3061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double or Nothing on: September 21, 2016, 04:09:01 PM
Here's a thought experiment

If I offered you $100, you could take it and walk away.
Or, you could double it or lose it all based on a coin flip.

Now, you're presented with a situation where if you take the double down, and you lose, have you really lost anything?
You never had anything to begin with until I made you this offer. Would you feel regret for not taking the $100 in the first place?

Thoughts?  Grin

$100 is not so big but it is still considered up there. so if you offered me such a deal i would take the money and walk away without making any bets.

but if the amount was lower like around 20 bucks then i guess i would feel a lot better to make some bets at least 2 times in a row and try my chances at this proposal.
3062  Economy / Gambling / Re: Investing in btc casinos on: September 21, 2016, 04:05:17 PM
invest in just-dice. Best return xD

I have an active investment in just-dice for almost a year now and the profits is not that much. So I just left it there and let it sleep.

Yes house edge always wins but the returns are not that much even I have a decent amount invested there for a long time. Plus the fact that Clams are not that interesting anymore in terms of price making it out of my priority now.

can you give us some numbers about your investment like how much have you invested and how much percentage of shares are you receiving?

there was a good topic here about some guy investing in five different gambling sites and posting the result each week, if you can find that topic and follow it gives you a pretty good idea about how much can you expect from your investment in general.
3063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin less evil than PayPal? on: September 21, 2016, 04:00:39 PM
If we consider Paypal evil (I do), should we consider Bitcoin less evil?
Paypal allows chargeback fraud and is a feast for scammers
Then again
Bitcoin doesnt allow chargebacks and is a feast for scammers because of thatI think Bitcoin, however, cant be regarded as evil cuz its decentralized or semi-decentralized(china)
what do u think fellow people of Bitcointalk?
~CfA~

i don't think we can even use "evil" for either of them.
because bitcoin and paypal are two totally different things with nothing in common. and paypal may be considered bad but it is not evil it is just a different system with different sets of rules .
and charge back although it is the source of many frauds but also it is good sometimes when the sender is the victim of fraud.
3064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find out the optimal network fee for transaction? on: September 21, 2016, 03:55:08 PM
The speed of the transaction is also dependent on network fees and it varies.

Is there an optimal network fee or a website I could find reference to the latest network fee?

The transaction speed does not depend on network fees nor does it vary wildly.

Beyond the sites that were already linked, you can have more info on transaction fees here
https://bitcoinfees.21.co/
look for the line that is green, because all the yellow and orange lines are slower(less change of next block priority)
at time of posting its about 70-80sats per byte.

which you then have to work out the data size of your transaction(in bytes) to multiply and get a transaction fee amount for your transaction in particular

then add a few satoshi's ontop that total to give you a little extra chance that you are more priority than other people looking and trying the same thing.

Thank you for the clear explanation and site references.

How is the size of transaction (in bytes) are calculated?

based on the number of inputs and outputs you have in your transaction and i think also there is additional size if you include a message with your tx but that is not the case with most users.

in other words if you have 10 UTXOs and want to spend them all your size will be big compared to when you have only 1

you don't have to worry about the size and fee though because wallets that i have seen so far you set the fee/kb number not fee alone so it calculates it for you.
3065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing my $2,000,000 Into bitcoin (advice me) on: September 20, 2016, 08:33:25 AM
i don't know if it is a genuine question or is it just for trolling but 2 million dollars is a lot of money to invest in something that you don't have enough information and experience about. and i bet none of the users who replied so far have that kind of money or even if they have they never invested that kind of money so seeking advice here from inexperienced investors is not a good idea.

we can guide you will smaller amounts like <$50,000 investment.
3066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: which dice site is better ? on: September 20, 2016, 08:29:09 AM
all of them are the same more or less.
they all have similar house edge, similar faucet payment and even similar bet sizes and roll numbers so it really doesn't matter which dice site you choose as long as it is an old and trusted site.

although there are two or three sites like crypto-games that have the option of gambling dice with a couple of altcoins so that is something to consider when choosing.
3067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet in bank? on: September 20, 2016, 08:25:26 AM
this has been discussed so many times before. bitcoin is the enemy of the banks so they will not start using it because that means they are making bitcoin legit or help if become legit and if everybody starts using bitcoin the way they should then they no longer will need banks and it means death of banks.
3068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Soon Back To Sub 1 Dollar on: September 20, 2016, 08:22:32 AM
What I see in poloniex is that ethereum is on the top of most traded coins in the last 24h

So the price is more than $12 (~0.02+) and to go to one dollar is impossible for now.

Thank you...

yeah there is a very nice pump going on right now and it is a very good opportunity to make some money from this coin.

but i think ethereum is doomed eventually especially with bug after bug which is being found in the code, it nearly looks like a swiss cheese these days full of holes.
3069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin is the sleeping giant on: September 20, 2016, 08:18:03 AM
litecoin has always been a good coin and one of the best altcoins among all other altcoins which have come and gone during these years and LTC has stayed strong still.

and soon i am sure litecoin will go to the moon, even if it is a simple pump. because there have been a lot of long term accumulation going on and there is a big good news about litecoin implementing confidential transactions which will explode the price
3070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is it Sports Betting is better than other type of gambling? on: September 20, 2016, 08:13:42 AM
I want to know why people always pushing sports betting as a type of gambling that can give the punters the best chance to win? I need your opinion on the subject and hope you guys can share your informative comments here.

betting on sports or i think it is safe to say betting on many other types of gambling games which are designed in a way that the win or lose depends on your skills rather than purely your luck. in these games you have a better chance of winning if you are skilled enough.

that is why you can see long winning streaks in sports betting tipster threads and they make a good amount of profit even in long term.
3071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: September 20, 2016, 08:09:33 AM
Gambling is so additive.I would suggest you to be away from this. Even if you want to try for fun but you will get addictive soon & start throwing your money over it.so be away from this.

Nope, addiction can be avoided and can be managed. It depends on ourselves, those who are addicted to gambling are those who cant manage themselves on how to gamble reponsibly.
It is easy to stay away in gambling rather than getting out in gambling because when you are addicted it would not be easy for you to get out as you will never forget your loses and you badly want your money back, without moving on we will continue to be addicted.
Human nature, we are curious of new things and when we are curious we wanted to try it, of course when we like to see that other people are enjoying in gambling we will not hesitate to try, because they will temp you and will always share their winning experience and hide their loses.

In other words, what majority of gamblers see are the shining object (or just the winnings) and not able to consider and check how many losses that certain individual had during his/her betting session. This is also true with some hype sites where they present individuals that are earning big already to entice new investors.

you should never compare gambling with hyip, a hyip is a scamming scheme that is clearly going to steal your money and run away with it and there is nothing you can do about it.

but gambling is a fair game and even if you don't have the edge for winning still your losses are fair.

besides you can start using other kinds of games and have a better chance of winning based on your skills like in sports betting.

Do you think DiceBot will give you profit in the long run?

No, in the long term, bot will make the house win. But, if you are lucky enough, why not?

whether you are lucky or unlucky dice games with the house edge that they have will never be good as along term games. in long term the house will always win without any exceptions.

and in short term you can only win if you are lucky otherwise you will end up losing and then follow up on the loss and lose more.

and bots can never change anything for you because they only do the same thing you do but faster.
3073  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price stuck ? on: September 20, 2016, 08:01:02 AM
this is the first time i see someone complaining about the price being stable and complaining about it this soon.

usually people start complaining after a month of stable price with little movement not after 10 days!

and this is all normal and good for bitcoin to reach a more stable price and stop being so volatile so that we can start thinking about it as a currency that we can use to buy stuff instead of just hodling it.
3074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transfer Fees Will Go Up With Time - How Can This Affect BTC Market on: September 20, 2016, 07:57:16 AM
Currently Blockchain transfer fee is ~0.0002 BTC ( transfer time ~ 20 min. ), previously was 0.0001 BTC. That means with time Blockchain transfer fee will go up.

and fees were once 0.01BTC for a normal size transaction so this means fee is going down Grin

How can this affect BTC market in future, because Blockchain is largest web wallet ?  Wink

WHAT Huh

amount that is paid for fee is determined based on the price of bitcoin and the cost of mining. it is paid for the job miners are doing so in the future it will be adjusted to be compatible with the price and the block reward miners are getting.

so if price goes down to $1 fees should rise
and if price goes to 1,000,000,000 price should go down.
0.01 BTC was what in $ at the time? 0.01 cents? anyway, just yesterday i was cleaning up some smaller wallets and the fees are to high to make small (not micro) transactions. if i buy a coffee and have to pay 5-10% fees, then bitcoin is doomed. and do not tell me those are peanuts still. in some countries this is worth a whole days work.
so my hope is that the fee will go down. my best guess is that we need to crank up the volume of transactions per second.

you can find the price of that time (2011) at any bitcoin price chart.

and also i have to say, whether you are paying for a cup of coffee or buying a house you will have to pay the same amount of 0.00013000BTC fee which is nearly 8 cents so if you think that is for a whole day's work payment then you may want to think about changing your job !
3075  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stay away from gambling? suggestions ? on: September 18, 2016, 11:45:54 AM
If you try to focus on other activities that may attract your attention, or even bring profits, you can find it easier to stay away from gambling.
Perfect if he wants to stay away from gambling then he should find some activities that can make his self more attract on that thing to keep his safe busy thats the only reason so that you will not able to play gambling and deosit all your money into bank to save money not wasting money in gambling.

substitution has been proven to be the most effective way of overcoming gambling addiction and i think that can even work with so many other types of addiction.

although this is mostly true about those with a mild case of gambling addiction for more serious cases they should seek professional help.
3076  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where can i find some better gambling sites? on: September 18, 2016, 11:39:53 AM

3077  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2.5 Years in Bitcoin and still holding. on: September 15, 2016, 11:30:45 AM
Big balls man I wouldn't be able to do that cause I sell them anytime they rise but in those 2.5 years alot has happened and I am surprised you still have them all.
I can't judge you but I wouldn't do the same I would've cashed out when they were 750+ and buy them again low because why not? thats missed chance buddy.

you have to be stable when you decide to make an investment.

that means you make a decision to hold bitcoin to a certain price up and to a certain price down and you should stick with it and never get out of line to do a different thing instead of it.

and this is called a true trading strategy not balls.
3078  Other / Archival / Re: What would you say to people who advice you to sell all your bitcoin? on: September 15, 2016, 11:26:06 AM
I only listen to what the market dictates, not to some person who doesn't know any better than I do. I set my own buy and sell targets and I think these are already good enough for me, if only I could follow it religiously. But fortunately, I haven't come across somebody who tells me to do what he thinks I should do.

this is the only right thing to do.
you should only follow your own knowledge and make your own decisions instead of listening to other people and following them blindly.
this way you will be more successfull.
3079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best cryptocurrency to invest ? on: September 14, 2016, 07:03:54 AM
In the order of popularity and potential,

1. Bitcoin
2. Ethereum, ETH / ETC
3. DigiByte
4. Kobocoin
5. Diamond
6. Lisk
7. Monero
8. Huh
9. Huh
10. Profit!!!

this is a good list so i contribute to this comment with my opinion.

1) bitcoin is the best and there is no doubt.
2) ETH is not so good as it was before but instead ETC has a lot of potential
3) Digibyte has been one of the most profitable coins for sometime.
4) i don't know this coin!
5) i recently found Diamond and i find it a good investment
6) Lisk has a lot of potential but it is staying down on a stable price for some reason, maybe a huge pump in the future to 0.01??
7) monero is the hottest coin of the month and it is still staying hot but i think it can be at the end of its line.
additions:
Cool litecoin is a coin that you should never forget about because it is one of the best coins which is also old and trusted.
9) some other coins similar to XMR have been a good investment too like shadowcash, ...
3080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: eSports gambling on: September 14, 2016, 06:58:26 AM
I never heard the other eSports only 365bet that i know or well know site..
Why don't  you added nitrogensports in the list i think they have also e-sports. I hope that other site are legit. I heard someone are looking for a list of gambling site with e-sports.. so this thread will help to know other gambling site with e-sports.
Yes except 365bet site I am also not heard about these sites. And he is not listed many famous sites on his list. He missed Nitrogensports and Directbet. I think few more are there, but I am not using that. These two sites are very famous, but why he not mentioned I don't know. It's ok to let's check all these sites and share your experience. It will be useful for all players.

i suspect that OP since it is a brand new account that has only posted this topic and logged out of bitcointalk, is somehow affiliated with some of these sites if not all of them. and he is advertising rather than compiling a list.
especially since (like you said) famous sites like Nitrogensports is not on the list but unknown sites are!!
