2981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash - hold or dump? on: August 21, 2017, 12:15:57 PM
BCC for me is less interesting to keep, although maybe i will have small profit from trading it. Because in my opinion, BCC is just debris from BTC fractions. I've sold it some time ago, and divert all to a better altcoin in my opinion.
We don't know if it will be worth like $1000 in the future but i like to hold mine since BCC is only free so i have nothing to worry about that coins or the money that i will get if i sell it now.

The bitcoincash people are aiming for a price of at least $2000. Whether this affects bitcoin is a separate question - it might be that so much new money has come into the cryptocurrency space that it can sustain both coins at a high price.
So do you mean it is worth to hold more than a year? but now it is too hard to speculate that it will be more than $2000 and its possible in cryptocurrency.

If you believe in the project, hold, if you don't, sell. But the people behind bitcoincash are determined to make their coin a success. I guess we'll find out in a few months whether people are using it, and what adoption they are gaining. The value will come from that. If no-one uses it, it will crash.
2982  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break $4500 this week? on: August 21, 2017, 11:56:54 AM
I think segwit activates on August 23rd. What happens after that is anyone's guess. My prediction is a bit of profit taking as the move from $3000 to $4400 was too quick (took just three weeks).
2983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting the next level... requirements. on: August 21, 2017, 10:56:38 AM
In order for bitcoin to hit levels of $250,000+...... it will need to be accepted and marketed everywhere. So far, Microsoft accepts bitcoin. This could be the ice breaker and the door opener for other companies such as Apple, Sony, Google, etc down the road, eventually leading to retailers such as Walmart and franchise such as Mcdonalds.

In order for bitcoin to take off to levels that seem ridiculous right now, we will need to see the average Joe not only be holding bitcoin..... but also be spending it. (In this case, $250,000 could possibly be severely underestimated)

The network can't cope with more than 250,000 transactions per 24 hour period.

That was why some developers got fed-up and forked the chain to create bitcoincash, which has 8 mg blocks. If adoption as a currency happens, it won't be on bitcoin - it will be on the other chains, bitcoincash, ether, doge, litecoin etc.

2985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is $4000 the perfect time to buy on: August 21, 2017, 09:56:19 AM
According to teh analysis on the following article, bitcoin might test the $3500 support line:

https://www.fxstreet.com/analysis/bitcoin-analysis-bearish-reversal-confirmed-eyes-3500-201708210640

There are three supports, $3938, $3800 and $3454.

Obviously, do your own research etc etc
2986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LiteCoin UPDATE TOMORROW!!! TO THE MOON on: August 21, 2017, 09:23:09 AM
Litecoin founder, Charlie Lee, says too that litecoin is much cheaper to use in daily transactions such as buying coffee.
LTC usually implements features like segwit and lightening ahead of bitcoin so is good in technology as well.

And coins like doge and steem are cheaper still (steem has no fees at all).

If you look at the transactions, there are only about 17,000 transactins done in a 24 hour period, so people arn't really using it. It's ethereum that is being use a lot (a lot more than bitcoin itself)
2987  Economy / Speculation / Re: The future of bitcoin in 1 chart on: August 21, 2017, 09:18:05 AM
Berkshire Hathaway gets it's value from the consistently good decision making of Warren Buffet

But you cannot say that people in the bitcoin space are making consistently good decisions - some of the things that have been happening since 2013 have been idiotic and damaging.
2988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex and altcoins on: August 20, 2017, 06:06:26 PM
I decided to start doing some trading and got an account on bittrex for that (that's what most of people advised me to do. I saw that there are many currencies there. I don't even know some of them at all. Anyway, I transferred some funds to this site and wanted to make my first purchase - IOTA. To my deep disappointment, I found out there is no such currency there. My question is WHY? Iota is in top 5 right now in marketcap and #10 in volume! Why is it not possible to trade it on bittrex? I really don't think it's worse than Expanse or Mysterium (both around 29 mil marketcap).

Bittrex have a habit of delisting coins when their trading volume on Bittrex drops. Because this causes loads of aggro, they are now pretty cautious about which coins they add (this wasn't always the case). They'll want to see sustained trading volume elsewhere before they add it, to save themselves the bother of adding it, the coin doing well for a few weeks, and then the volume dying and them having to delist.
2989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Blockchain now added ether on: August 20, 2017, 04:53:24 PM
A so called Bitcoin evangelist company is now offering Etherum solution. What a crime. It will end like Coinbase, every 2 years they will add new wallets like litecoin, dogecoin, ethereum classic, etc And I agree with the poster above, most people are interested with ERC20 tokens, so they are putting a limit themselves

There are now more transactions done on the Ethereum network than on the bitcoin network. No company can ignore that, especially as Ether seems to be developing all sorts of applications and layers on top of it.
2990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin correction is coming? on: August 20, 2017, 04:10:33 PM
There can be some correction, both from whales and from BCH camp, but it will be small dip. Price will eventually go up because there are too much people buying it now, there was a increasing of thousand of people subscribing to coinbase.

Nothing can stop bitcoin now. The only question is how to make use of the dips, how to predict them so that you can maximize your profit.

I think also that "nothing can stop Bitcoin" but I doubt that this means an eternal bull run. It is possible $4500 will be the top for some months. We had a short term head and shoulders pattern in the last two days (three highs with the one in the middle being the highest). That is often a trend reversal pattern.
The increases in the last days were very strong and I expect that there are many people selling now to take some profits. Maybe it will only be a short term bottom and the bulls start a try for $5000, but I'm almost sure it won't go higher than that, for now.

(I have incorrectly called the top at $4000, so maybe I'm wrong again Grin).

I think it will test $4000 first and maybe $3800, before trying again to get past $4500.
2991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money is Roger Ver paying the businessinsider to pump BCash? on: August 20, 2017, 02:01:07 PM
https://www.businessinsider.com.au/bitcoin-cash-just-exploded-in-value-2017-8

The Business Insider is constantly reporting on this altcoin for a couple of hours ago. It seems rather obvious that they are getting paid to do so. Roger Ver and Jihan pumping the price, then paying mainstream media to report on the pump to get the noobs buying. Good ol strategy. I wonder how much they are investing on this one.

I don't think they're being paid. You have to understand that this hard fork has been talked about far and wide, and the bitcoin civil war makes very good copy for journalists. Of course they're going to report how it has soared in value. They cover Ethereum too, because both Ether and BCH have the potential to replace bitcoin.
2992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LiteCoin UPDATE TOMORROW!!! TO THE MOON on: August 20, 2017, 01:45:22 PM
Thanks for the update and this news! Litecoin's price is not affected by this news.
I never understood why devs and marketers are so often miles apart and that seems to be the case with LTC too.

The problem is that litecoin doesn't do anything that other coins don't do. If you want segwit, you can use bitcoin. If you want big blocks you can use bitcoincash. If you want fast confirmations you can use steem, if you want smart contracts you can use ether, if you want inflation, you can use doge.

What does litecoin offer than no other coin offers?
2993  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin core and altcoins get dump Bitcoin Cash pumping. on: August 20, 2017, 01:25:54 PM
Of course it's getting pumped because of all the news about mining profitability and hard fork fud.

If it is profitable to mine the BCC now, will the miner mine it and then dump it to drive down the price?

Miners don't want to drive down the price of anything they mine - they want the price to rise. So they'll sell slowly, feeding the coins into the market.
2994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoincash gains more support on: August 20, 2017, 12:17:51 PM
I'd like to try mining it, are there any pools yet?

There are - have a look at the followinh thread, which explains how to mine it:

2995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoincash is around 755.04 $ now! on: August 20, 2017, 11:17:32 AM
thank god that bitcoincash is stable at 800$ this will let opportunity for miners to get some profit from it at least it more profitable than bitcoin mabye this coin go higher to 1200/2000$ who knows

More profitable then BTC? Don't make me laugh. Do some proper research before believing all the FUD from Ver and Wu please. Grin

I think he means more profitable to mine. The difficulty is low on bitcoincash, which means the chance of a miner finding a block is higher than on bitcoin.

Even if he means mining, he's still wrong  Grin

He isn't. Take a look at the following:

https://www.coinwarz.com/miningprofitability/sha-256

Of the sha-256 coins, bitcoincash is #1 for mining profitability. Bitcoin is at #7 (Peercoin is actually more profitable to mine than bitcoin at the moment!)

Will bitcoin core team join bitcoin cash team if the value keeps rising?
'

Sadly no, there is now too much bad blood between the two teams.
2998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash to the moon? on: August 19, 2017, 05:42:10 PM
Its just fast because it is new and there is not much traffic there. There are just a few who are using it and that is why.
Question is who is pumping it?
I am sure they have reasons to why they are doing this. ROI maybe?

Be really careful guys.

Here is what I think is happening: they had to wait for the difficulty on bitcoincash to drop before they started the pump. There is another difficulty drop due this weekend.

Now, a high price + low difficulty means that it is more profitable to mine bitcoincash than bitcoin at the moment. Remember that they are both sha-256 coins, and the ASIC miners who mine sha-256 coins have very few choices (only peercoin is also sha-256, the other alts are either scrypts which get mined with graphics cards, or they are POS coins).

Next, when a miner gets their reward of 12.5 coins, they can't spend those newly minted coins till they have 100 confirmations. If we assume a block every 10 minutes, then 100 confirmations is 1000 minutes which about 16 and a half hours. So this pump will continue for at least a week to entice miners - the more they see the price is holding up, the less risk they have of mining as they will reach their 100 confirmations in good time to sell at a good price.

The end game is bitcoincash taking over most of the mining power of bitcoin and replacing it as the main coin. (they obviously need infrastructure too - but they are on most exchanges, Overstock is accepting it, and payment processors like Rocketr are accepting it. That leaves just Coinbase and Bitpay holding out.)

This war has been brewing for a long long time, and the bitcoincash people mean to win.
2999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 1 BCH = 1 BTC before end of august? on: August 19, 2017, 05:04:32 PM
It still needs more adoption. People still need to use either BTC or ETH to exchange for other alt coins on some exchanges. No easy buy of BCC through Coinbase. No good wallet yet. The price is probably too high for what it should be worth at this point in time.

You can buy BCH with USD or Euros on Kraken. And Bitfinex allows you to buy BCH with USD. I wouldn't be surprised if the eastern exchanges allow you to buy with fiat as well.
3000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bcash (Bitcoin Cash) Speculation Thread on: August 19, 2017, 02:08:41 PM
Does anybody have any idea why Bcash is moving really quick the past two days?  I bet China has finally started to place their money where their mouth is.

I could see this reach maybe 50% of BTC's price.  But the question is will the hash rate follow?  Fun times for Bitcoin.

There is a pump going on, to make it more profitable to mine bitcoincash (the difficulty adjusts down this weekend and low difficulty + high price make it mucho profitable to mine).

And it does look like some miners are switching - see the following image, where they mined 9 blocks in an hour:
