301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero most likely coin to challenge Bitcoin on: September 13, 2016, 09:43:45 AM

Here's a few reasons why it isn't:

 • Monero is screwed up from conception in that it trashes the very thing that makes bitcoin valuable - blockchain transparency

 • If you've ever used it in its native form, it feels like its been written by an overexcited twelve year old who just learned C++ last month

 • Dark markets like mainstream money, not their own "Dark Market" monopoly money. The best use case is therefore as a transitory laundering facility for BTC

 • That makes it a "tech stock", not a monetary asset, the difference being that one provides a technologically oriented service and the other is a store of value

 • That in turn gives it a limited shelf life because though the "tech" may take years to develop, it only takes seconds to reproduce. Therefore, if you're not the money, just the laundering service, then you're toast as soon as the "next great thing" comes along

- nope, blockchaintransparancy is/was a means, not an end... Blockchain's purpose is to be a ledger that makes sure there are no double spends, that there's no shenanigans going on... Whether it's transparent or not, it's just there to maintain the integrity of the system...
- I used it, it totally doesn't feel that way, but the way you FEEL about something is a bit of a subjective argument wouldn't you say...
- Well, at least that's a use case isn't it, and rather a large one... And again, I feel this is a very subjective statement on your part, how do you know what  dark markets LIKE. Again you're projecting your own (possible flawed) subjective opinion to try to make your point...
- Since this statement is based on your previous (subjective) statement I consider it void... Sorry to say, but it's starting to look like you're really trying hard to find a stick to hit a dog (in this case the monero-fluffy-dog)...
- Again, because this is based on your previous subjective assumptions, this statement has no merit at all...

All in all a very poor argumentation based on your subjective feelings/assumptions, but I know where you're coming from, so I wouldn't expect anything else, you're most obviously biased against monero... when one is biased, one seldomly uses rational argumentation...

why trade yourself into trouble

THIS!

you have to be a damn good trader to profitably trade crypto's... And I doubt you can really pull it off without a large enough bag of money to influence the markets...

I know I can't for sure... To the brave souls that give it a try, I wish you good luck!

303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it worth investing right now in MONROE? on: September 07, 2016, 02:10:42 PM
whenever there is a sudden rise in an altcoin price you should either have bought that altcoin before the big rise or buy on the rise and hold it. and when we reach the top of that price it becomes harder to predict if it goes higher or stops there.

for example when price went to 0.018 i sold and took my profit but price started to go even higher to 0.021

as for potential, the coins like monero seem to be getting a lot of publicity these days which will help their rise and it is possible for further rises.

That's not always the case.. I was an early bitcoin investor back in the days when bitcoin was worth a couple of pennies. After a 1000% pump, I sold a large portion (Which I regret to this day since I had thousands of bitcoins) So no, it is never too late to invest in a coin that is going viral and endorsed by many new businesses... Follow your guts, and remember that patience is a virtue and most importantly "NEVER PANIC SELL"

I can relate, panic-sold a rather large stash of my btc when the mtgox-debacle happened... never fully recovered bitcoin-wise...

Learned a good lesson though: always remember why you've invested in an asset in the first place, if the fundamentals are good, the fundamentals are good... When you start to doubt, check your first analysis, if it's still correct, stay invested!

MONROE's fundamentals are outstanding, as long as that doesn't change I'm selling jack shit...

304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it worth investing right now in MONROE? on: September 07, 2016, 12:26:42 PM
if you are talking about Monero (XMR) then I have to tell you, you are late to the party my friend. the rise happened and we all got lots of profit when it was hot. you should have listened back then not now.

but also I believe although this is super risky to invest now, there is still room for some more growth. but I emphasize again that it is a lot more riskier now to buy unless you are willing to take the risk and sell at a possible loss.

I can't agree with your second paragraph... It's not riskier now. MONROE (yeah i know, monero, just think MONROE is pretty funny, especially in capital letters) has an actual use case now, people will use it on DNM's because MONROE offers better privacy, better anonimity, is fungible...

While 'investing' in 2014 and 2015 meant you were buying a very speculative vehicle with little to no practical usability, all this changed when DNM's started accepting it. The hash-rate is going steadily up and the number of communicty-members is rising (rather fast I would say). Xmr existst for 2 years now and I think next year will be the year that MONROE will outgrow its infancy and be ready to really compete with the big boys...

Don't forget the dynamic blocksize and the tail emission, this is very important, it means that MONROE is technically better fit then bitcoin to do what it needs to do...

So no, it isn't riskier, it just got safer, maybe a rather large pullback in price right now, but in the long term I give MONROE lots less chance at failing then half a year ago...

Update.

Number of Monero sold = 0

What will make you do it?

bein terminally ill and needing expensive operation, or maybe $100/XMR but that one depends... let's see if I'll ever be able to sell..

Ive been doing altcointrading and lurking on here for 10 days or so now and just signed up. I've 145%'ed my initial investment so far. I'm new to this game and as such I'm all ears to any expert input. I particularly like Mcscrooge avatar guy and the vulture guy.

XMR looks to have established a new floor of .021, I don't see why the big boys wouldn't pump it to .03 by the end of the week since after every pump there are new bagholders who for instance won't sell at .0215 what they bought at .022. XMR is bullish because the floors keep going up. Watch the weekend's new floor be .025 after a .031 ceiling. I don't see the whales abandoning ship at least until Zcash comes out. This is my opinion, and I'll keep holding onto my bag for now.

Since I'm new to this game Id like to ask those of you who have been trading longer:

When do we get a "Coinbase" for XMR?
What is a GUI, and what would it do for this coin?

I know Google is a thing but I like the back and forth better.

I like mcscrooge and the vulture, but also the guy with the fear and loathing in las vegas cat  Wink

I tend to agree that XMR establishes new floors, but still think/fear we will get a big correction sometime, just don't know when...

Considering your questions:

- I think XMR already has this: poloniex.com, litebit.eu, livecoin.net

- a GUI is a graphical user interface. XMR had no official GUI yet, it seems that the GUI is ready now... it just needs to be released as an installable.exe for noobs like me... It would greatly improve the ease of use of XMR, cuz now the xmr-wallet is commandline... means typing in commando's and people tend to get uncomfortable when they can't just 'click&send'... wallet looks like this: http://imgur.com/gallery/HlC1u

for more info about xmr there's also the stack exchange http://monero.stackexchange.com/ with lots of questions and answers... XMR is only the third crypto (after BTC and ETH) with a stack exchange site...
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 05, 2016, 02:26:29 PM
and you haven't seen the last of the free financial advisors.

This. tons of newbie accounts coming out giving financial advice, bah...

I predict a new ATH by tomorrownight for XMR, based on voodoo, sorcery and far from superior TA-skills!
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 05, 2016, 12:43:22 PM
Landies and Gents, please be careful with your XMR!
IF this pump follows the same shematics as the last one, i would sell my XMR now and buy back in way lower.
Just look at the similarities from the last pump, only the timeframe and volume from this august-september pump is more intense.

Last Pump

This Pump

couldn't care less... even if you bought at the top of what you call the previous pump, you still made out like a bandit right now...

and again, this is not your ordinary pump, monero has utility now... you seem to be the only one who doesn't get this... would you say that bitcoin reaching 600$ was a pump & dump? Sure, there were pumps, but all in all bitcoin is worth this much now because of utility...

let's hope the same happens with monero, good luck trading it... I won't try it for sure

310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The battle over online privacy (Dash / Monero / Zcash) on: September 03, 2016, 09:32:41 PM

Its a good thing Dash moved away from darknet and that Dash privacy solution is totally optional.

I lolled so hard at this, wtf, this is the best joke ever...

come on man, you can't be serious...

now Dash is better cuz the privacy is optional... newsflash, xmr's privacy is optional too, with the viewkey...

you know why those dnm's didn't choose Dash, cuz the privacy features are inherently flawed, not optional, but flawed...

I really wonder if you were able to keep a straight face when starting this topic... I lolled really hard, thank you!

311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero will go back under 10 $ Factom will rise above 4$ on: September 03, 2016, 08:53:05 PM
Monero will be useful just short period of time, soon Zcash will release with new ideas, other cryptocurrencies will implement better ideas.
People will not going to trust Monero in long run, money will jump from one to another cryptocurrency that is claiming to be more anonymous.

you're such a visionary, can you lend me your cristal ball, I'd like to make some money!!!!

No seriously, it's becoming embarrasing...

bye
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero will go back under 10 $ Factom will rise above 4$ on: September 03, 2016, 08:41:57 PM
We already had anonimity cryptocurrencies, the of Monero code is not so revolutionary, it's time to except and not be so emotional.

inform yourself man, monero is based on cryptonote and has been extensively peer reviewed, I doubt a hacker or some group of hackers will suddenly break the protocol/cryptography... Maybe a good time for you to read up on the MRL's and see if you can't find some holes in the code you can exploit, I'm sure someone would love to pay you for such things...

https://lab.getmonero.org/

btw, the only one who seems to be emotional is you with your totally unsubstantiated and bullshit-claims...

edit: the other anonimity coins you're talking about are all based on bitcoin-source and all use a form of mixing... Monero is different, read up on it!

last time I try to help: inform yourself man!!!!

313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero will go back under 10 $ Factom will rise above 4$ on: September 03, 2016, 08:31:59 PM
There's no anonymity, people write the code and make mistakes, hackers exploit them, it's constant progress, after Monero first public hack, another ""Anonymity"" cryptocurrency as you say will repeat the story.

Dude, bitcoin was never hacked, exchanges got hacked yes, but bitcoin itself, no...

you need to read up on things man... inform  yourself before throwing money at these things...

wawawiewa,

now that is some serious FUD  Cheesy

thanks for your concerns really, what a nice person you are!

best regards,

Monero is 11$ soon will go even lower.

dude, off course it will correct sooner or later... I was referring to your inane and totally unsubstantiated reasoning...
but hey, whatever rocks your boat man...

btw, I bought in 2015 and beginning 2016, median price about 0.0015, so haven't really been inclined to sell yet... in 2013 I knew the fundamentals for btc were excellent, now I know the fundamentals for XMR are excellent...

best regards

Besides hype of fungibility Monero have no value, what excellent fundamentals?

Hackers already implementing the idea and creating similar currency with more functions.
Shadow is also worthless people are giving money for whales.

hype of fungibility... oh boy...  I can only advize you to study the monetary system, to study monetary history, to learn about money and what constitutes 'good' money... Maybe have a look too at the things our governments are doing right now and deduct how important fungibility and anonimity really are/will become

anyway, good luck, you obviously will need it.

best regards

Go ahead. In fact going forward always prove the way you are about to ... for all of the next set of trades. I mean how cool would it be to get acknowledgement from a bunch of trolls on the internet. I know in my case it will make my day.

Don't have any Monero...just a quick question.

Can you mine this coin? I saw something about GPU mining but that may be from the past.

Also in folks view is it just the anonymous aspects of this coin that have helped cause the pump or is there other features of this coin in your view that also add to this

thanks just trying to put my toe in the water here and check this thread out...I need a starting point Smiley
yes, you can mine it, actually xmr is the most profitable to mine atm: http://www.whattomine.com/coins

why the price rise?
anonimity --> fungibility...
