301  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Bitcoin Lottery! on: June 28, 2011, 04:19:54 PM
Yes, I know. I've actually used a bitcoin betting site, although I don't remember which one it was. But see, that's exactly the problem: A new address is created for each player. This makes things less transparent, but is sadly the only way to automate things so far.
302  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Bitcoin Lottery! on: June 28, 2011, 04:11:23 PM
It would be nice, but there are two problems:

1. All payments would be done to a different address, meaning they could not be easily associated to the lottery. This decreases transparency. It would also allow the owner to claim any transaction as the last, as he could just show any address he wishes.

2. Too expensive. I'd have to buy a domain and hosting just for this project. In the long run it would probably be profitable, but I don't have money to invest in such a project at the moment.

If anyone else wants to have a try at it, though, be my guest.

I'm sorry I have to be "that guy", but how do we know we can trust you?

I understand the hesitation I'll try and post more pictures (maybe in crew attire with a sign or something like that.
That would be great. If you do, I'll be happy to donate, although it probably won't be much as I'm a student who needs all the money he can get.
304  Economy / Gambling / The Bitcoin Lottery! on: June 28, 2011, 03:57:50 PM
Welcome to the Bitcoin Lottery!

The Bitcoin Lottery is a completely transparent lottery. How? Well, it works like this:

1. Go to the spreadsheet and pick out a number that is not taken.

2. Once you've chosen your number, send 0.1 BTC to the following address:
Code:
1LPNAbh2D3f4vnYSs2MAfNwAiErnFQLdR1

3. After you've sent the payment, post in this thread with your bitcoin address (to identify your payment) and the number you want.

4. The lottery ends when all 16 numbers have been bought or when three days have passed without a purchase. When the lottery ends, the winner is not decided with a random number generator. Instead, the winner is decided by the last character of the last transaction hash. For example, if the hash of the last transaction is "223a77cb1c49170a37b5c74511a473ac24ecd0f6599f09d987237e2586f93432", then "2" is the winning number.

5. 95% of the BTC is awarded to the winning number (meaning 1.52 BTC if all numbers have been bought) and the remaining 5% is kept by the operator. The lottery then restarts.
If only one person bets, the bet will be returned. Also, if the last character of the last transaction is not a bought number, the second last number will be used instead. If no one has bought that number, the third to last, and so on. This way there is always a winner.

Also: You are allowed to buy multiple numbers. However, you may only make one purchase per round. This means that you can buy for example 3 numbers, but this has to be done in one purchase. This is to prevent abuse of the system, as someone could buy a number close to the end of the lottery to generate a new transaction hash if their number doesn't look like it will win. As soon as a new round starts, you may make another purchase.

So come on in and buy a number! Cheesy

305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Laws Imminent on: June 28, 2011, 03:17:22 PM
I wonder how this could actually work. Would legislation that affects Bitcoin also affect Facebook's game currency or the Linden Dollar?

I can't imagine that they could rush something through like this
Yeah exactly anyway I dont trade currency I trade   'unique number over internet' how they plan to ban  numbers ?? some peopel can call it currency but what is bitcoin from legal point  of view??, from technical its only unique number nothing  more. ONE BIG CAN OF WORM from legal point of view.
Yeah, sorry, people tried that argument with piracy as well. It doesn't work that way.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price is too high at 20$/BTC on: June 28, 2011, 03:08:22 PM
(that's of course only if miners sell all of their gains, but if miners keep some of their coins it only means they expect to sell it for even more in the future!)
Or maybe they, you know, want to spend their bitcoins.
307  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: June 28, 2011, 02:03:13 PM
I thought I would look for the pizza-purchase transaction. There are two candidate transactions. Both of them are for 10,000 BTC on 22 May 2010:

http://blockexplorer.com/address/1CZDM6oTttND6WPdt3D6bydo7DYKzd9Qik
http://blockexplorer.com/address/17SkEw2md5avVNyYgj6RiXuQKNwkXaxFyQ

According to Bitcoin Block Explorer, both of these transactions were spent as "Strange" transactions. The first one (above) was spent a day later, the second one was spent in the very next block after it was received.

What does it mean for a transaction to be "Strange"? Strangeness doesn't seem to have stopped the transaction outputs being spent again later.
Hold your mouse over the question mark by "type".

"Strange is an unusual transaction not created by the official Bitcoin client."

Triple Trouble!
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Av8nVSd1JT3QdHd3bmlqRVhnc2FUb3pWNVhiWmdQbHc&hl=en_US&authkey=CLfNk90P

It's like double trouble, except with a 3X payout!

This is how the game works, for newbies:

1. Send a payment to the following address

Code:
1Nqrhtj6TJxxHAV5Sve1qQJv6iZ3t3BuyF

The payment has to be at least 0.05 BTC, there is no maximum.
Make sure to use the Bitcoin client to send the payment, not an online wallet.

2. Wait for other people to send deposits. Once there is three times your deposit in the pot, you will get paid three times your deposit!
Please note that a fee of 2% + 0.0005 BTC is taken from the pot, but you will still be paid the full X3.

3. The game will continue until no payments have been made for 7 days. The game operates in Greenwich Mean Time (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/) and starts at the time this thread is created (12 PM)
After the game has ended, the remaining BTC in the pot goes to the operator.

Please note that the spreadsheet is not updated instantly or automatically, everything has to be done manually.

313  Economy / Services / ISTQB Certified Software Tester, at your service! on: June 28, 2011, 10:12:50 AM
I am an ISTQB certified software tester (proof will be provided upon request) willing to take on some work for BTCs.

First of all, I will address the importance of testing. You may be thinking "Hey, I can just test my software on my own, right? I know my code the best."
Now, you are partially correct. Programmers find around 60% of their own errors. However, because of bias, (programmers tend to get attached to their code and their specific way of coding) having to look at the same code all day long, not knowing proper testing procedure, etc, programmers do not find that remaining 40%, and this could be critical. Software bugs can cause millions of dollars in losses. It is much, much cheaper to find bugs during development than it is to find them after launch.
Of course, a dedicated tester won't find 100% of all bugs, either. A basic principle of testing is that you cannot prove that a software is bug free, but you can prove that bugs are no longer being found.

Second, programming languages. If you desire white box testing, then it is preferred if your application is written in C/C++, C# or Java. These are the languages I regularly use, and this makes them easier for me to test. I will, however, still do white box testing of applications written in other languages, as long as you don't expect the same quality of service.

Third, pricing. I offer a few different packages, depending on what quality of testing you're after:

Black Box Package
---------------------
You will get:
* Quick and dirty black box testing (Meaning at the user level)
* A test summary report describing bugs found and possible improvements to the application and code.

Price: 0.5 BTC/h

Gray Box Package
---------------------
* Quick and dirty black box testing (Meaning at the user level)
* Quick and dirty white box testing (Meaning at the code level)
* A test summary report describing bugs found and possible improvements to the application and code.

Price: 0.8 BTC/h

Gold Box Package
---------------------
* High quality black box testing (Meaning at the user level)
* High quality white box testing (Meaning at the code level)
* A full test plan, design specification, test case specification, test procedure, test log and test incident report
* A test summary report describing bugs found and possible improvements to the application and code.

Price: 1.2 BTC/h

I will be happy to create a custom package for you or discuss pricing if desired.

If you are interested in my software testing services, please contact me either by PM or post right here in this thread.

I simply line the fact that ón the youtubechannel, you uploaded a video called "download songs for free (100 % free and no virus)

Thats totally legal.

God damnit, we are a search engine. We don't store our fucking music.

Yeah, the owners of TPB said the same thing right before being issued a fine of $3.5 million.

319  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB 1 Red-Ringed Xbox 360 on: June 27, 2011, 05:03:25 AM
I have and RRoDed 360 I'd be willing to part with.

Production date: 2006-05-17
Serial number: 4158674 62005
Accessories: Power cord, AV-cable, harddrive
XBox-Live status: Not banned, has never been banned.
Condition: No problems at all until the RRoD. Didn't have the console long at all before it RRoDed, in fact. Looks almost completely new, aside from a small crack on the HDD and it's visible the console has been opened.
Modification: Flashed Hitachi harddrive.
Offer: Not sure, how much would you be willing to pay?

One problem, though: I reside in Sweden, so shipping could end up rather expensive if you live in the US. Anyway, I'd be happy to part with the console.
320  Economy / Economics / Re: The Fallacy of Mining Cost and Bitcoin Price on: June 27, 2011, 04:30:17 AM
The key to understanding the bitcoin economy is knowing that you cannot understand it.

So just shut up and mine until it is no longer profitable.
