304  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analyzing Bitcoin Price Prediction Models for 2020 on: December 16, 2019, 03:27:45 AM
Quote

I am not a technically-inclined guy and I actually have a hard time understanding some concepts and ideas used in predicting the possible price of Bitcoin in the coming months but I am one of the many who are hoping that as the rewards halving is nearing there can be possible uptick in the price of Bitcoin even just returning to the $10K level and staying there with some stability. However small, there should be some market movement in response to the halving happening in May 2020 though I also see some people already resigned that the halving effects have already been factored into the present price level. Well, all I can say is that predicting Bitcoin can be a very risky business because this beast seems to be untamed in many ways.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In 2019, Students Demanded Blockchain Education. In 2020, It’s Coming on: December 16, 2019, 01:43:02 AM
This post is part of CoinDesk's 2019 Year in Review, a collection of 100 op-eds, interviews and takes on the state of blockchain and the world. Galen Danziger is the chief technology officer at the MouseBelt Blockchain Accelerator.

Right here in my own country, there is also a brewing interest with the blockchain technology and now there are some select schools offering some short-term courses and training on this. With the blockchain technology starting to be recognized as an important tool and even a game-changer, I am sure that more and more students will be getting into this. And this is partly in response to the growing demand for people who are blockchain experts. Once the demand for personnel who are acquainted well with the blockchain technology, more and more schools will be offering full-fledged courses or even degrees on this. This is a good development, on my own reckoning.
306  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Quadriga: Lawyers for users of bankrupt crypto firm seek exhumation of founder on: December 16, 2019, 01:21:18 AM
I think its within legal bounds, this can be done, just to make sure that Gerald Cotten is indeed dead and maybe we can have closure of his death as we all know that there are a lot of questions about his demise, specially it happen in India wherein there's a lot of fake deaths have been reported.

This can be critical to the QuadrigaCX case so that all questions and doubts relative to the founder's death can finally be laid to rest. I am sure there is a great interest to this story not just within the cryptocurrency community but even outside. I read a long article on the case of this exchange and the many things on Gerald Cotten and at the end it saddened me that there are many people like him existing within the very industry we love so dear. The man started to make his name promoting ponzi scams and at the end the same label is attached to him into his grave. I am extending my condolences to the people who are victims of this now-dead platform.
307  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-15] Bitcoin Prices in Venezuela Near $9,500 as BTC Demand Intensifies on: December 16, 2019, 12:39:50 AM
What is even more remarkable is the price people are willing to pay per bitcoin. Given the current global market value of $7,145, one would not necessarily expect there to be a high premium in Venezuela. Things could not be further from the truth, however, as the current premium to be paid on top of the average bitcoin price is very steep.

One of the many things I realized with Bitcoin is that it can be thriving well and will be so valuable whenever people are experiencing myriad of difficulties and a country is having many big turmoils. In other words, when times are bad and people can be suffering, Bitcoin can be good. And this is quite illustrated in the country of Venezuela. However, this is truly sad and unfortunate. When there is that big demand and the supply is getting harder to flow in a free market, then the asset will certainly be getting a more-than-usual price.

311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened after UK general election on: December 15, 2019, 03:06:11 AM

So since Bitcoin came into existence partly because of the bad economic situation more than 10 years ago, whenever things are getting hopeful and exciting in many big countries economically and politically it would be Bitcoin that is going to suffer. In other words, Bitcoin can be going well when things are not doing good. And that can be so pathetic to me if this is true. I am a person who does not want to dwell a lot on negativities and problems and if I am supporting something like Bitcoin which is thriving more when times are bad and rough then maybe I should be thinking deep on my involvement.
312  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-13 ] Africa Experiences Surge In Use Of Digital Currency on: December 15, 2019, 01:48:38 AM

There is no question with the fact that Africa can be holding the next frontier for cryptocurrency and it can be because primarily of the instability of this region when it comes to economy and governance. In an area where fiat money has not achieved a clear path to stability and good value, I am sure that Bitcoin and the rest of the gang can have a good footing here. I am actually excited with Africa and I am hoping that there will be more legit infrastructure that can be operating within the many countries of this continent. One problem that I am seeing is that there are now also those who exploited the rising cryptocurrency interest with introducing their scammy programs that has the potential to make the image of legit cryptocurrency go sour.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Spouses and Divorce on: December 15, 2019, 01:31:48 AM
There is a bigger picture here as well, with some people holding hundreds or thousands of BTC and the price continuing to go up - how might the court system view Bitcoin in the context of divorce and separation?

In legal perspective, Bitcoin can be considered as an asset therefore when there will be divorce the same can be taken into half for distribution to both parties. Now, in the case of the story above, as long as both are still in marriage, I don't think it will be appropriate to pressure anyone to do something against his wish. The wife should not be interfering with the investment decisions of her husband as this can be a cause for differences.
314  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-14] Billionaires Buying Bitcoin: Bill Pulte Announces 11 BTC Purchase on: December 15, 2019, 01:08:22 AM

Billionaire Bill Pulte is joining the crypto community. He wants to use Bitcoin to help the poor.

Is he distributing the same digital asset to the needy and the poor? Well, I am hoping he will be doing it on a large-scale and aside from charitable intention he should be holding some for future growth. I think that this move can be helping the cause of Bitcoin a lot and let's likewise hope that this can be encouraging other rich people to also jump into the bandwagon. These people can easily afford Bitcoin and can be influential on their moves.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto a good resume of the situation. on: December 15, 2019, 12:29:21 AM

And so the saga of the search for the real Satoshi Nakamoto continues with this another twist to the drama. Now, personally, I really do not easily believe on anything that just came about recently because in many cases they can just be another man-made or just a hoax and just worthy mentioning for the sake of curious people who could not really accept that the man is not anymore interested of resurfacing (that is if he is still alive). However, what we can never denied is that there is now a big cultish following of anything that has something to do with Satoshi. maybe the Church of Satoshi can be true, indeed.

317  Local / Pilipinas / Re: 🔥 🔥The BITCOIN Market Psychology (Nakakaurat minsan) Sad but True🔥 🔥 on: December 14, 2019, 03:48:48 AM

I am not a victim of the BUY HIGH at SELL LOW because I entered BTC when it was just around $500 though at that time because I myself really doubted Bitcoin so I just bought some. That was a big mistake because we know that BTC eventually reached its ATH of $20K.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale Spends over 800 BTC just to Win a 5 Million Doge Bet on: December 14, 2019, 03:31:32 AM
This guy on Twitter actually spent 800 (probably more) BTC in order to win a few Dogecoins. Goes to show how easy it is to manipulate the market.

Probably, easy if you really have as much or as many Bitcoin as that person. As an average guy, getting one Bitcoin can be so hard and can be taking a lot of hard work and creativity, otherwise I have to cough out money to buy one. Now, let's do away with the idea that the system can be unfair because the market is always ready for anyone with the money. And if one has no money, then there are many ways one can get them. Right now, nobody will ever be giving away a good amount of Bitcoin for nothing. One thing for sure, as in any marketplace, the more resources you have the more window of opportunities you can have. And that is just fair enough for me.
319  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-13] Bitcoin Mining in 2019: Renewable Energy and the Importance of Sich on: December 14, 2019, 03:07:01 AM
It is believed that 73% of the electricity consumed by Bitcoin miners comes from renewable sources. This changes the narrative in multiple ways. Not only does it show the negative reports are taking things out of context, but it makes Bitcoin mining operations a major global electricity buyer.

Well, I am really hoping that the 73% figure is more or less the truth when it comes to the use of sustainable sources of energy for Bitcoin mining. Environmental issue is one of the things I have been concerned since I can remember. We only have one planet Earth and so far not even Mars is quite prepared to take us in case of a great worldwide catastrophe. However, as what I am also pointing out to others, all industries are using power and it is sometimes unfair for Bitcoin to be pinned down as a culprit when everybody should be sharing the responsibility for a sustainable Earth. We should be promoting a more environmentally-friendly Bitcoin mining not just on the source of power but on the very technology on mining itself.
320  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-13] Highest in 2 Years: 65% of Bitcoin Hash Power Is in China, Report.. on: December 14, 2019, 02:26:52 AM

This is one manifestation of the pervasive power of China when it comes to influence that even something that is considered to be revolutionary like Bitcoin can be under its nose.  I admire China for many reasons but at the same time I am quite wary because this one big country that has a solid and on-track global domination vision. There is no perfect country nor government but I still prefer one that is willing to listen to what others are saying, unlike the mindset of China right now. It is quite ironic that even if Bitcoin has become the very symbol and bringer of decentralization, one of its biggest foundations is not. The very reason for this is that China is admittedly one of the few optimized countries for the mining business and we can only hope that soon this can be slowly changing.
