301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SIGNS THAT A CRYPTO PROJECT IS A SCAM on: August 06, 2023, 11:24:35 AM
I would rather look first if the project was backed by reputable VCs (venture capitalists) like Binance Labs, Pantera Capital, etc.

Regardless if that project has a nice looking website, Twitter (X) blue account with many followers and engagements, etc., as long there are no venture capitalists claimed to back then, I won’t be investing or engaging on that.

Unverified smart contracts are also a sign of red flag like the latest allegation against Trait Sniper. Many people are going FOMO mode into that airdrop but with many red flags such as their Discord verification pointing towards a phishing site, wallet drainer, etc.

Many factors that we can consider if the project is scam aside from the few points made by the OP.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A advise to my friend about his decision on: August 06, 2023, 11:19:29 AM
Many people lack basic knowledge of bitcoins.
I became interested in this topic when I learned that a friend of mine was so ignorant of bitcoin that he recently received bitcoins from his father, but he had no idea what to do with them. As a result, he tried to reject the inheritance and was spared from having to argue with the lawyer who was reading the deceased father's will, which was being read aloud. Why wouldn't someone, he insisted, give him some houses and perhaps some cash so he could launch a new business?

But while his father decided to give him bitcoins, my friend was furious and even left the house because he believed his late father had given him some money out of hate for him. When my friend came to my house to tell me the story, I encouraged him to collect the coins and learn more about bitcoins, and he was furious to listen to me until I started the show and started explaining it to him. At that point, he was happy and walked back.

I had in my gut feeling about this story being fictitous and you’re just a newbie who recently create an account here. Sorry but I do not believe in OP’s made-up story.

We have yet to determine about his true intentions here in this forum, but we’ll keep an eye on his latest moves.

And if this was indeed true, the OP might possibly take advantage by handing him over the “keys to the kingdom” if that friend needs his help to withdraw, etc.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bold step to invest my fiat in Bitcoin on: August 05, 2023, 04:33:58 PM
Hello guys my curiosity has really gotten the best of me. I was so eager to get involved in the trending Bitcoin currency that is everywhere in my locality. Bitcoin is acceptable in so many small scale business around me in my locality, I mean I had to just ask what was this all about and finally I was introduced here and since my coming I have Learnt alot and still in the process of learning. But I came to understand few things here which gave me the courage to wanting to purchase Bitcoin and keep it so I can see some tangible profit when the price go up . Although the purchase is small but you won't blame me as it's a first timer situation and in addition to the fact that the funds are not available enough for me but I just want to let everyone know am also a Bitcoin holder now and willing to purchase more as bitcoin is also a financial gateway to freedom of saving fund. But I really had to take my Time to understand the whole volatility of Bitcoin before taking this bold step.

So everyone should join me and celebrate this purchase as it went through without any stress and please help me show my image for other viewers as my rank prohibits me to

https://i.imgur.com/NiPto8D.jpeg

If I only understood Bitcoin last 2014, I could have put my extra money for buying sats instead of a full 1 BTC. I thought back then that it must be 1 BTC but I was not educated about buying in fractions which are satoshis.

That time Bitcoin was just below $600. When I came back in mid-2017, BTC's price was at $10k+ and I had nothing but regrets.

It's good that you have bought some small amount in sats, but make sure that you fully acknowledge the risks.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Layerzero Speculation airdrop on: August 05, 2023, 04:01:40 PM
Layerzero is looking big airdrops and i made more than 10 transaction and generated 3k$ volume and my target is 50 transaction and 10k$ volume this year.
Thats good to hear. But since there is no telling when or if snapshots has been taken this will be a long run. For sure its not done yet as the ceo seems wanted to make this a long journey and see how many platforms they can accomodate and using layerzero technology.  Maybe better to interact a lot on their partners or trusted affiliated projects especially stargate which we know thir first dapp.

Yes hopefully still snapshot not has been taken. Most of time the snapshot date is one day before TGE or listing news. I have interected with official dap and now partner dapp will be next to interect with it

Voting may be also one criteria for airdrop and for this I have staked stg tokens and voted more than five proposals

Can't afford to generate thousands of volume yet in Layer Zero. Although I do have transactions generated and validated in the LayerZero network, I was hoping that I can have more funds to play in their network.

If I was not hacked and lost $5k+ last April, I could have afford at least $1k to spare in doing massive Layer Zero transaction volumes from time to time.

These 3rd party bridges like Orbiter, Symbiosis, Syncswap, etc., with no token is something that I am speculating for a potential airdrop when their token launches just like Uniswap did years ago.
305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Deciding Between Mining and Direct Investment on: August 05, 2023, 03:48:29 PM
Buying bitcoin directly for your investment is better and it requires less time, less resources and less skills. With mining, you will need many things, location for your mining farm, technical set up and maintenance, safety for your farm and human who operate it for you and lastly it requires time to get bitcoin from mining.

You must get a break even before get a profit from your initial investment. It will be months and not like with investment, less time, less resource and if you buy around the corner of market break out, you will not have to wait too long.

I argue. I totally understand the point you have shared so far.
But, as I said in m previous post, Mining Bitcoin is more than just profit. Buying Bitcoin does not guarantee that it will give you profit within a certain time. It can take longer to get ROI if someone buys Bitcoin. The opposite happens too. Someone can get ROI within a month. It depends on the market. But as I said, Mining is fun. If you are tech geek people who love to play with your gear setup and maintain your rigs, mining is perfect for you. If I had cheap electricity like OP and had enough rigs, I would mine for the long term.

A mining rig will generate Bitcoin for you until it breaks.  A miner will mine Bitcoin with their ASICs until it gets too old and unprofitable to mine. If someone mines Bitcoin just for profit only, I am not sure if this is perfect for them or not. But the perfect thing is mine Bitcoin and hold it just like holders hold their Bitcoin.

Mining would be no problem if the electricity and maintenance costs are cheap. here are people who are mining for profit or for fun purposes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and we will respect that.

I would love mining some BTCs but the electricity rates here aren't cheap especially for guys who just live in a 3rd world country. And of course, no guarantee as well for profit if you choose to buy and hold BTCs.

We should acknowledge the risks and learn how to manage them at the same time in both buying and hold & to mine BTCs.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High gas fee for sending token is still a problem on: August 05, 2023, 03:34:13 PM
This one really happens unexpectedly when there's more usage and traffic within the network. Not just Ethereum alone, but some L2s under it.

Like Linea for example, I frequently experienced congestion so I have no choice but to always speed up the transaction and pay additional gas fee. Same thing to Polygon zkEVM where I also experienced high gas fees from time to time.

This is way out of our control. Even if Ethereum is now at proof of stake (PoS) consensus, the gas fees aren't that cheap but much better than the gas fees of PoW days.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Layerzero Speculation airdrop on: August 04, 2023, 03:37:37 PM
If you guys want the best chances of getting this airdrop or Zksync. You should try and use your address on the ethereum network. From what I recall ARB didn't have this as an requirement but I feel the airdrop for LayerZero and Zksync will be checking to see if the main ethereum chain has transactions.

When they see that the address was used only a few times and only on one network that wasn't Ethereum, then they will disqualify you or they will just lower the airdrop amount. Most people won't qualify this way most likely since they are farmers and there is no reason for them to use the main ethereum chain.

As for using the zkSync network, you can use the official bridge https://bridge.zksync.io/withdraw, but not for L1->L2, but on the contrary L2->L1. Thus, the cost of a transaction from the zkSync network to the Ethereum network will be 40 cents, instead of $15.

I have never used their official bridge yet. I mostly use Orbiter Finance and Symbiosis to bridge to and from zkSync Era and other chains while I am farming retroactive drops here and there.

But this one got me interested however that it only cost approximately 40 cents to transfer from zkSync Era to Ethereum.

As for Linea mainnet when trying their native bridge, I usually waited like 20 minutes before it credited to my balance. But using Orbiter however only takes me a few minutes to wait.
the huge downsides in using 3rd party bridges like the one you mentioned that it possibly didn't count for the airdrops eligibility of bridging the assets from ethereum to these 2nd layer.
after all using the official ones you are executing their official smart contract which might have strong relation towards the qualifications and eligibility of some address in the future airdrops, if they
ever gonna held airdrops.
i'd just say maybe you should try using their official ones.

I would try for at least once in zkSync’s main bridge. I’ve done that in Linea mainnet when I am using their own native bridge but took me like almost 30 minutes to wait in bridging mainnet ETH to Linea ETH.

As for 3rd party bridges like Orbiter and Symbiosis, they do not have their respective token yet. But I believe they would reward early adopters who have used their bridges once their token officially launches. These are just my own speculations.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 04, 2023, 03:30:21 PM
If only I could travel back in time like more than a decade ago, I would choose both buying and mining BTC. Why? Because that time BTC was insanely cheap and the mining was easy where only a handful are just sharing in the mempool.

But fast forward to today? Not a chance to plan mining BTC because the mining difficulty keeps leveling up every halving period. As for buying BTC?

As long I can afford to buy, doing DCA and acknowledging risks, then it’s good to go.
309  Local / Pilipinas / Re: May Mga Influencer Ba Tayo Na Tutok Sa Cryptocurrency? on: August 04, 2023, 03:23:19 PM
I would rather follow those crypto influencers na nangin ethical, helpful at nagbigay ng totoong value sa community rather na mag hard shill lang ng projects. Yung mga more sa tutorials, guides, unbiased reviews, insights and analysis.

Luis is one of those that I highly respected. No question ako sa kanya. Met him nung Philippine Web3 Festival and he was approachable and a down to earth guy.

As for Kookoo I am kinda neutral lang but he’s a cool guy when I’ve met him a few times at na invite ko pa sa aming small meetup last year sa Cebu.

As for Marvin, he still has long ways to go to be someone that I can really find value kahit gaano pa karami subs nya.

And as for others naman, I do not really follow because more sila sa pag hard shill ng mga ponzis at rug pulls.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Layerzero, Zksync airdrop hype over, is it next Zetachain ? on: August 04, 2023, 03:05:54 PM
As we all know still people are much in the hype of the upcoming layerzero and Zksync airdrop. I saw most people are spending 3000$+ in gas fees on their main net by expecting 10000$+ airdrop. But all forget about the Zetachain ecosystem. They are planning to release their Main net in q3 2023. ZetaChain ecosystem is something, also their funding and partners are also cool. So what are your thoughts about this?

I'm following Zetachain since 2021. Is anyone here trying their testnet and getting all the Galaxy nfts? They released some new tasks from layer 3 and also introduce a guide pin. Since it's layer 1 I think they will give an airdrop for users who are with them since the start. Did you try their testnet? How about your thoughts here?

I am swapping at least once to earn 7,000 ZPs on Zetachain Labs’ platform every week and other Zetachain related tasks. Also I am farming in other testnets like Scroll Alpha, Fuel, Taiko and Shardeum. Any testnet that is legitimately backed by Binance Labs and other big venture capitalists.

But I am also farming on mainnets like LayerZero, zkSync Era, Linea, Polygon zkEVM, etc. Regardless if it may cost me gas fees, NFT minting and passes, I am betting on the chances as an early adopter like what Arbitrum and Optimism have done last time.

https://twitter.com/SeiDailyTK/status/1686272439817527296?s=20

On top of that, other Sei projects like Tatami Games at Sei Monsters na qualified din ako sa unang airdrop snapshot nila bago lumabas ang mainnet. CoralX under Sei isa pa din ito under my watchlist of having good potential rin.

Plan ko rin gagawa ng thread as my entry para mangin officer o ambassador ako ng Sei.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There are a lot of scams on Twitter, and illegal links steal your assets. on: August 03, 2023, 04:11:49 PM
A few days ago, I saw a KOL with a large number of fans on Twitter. He was recommending a project recommended by many KOLs. As long as he followed his guidelines, he could get more airdrop tokens. As a result, when I clicked on the link, connect When my little fox wallet is signed and confirmed, my assets will be reset to zero. I checked the data on the chain, and in a short period of time, he actually defrauded more than 20,000 US dollars in digital currency, which is terrible.

I am well aware of it that’s why we have to be very careful in clicking links there. Make sure that we must start making a strong habit of checking Twitter (X.com) handles to see if they are correct or not and if it has either Blue or Yellow check mark.

In my own profile, I got daily notifications from time to time tagging me in their fake airdrops. I just didn’t mind them. Also part of the habit is to disconnect to sites if not in use and revoke permissions as well via Revoke.cash or De.Fi scanner. Better safe than sorry.
313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn from cryptocurrency as a starter? on: August 03, 2023, 03:42:11 PM
There are some ways that you can earn your very first cryptocurrency as a starter if you don’t have any funds to invest yet.

I would like to share some ways that you can start aside from just buy and hold and trading:

1) Apply for remote work in a crypto-related company (especially paying you in crypto)

The easiest you can apply as a starter with or without experience are brand ambassadors, community moderators, community managers, customer support, etc.

2) Offer your services and accepting crypto as payment option

If you have certain skills like article writing, video editing, graphic designing, developing Dapps, etc., you can make a portfolio about it and present it to your clients who are looking for such services and prefers crypto payment.

3) Affiliate, reseller and referral programs

As an affiliate, you mainly promote their product or service to the customers in exchange of getting paid in commissions by means of crypto payment. Referral programs is where you can get commissions from the ones you referred who either completed certain tasks, converting sales, trading volume, etc.

Let’s say you have referred someone to sign up under you in Binance. You will get commissions from that person for every trade regardless of the coin or token.

4) Joining AMAs and giveaways

There are many AMA and giveaway events in crypto nowadays until now. You can find them mostly in Twitter (X.com), Taskon.xyz, Galxe, etc.

5) Apply as scholar or rent NFTs in Web3 games

If you can’t afford to buy a single NFT in-game, you can always apply for scholarship or rent NFTs from the owners in exchange of earning a portion of their profits in crypto. Games like Axie Infinity, Spider Tanks, Gods Unchained, Splinterlands, etc., are some of the examples.

6) Incentivized testnets

So far this is the “trend” of earning cryptos by just simply an early adopter by interacting in their testnet before the mainnet will launch. Basically you will be receiving crypto airdrops from them for just participating in their incentivized testnet campaigns.

Some of the testnets that are having ongoing campaigns now are Venom Wallet, Fuel Wallet, Scroll Alpha, Shardeum, Taiko, etc. You can hunt them mostly on Twitter (X.com), Galxe, Zealy, Taskon.xyz, etc.

Hope this helps you a bit to kickstart your crypto journey from scratch. Good luck!
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: August 03, 2023, 03:02:06 PM
The first time I have used a Bitcoin machine was in April 2019. It was in Singapore when I have primarily attended the Blockchain Life 2019 conference as well as other side events there.

I remembered a mall named Plaza Singapura where a store that we can buy and sell gold has their own Bitcoin ATM.

I’ve attempted to withdraw my BTCs to SGDs with the help of my close friend. Took me an hour of waiting until it’s finally withdrawn.

But for now I am holding BTCs so no plans to sell or withdraw.

316  Local / Pilipinas / Re: US DoJ ay nag drop charges na laban kay SBF on: August 02, 2023, 07:17:41 AM
Sa pagkaitindi ko one of many pa lang ng mga charges ang na dropped laban sa kanya. Ibig sabihin meron pa ibang charges that he still needs to face for wire fraud, money laundering at iba pa.

Buti na lang hindi ako tumalpak dyan sa FTX nor registering an account or trade sa kanilang exchange. I would really doubt na he’ll be cleared of all charges as soon as possible.

Marami pa yan so SBF hindi pa siya nangin out of the woods pa.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Launchpool offers double project Sei and Cyberconnect on: August 02, 2023, 07:11:24 AM
One thing is for sure, Binance is always ahead on trends even when it comes to this project who likely to have rumored on airdrops. I think this is just the beginning of things when it comes to bull market, we've seen this on 2019-2021 and likely it's happening once again.

As for Sei, I'm glad about starting to farm them in Blocked.cc and have completed 16 of 18 missions (including Humanode). However, I am not sure if that includes being an officer or ambassador role on Discord though as I only have a Crew role there.

Let's just hope that this would finally be worth our time in grinding these Sei missions in Blocked.
I think it's already too late now for this, am I right? Good thing that you started, others haven't had the time to scratch the surface and I think even with that you'll be rewarded on it.

Unfortunately the Sei missions in Blocked.cc have ended last June. But I think you can still use the Sei bridge to at least interact and hoping that you would get a portion of their airdrop. As it is still under the testnet, you can bridge from Polygon Mumbai testnet to Sei testnet.

Why I believe that they’re going to have an airdrop? It’s because of the Sei foundation official Twitter (X) account’s statement here:

https://twitter.com/sei_fnd/status/1640855848120377344?s=61&t=6PFitUK4YQvupu3PxlJoIg

Also search on Twitter (X) about Sei related projects who are offering NFT minting activities that would serve as interacting in the Sei testnet. I think Space ID is having a testnet Sei mint event that is ongoing so you may not want to miss it. Just search it.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Borrow to Buy Bitcoin is Not Advisable.Consider the Factors Before Doing That. on: August 02, 2023, 07:03:14 AM
Yes as the subject said, using borrowed money to buy bitcoin is not good idea because the interest is accumulating every week/month and you don't know when the bull will come and even if you know, you will not know how much it will be. And assuming you took a loan of $400 to pay back within 3 years and the interest rate is $2 weekly and in the 3 years period, bitcoin has not reach the speculated price to sold your bitcoin to pay your loan. Or when you sell, you get the exact amount of the loan, or 1% profit from the sell and you pay off the loan and there is nothing left for you to start over. Is that a good investment? No. So there are many factors one can consider before using borrow money for bitcoin investment. You have to consider the duration of the loan, the probability outcome of bitcoin at the end of the loan year, and the interest rate accumulated at the time to pay back the loan.

When you have done your homework well and you see that you can use the loan to invest on bitcoin and there will be no problem at the end and you will have some changes remain in your wallet then you are free but if not, it will shock you and you will be frustrated so prevention is better than cure as they said. Therefore using loan for investment is not advisable. Ordinarily, you cannot just come to the cryptocurrency Ecosystem space without proper planning and started investing, it is not done in that way, at least calm down to study how things are done in the environment, making some analysis, compare and contrast some of the risk involved then if it is good then you key into it and if it is not then you look for an alternative way to invest in bitcoin.

I came up with this topic because I was planning to borrow money to invest in bitcoin but when I looked at the risk involved, I have to give up the borrowing plan.

I have encountered a lot of my friends, relatives, colleagues, etc., who are trying to open up about borrowing money just to buy Bitcoin.

But I educated them about the greater risks if they do insist to borrow money in buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and it is totally up to them if they want to take the risk or not.

I have never borrowed money just for the sake of buying Bitcoin while I was broke years ago. I earned it by just contributing in an esports blog who paid me a few bucks worth of BTC for every post until it stopped.

Never ako nag lapag ng email addresses ko in public for the sake of airdrop. Hanggang ngayon marami pa rin na mga kababayan natin sa Facebook, X, Reddit at iba pang platform na kailangan pa rin mag reply with email address or iba pang mga importante na detalye.

Never na rin ako nag click links sa email at saka nag double check na rin ng email handle if official ba or not.

Kaya extra ingat na tayo lahat dahil the hackers and scammers are getting smarter, creative na at nangin innovative pa.

Earning merit is really hard this days , since there are lots of things they consider for post to be meritable,
I Have been here for a year now, and still have a lot things to learn, but thank you for those who supported me to reach for where I am now,
but for me this is still a long journey, but its all worth it, thank you for appreciating my post, and giving me information's that i don't know, it will help me along the way on achieving my goals in crypto and this forum.
To be able to share and help others, those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.

That's great to hear that you have achieved that number. Remember, it is better to have a mindset about contributing without expecting anything in return (unless you are in a signature campaign of course).

I do not post for the sake of merits. I just treated that as a bonus perk while enjoying my time contributing in this forum.

Because no matter how helpful and valuable your posts are in Bitcointalk, you cannot expect a lot to merit them.

Focus on giving more value and not for the purpose of gaining merits.
