Please post it again or link it (I'm too lazy to search for it), maybe we could make a funny meme out of it  Cool

It was defintely not trendon. Not really fair to take things out on a baby
302  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Reminder: It is quick and easy to report internet scams to the FBI on: September 13, 2012, 06:52:44 PM
Alternatively you could avoid bringing legal attention to bitcoin by using your brain to avoid getting scammed.
BINGO!

Whats wrong with legal attention? A scam is a scam regardless. Just because bitcoins were used does not make any difference. Obviously I agree that those who were scammed are not the brightest bunch and their money is gone, but if people are allowed to get away with fraud, it will never end.
Do you pay taxes from your bitcoin-related profits?

If I ever cash out, sure. Bitcoin is also going to be short-lived as a tax-evasion tool. It's not like the govt doesn't know about it.

If you don't like Bitcoin's inflation algorithm you can always start using one of the other cryptocurrencies which have different policies.

I like it. But I don't think that we MUST follow the plan for 100%. I doubt that Satoshi was so genius.

BTC21 million isnt cool. You know whats cool? BTC21 billion

why don't they just buy $40b of chevy volts, fill them with iphone 5s, solyndra solar panels, and corn ethanol, and then set them all on fire every month
307  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trendon Shavers/Pirate ~ New Info on: September 13, 2012, 04:27:02 PM
If it ends up this was a ponzi there are going to be hardly any funds to seize.
I don't understand why. Of course I am convinced he doesn't have anywhere near 500k, but still .. he ran away with a huge sum of bitcoins and if he hasn't spent them yet (quite unlikely if you ask me) there's still a (theoretical) chance to get a considerable portion of them back.

I only doubt the community has enough balls to make him pay in the first place. They're just doing some ritual dances around photos of his family and nothing happened. Damn, some of you live a few hours away from him. Why not pay him a personal visit? If you break his jaw without witnesses at least he'll understand you're serious.

I'm sure he's monitoring these threads and so far there has been nothing he should be worried about.

No amount of bitcoins/money is worth committing a felony premeditated assault over.

Here is an online submission of information in cases of internet fraud
http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx

FAQ:
http://www.ic3.gov/faq/default.aspx

Scammers are often dangerous sociopaths who will continue to lie, cheat, and steal from others. These people feel no empathy and will continue to generate harm in their communities until they are stopped. Help put an end to these parasites in our community and realize that a "scammer tag" on these forums is not a real punishment to speak of. As taxpayers, we have a right to use law enforcement to put an end to rampant fraud in bitcoin.
309  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trendon Shavers/Pirate ~ New Info on: September 13, 2012, 03:56:38 PM
Ok. So he's doxxed. Now you're doxxing the rest of his family, but you still haven't answered my question : what are you going to do besides doxxing? Are you going to beat the bitcoins out of him? Sue him (ALREADY!!)? Cut his head off with a chainsaw and fuck his bleading throat?

What is so ridiculous about wanting to sue him?

This is the USA, where (despite all the e-anarchist teenagers on here) we have laws and it is relatively easy to file a lawsuit against someone who has stolen from you.
There is absolutely nothing ridiculous about it. However, it's been a fairly long time since he's disappeared and there's no lawsuit filed to this day. I get the feeling that you're not going to do anything. Not even sue him.

On a side note, if he lived in my country I would pay some Ukrainians or gypsies to break his legs. It's super-effective  Wink

Can someone with a pirate account (preferably several of you) submit one of these?

http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx

This website looks like geocities from 1998, but I believe its actually where you submit ponzi accusations to the correct law enforcement authorities. This is a better avenue than hiring gypsies or Ukrainians (LOL)

311  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Operators - PLEASE BAN & BLOCK GPUMAX getwork/proxy access to your pool on: September 13, 2012, 08:22:45 AM
Obviously there would be no real risk unless a very large percentage of the pool was using GPUMAX, which is unlikely.

Risk of what?

risk of GPUMAX operators having control over your hashing power...
312  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Operators - PLEASE BAN & BLOCK GPUMAX getwork/proxy access to your pool on: September 13, 2012, 08:02:00 AM
so
let me get this straight
a bunch of people invested money they couldn't afford to lose in a "too good to be true scheme" - against the advice of many of the smarter "community" members
the scheme went bad
people lost money (unexpected???)
Now without any legal justification you are asking pool operators to block a Bitcoin business that has done nothing wrong apart from paying miners a few days late a couple of times and being associated with this Pirate fellow.
Some interesting allegations/conspiracy theories don't make fact.

"Help miners reclaim their power"
Sorry? I help miners reclaim their power by blocking them from my pool? - how about miners are adults and can make their own choices? they have the power to choose, how is forcing a choice on them..huh what???
many miners have already used the power they have and moved from GPUMAX, just as they do with any pool or other mining operation they don't feel comfortable with.

Are you saying any pool operators that don't block gpumax are untrusted? if so by who? you?

Pools are not the "Bitcoin police"

I am truly sorry that people have lost money in Pirates venture, I really don't see blocking GPUMAX will help fix that.
best wishes
Graet

The goal is to raise awareness, and possibly create a list of GPUMAX-free pools that people should prefer since they do not have known scammers in control of the coins at any time.
the logic in this thread confuses me, pirate has nothing to do with my pool nor control over any of my pools coins.
some miners mine on my pool through gpumax and get paid by my pool, when people run leases on my pool they make a user account and get paid for those shares by my pool to the wallet they nominate .
GPUMAX pays miners for leased shares - nothing to do with the pool
tell me what scammer has control of coins on my pool please!!!!

please please I beg of you all do some research into how stuff works before making up imaginary scenarios and inflaming even further the level of crap around this situation

raise awareness? It is a bit hard to miss...

Obviously there would be no real risk unless a very large percentage of the pool was using GPUMAX, which is unlikely.

315  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Operators - PLEASE BAN & BLOCK GPUMAX getwork/proxy access to your pool on: September 13, 2012, 06:06:35 AM
In light of recent events, I would plead to all Pool Operators to Ban and/or Block access to your Mining Pools from the GPUMAX proxy getwork system.

Please show the community at large, that you as a Pool Op will not support a user such as Trendon Shavers (pirateat40) who is responsible for defrauding the community in a theft of Bitcoins worth anywhere from 1 million to 5 million (as claimed by pirate himself) US Dollars.

Trendon has claimed to have the community's 500,000 Bitcoins at his disposal from the failed Bitcoin Savings & Trust fiasco, so please help the community to take a stand.

It seems as though even with the dissapearance of Trendon and the closing and default of Bitcoin Savings & Trust, GPUMAX has been able to continue operating as if nothing had happened. Please help stop it now.

Thank you for your time.

I am curious, if the gov does not see this as money, how can it be fraud?...serious question...

i mean if we started trading tree bark and pretending it was money...wtf would the law do if i stole your bark?

If you steal anything of value it is still theft. Fraud is defined as using deception for financial gain. Fraud and theft are both crimes. The question is whether there exists enough real evidence to prosecute.
317  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trendon Shavers/Pirate ~ New Info on: September 13, 2012, 05:30:43 AM
I am sure this is a current or recent address. This is Ashley Shavers's address on Whitepages, and is also an address listed under GPUMAX registration.

2305 S Custer Rd, Apt 1507
McKinney, TX 75070-6222

I shipped two orders of Casascius Coins to this address in January and February 2012.

Epic!  Smiley

So now the question is does Trendon have money to pay people at this point or has it been lost to Zeek?

It would be so funny if Zeek was what he was using.
318  Economy / Securities / Re: Would there be any interest in a GLBSE stock that invested in the US stock on: September 13, 2012, 05:28:40 AM

I like it, however it would take thousands of dollars to get a good amount of shares in. If I could get thousands of dollars from the community, that would be awesome! However I don't think that will be the case. 100 shares would cost ~$9300 which would pay out an apparently fluctuating $50 per month. Once converted to BTC, that would be ~BTC5 which would then be divided by ~1000 or so shares. So BTC0.005 in a months time. Another thing though, with the price being so high.. It would be hard to reinvest in it. From my understanding there's no way to say let's reinvest 50% of a dividend a month and take out the other 50% as cash without selling after auto-reinvesting. That issue however could just be the Options House trading platform. However E*Trade does not allow you to do this either as I did check with them. I've also used Trade King, but they didn't even have dividend reinvestment! Undecided

In summary, I like the stock, but I don't think it would be a right fit for the community currently. If I raised ~$100,000, sure! I don't see that happening however... and don't expect it to!

This is actually a bond ETF, which is basically like a pass through to a portfolio of high-yielding corporate bonds. Again, holding this is quite risky, since a rise in interest rates will lead to big drops.

Fire them all!

There are plenty of unemployed Americans (~10%) that would love to have a cushy, secure job with tons of benefits and paid vacations.

This would be pretty much the best thing ever. I really hope it happens, but it never does.
