I don't use accounts much, but UTF-8 would be cool indeed.   (utf-8 is actually always cool)
3042  Economy / Marketplace / Re: We accept Bitcoins on: January 11, 2011, 04:17:10 AM

LOL

there are so many websites now that I wonder if we should not create a .btc primary domain.  A .com website would be similar to a .com (business related), but the official money would be bitcoin.
3043  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PLEASE VOTE] Who would use a "get free bitcoins for offers/services" site? on: January 11, 2011, 03:34:14 AM
Also, I don't believe in this psychological threshold you're talking about.  Maybe it's because I'm a HUGE bitocin fan, but really I trust bitcoin MUCH MORE than I trust euro, dollar or whatever.  I have therefore no problemn in buying bitcoins with so-called "real" money.

I'm pretty sure people would easily do the same once they got a fairly good idea of what bitcoin is exactly.
3044  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PLEASE VOTE] Who would use a "get free bitcoins for offers/services" site? on: January 11, 2011, 02:46:14 AM
Sorry, I come off as defensive rereading this don't I. I'm not meaning to put words into anyone's mouth, I was just clarifying what my app would hypothetically do, and find it hard to explain stuff as it comes up without it sounding like I asked a question and then complain about the answers  Grin

Well, my way of answering was a bit rude, I confess it.
3045  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: client command line option -wallet= in addition to -datadir=? on: January 11, 2011, 02:10:16 AM
What do you have against symlinks ?
3046  Other / Off-topic / Re: Playstation 3 hacked. on: January 11, 2011, 02:02:58 AM

LOL  check out at 37 min.   Very funny part when they explain that sony used ECDSA signatures with a constant "random" number.
3047  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PLEASE VOTE] Who would use a "get free bitcoins for offers/services" site? on: January 11, 2011, 01:04:10 AM
Well the system I'm mentioning is half "do this survey for a small amount of Bitcoins" and half "if you are buying this thing through this link, we'll give you X free bitcoins". The latter part might interest you if you shop online, and the former part allows "new" users to quickly get something in their accounts without crossing the psychological threshold of paying "real" money for them.

Yeah I get it.  It's not a bad proposal.  It's just that you asked a question, so I gave you my answer  Smiley.
3048  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 450btc Bounty (Pledge) for Open Source Exchange project. on: January 11, 2011, 12:39:33 AM
Wow davout I guess you have plenty of bitcoins now.  Would you like to buy a gold coin ?
3049  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PLEASE VOTE] Who would use a "get free bitcoins for offers/services" site? on: January 11, 2011, 12:37:51 AM

I doubt the amount of bitcoins you are willing to pay would worth my precious time.

So the answer is "no, thanks".

3051  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A bitcoin stock exchange plateform on: January 10, 2011, 05:26:42 PM
I can potentially host it for you for free, send me a PM if you want to set it up. I won't have time right now to work on it but can do it in the next several days.

I want this stuff to exist, even if I'm not the one who publishes it.  So I've just added it to github :

3052  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A bitcoin stock exchange plateform on: January 10, 2011, 05:18:12 PM

Hum,  it seems that there is a bug with the installed version of openssl on freeshell.org.  The guys there don't seem much keen on doing anything about it  Sad

A command such as :

openssl dgst -sha256 -sign <(openssl ecparam -name secp256k1 -genkey) -hex <<<test

works fine on my PC but returns an error on my website.

I have to find an other place to host my CGI script.

Thank you sir

Hum...  I should have tested more.  I get an error when trying to transfer a test share to you.

Give me some time.

j'achète 11 napoléons pour 9,125.00 BTC Smiley

J'avoue être tenté par ton offre.  T'es sérieux ou non ?  Parce que t'as mis un smiley alors...
3055  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A bitcoin stock exchange plateform on: January 09, 2011, 11:06:15 PM
Seems you have Internal Server Error?

Damn it.

By the way, I've added a "test share" which aims only in testing the plateform.

If you want one, just post a bitcoin address in this thread.

On verra.

Si ça intéresse quelqu'un ici, le prix est de 1000 BTC.  Envoi par lettre suivie si France metropolitaine.

3057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A "real" Bitcoin on: January 09, 2011, 08:16:10 PM
If the smart card had a custom application that simply proved that it contained the private key associated with some real Bitcoins out there, the value could be checked simply by confirming that the corresponding Bitcoin address had a balance.

If the Bitcoin system allowed bitcoins to be encumbered by TWO private keys instead of one, and the second one were settable by any user in possession of the card (a change would be announced to the blockchain so it would be enforced by all nodes), it would eliminate the risk that someone who secretly acquired the private key within the card (e.g. the manufacturer) could spend the coins after he had given away the card.

It seems to be quite complicated but I guess it's possible.

I don't think it would harm the bitcoin network anyway, so go for it.
3058  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying precious metals on: January 09, 2011, 07:58:23 AM
Grondilu, 500 BTC for the 10g bullion

No, I won't give it for such a low price, sorry.
3059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A "real" Bitcoin on: January 09, 2011, 07:40:25 AM
Why not?  A smart card can be given away just like any other tangible object.

Am I missing something or what ?  If you give the smartcard, the only way for the receiver to check that it realy has some value is to proceed to a transfer.  Then the card doesn't have any value anymore.  So what's the point of keeping it ?
3060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A "real" Bitcoin on: January 09, 2011, 05:18:20 AM
I assert that a smart card is a physical object that can securely store a bitcoin.

A smart card is an integrated circuit that, among other things, can store a private key and sign things with it without divulging the private key.  A smart card can also enforce pre-programmed constraints by itself.  Many smart cards can generate public/private key pairs on-chip, and encrypt/decrypt data streams in real time.

Yeah but to pay with a smartcard, you don't give the smartcard !  It's a completely dofferent purpose than a monetary token.
