The volume from exchanges charging  0% transaction fee does not count.
Why do you think so? Don't they have an impact on the price like all the other exchanges?
Some (maybe most) trades are done by the exchange itself to bloat the volume.

Some (maybe most) trades are done by the exchange itself to bloat the volume AND it doesn't matter if they pay fees for doing so ... to themselfes! Here's the part with the logic, you missed that one out.

So if >xy% of all trades are done in country Z, that means that most of the trade happens there, not elsewhere. I think they have that ASIC mining monopoly, too.

Sell me all your BTC then for $300 each. Thanks

I sold higher! Bad offer. Well perhaps for next weeks it will turn into a good offer.

2984  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Reason for bitcoin popularity in Germany? on: October 02, 2014, 07:07:55 AM
But it's not the tipping point after which it grows exponentially, no. It's the tipping point where people start fleeing it en masse to other technologies and undervalued cryptos. After all, why would you buy Bitcoin if you can buy something cheaper, which does the same, or even better - if you can buy something cheaper which does the same and then a few other things. Bitcoin was the bootstrapping crypto, now is the time for other technologies to take its place. It won't happen overnight, but the process has begun.

Agreed. I also think the tipping point has been reached or at least will be reached in the very near future. A lot of people will most certainly call me crazy, but Bitcoin is dead to me.

I said that quite a while ago when Bitcoin was near high in November last year and I was ridiculed and laughed at by some of these people in a meetup. Perhaps their minds are too simple.

Bitcoin will see its last days. Maybe not tomorrow, but definitely before the end of the decade. The irony is, everyone is talking about bitcoin! We have banks, we have businesses, we have giant companies wanting to jump in the bandwagon and we have miners putting in 10s of millions of serious money into mining these coins. And no one can see the obvious storm that is looming ahead. Are they blind?

It is dead in germany, too. The ATM in Bochum just failed, will go onto the junkpile soon (partially due to their own fault implementing too much surveilance technology into the ATM, which features a fingerprint sensor. This is totally uncommon for each and every other terminal out there. None have that.)
2985  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: BITCOIN / LITECOIN ATM - Opening Bochum, Germany 14.09.2014 on: October 02, 2014, 06:51:39 AM
Oh nein. Bereits aufgegeben?

2986  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Hot Coins on: October 01, 2014, 02:54:01 PM

2987  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: BITCOIN / LITECOIN ATM - Opening Bochum, Germany 14.09.2014 on: September 30, 2014, 05:03:05 PM

2990  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: satoshin@gmx.com gehackt on: September 30, 2014, 09:46:58 AM

If it can be hacked, cheated, or manipulated it must be done. Don't know what, if anything BCX was trying to point out. But this is the burden that comes along with new frontiers. If ya can't hold, best get off the ride now.  Grin

Will somebody clarify the mining exploit found. What % what miners disadvantaged and what pools were involved?

http://monerochain.info/charts/difficulty would have shown, but coincidentaly ... offline. Any newer service charting total network Hashrate?
Basically watch the drop in Hashrate once the pools applied the patch. Easy. Is 20957 khs now and was same order of magnitude days ago.
2992  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Hot Coins on: September 30, 2014, 06:57:01 AM

2993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 30, 2014, 12:42:44 AM
No suspicious activity has been observed other than the pool exploit that was fixed recently (and probably not related, as it has apparently be around for a while).

I am peeved by this one. Not really differenciating between a crippled miner against a cheating pool. And Monero got both of them. Will there ever be a stop on doing that? Next comes botnet mining doing most of hashrate?
2994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Coins stolen/ Hacked be warned on: September 29, 2014, 04:44:29 PM
If that isn't secure enough then what is?

Here are a few examples of strong passphrases, these are impossible to bruteforce:

  • u4xJU7F#E>?MZ6z{g&MrX9ePu6)yKPEcd4]8^)FJzJ28q^4Cwc
  • Wm3&F,y;pFQm4GRc26Pr4tM,[4mW>Kr=$4c4X*M4BT+JtVQ2zx
  • }ZL4.yph}.g4AUHPFp}n9$4H9W43EqLXN#8W6=j,4r]uWeVAaQ
  • H8+D/rqrA&?cK3xw82KoWC^Z#=ptjvTaqML968TA,43B&>dQF8
  • }FczoDRt*wmGJ8QL7>47BNqZ{a4c,>BQ>9VG9*p;62RH3bLaB&

Please use KeePass or 1Password to generate secure passwords like the above or use the password generator built-in the wallet. I'm using passwords like these, generated by 1Password, and I've never had issues. Again sorry for your loss mate, I know that sucks.

If they rip off those types of customers first who are "at their own fault due to weakness in passphrasing" then it gives you longer security using some like the above,

... before they empty your wallet, too.

Highly likely that there's something fishy here.
2995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 29, 2014, 12:21:17 PM
What are you laughing for? BCX had reached his goal. He had planned to bring the XMR price down with his exploit bullshit to buy in as cheaply as possible and got what he wanted.

Not at all. Oh on calling out "Bullshit" I do agree, but the daily price is 100% following Bitcoin in response. Now the question is who will sink further down, or propell up? The Litecoin effect can be observed again. Things never change.

ps: ack, v0.8.8.3 is outdated

FUN FACT:

... having sold all Bitcoins 2 months ago at 650 US-$ instead of hodling them in nice form of a Monero Bag would have been the better bottomline. Now it's more like 388 US-$ with a strong tendency pointing downwards.
The big picture is disliked by all fractions, be it pro or contra Monero.
You are right, so it's double mistake  Smiley

Yes, and yes. The last mistake was selling your stack. We have allready worked out that holding Bitcoins is no solution anymore (I assume that is because nobody mines them now anymore. Most mining Rigs have migrated onto new Altcoin algos. BTC always has been about the mining in first place) and there is a spot opening soon for a replacement.
Betting all-in on XMR to jump into that gap with success is a bold move. Leverage your gambling on other base technologies. Like 20$ on the black horse (dark-aynthing), some so called 2.0 coins (I do not, just mentioning for completeness), definitely 30$ on the white horse (CryptoNote variants) and some pennies on Zerocoin/cash since that seems high risk bet.
Good luck!

I was waiting for a 2 months, but nothing positive was happened.. Sold about 5k coins today even at this low price! Now I'm really happy! Bye bye monero!
tomorrow up +400% xd

All of that may be true, however...can we get some official word from the core team on the latest developments?
BCX is implying his TW attack is already running and having an affect on the block chain. Can we disprove that with 100% certainty?

Maybe timewarp attack will need weeks to show effects? Or decades?

He was playing for time all from the beginning.
Exploits announced? One. Delivered? Zero.
Then "hey let's wait and see in 72 hours"
Two days later "takes 22 days to built up and THEN it is inevitable"
Just wait and see, it is 100% CERTAIN that after those 22 days ... he comes up with another two weeks.

Tell that to the market price.  Undecided

Could be marketing vice president of Butterfly Labs   Cool

There is nothing going on, he is playing with the blockchain accepting blocks from different timezones, he is a total clown

A clown, and dedicated to get his last show on stage ongoing and going and going. He knows the curtain falls for him the last time.

In my culture it is custom to expect a Dernièrengag now. I assume that any applaus, if any at all, would not be for the performance itself but for the show ending at last!
