So what's the status? Any updates. When will relaunch be?

ETA right now is 7 May (tomorrow night or early hours of the next morning).
Of course there will be a relaunch. AC2 is needed and will coming soon. Cool

No actually. It will be a hard fork. Please refer to the first post or the website.

So - it had no reason to exist the first time. It has no reason to exist now. But since people invested a lot of money they'd like to get it relisted so they can dump the shit out if it and recoup their losses.

Yeah, that's pretty much the whole problem with this.

BTW, you do know there are reasons certain cryptocurrencies exist, right? You must understand they aren't all pump and dumps right? And you also must know that not all altcoins are SCAMS that ripped off a lot of people?

The crypto world should be rid of crap like this. It never will when people will go to all lengths just to justify their desire to push a loss on someone else.

Oh well, I said my bit. It's not like I'm standing in the way of any of it. I just gave my honest opinion. I feel bad for the next group of people who buy this coin just to realize they're holding the bag. Good luck with the relaunch!

Just to confirm that by this logic, no coin has a reason to exist. The promotion of Asia Coin was not that people or continent of Asia need a coin (unlike other country coins), as the promotion of Black coin was not that the colour of Black needs a coin. This is not what attracted the investors and I think what attracted people (fair specifications + high staking) will exist after the hard fork.

I hope that you will see in the future that our intentions are not to push losses on someone else, some of the people helping us out do not even held any AC. and I hope that when and if your honest opinion changes, you will write about it on your blog, as you have done so far.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 05:34:39 PM
The questions have been asked again and again. Let's start with the most basic one. Why does 'Asia' need its own altcoin? You know it's a continent, right? Why did this coin ever exist in the first place and why does it need to exist in the afterlife, especially at the expense of many other altcoins that have been ignored by exchanges?

Why does the colour black needs its own altcoin? Why does *doge* needs its altcoin? I'm not making an argument that because Asia needs an altcoin, we are going to revive Asia Coin. All we're saying here is that Asia Coin was a coin that was launched and attracted a lot of interest and investors (~1000 BTC trade volume on many days). Bad things happened and a lot of people lost their investments, we think we can save Asia Coin and conitnue to support it because it was always interesting, it was fair (in specification), and we can make it what the investors wanted it to be. As you can see this thead is not even self-moderated (unlike many other coins) so that people can ask questions and be sure that their questions will be seen and answered.

We don't think we are doing anything at the expense of any other altcoins. I'm really shocked that you think there's something intrinsically wrong and questionable in what we're doing.

Yes you are right, you answered my questions and the questions from many other ppl here. That's, indeed, something very positiv.
´
Are you from the asian continent?

*edit* also here you are right, indeed no need for big fonts Wink

Yes I am from Asia myself, though I live in Europe now (studying) with every intension to go back when I graduate.

Your whole theory is based on "The bad old dev" didnt send them there already?
And so you asked them?
Feels like there is sth missing in that story.
Please don't take it personal. It's nothing agains you in person, but someone has to ask some questions!

The "bad old dev" is not my theory, is a fact well-known. I think your objection is that you don't know whether the new developers are good or bad, which is something you need to judge based on what you observe.

I have been completely honest from the beginning and answered every single question posted here to the best of my ability. I also answered your previous question with a reasonable answer (at least I think so). If you have any other questions, I invite you to ask them clearly  Smiley Screaming (super big bold fonts) is not the way to start a conversation if your intensions are pure.

Exactly. Nothing personal, but everyone needs to start asking questions before getting scammed again on the same coin. http://altcoinherald.com/scam-coin-get-relisted-exchanges-scamming/

Please ask questions, not make accusations without asking questions or waiting for answers first.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Serious question on: May 06, 2014, 05:20:25 PM
So you are one of the DEVs of the new asiacoin?

So who is makeing profit now on c-cex? You?
You are right we need a real journalism. But its not as easy as you said here.

You think, you are doing sth good for the community. I say, you might be an even bigger scammer. You could have spoken with C-Cex for allowing to trade again. So you can buy Asiacoin"1" much cheaper than like it was before the disaster.
Then you start your "Asiacoin"2"" relaunch. And ofc, you wouldn't have scammed, but you could have bought some Asiacoins much cheaper for "exchangeing" them for your own pos coin?

Sounds strange for me, in any way.

I am one of the people coordinating the new development team, I'm not a developer so to speak (I don't code). Our advice to C-Cex and other exchanges was to suspend trades altogether until we release the fix, this is public on our thread in case you have doubts.

It is your right to think whatever you want Smiley I'm doing what I think is the right thing to do at this time and I hope to prove to the community that we are trying to do something good and benefitial for everyone in the cryptocurrency community, not only Asia Coin holders.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 05:09:41 PM
I am not sure if we should trust that project or not.

I only smell another scam.

And why i c-cex allowing to trade with AC but i am not able to send my fucking more than 50k asiancoins to them?HuhHuh WHY? Only because more scam incomming? hm?
Ppl trading there with coins, markets increasing again only for some "special" traders?
What the fuck is this. If you allow to trade, then allow it to everyone or DON'T ALLOW IT

Because we asked them NOT to accept new deposits.

The reason is that until the time that we void the premined coins, they can still be moved around. As long as the move is between personal wallets, we can void the coins easily but if the original developer decided to move even more coins to C-Cex and sell them, it's not good as more honest buyers would have paid for coins that are not meant to exist. This has been explained multiple times in the past 2-3 pages.

We shared the same logic with all other exchanges, and they have all agreed that this is the right thing to do until the fix for wallet is released. Some completely suspended trades (which I agree with), C-Cex decided to only suspend deposits, which is good enough for us.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Serious question on: May 06, 2014, 05:05:00 PM
Such a good point. And why would an exchange allow a relisting when they're charging others for votes? http://altcoinherald.com/scam-coin-get-relisted-exchanges-scamming/  Grin

Articles like this are the reason I keep saying that we need true journalism in the cryptocurrency world.

Instead of focusing on the fact that the greatest scam in recent times is completely reversable (benefits of cryptocurrency), and people's investments can be recovered, and proof that the community are the people who own a cryptocurrency, not the developer, all good things for both Asia Coin and the whole cryptocurrency community, the article goes onto criticizing the people who want to do the impossible and their efforts - making Asia Coin what the community wants it to be, rather than what its creator made it to be. The fact that it's not doable on the stock market, but doable here, is a positive statement for cryptocurrency, not a criticism of the efforts of people who want to do it here.

We need a volunteer who has pool managing experience and/or pool development experience.

Please PM me if you have experience. We have excellent plans.

Question for DEVs. Are you still on target to release the patch on 7 May??

Yes I believe so. We've done a lot of the work already, consulted experts and now are in the security testing phase.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 02:29:07 PM
The devs should tell C-CEX to take AC off their exchange until the patch is implemented.  The scammer with the premined coins is likely dumping them while others are buying the *hit.  This will dilute the real AC coins even further while lining his pockets with even more money.

STOP TRADING until the patch is in!!

Deposits are disabled on C-Cex, no worries Smiley I advise people not to trade before we release the fix anyway, as I believe the trades now are not at the coins true value.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 02:22:05 PM
Do you imply that they might not have all the coins deposited available for withdraw?

What else could i imply?  Grin

There was rumors that they may not have all the coins they say they have. I thought it was FUD at the moment. Now, i tend to believe this rumors.

The truth is that AC, scam or not, is the propriety of the people who bought them. The wallet is working fine and people who have the coins in their wallet can stake them at the moment.

I think the main reason is that they made their wallets offline just to be on the safe side. That also explains why deposits made after a certain time is not showing up on Cryptsy.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 01:14:15 PM
@ Maestro1 Can you make a countdown till the coin goes live again.  Grin Or do you have a day + time so I can make one.

ETA is tomorrow, when the work finishes (most likely late hours of the night or early hours of the next morning as developers work late at nights!).

has anyone checked out europecoin? launching on friday https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=594797.0
i'm pretty sure that the dev is the same as asiacoin. Just look at the website http://www.europe-coin.com/ looks like the same website as asiacoin, with some changes. can anyone else verify that?

I can't speculate but I strongly suggest people to look into their source code when it's released and if there's something hidden there, expose it very early on.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 12:30:08 PM
Some questions:

1. What is the purpose of that list everybody wants to be added to? I see names with numbers, and names without numbers. If the list had some mathematical purpose, shouldn't all the numbers in it be exact and verified? Should I be listed with my mere 10 500 AC?

2. The site has a nice modern look, a little bit Spotify-ish Smiley But why the icon on the Firefox tab shows white "G" in a black circle? Maybe it should show white "AC" in red circle.

I really was disapointed when the scam was revealed and AC delisted on major exchanges, but I'm starting to regain faith after seeing what's being done, and especially how fast things develop here. I feel like you guys are making history in the crypto-world. When all about this project is done and the news spread around on blogs and crypto-sites, I'm sure more and more people will be joining AsiaCoin just to be a part of crypto-history and one day say to themselves: "I was part of the revivial of that coin. Good times..."

Keep up the good work. What you've done so far is more than everybody has ever been expecting to happen with AC after all.

1. I think it's mostly psychological, and for the people to know that they're not alone and not to lose faith. I mean, seeing a long list of people with significant investments in the same thing helps people realize that as a community and all of us together, we can save the coin.

I think something that a lot of people, especially those looking at us from the outside, don't realize is that this isn't just some people trying to save their investment. This is a great example of why cryptocurrency is important. This shows that the community is far more important than the developers, and that even in a worst-case scenario that the original developers created a coin to scam and get people's investments, the community can take over and save it. I think this can be an example in cryptocurrency debates for years to come, in response to people who claim that it's unreliable.

That's why I think the whole cryptocurrency community should support the revival of Asia Coin. It is good for the whole ecosystem. It increases the confidence in cryptocurrency, and it will be benefitial for all altcoins. I think this is what cryptocurrency blogs and news outlets should focus on when they cover the story of Asia Coin, rather than speculating whether the trade volumes are going to be as much as they were or whether it is just people refusing to accept their loss. We need better journalists covering cryptocurrency.
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AC] Official Asia Coin Revival | Hard Fork and Voiding Pre-Mine on: May 06, 2014, 12:18:40 PM
I personally think a swift change PoS rate from 70-100% to 2-5% is not a good idea, it's a very big change for a coin and its specification. I very much prefer a more slow gradual decrease on shorter intervals (e.g. instead of jumping from 100% in year 1 to 2% in year 2, we can do a slow decrease every 1-2 months until we get to 2% within 2-3 years).

I don't think the original developer thought about the long-term PoS issues of the coin, this is evident from the code he wrote but this is something that we need to decide.

I have a little bit of this nonsense coin on Cryptsy. Can someone explain if I will ever be able to sell this coin again or if if my coins are just stuck in imaginary limbo forever?

How long are we looking at this 're-launch' taking? Will the market just magically re-open for me on cryptsy and allow trading again?

Anyone care to explain in simple terms when I should expect my AsiaCoins to be worth anything again and not 0?

Dazed & Confused in Texas

ATX

Everything is explained on the first post, and on the website's news page and FAQ:

http://thecoin.asia/news
http://thecoin.asia/faq

The market value of Asia Coin will depend on how the community will react, we are doing everything we can to increase the value of the coin (that includes setting up and promoting multipools, as well as making contact with various exchanges and payment processors to include Asia Coin). But in the end, it will up to the community to see how much they are happy to sell their Asia Coins for. Cryptsy, Mintpal and Bter.com have confirmed that they will resume AC trades once the issue is resolved.

All I can say is that we are fully committed for a long term support of the project, and after we fix the issue, there will be nothing wrong with Asia Coin that endangers its long term success but in the end it's the community that will decide on the worth of the coins.

The value of Asia Coin was around 1200-1300 when the premine news was hit and I believe when we fix the issue, nobody should agree to sell for any less. That is my opinion.

no pos,no mutilpool?

Please read the first post, and the website.

i saw that you want to change the pos rate; i think it's bad because people are buying on specs; fixing the blockchain is ok but changing conditions after all that shit; i think it's a bad idea.

let's +1 if you agree that will be easier to count  Tongue

good luck dev team

cheers

We don't want to change anything, some people suggested a change in PoS rate, so we put it up for debate and asked people to share their opinions Smiley

Hi guys, is there any evidence that the old wallet contains keyloggers or malware to steal other coins from other wallets? I can't get a straight answer on this. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

I don't think there's any evidence that the old wallet specifically contained anything that could steal other coins (and never seen any report of it), but a couple of people found some questionable things in memory when the wallet was running.

This will still continue our PoS?

Yes.
