301  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Einstein's theory was challenged by a Sri Lankan scientist.... on: July 20, 2018, 05:09:57 PM
LOL you literally gave me a thought that E=mc2 has proven wrong  Tongue
Not literally, but in a CERN experiment, some of the physicists scientifically also proven that beam of neutrinos was travelled faster than light.  There is also some discrepancy regarding E=mc2 too Cheesy. So don't thrown away your thought. It can be true in near future.

The clip was interesting and I ended up watching the whole TEDx video. It was a good talk.
Actually it was a very good talk which made me to share with all the members.

Quote
Back to the point, you can not always say that everything Einstein said was serious.
Yeah he is a super human being human being too. I remembered one of his famous incident which we heard. One day he decided to make a hole through his door for the entrance to his small cat. Later he got another big cat at his home and he eventually made a large hole through door for large cat. That means two separate holes for small one and large one. That's makes sense he is a human Cheesy

Quote
By the way, very good clickbait. If you notice then you will realize that on this talk the talker also used Einstein's this theory as her talkbait to make presentation interesting for the audience. Other than that, bring Einstein was not even relevant to her topic.
Agreed she only bring Einstein as talkbait for her presentation as like me getting you for the thread for a conversation. Wink (Just kidding). I just only want to share the  points (actually she grabs the audience with her sharp skills of presentation) what she has been highlighted through her presentation.
302  Other / Serious discussion / Einstein's theory was challenged by a Sri Lankan scientist.... on: July 20, 2018, 03:45:48 PM
As a Sri Lankan I am very proud what she has achieved at her age by being able to challenged one of Einstein's theory...

She is non other than "Asha de Vos", Sri Lankan marine biologist, ocean educator and pioneer of blue whale research within the Northern Indian Ocean. I would like to share one of her talk given at a local TEDx held back in 2014 which was very interesting. She opens us a different angle to see how the small shift of shipping route will reduse the number of whales killed by hitting the ships.

Your thread is really annoying and it doesn't pleasing to anyone whether they interested or not about your website or the services you're offering. It's about big red letters in your post Angry.
304  Other / Meta / Re: Showing I merited 3 people 2 days ago but I never even visited those threads.. on: July 20, 2018, 09:20:43 AM

I always type in websites before I log in. Bitcointalk is always up for me. But thinking about it I did have to log in again several days ago.
Why you even bother to type the "Bitcointalk" in the search bar? I just simply bookmarked the boards where I normally read and post. Then tick the "show bookmarks bar". I only logging with those bookmarked links and problem solved, no phishing links at all Cheesy
305  Other / Meta / Re: Showing I merited 3 people 2 days ago but I never even visited those threads.. on: July 20, 2018, 03:48:36 AM
I'm not sure how your account got involved in this, but the 3 accounts are connected. They're sending merit to each other and probably should be banned.

Merit abuse isn't moderated by the forum.
Oh Oh now it is officially spell out "Do whatever with your Merits, you can sell your merits...you can abuse the Merit system...Who cares?". I think that's not the kind of answer we expected from forum staff. This wait and watch game not any good for the forum. So i think now it's time to introduce at least few guidelines regarding Merit distribution. I hope "Theymos" has his plans in mind. Any system has their pros and cons at the early period of time, but system has to be periodically(can decide the time frame accordingly how system reacts) reviewed. Then amendments, revisions and rules to be introduced with the time. Without those 3 activities most likely system will failed which is what we don't want to happen. Because i'm a believer of that the introduction of Merit system is the best thing happened to the bitcointalk forum.
306  Other / Meta / Re: I've just invented dMerits. on: July 18, 2018, 02:54:37 PM
Yep, I beginning to think that this is the easiest way. Maybe the actual merit sources can propose someone become one. It would be really less messy, but the point was to create a sort of "team", with the idea to get all the merits created distributed among some more boards, local included.
Where I came(Sri Lanka) from actually doesn't have any local board. But there is a "sinhala" thread started by our senior members but i didn't feel to post or even read there since almost all of them are talking only about bounties and airdops. So can we go one more step further for "local threads" where actually didn't have any local board.

I'm thinking about how to initiate a good thread(not the Bountytalk) with senior members for our local community where we can share our knowledge with our native language.

Quote
...and it is going to be difficult for them to rank-up just earning one merit for each incredible post.
Now, of course, they can come in here, but it will imply centralization of a language, and it is far more difficult to express an idea in a foreign language rather than in your own (I struggle with that every single day, jeje).
So true. Sometimes i feeled I haven't been posted what I actually want to express due to language barrier. However I'm trying my best to learn English everyday and I have learned lot by reading threads made by top English posters. When I reading a thread(especially serious discussion board) I used a online dictionary  to find out English terms which not oftenly used in our society.

At the end of the day if we can't change the rules so we have to be changed in order to gain more from forum.
307  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Where do you draw the line, Freedom of Speech/Misinformation on: July 18, 2018, 07:54:48 AM
No authority should exist that claims to know and decide what is truth and what is not.
Actually is there any "Absolute Truth". I don't think so. Truth is also subjective and it is defined according to the standards that we prepared. It can be True for some valid standards and it can be False to another equally valid reference standard while both standards are prepared by us. I think if we can practice the habit of listening to what other peoples have to say regarding any issue which will reduce the day to day problems by big percentage. People can spread the misinformation( If we classified true information as information that are scientifically proved) but at the end of the day we are the people who decide whether it is true or false from a valid reference standards which we knew( That standard also can be amendment or revised in future). I think we should not control the "Freedom of speech" of anyone as a people who still believes in democracy. If we control the Freedom of speech then the society can be goes again to the dictatorship which we actually don't want.

So always listen what others have to say and they can be looking from a different angle where we wouldn't see. I can give you a simple example of what we have taught in our schools. They always taught us 1+1 always equal to 2 and we all are taken it is the absolute truth. But think about one drip of water sums up to a another one drip of water, the answer is not 2 drips of water but 1 drip of water.
308  Other / Meta / Re: Problem with merit on: July 17, 2018, 09:51:08 AM
I suppose those who were using bots in early days and/or had multiple accounts in these forums are being rewarded huh? Even if only a few users buy from them the accounts, they are rewarded.
That's why I used to "spam" about seperating the old rank with the new merit system, giving free merit to spammers just because they registered a few months before the new system is stupid, but it's been a long time now and I've stopped hopping for an update on the system.
Agreed with both hands. I think we should highlight those "Airdrop Merits" and "Earned Merits" separately with the members rank. I think it is OK to give free merits for the members who actively contributes to the forum since its beginning. "Theymose" shouldn't giving away free license to the members who have done nothing to the betterment of forum but just registered few months before the new system implementation with so many alts only for bounty or signature campaigns. I have seen that once a good member is always a good member whether Merits or without Merits. If we implement those changes to the Merit display, it is easy to identify and who are the truly ranked members but not the net rats.
309  Other / Meta / Re: How do I skip the junk posts? (also proposal) on: July 17, 2018, 02:49:21 AM
I'd like to read through threads in their entirety, however there are so many junk posts nowadays that I quit when I have to read more than a few pages.
Yeah so many junk posts made by spammers, so what we should do is avoid SMT as much as possible and try to engage boards like "serious discussions" ,"ivory tower". We can create a long list of spammers, shitposters by simply pressing ignore button when you feeled those posters making spammy posts only. By that way you can avoid lots of underworld freaks.( Think about JC, I think he has the longest ignore list Cheesy)

Quote
It would be nice to have a rating system, and the ability to filter our the junkier posts by selecting the minimum rating of post to read.
But who do the filtering work? Mods even can't handle the amount of reports that have been reported everyday. So that would not be a viable option and also there are so many different sections in bitcointalk which requires number of staff members to filter every posts and rate it.

Quote
Perhaps rating a post should be restricted to Full members and above and the right should be taken away to people with higher ranks that abuse it.
The bolt part doesn't make any sense to me, because becoming a full member or above can't take as a qualification for rating.

Quote
Maybe we can also tag posts by kind of off topic and really relevant from 1-5.
Why even bother for tagging off tofic posts? Just press report to moderator button Cheesy

Quote
Now I might have to read only 50-250 replies to get up to date. (Numbers are made up)
By maintaining ignore list, by pressing report to moderator button, by avoiding SMT, involving "serious discussion" boards will make you able to read actually 4-5 rated posts only. How about that?
310  Other / Meta / Re: Are these posts deserve so much merits ??? on: July 16, 2018, 07:41:59 PM
Well that is why I think that no post in the ANN section should be able to receive any merits. It turns the whole merit system into a joke imho.

I'm also think in that way,
...
<snip>
...
So where can we just write request?
From the last week we have spoken about several and serious matters:
1.- The meta board being contaminated by banned requests and merit seekers, cryers, et al.
2.- The creation of a new kind of merit source.
3.- The serious discussion matter has been pointed before, if my memory serves me good, by AverageGlabella.
4.- The creation of a childboard to accounts issues (by Silent 26).
5.- ANN threads should not be awarded with merits
6.- The posts in the ANN threads should not count as activity
7.- System to be implemented to inquire and take actions against (at least large scale) merit abuse
8.- Merit source applicant should not award any merits for  their thread just for appreciations.
9.- English language posts should not allowed in local boards( may be this is tricky one, but we need to think about why actually admins initiate local boards at the first place)
but others... Huh specially love to hearing from "Theymos". Seems like he is in some kind of inactive mode when it comes to the Merit abuse scenarios.
311  Other / Meta / Re: Are these posts deserve so much merits ??? on: July 16, 2018, 07:01:50 PM
What post would be worth 50 merits?
It's happening in ANN threads where actually most of the underworld Merit abusers still rocks without any punishment.

Check these merit stats of chandra12. The way that member distribute his/her merits just like Newton's third law "every 50 Merits what you got should sent in 25 sMerits per post" Cheesy
312  Other / Meta / Re: [BETA] Signaturion - forum signature interactive editor on: July 16, 2018, 06:22:35 PM
This is really helpful app for me. The real time table insert function solves the problem of hitting the preview button which annoys me when creating tables. So keep it up your good work and hoping you will find a way to integrate ascii images in to your system Wink
313  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: That's how you set up a campaign, well done LoyceV on: July 16, 2018, 05:54:02 PM
Now "LoyceV" is taking signature campaigns into a another dimension. I really like the way you approch by introducing the concept of "earned merit" (not Airdrop Merits). I think you're giving perfect example for how should bounty manager behaved as a legendary (by it means) member.

The another thing I would like to suggest is better to check wether the applicant has been involved in some kind of Merit abuse scenarios previously before your approval(sometimes members will get even 50 Merits for just a redundent post in ANN threads) We need to stop the spammers and well as the Merit abusers.

I hope this will become a really successfull campaign. (may be next time for me Tongue)

314  Other / Serious discussion / Re: A good resource with ICO performance information on: July 16, 2018, 04:22:22 PM
I am looking for financial indicators for finished ICOs. Example: x20 price since ICO.
Maybe https://icomarks.com site will help you. Btw it has nice interface than the other ICO stat sites.
315  Other / Meta / Re: How do I reply on local board if I do not know the language? on: July 15, 2018, 06:48:59 PM

<snip>

Since I do not speak Russian, my reply was in English. My response was not off-topic which leads me to ask one question:

The response was deleted because it was in English?
Yes of course and it's not allowed according to the official unofficial forum rules.

9. Discussions in the main boards must be in english. All other language discussions should be posted in the appropriate Local board.

But sometimes it also has some exceptions.( But I doubted this wasn't in your case)

26. Local thread rules, if stated properly when the thread was started, specific enough and don't conflict with the forum rules, have to be followed.[e]

Quote
How would someone response when they do not know the local language?
I think we don't want to response all the accusations (regardless of it's true or false) made on local boards. If you really want to share your side of story, the better thing is to learn that language and give some punches with their own.

But my openion is if we do the right things why even bother to giving explanations to others that you are doing the right things. Just do the right things(I truly believed you do) and don't try to prove it.

Translated answers also doesn't allowed to post Wink

27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed.
316  Other / Meta / Re: Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards on: July 15, 2018, 01:29:35 PM
I also think it's nothing to do with "Meta"( I mean starting a thread for just complaining about bounty translations). It should be addressed within the "Altcoin Discussion" boards itself also it's upto bounty manager or the ICO team, wether choosing a Google Net Rat or genuine translator. If the team accepts those Google Net Rats for translations better to avoid those scam ICOs.

I don't want to talk about why the social media shunned the ICOs. But we as a responsible members should not stake the credibility of the bitcointalk and it's members for just few ICO tokens which can create out of thin air.

317  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Trading Strategies for Beginners... on: July 15, 2018, 01:00:53 PM
I will be 100% honest, there is no way to be a crypto professional trader unless that you are  copying strategies from other people, the best way to go, is just to make your own strategy and try to modify it to be suitable with your skills and your knowledge

Agreed with both hands and That's why I include this sentence at the beginning Wink

318  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Trading Strategies for Beginners... on: July 14, 2018, 08:51:30 AM
This thread is helpful, but the important thing is: Controlling emotions, that's the most important.
Thanks for your pleasant complement and I also believed that "controlling emotions" is a very important thing we should practised though it's against human natural behavior when it comes to seeing more profits from a trading.
319  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Trading Strategies for Beginners... on: July 14, 2018, 06:37:40 AM
This is friendly "bump"
320  Other / Meta / Re: [PARODY] The Infinity Snap. Bitcointalk edition? on: July 14, 2018, 05:14:30 AM
I truly support your idea about "Infinity snap", but I think it would be better if mods can looking into the members profile and their post history before take any actions. I have looking in to that Reddit subsection and some of the members missed the snapping date(9th july 2018) due to unavoidable personal reasons ( but they all are not the shitposters) and they got banned. So if we going for this kind of system of banning (I believed we should) better to implement a system only filtered the real shitposters but not members who really cares about the forum. Some times they can be inactive some period of time due to personal reasons which didn't mean that they are spammers or shitposters.

One good member actually worth more than hundred of shitposters or spammers.
