you can send any requests regarding the firmware and the miner GUI. Let's see that when you buy an S2. I find SP10 is much much more reliable and it can reach 0.7W/GH if needed because I see power consumption comparing. @Airwhale Batch 4 isn't shipping yet so I don't know why are you comparing shipping times. |

Yes please, for those of us who do not know what the difference in those boards means can you please explain if hitting that 85 GH/s is good? Is that on target for a 140A board? Does that put your estimates of getting 120 GH/s on a 200A board feasible? Please elaborate on what that means? Small Business Note: Leaving a message that the chip that was designed to achieve 120 GH/s is getting 85 GH/s, and not explaining to a non-technical crowd what this means is generally a bad idea. (especially when that crowd is already a little angry) Also - you did not include power specs, were those being tested as well? What are/were they? Edit: I think you should post an address where you are doing your testing to, I would like to see/know what BA is doing with the chips now that they are in hand. I started to play with voltage numbers like 0.7V*140A=98W? But I agree and support your post. I consider myself non-technical and we are really in the dark. |
