2981  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos, proposals and rules. on: February 28, 2019, 11:51:31 AM
If I remember correctly theymos said that he won't add any new ranks for now so this is just a lost cause at the moment.

Those proposed in the OP sound a bit like in the military and here, besides some fights we are trying to keep a peace between the users. There always will be some small wars but.. lets keep it friendly.

Cool rank titles would be Mythical, Immortal, Divine, Godlike (or Vodlike Cheesy) and the one I like the most True BTC Believer or True BTC Supporter ... maybe Blockchainer

Back to the OP and maybe a bit off topic but did you know that you have an open case for plagiarism?

YOSHIE (archive)

Text spinning & plagiarism:

I've heard of this BitGame gambling site, including one of the cryptocurrency casinos. With interesting games such as: Lucky 7 game, Dice, Blackjack, Videopoker, Red Dog Poker, Casino War, War or Tail.
I'm a little curious:
I really want to ask,
1. Can I find the latest promotional news and information?

22. What is the minimum deposit and maximum allowed?

13. Can I deposit Ethereum Classic (ETC) to my BitGame Ethereum (ETH) address?

4. What do withdrawals do? how am i attractive?

What is a good browser and best to play when using BitGame?

Copied from various points in the site's FAQ. Game list is in identical formatting and order as the FAQ, and all questions are identical/spinned versions of the questions in the FAQ.
2982  Other / Meta / Re: Black screen when loading forum pages in chrome. on: February 28, 2019, 11:21:20 AM
Update, I just got a black screen on the Chrome Beta as well. It's much rare than on the normal chrome.
Exactly on this thread right now. Came to post that for the last two days didn't experienced it but... The Murphy's laws in action...
What I'm gonna do is to upgrade all again to the last version and see if there are any changes.
2983  Other / Meta / Re: Lots of brand new account necro-posting in Bitcoin Discussion board on: February 28, 2019, 07:59:09 AM
i agree with your answer, but what we will do when account is gone be brand new after deleted all the message by the moderator? Embarrassed

Accounts are nuked. They cannot have any activity on the forum, only log in and read.
If they gonna create new ones, this no one can stop. Only a EvilIP fee will be added to the IP they were posting from.
Then sir, why we are not allowing to do any comment on popular thread? even our ip is not banned and we have a right to comment on thread. Angry

Because dear Gussie_Gibbs (we somehow missed this one) farming accounts it's not something that is tolerated in our community. You have the right to comment but when you cross the line ( of the rules) then your rights are taken away.
Now you cannot post in the forum anymore... sir...

2984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will happen when the mining ends? on: February 27, 2019, 12:50:16 PM
it seems it will never end  Grin

Without scrolling trhough two pages of probably similar stuff. There will be a point where the block reward goes below mining fees (probably). Blocks might have to get bigger to accomodate for this adjustment or the mining fees might increase but the miners will still want to keep mining anyway (even if it becomes just hobbistic miners). As the amount of time it takes to solve a block changes every 2016 blocks then the amount you can eanr is also going to follow glose to potentially the electrical cost (hopefully) which means we'll still havea decentralised network and a lot of miners. Once it becomes less profitible to mine (if that happens) then it will be good to see the increase in the number of people wanting to decentralise the currency by mining with their cell phones and also mining with their computers/full node software.

Described like this I image the time when we used modems to access internet. Probably something similar will happen, you will need a mining device/app when making transactions to support the network.

Does cleaning browser's data works? I'm using an outdated Google Chrome App and seems like nothing is wrong with this one. Try to clear it's data and cache if it's working. I guess its because of the capacity or ram that the phone can only handle.

Edit: I updated my chrome I also fell this problem and try to clear it's data and cache.

No, didn't help. Yesterday I installed chrome beta . Up till now didn't experienced any problems. I guess this black screen issue will be resolved with the next update.

Basically, the only way to verify p2sh addy messages is Trezor.

An update. Thanks to MaoChao, I found a variation of brainwallet which can verify p2sh messages :

Nice info, but you need to post a proper source, so you won't to be accused in plagiarism.
I see that you are support of the website you are promoting and copying info from, but here are some strict rules regarding plagiarism. Quote the info properly.

BTW we have a Hardware Wallets section now Wink
2991  Other / Meta / Re: (Suggestion) sMerits Of Banned Accounts on: February 26, 2019, 08:55:06 AM
I don't think we need to kick the hornet's nest like this.
All the high valuable members will became targets and there is gonna be a lot of mess.
It's better like it is now, just burn them. There are enough sMerit generated per month, just there are not enough good posts to be rewarded.

2992  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: February 26, 2019, 02:12:37 AM
I'll install it on my server tomorrow, and give it a go.
I'm also thinking to write a review on my blog and advertise it a bit here and there.

I'll make a translation to Bulgarian & Norwegian if needed. Smiley

Since his comment is in the New Forum software section, which is not that popular the last days. Here I post part of his post.
~
In short: If you want the software quicker, go run your own forum with it, and work to get any problems or missing features you find resolved via bug reports, etc. This would increase public interest, provide much-needed testing, and I might even hire you to work on bitcointalk.org when we're ready to do the final transition here.

The full update on the development of the new forum software can be found following the quote.

Here all I want to focus on is the testing and popularizing of the Epochtalk.

I think Meta is suitable for this kind of discussion.

Link to their website : http://epochtalk.org/

You can test it here >
Thanks to yogg for the info Smiley

A user active in the French local sub-forum did setup Epochtalk.
Here is the link :

Those cases are very difficult to proof. Same as the suchmoon accusation
Nowadays everything can be done with Photoshop/gimp. I think this is just a lost cause....

^This is also a nice example that not all the users are so "techy" and what I suggested can help them a lot Smiley

Of course everything can be fixed with help of the community here Smiley
2996  Other / Meta / Re: New collection of badges for self-made users on: February 25, 2019, 10:39:10 AM
I would favour though displaying the number of earned merits alongside the merit counter (i.e. 120/ 620 -> 120 earned merits out of a total of 620 merits).
Merit: 266/256
I also think this is a neater solution for this issue.

As I said before, I don't think it's fair to think about deranking older members who reached their status before the introduction of the merit system - it puts too much weight on the last 12 months, and it essentially punishes users for being most active during the early years of bitcoin, which is completely backwards when you think about. I'm also not a huge fan of another distinction being made between "good" users and "bad" users. We already have the ranking system and the trust system. As Crypto-DesignService says, it just seems like these badges would introduce another "us v them" or superiority/inferiority dynamic which is counter-productive to a cohesive community and good newbies getting involved in discussions.

I would like to be able to see earned merit vs total merit as in the examples above, or have the airdropped merits slowly start to decay, but I don't think anything more than that is really needed.

Oh' I haven't seen DdmrDdmr's post before mine Cheesy, seems like i suggested something he already mentioned.
2997  Other / Meta / Re: <New Feature Request> Personal Trust list backup/history? on: February 25, 2019, 09:42:35 AM
You can use theymos' weekly data dump to restore your trust list to last week's version.

Great, then this can be only indicated in the trust page with a link to dump maybe. A good way to post the dumps can be in the More menu.
BTW I see a new sub-menu "Contacts", that's good.  Every time you need to find some dump, you need to go trough theymos post history. Maybe this is intended to be so and only those interested can find it with easy.
2998  Other / Meta / <New Feature Request> Personal Trust list backup/history? on: February 25, 2019, 08:41:45 AM
This is an issue I've faced at the begging of the new trust system changes.
I accidentally deleted my whole trust list and luckily I had it open in another tab so I mange to save it back but I'm sure other people would not have been so lucky. Read some posts that people have deleted their lists by mistake and had no backups, thanks to LoyceV things have changed a bit but still we have to rely on 3rd party services * and I think this should be implemented in the forum.

Now since the custom lists are more and more used can we just store the last list saved list. It can be crucial for the DTs. It's difficult to remember all inclusions and exclusions.

*- I personally have no problem trusting those services as I trust LoyceV, but I guess there are also people not willing to use them.
2999  Other / Meta / Re: New collection of badges for self-made users on: February 25, 2019, 07:52:36 AM
Instead of having so many different coins under the name isn't it better just to add the earned merit to the airdropped like :

Merit: 10+256

Or total merit/earned merit - this will save more space Wink

Merit: 266/256
3000  Other / Meta / Re: Force to Reset Password on: February 25, 2019, 07:37:24 AM
No matter what level security you have, if you don't know how to protect your data, changing the data every x days won't do the job.

Those who know what to do are already protected enough, those who have no idea, have to be educated.
Instead of a forcing different procedures, better to add a link in the welcome message how to protect yourself from eventual intruders. It's not the forum responsibility to teach the newbies, but still we can add some helpful info.

In this digital world, how to protect yourself should be a common knowledge.
