Well, it certainly beats my stash!  Cheesy That's what I get for being a dabbler. However, I do make slightly more per year than 9 BTC. But with the way things have been looking lately, 9 BTC will surpass my yearly job income very soon. Yeah, I know, I'm languishing in near poverty.

I didn't mean to imply I'm any better off. But it's important to keep your composure around rich folks.

Most of the Bitcoin whales are Lower Upper class right now.( The nouveau riche.) No need to treat them like royalty.  Cheesy

Define a bitcoin whale (aka nouveau riche)?  above 1000 coins (that would be nearly $4.5 million in BTC)? or some other lower number?

I believe that there are a few regular WO participants who are in the 100 coin territory, and they may or may not engage in too much trading of their coins... surely they are not whales, right?  Not even baby whales despite the fact that their 100 coins (about $1/2 million) could move BTC prices, temporarily - for about 5 minutes, perhaps?

these 100 coin folks are sitting pretty comfortable - and likely in a decent place in the coming years, as long as they can hold onto their coins - perhaps 10 years, perhaps less.  Yeah, right, there are some folks, including masterluc who are predicting another 3x price increase in this run - which is quite possible, but still only puts the 100 coin hodler in the $1.5 million of BTC richness, which is still not a whale, right?  but maybe getting closer to baby whale status, right?

I was thinking in the range of 1000 + coins to be a Bitcoin whale. 100 Coins is more like a dolphin. Me, a minnow. Grin

This guy accidentally flashes his stash and everybody loses their shit. Grin I guess all the whales are over here.

9 BTC ? What a poor.

The U.S Bureau of the Census has the annual real median personal income at $30,240 in 2015.

9 BTC is a fair amount over that.

I don't understand why BCH's mkt cap is so high.
Transferring coins takes forever. Last time it took like 12hours!

You must have tried to transfer coins while they were waiting for the emergency difficulty adjustments to kick in. Now, the magical mystery miner is being generous, and making sure the blocks come about once every 10 minutes or so. I'm sure the magical mystery miner would love to take a break and let another emergency difficulty adjustment kick in. Unfortunately, the BTC.TOP pool operator won't let that happen. After all we have a flock of hungry vulture miners circling around, just waiting to swoop in when the difficulty goes down enough to make it more profitable than the other chain. Good job, BTC.TOp and magical mystery miner. Thanks for
keeping this network on life support!

:)cheers bonester ...
sorry i have a few questions if you could maybe give me some feedback.
think this is due to low demand or something else?  what if it doesnt ever go much higher?

also whats your thoughts, could seg/core block satoshis wallet?

I can't comment on the low demand for segwit, thus far. I believe the problem is mostly technical. I know that I have to use the trezor beta wallet if I wanted to start using segwit.
Edit: I think this article explains it. Many wallets haven't fully implemented it. You have to use a command line transaction to do it with Bitcoin Core. What casual user is going to go through the trouble of using command line?  Cheesy https://www.coindesk.com/segwits-slow-rollout-bitcoins-capacity-hasnt-seen-sudden-boost/
Also, neither Bitcoins nor Bitcoin Cash for that matter are truly fungible. So yes, core can hard code censoring these addresses. Very possible. A mining pool can also censor these addresses, and refuse to include any transactions in their particular blocks. Furthermore, exchanges and other vendors can freeze the funds of any inbound transactions, if they feel it is fit. They can also be nice and let you withdraw your coins and give you the boot. Coinbase does this all of the time.

^thanks for sharing your thoughts  Smiley

2, things please...
you think seg/block could blacklist or stop satoshis wallet?
&
its been almost a week , is there a way to see how many users have moved to segwit addresses?

This web page let's you know exactly how many segwit transactions are in each block. Not many, so far.

http://segwit.5gbfree.com/countsegwit gives count
http://segwit.5gbfree.com/countsegwit.html shows a graph

Edit:Sorry, it does not appear this data is not very up to date. But it is all that I could find.

It is going to take me months to slowly offload my B cash. Lack of liquidity is the major reason. Selling all of it as that project has no future. Using Changely and Shapeshift as well to protect my privacy. Bit of a pain but worth it to avoid KYC exit.

What KYC exist? Is changely/shapeshift better than Bittrex/Binance?

Most exchanges ask for KYC , changely/shapeshift have a worse rate but don't ask for personal info

Yobit is pretty lax. But then again, they are Yobit.... Grin

I like to call this unknown miner the magical mystery miner.  Cheesy I strongly suspect that it is indeed Bitmain, but I have no definite proof. Anyone know how I can find out the IP of the magical mystery miner?

This mystery miner is supposedly Zhuo' Er Jiang from btc.top... but we all know they are controlled/partnered with Bitmain .

He was supposed to stop the EDA bug earlier ... but accidentally overslept ... lol .

Yes, I know about him. He also wasn't much of a mystery since he signaled that those blocks came from BTC.top. I'm just curious about the miner that is now mining almost 64% of the blocks, to keep the network on life support. Cheesy
3010  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 29, 2017, 01:09:33 AM

Just because it halving was 3 years before us doesn't mean selling of the BCH would. Be a big mistake. In the future.

Despite the EDA bug , Bitmain doesn't mind mining at a loss , because he can get 20% advantage over ASICBOOST and he wants this chain to survive so he can continue his unfair advantage.

This means no early halving for B Cash

See for yourself , they are mining mostly empty blocks to prevent EDA bug

To simplify things, they are all going to exist, however, there might be major n minor chain of bitcoin. With miners hopping between chain, its fluctuations like crazy. There is no unity.

The pool operator of BTC.top came up with a solution for the chain hopping. He monitored the chain and contributed just enough hash to make sure the EDAs do not make the difficulty too low and prevent the profit seeking and unfaithful miners from swooping in like vultures and rend out every coin they can, just so they can dump and move on. Now the magical mystery miner is contributing just enough hash to keep the blocks coming at about once every 10 minutes or so. The dynamics of this network really sucks so far. Better hope the Bitcoin cash community can come up with a better way.

Yes EDAs just happened.

Its just going to keep fizzling out till its $50

I couldnt call it at first, but it looks like Bitcoin will be ok, and Bitcoin Cash will just be slightly held up from those with wishful thinking.

I predict it stablizes at $50 around 30 days from now, and will not break $800 again, as it bumps up and down, on its way to reality, and thus the correction

The deep pockets better not let the price go that low, unless BTC takes a very huge correction! With the EDA in play, that could lead to a difficulty adjustment that is way too low. It would be a disaster if the difficulty had to be adjusted so low to make Bitcoin Cash profitable, that it would result in block times of 10 seconds or less, when all the miners hop back on.

10 second block times sound good to me might get the reward halving before the end of the year

10 second block times would result in lots of orphans, reorgs and empty blocks. It would make Bitcoin Cash network basically unusable until the network can sort out which chain is valid. It would also turn many miners off since many of their blocks would come back as orphans. Networks have limits. The most notable limit at this time is the speed of light. 10 second block times are only possible if you have a system where only a few nodes are actually making the blocks. It is not advisable in any proof of work system.

I'm out of bch now. I know it's not the best time as btc has gone up a little and bch has dropped a bit but I am more than happy increasing my btc stash by that much. It's pretty incredible really.

changing paper wallets, electron cash, Kraken, copy and pasting priv keys etc, confirmation emails .......blah blah

A hassle but WELL worth it.

Good job. I'm waiting for 0.2 again, but don't know if it'll ever come. Maybe in November.

By that time their Emergency Difficulty adjustments might adjust the difficulty so low, that their chain will become a mire of reorgs and orphans. This definitely would be quite bearish for BCH if this happens. It hasn't happened, yet. We'll see.

well sure, but... WHY? i mean, how the heck are they expecting to profit?

It seems Legendary accounts are worth to them to join signature campaigns, airdrops, bounties and all that shit. Not that they are gonna profit insanely though. Or none at all.

You can sell a legendary account for at least .1 BTC. If not more. According to Bitcointalk Price estimator mine's worth .18 BTC, although I think that web page overestimates what someone could really get. https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=85k9uaoq

What happens if BCH never finds a block again?  They have been stalled for a long fucking time - maybe fewer than 15 blocks have been found in the past 24 hours - something like that.

They have magical mystery miner to come to the rescue. Unless JU has decided to abandon the whole thing. But I doubt it.
3019  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 23, 2017, 11:35:54 PM
......how long until BCH needs to fork off again?

 Cheesy Cheesy

Maybe with the next boom period which may be coming soon, the emergency adjustments will bring the difficulty so low, that they will totally derail in a mire of orphans and reorgs. They already have 4 emergency difficulty adjustments locked in, coming up on a 5th. We will see. The emergency difficulty adjustments should come in a day or two, depending on whether the magical mystery miner decides to start helping the chain along again.

Don't you find it funny how all the miners (unknown, BTC.com, Antpool, ViaBTC) have all abandoned mining this at the same time it was as if Jihan Wu has handed out orders for all his hashing power to cease until the emergency difficulty adjustment comes into force  Roll Eyes

Easy manipulating this to their benefit and none of you seem to take issues with that ?

I find it telling that this is what you offer instead of offering a position... is this the BTC sub-forum?

Have you considered that the miners perhaps could actually believe in the blockchain and can see as clearly as you have pointed out and knowing how the difficulty works are acting on their own accord, in unison, for the benefit of the chain?

Does it scare me that people who might share a vision are working towards that?  Is this your question?

So every miner in the entire world all came to the same decision at the same time

What's to say the user's won't get sick of this yo-yo effect and just start dumping making this worthless and the miners just give up for good you don't know what there thinking.

How would you feel going to the bank to get some money and they turned round and said sorry we are withholding all withdrawals because the interest rates are down that's essentially what there doing holding your money because they don't want to mine just yet

Actually ViaBTC implemented the option to automatically profit switch soon before the last boom period end. Every time you log into the pool part, it pops up a reminder that this option is available. I suspect most of the other pools have the same option. Also, it appears that our magic mystery miner has decided to cool off his asics. So far, 4 emergency difficulty adjustments are locked in. Looks like we may have another boom period for the miners to rape this coin silly in a day or two. So three days boom, three days bust. Is that the cycle? What a wonderful, stable, and secure retarget algorithm they cooked up here.  Roll Eyes
